Sneak in the Grass

Ensheathed within the dense jungle grasses, the deadly black mamba slithers undetected.  Silently, the cold-blooded killer glides closer to its quarry…

    C_U_T_E_O_V_E_R_L_O_A_D

    [...dotcom - Ed.]

  10. I had to go to the doctor this morning to be medicated for my CO withdrawal! This is much better than any drug. I wantz to snorgle my computer screen!

  11. Leslie (NTA) says:

    suggesh: “Impending doom”???
    poss. pleeeez. tankyewverrrmuch.whatev’s

[more like Impending Cuddles, but OK - Ed.]

  12. GingerBean says:

    YAY! for a new post!
I call Rule 23! Look at those knees!
What a beautiful pup; those eyes! they KEEL MEE!

  13. ahhhhhh *slinks back in chair*.. just what I needed..

  14. Snake-imitating has apparently worn the poor puppy out. He looks exhausted. He can nap in my lap.

Oh, and thank goodness for the Return of the Cute.

  15. Awwwww, that last photo just melts my heart. So adorable.

  16. Look at those Diana eyes in the first pic! Definitely overloaded me.

  17. OOOHHH! Just what I need for relief during a stressful week. Thank you!!!

  18. o…m….G!!!!! I haven’t been THIS dead from the cuteness in awhile!!

  19. MissKitty says:

The paws and the sleepy contentedness in the last photo are just too much to handle! *faint*

  20. I am extremely jealous of that woman since she gets to snuggle that adorable puppy and i get to pet my computer screen

  21. I just love oversized puppy feet – how comes the feets and earses are grown up size and the rest of them are puppy size – always amazes me.

    Thanks for the pix!

  22. The CO folks were out combing the interwebs for massive amounts of cuteness and boy, did they deliver!

Mr. Weimie looks complete exhausted by his snake impreshuns. Poor guy, it can’t be easy being that cute and that ferrrrrocious! :)

  23. OMG that last photo is deadly cute .. okay maybe snorgally cute.

  24. Dobermama says:

Aw, looks like a velvet puppy. I want to pet its silky ears.

  25. WANT! That last pic is too much. “And they called it puppy luuuuuuuuurve!”

  26. Reminds me of that ninja kitty in the garden. Complete with the Jaws themesong.

  27. Is that a classic Peanuts reference I detect?

[Oh hey, I hadn't picked up on that until you mentioned! Mike? - Ed.]

  28. Ooh it’s a Weimeranerranerbananaramapyjamafarmer Puppy. Nice.

  29. I love your pics. They are all so interesting.

  32. Second Picture Pup is all What you talkin Bout!

  33. I just got back from the dentist, and I needed this pupper for the pain. Thanks CO!

  34. awwwwwwww!!!!

  35. LunaChickFringe says:

Oh Thank GAWD teh cute is back!. I wuz gettin worried!

  36. Not That Mike The Other Mike says:

@Ink Asylum (and Theo): Many of my posts owe a lot to “Peanuts,” especially the concept of animals having rich fantasy lives. I do vaguely recall Snoopy pretending to be a snake in one of the comic strips, now that you mention it.

  37. He can prey on me any day ;)

  38. JinxtheCat says:

OMG!!! How cute is this……… thunk………

  39. Trabb's Boy says:

Oh, the look of love on that woman’s face and the utter contentment of the poochie! The first two pics are cute n funny, but that one is awesome!

  40. Kiki Willow says:

His belleh needs a leetle scratch. I volunteer.

    *scritch scritch scritch*

  41. Snoopy was a vulture too! (he’s all lookin’ down at Charlie Brown with his one eyeball up).

  42. Speaking of lurking in the grasses, check out Harrison the Box Turtle whirling around with National Geographic‘s Crittercam.

  43. ANY Weimie owner knows that it is ALWAYS impending doom- whether they’re creeping about in the grass or not. They could be sleeping like an angel on your couch…. and then they’re not… No, NOW they’re eating the heads off your father’s prized roses, or they’re chewing the toes out of your favorite slippers.
    Quite the appropriate tag.
And quite a beautiful Weimie-heimie specimine. I’d like to collect this one for study in my laboratory. ;)

  44. I iz puppeh GAH! that last pic turned me heart into mush….

I also seems ta remembah that snoopy liked to pretend he was a vulture skulking about.

  45. Those are some mighty big paws on that little one… Methinks that he or she will not stay small for long!

I too am thankful for another post at last, particularly one this cute.

