He Followed Me Home, Can I Keep Him?

by Not That Mike The Other Mike on July 28, 2009

Pleeeeeease, Mom?  I promise I’ll take care of him, and clean up after him, and help him with his geography homework, and buy him video games, and get him into good schools, and teach him to drive, and start a trust fund for college, and…

Awesome babysitter, Alex B.

OMG Weims! I love weimaraners… they know they’re people!

2 Kar 07.28.09 at 6:03 am

They have the entire house and they’re cuddled in the laundry basket.

3 just1girl 07.28.09 at 6:06 am

Omg to cute!

4 Sheepy 07.28.09 at 6:09 am

I like how the color of the dog’s eyes match the kid’s shirt. Way to color coordinate.

5 Laura K. 07.28.09 at 6:13 am

one of the sweetest things I’ve ever seen!

6 Bonnie 07.28.09 at 6:14 am

“I promise not to wake him if we can go outside and play later!, really…I promise!”
LOVE it!

7 shannomo 07.28.09 at 6:18 am

I love the eyes, and the thumb sucking chubby little arm of the baby too. Pasickie!

8 Trin 07.28.09 at 6:20 am

Oh! the love in puppy eyes! squee!

9 City Chic - Jamie 07.28.09 at 6:22 am

Adorable! Can I snuggle, too?

10 Amy 07.28.09 at 6:25 am

I love the paw draped protectively over the baby!

11 jen 07.28.09 at 6:29 am

that is a REALLY sweet pic. BFF.

12 hon glad 07.28.09 at 6:31 am

No Weimar, you take him back where you found him, and next time you play fetch, a stick will suffice.

13 TracyFlick 07.28.09 at 6:33 am

very good big brother. :)

14 diddleymaz 07.28.09 at 6:38 am

one of my boys used to climb into the dogs bed when he was little but the dog always got out when he got in, so we never got this sort of scene, its so cute :)

15 Lerrinus 07.28.09 at 6:40 am

Absolutely Awwww-dorable! Love the puppy expression! :-)

16 ceejoe 07.28.09 at 6:51 am

awww…. almost makes me wish I had a kid…
NOT!
unless it was a baby goat :o )

17 Valerie 07.28.09 at 7:00 am

Very cute. The basket is soft great place for a nap!

18 Elena 07.28.09 at 7:00 am

Awesome!

19 Brenda 07.28.09 at 7:09 am

That is so sweet! Love that expression!

20 Theo 07.28.09 at 7:11 am

Well done, Alex B and NTMTOM. Well done indeed.

21 janet aquadro 07.28.09 at 7:15 am

Priceless!

22 Kit 07.28.09 at 7:17 am

Every dog needs a kid. But then they have to be responsible and take their kids for walks, and clean up any stray shoes (and chew them), help them with their homework (and eat it), and train the kid to come give belly rubs upon command. I hope that pup knows what he’s getting into!

23 fft5305 07.28.09 at 7:30 am

Ouch. My head hurts from the cuteness…

24 fft5305 07.28.09 at 7:32 am

Reminds me of Nana from Peter Pan.

25 varekai97X 07.28.09 at 7:35 am

That kid has a blankie, a thumb and a puppy? And naptime in the middle of the day? No fair! I want all of the above.

Also, bravo NOMTOM, brilliant captioning!

26 apotheosis 07.28.09 at 7:43 am

In b4 cartoonish, preposterous hooman-hatin’ nuffaloes.

Awesome picture. Love the dog’s expression, suits the caption perfectly. And that’s one happy kid. :D

27 Rocket 07.28.09 at 7:49 am

Awwwwwwwwwwwww! My Hazel-nut is ezaaaactly like this. She loves to cuddle up against me. ^____^ I love my Weimaraner. I don’t know why CuteOverload never posts the pictures I send of her…..

28 Mud Bug 07.28.09 at 7:51 am

“This is MY boy & you can’t have him, MINE MINE MINE ! ”

Our Rottie used to cover her milk bone & have the same look on her face when she thought the cat was going to steal it.

29 eastiegirl 07.28.09 at 8:12 am

Awww, both are adorable! Mommy, you should let him keep it! :)

30 brinnann 07.28.09 at 8:14 am

Rocket, they get a BAJILLION emails a day, and unfortunately they can’t post us all. :( I don’t think any of my submishes have ever been posted, either. Ya get used to it, though.

31 brinnann 07.28.09 at 8:15 am

Mud Bug, I may have asked this before (my memory sux), but are you from Louisiana?

32 Jimbeaux 07.28.09 at 8:19 am

Ohmigosh! To be that kid and feel that level of loving from a dog! *happy sigh*

33 Theresa 07.28.09 at 8:22 am

Those cool and limpid Green Eyes -
A pool wherein my love lies.
So deep that in my searching for happiness
I fear that they will ever haunt me,
All through my life they’ll taunt me.
But will they ever want me?
Green Eyes, make my dreams come true.

34 Theresa 07.28.09 at 8:28 am

@Kar, I live in a house with two floors and a basement, and a lot of times, all the inhabitants are all crammed into the same three square feet.

35 MOG 07.28.09 at 8:35 am

Our Weimie loves kids, will curl up with our grandson, let him play with her toys and just generally loves to cuddle with her people. She’s 9 1/2 and starting to get a bit crotchety, but like all of us, she forgets sometimes her age and turns right back into a puppy.

36 Kar 07.28.09 at 8:58 am

Theresa, I’m guessing it’s the allure of the warm laundry that attracted the pup although maybe it worked on the boy too.

37 Jessica 07.28.09 at 9:02 am

@ MamaDawn

haha I KNOOOOOW!!! They are SO people! Boxers too, they sit up on their hip all legs-crossed looking at you like, “What, you don’t think I’m people?”

