  3. Suzanne says:

Stuart is obviously the new spokes-groundhog for Groundhog Life Alert – “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!”

  4. Von Zeppelin says:

Looks like me trying to catch a pass during my unhappy career as a high school football player. “I got it, coach! I got it!” (Ball sails over head) “Where’d it go? Where’d it go?” (Trip, SPLAT!)

  5. One Eyed Daruma says:

nice toof! it almost looks like he tripped and fell – poor dear. I can almost hear him sputter *oof*

  6. Laelya says:

I was just there with my boyfriend this summer!

The ground squirrel ‘town’ is too cute. I sat watching the exhibit for a good half hour. :)

Thinking of which, I should submit some photos too!

  7. Susan says:

How do we know this is not some ground hog yoga pose? Looks like it gives the spine a good stretch…

I second the poor guy looks like he stepped on a banana peel, and may be falling into a ditch. Just waiting to hear the *wonk wonk* sound..

  11. punkpie says:

Reminds me of the old commercial: “I’ve fallen….. and I can’t get up!!!”

  12. punkpie says:

oh man, Suzanne beat me to it :-)

  13. Quats says:

It looks more to me like Super Prairie Dog just encountered Kryptonite! Oh Noes! *crash*

…which leads me to ponder just what Lex Lutherdog looks like…

    Safe!!

  15. Kristabelle says:

Daytime Deb beat me to it! :p

That’s one heck of a belly flop!

  16. Dash says:

Looks this wee prairie dog has grown up in a predator-free environment. A little too comfy for my taste! The zoo might want to let a puma put a paw to ground for a minute or two to keep this guy on his toes for the visitors! ;-)

  17. DanS says:

It seems like he should be yelling “Spock!” in a William Shatner voice.

  18. Lyssa says:

    I love the MN Zoo!
The prairie dogs area always doing cute things like that :]

  19. victoreia says:

@DanS: rotflmao! I can just see that little paw, pressed up against the glass in the engine room!

  20. Karebear says:

Ok I’m apparently not the sharpest either. What’s not working?
It looks like this guy was probably just curled up in the hole, snoozing away. And now he’s getting a post nap stretch before going about his day.

  21. Blondie says:

“Dude, I was just laying here minding my own business, when all of the sudden this huge crater opened up and tried to swallow me! I tried to yell and reach for something to hold on to… I’m still not sure how I got out of there alive, man!”

  22. Amy says:

    He’s dirt-surfing! (BTW, CUTE!)

  23. Kar says:

Sinkhole!!! I hate it when they jump up at you like that.

  24. Thick as a brick!

  25. Ray says:

“Oh, right! Nose-first into the hole, not belly-button first”

  26. Ruth says:

    Love the front tooth !

  27. Sassafrass says:

He’s so cute! To me, it looks like he’s saying “SAFEEEEE!” after sliding on his belly to get to the last base, like in baseball!

  28. Rachael says:

    The tooth, the tooth!!! *thud*

  29. SEO Company says:

OK, I hate to make this observation, but I’ve seen pictures of prairie dogs that have been shot, and this kind of looks like it’s been shot. I really hope not though.

[This photo was taken at a zoo 2 miles from my house. You've missed by at least that far. - Ed.]