  46. Mary (the first) says:

I want to be that lady (for one thing.. she’s beautiful and young and everything) but also she has that smooochable puppeh. I bet he’s all warm and .. soft and .. seriously when people say “that’s so cute it makes my heart hurt” I never knew what they meant before.. but now I do .. ::: sigh ::::

  47. Leslie (NTA) says:

….not to mensh (but I will) some PIERCINGLY ICY BLUE EYEZ in pic # 2 !!!!!!!

  48. gravyboat says:

    EEEEEEEEEE!!! THE TAIL!!!

  49. The tail in the first pic is all “Up periscope!”

  50. Gah! I HAVE been killed by the cuteness!

  51. Arrgh I am sooooo jealous of that person who gets to snugglesnorglecuddle that leetle grey critter :-( I want to squeesh him too!

  52. that must be his periscope up in the air

  53. Von Zeppelin says:

    (ominous “Jaws” music. . .)

  54. The look in pic #2 is the QMD: Qte of Mass Destruction….more powerful than anything ever unleashed upon the world. We are helpless against it. Pray for us.

  55. Today is just a day when I needed to believe that there were things this sweet and cute in the world. Thank you. Love Weimies.

  56. Wait, you’re jealous of the woman? Be jealous of the dog, it gets snuggled by a very attractive lady.

  57. Andi from NC says:

    …all tuckered out… zzzzzz

  58. What a cute baby! Wish his humans loved him enough not to mutilate his tail, though. Puppehs don’t want or need cosmetic surgery. Cuteness is inherent and automatic!

  59. Is it just me, or does NTMTOM have a “thing” for when animals attack? The vampire monkey, now the vicious weime? I’m just sayin’ :P

  60. is his tail supposed to be cut-off-looking like that? just curious.

  61. @Hyura – you know about “snips and snails and puppy-dog tails,” right? ;)

  62. “The tail’s a dead giveaway” was my EXACT thought before I read the hovertext!

  63. There are two photos that perfectly demonstrate to me the feeling of perfect contentment one longs for in life. The first is a photo of my wife and I holding hands just after our wedding. The second (and much cuter one) is the third photo above. That pup must understand how much he’s loved to go that limp. Just adorable.

  64. Adoraaaah…

  65. is that a teensy white tip on that tail??

  66. @theo: i did not know that. i’m kind of a fob and have no idea what that phrase means.

[There was a wink there... ;) ...like that - Ed.]

  67. wannadance says:

i thought the tail WAS the snake….i was understandably confused, briefly. then, doggie changes his course and in one of those time leaps, he is snoozing and loving the beautiful lady.

from any pov, i’d be the lady or the puppy. love in any species is still love…

and i, of course, love nomtom/ nom nom nom….

great mike, truly joyful. thank you. again.

  68. Yes, they crop Weimaraner tails…I wish they wouldn’t, but there you go. There doesn’t seem to be any standard length for it, either. I’ve seen tail stubs that were barely there, and I’ve seen them like 6″ long.

One of my sisters-in-law has a Weimaraner and a Doberman. The Dobie’s tail is cropped, but not her ears, and she is an unusual beige color that I’ve never seen before on a Dobie. In short, she looks like a skinny sister to the Weimaraner (who’s, well, curvaceous). Go to their house and the Dobie will push her wet schnozzle into your hand if you stop petting her for an instant.

  69. Cambridge_Rat_Mom says:

It’s tough being a snake these days, especially when Mom cuddles you.

  70. That is quite clearly the cutest little Wisenheimer EVER.

  71. Leslie (NTA) says:

    Questions:
    1) Is Jessica, she who cuddles the Weimie snake, or is that a different female hominid from the cute submitter?
2)Is this Snorgling Female Hominid acquainted with She Who Adopted the Marmie kitten from the other day (Jennifer)? If not, they should arrange play dates w/ ea other. Due to the Extreme Cuteness of the Mommies AND the four-legged bambinos, though, medicine for diabetic shock, should be available nearby .

  72. Love these pics!
The real reason for docking tails on the sporting breeds is that when the dogs are hunting upland game birds (especially in cut-over fields of old corn stalks, brushy river bottoms, and dense woodland brush) the tips of the tails become battered and bloody; often infected; then amputated. My two bird dgos (Vizsla and German shorthaired pointer) have docked tails and no trouble; my boyfriend’s English pointer did not; her tail was always bloody at the tip after a few hours of bird hunting.

  73. OOOps. dogs! poor spelling……….

  74. Actually you still spell WAY better than the Happycat I know.
    I suspect you’re an IMPOSTER. 8O

  75. Dawww! I want to change places with that woman!

  76. Naw, Theo; wish I did know ya All you Qte Overlords are amazing with the comments…I love them as much as the pics…and drat it all, being the aged dinosaur that I am, I still can’t get the squirrelizer to work for me! Howtodoeet?

