How was the feetsball (myself, I’m blissfully ignerant o’ feetsball even when someone else in the same house is watching a game & shouting & throwing things at the television. Occ. I might be moved to care just a SMIDGE, about an Army-Navy feetsball game. But only on Scientific Principle, not due to the fascinating interaction btw bipeds & oval balls)?

Resriechan, I live in Oklahoma, where football is the Official State Religion. We are required on Saturdays to face toward the University of Oklahoma’s Owen Field and intone “Boomer Sooner.” We have religious police (much like the Taliban) who make sure that this rite is observed in every household in the state. Only those who practice Reformed Football are exempt (they have to face toward the Oklahoma State stadium). Some, like myself, follow the Rule of Life of more stringent and ascetic sects, and are required to watch NFL games on Sundays and Mondays as well. On weekdays, we simply light a candle in front of an image of legendary Sooner coach Bud Wilkinson.

quichepup, I am aware of the redesignation of OU’s stadium as “Owen Field at Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium.” I am also aware of the existence of the Gaylord School of “Journalism.” Given my lifelong aversion to the Gaylord-owned Worst Newspaper Since the Invention of Movable Type, I’d rather just call it “Owen Field,” and honor Coach Bennie Owen.
QoD, my NFL team (oddly enough here in the heart of Dallas Cowboys country) is the Green Bay Packers. My uncle was the radio Voice of the Packers during the Lombardi era, so there is a genetic connection to the Frozen Tundra of Wisconsin.