[actually I didn't use the Squirrelizer this time - Ed.]

  77. LOL! too good! My eyes are tearing up..! Good Job!

  78. Squuueeee.

And Theo, don’t back out on the puppehs. More puppehs!

  79. Adorable puppy! Gotta admire the lady’s snorgling technique, too.

  80. that puppy is so cute

  81. My heart just skipped a beat. *melt*

  82. That third picture is one of the sweetest, cutest, most life-affirming things I’ve ever seen. How blessed are both the pretty lady AND the cute puppy to have such a moment. I wish that ALL our fur-babies would never know anything but this kind of love and devotion.

    *sniff*

  83. susaninMI says:

Snoopy DID have this very same fantasy in the Peanuts strip. That last pic is so precious, oh, if only they could stay wittle snugglepuppies forever . . .

  84. Teho – zomg. Too cute! I want to be surrounded and kiss attacked by puppehs.. :(

  85. Leslie (NTA) says:

    @ Hyura:
The phrase Theo used, is from English (and thereby/also American) children’s folklore/ sayings — from ‘way back (perhaps as far as from the 1800s):
“What are little boys made of? Snips/ snails & puppydog’s tails. What are little girls made of? Sugar/ spice & everything nice”.
    Have a great day !!!

  86. Leslie (NTA) says:

@ Edward– after *carefully* reading thru your note …..I’m gonna ask: does your spouse look @ CO’s comments lines also? If so, your ranking system *might* not create romance in your boudoir !!!! aka — you voted the puppies higher !!!

  87. Can I just say that I totally don’t mind “WeimOverload” (hell, maybe I should just start that one up myself…)?

Oh, and I hope those owners enjoy the adorable-pink-belly-stage of their Weimaraner, because it is soon replaced by the I-want-to-chew-walk-jump-bark-wiggle stage that lasts another 4-5 years. After that? They’re really good dogs.

  88. Felicityanne says:

@Leslie..it’s “SLUGS and snails and puppydog tails”…eek!

  89. @Felicityanne, not according to this:

    and this:

    http://www.quiltsjust4kids.com/item_2951/Snips-Snails-Puppy-Dog-Tails-Kids-Plate.htm

Though maybe it’s one of those things like some people singing “itsy bitsy spider” and others learning it as “eensy weensy spider.” Wikipedia even has a version as “frogs and snails and puppy dog tails”:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What_Are_Little_Boys_Made_Of%3F

  90. Fran in L.A. says:

When I learned it (about 50 years ago,) it was, “Snakes and snails…” I wonder if the differences are regional? I learned mine in Brooklyn.

  91. The only thing scarier than a fin in the water – a puppy in the grass.

  92. Leslie (NTA) says:

    @ FelicityAnne (wowwhataNAME !!)
Thank you. I sit, corrected !!!

  93. Leslie (NTA) says:

Actually, according to a quick bit/ Internet research (or reSOICH, as listed in the CO SOICH box….), yet another version, quotes “FROGS & snails & puppydogs’ tails”

    mamalisa.com/house/boysmade.html

  94. I finally figure out whom he reminded me of with the no-eyebrow thing going on…Whoopi Goldberg. :)

  95. Jenn in IL says:

I think it’s kind of rude to claim that his owners must not love him enough if his tail is docked. It’s pretty glaringly obvious how much they love him, as evidenced by that last photo. Plus, “his humans” didn’t dock his tail…it would have been done within a week of his birth, by the breeder. Just saying.

@HappyCat – thanks for explaining the reason for tail docking – you beat me to it! :-)

  96. Jenn in IL says:

Plus (darn, no editing button!), that whole sequence is just melt-your-heart beautiful. Thanks for posting it!

  97. I hope he’ll try to bite me.I just want to hughughug that little guy.

  98. Love the hint of puppeh belleh in the first pic! Love all the pics! :-)

  99. A patootie-cutie! So snuggly!

  100. Awwwwwww my weimaraner snuggles just like that last picture, the thing is that she’s a big girl now (only phisically) in her heart shes still a baby so because of her size she basically owns the couch ♥super adorable puppy♥

  101. Katie Kat says:

OH GOD… the toesies in the last pic with the earsies and the snoodle all tuckered out….. *FAINTS*

  102. Jenn in IL: Glad to be of service. Many people no longer hunt their sporting breeds, so I believe unless one is exposed to it, one really just doesn’t know why…although, I gotta admit, I don’t know why a Doberman’s ears are often cut and taped to stand up instead of lay flat…does anyone?

  103. Love that first picture. I’d so be saying, “Ohnoes! It’s a deadly, deadly snake! I’m so scared!”

Then the dog would help me not be scared. It works out for both of us!

*saddened because friends are now teaching their dogs not to jump up on the couch, thus less chance to snuggle said dogs.*

  104. *saddened because friends are now teaching their dogs not to jump up on the couch, thus less chance to snuggle said dogs.*

    ~~

LOl dont be sad, Ive been trying to teach mines that but the have no respect for their mommy LOL (Im secretly happy about that)

  105. Love the nail nubbins on the pup. And I dig his mom’s hairdo!

  106. ohhh. ok, got it. :)

  107. Ohhhhh~! The Weimaraner Commando Crawl! Mine does that too, except that she’s six feet long stretched out. I’m loving that last picture. I wish I’d gotten Hazel back when she was small enough to cradle like a bebeh.

  108. omg! i sooo want that dog!

  109. The Shazinator says:

For your viewing pleasure, Snoopy in the grass:

    Snoopy snake1

    Snoopy snake2

    Snoopy snake3

  110. Leslie (NTA) says:

    @ Shaz:
AND THE FIRST ONE ACTUALLY SAYS “SNOOPY=SNAKE/GRASS” !!!!!!!

  111. The Shazinator says:

Um…Leslie…huh? I’m not sure what you mean…lol. I scanned those cartoons from an old Peanuts book of mine and then added a link back to here. :)

  112. So well constructed. Kudos to NTMTOM.
Needless to say the pictures are undeniably delicious as well.

  113. hi,
i found your website from diytheme showcase and i just checked and i want to say hello.
    your website really beautiful…
with my best wishes, ersineser from istanbul Turkey

  114. Leslie (NTA) says:

    @ Shaz:

I was so jazzed by your link, that I was trying to answer quickly & so wasn’t clear.

As a friend of mine says, “Here’s the thing”. This present stream/ comments, is attached to a set of photos and its name/ headline specifically ABOUT a puppy who thinks it is a snake, squirming around, around the grass.

In the first of your links, the Peanuts HEADLINE actually states Snoopy/ SNAKE as the name of the strip: so I thought how amazing: 1) you located a Snoopy in the grass, and then that 2) just as these photos, the Snoopy strip specifies that Snoopy is TRYING to be a snake……as opposed to Snoopy just happening to be hangin’ out in the grass( in general).
Who would think that a Peanuts strip from 40-50 yrs ago would be avail which so precisely matches yesterday’s new photo, new puppy.
Anyhow: GREAT find that you linked.

OK, I’m done now, sorry if it’s too long-winded. I’m only just waking up (it IS early here, but just 7 am; the CO timeline is Pac. Coast & I’m E. Coast…)

  115. that last pic is great… that is one happy&content puppers.

  116. The Shazinator says:

Linda, I’m glad you enjoyed the links. :) Someone above mentioned that the puppy in the post reminded her of the Snoopy cartoons. I remembered I had those very cartoons in an old book given to me by my aunt probably 35 years ago or so. I scanned them, so others could make the comparison. :)

I love the old Peanuts cartoons. :D

  117. I can’t believe you still have those books, Shaz! I thought they’d be dust by now. lol
I remember them yellowing when you let me read them when we were kids. They’re a perfect fit for these pics though!

  118. muttluver says:

    HAHAHAHA awwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!! LUVS!!!

  119. muttluver says:

OK, that’s the last time I skip to the bottom to add a comment without reading the rest first…. I LOVE YOU ALL!!!

  120. The Shazinator says:

Seriously, Weggie, you’re surprised I still have it? (Only one book, btw.) What you should be surprised about is the fact I could find it! It was actually on the book shelf instead of being buried in a box in my storage room!

  121. AuntieMame says:

Shaz, my parents have (had) that book, too! One of my favorites. I’ll have to see if they can still find it.

  122. the one of him sneaking is ack so presh.

  123. I think this dog may be the cutest thing I have ever seen. I mean really. Really!

  124. awwwwwwww!!!!! your puppy is so cute! he looks just like a gray viszla puppy but he’s a wiem! so adorable!

  125. That tired little pale snakey belly is destined to attract a lot of ickles…

  126. The puppy’s expression as he’s being held by the lady …. complete surrender, total trust and feeling secure…. I wish everyone in the world could have a relationship where they feel like that and have the same expression as that adorable pup!