38 the bug man 07.28.09 at 9:23 am

Every small child should have a dog. And every dog should have a small child.

39 ss 07.28.09 at 9:46 am

@ apotheosis:

And I was going to type: “gross. is that a child in that picture? that… THING makes me want to vomit. i hate children. i hate humans. NOT CUTE! it’s the duty of this site to never post anything so disgusting again.”

And even though I’m fully joking, I’m still saddened to realize that a sizable chunk of people on cuteoverload really think that way.

That said, this picture was so terribly cute. :)

40 Melinda 07.28.09 at 9:49 am

I love Weimies!!!!

41 Denise 07.28.09 at 10:00 am

Oh!!!!!!!! I want them BOTH!

42 apotheosis 07.28.09 at 10:04 am

@ss

“Eww, that dog is going to smell like CHILD now! SOMEONE CALL PETA!”

No babies, no hoomans. No hoomans, no interwebs. No interwebs…NO CO.

Can you imagine a world without CO? I can, but I’ve got a brain that would make Alastair Crowley poop himself. You don’t want that world, nuffers, so suffer the occasional man-cub. :D

43 cath 07.28.09 at 10:11 am

@ss and apotheosis: No nuffers thus far; why go looking for trouble? Do you want an excuse to eat pudding? No need; just dig in!!!

(But if you really think you need an excuse for pudding, here’s one: July 28 is “Sh-boom” day, i.e. the anniversary of the release of this song , a fitting soundtrack to the picture, no?).

44 Arvay 07.28.09 at 10:14 am

You silly people are over anticipating the nuffers so much, and there haven’t been any nuffers as of now. Why upset yourselves before due time? :)

45 apotheosis 07.28.09 at 10:16 am

Pudding, you say?

46 DaytimeDeb 07.28.09 at 10:27 am

Now that is cute!!! Love the Primates tag, btw.

47 Theo 07.28.09 at 10:59 am

Arvay has a point. (Hi, D!)

48 jackie31337 07.28.09 at 11:00 am

I think this is one of the sweetest pictures I have ever seen. Thank you, Cute Overload!

49 Jorden 07.28.09 at 11:01 am

Beautiful!

50 the bug man 07.28.09 at 11:04 am

@Arvay: True, but pre-emptive anti-nuffing sometimes keeps them away. So does Flit spray.

51 sunnymum 07.28.09 at 11:09 am

Gasp! Could NOT be more adorable! The rays of sunshine make weime’s hair look even softer and prettier. They have the most amazing coats, not to mention eyes, and personality, and grace, and…they’re just wonderful all around. :)

52 Kim 07.28.09 at 11:09 am

I can’t stop looking at this picture. I love the look on the dog’s face. Priceless.

53 Susan 07.28.09 at 11:11 am

now THAT’S cute!

54 Lillith 07.28.09 at 11:16 am

This is just so precious.

55 Kristabelle 07.28.09 at 11:38 am

What a wonderful photo! Dog-love is THE BEST. :)

56 Cecille 07.28.09 at 11:53 am

Oh, now that’s a gorgeous dog. And his new pet’s not so awful either :p

57 Blondie 07.28.09 at 12:16 pm

“See Ma, I’m sharing! Can I have a treat now?”

58 Blondie 07.28.09 at 12:22 pm

“Ma, the kid is in my bed AGAIN! What are we going to do about this?” “Nothing?” “Fine. I’ll just lay right here…”

My mother’s Corgi does this with my niece. It’s so adorable!

59 Copperbat 07.28.09 at 12:32 pm

Adorable beyond words.

60 Arvay 07.28.09 at 12:44 pm

Hi Teho! :)

61 Rachael 07.28.09 at 12:48 pm

Quite possibly the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. :)

62 katinarkit 07.28.09 at 1:02 pm

I love how “Pasickie!” has become a war cry of anti-anti-human-nuffers. Truly I do.

63 stphjay 07.28.09 at 1:10 pm

The dog’s eyes are creeping me out. Also, that’s not a baby…that kid looks at least 4…4 year olds are terrors….nuff.

64 T.U.M. 07.28.09 at 1:28 pm

“Bebbeh? What bebbeh?”

65 Adra 07.28.09 at 1:30 pm

Aww! My dog does this to me – But he’s a full grown greyhond and I’m a full-grown skinhead. It’s still the most wonderful feeling in the world, after you’ve come home from work, soaked to the skin from the perpetual rain, to flop down on the sofa and have a giant greyhound curl up around you as you watch TV and chill out from the horrors of the day.

66 tamera 07.28.09 at 1:42 pm

soooooo cute hope he knows what he is gitting into kids are hard to raise ..

67 Kirsten D. 07.28.09 at 2:00 pm

This. Is. ADORABLE. <3

68 Mary (the first) 07.28.09 at 2:24 pm

I don’t think that’s a laundry basket, it’s the dog’s bed and the kid tried to appropriate it. Pup decided to try to re-claim some space and is a little nervous about whether he did the right thing by climbing in with kid. Regardless of logistics, they are both beautiful.

69 Wordgirl 07.28.09 at 3:03 pm

Wow! I’m surprised no one’s mentioned this yet. It’s so obvious! This puppeh has found the AXIS OF SNORGLING all by himself! I didn’t know two-legged non-furries had them.

70 janet2buns 07.28.09 at 3:20 pm

@Wordgirl: Two legged non-furries DEFINITELY have an Axis of Snorgling, and it’s in juuuuust the same spot. You have to get to them while they’re behbehs though. Once they get old and spiny like my former behbeh boys, it’s too late….sigh….

71 5^^now8ing 07.28.09 at 5:20 pm

I think you’ve got the situation right, Mary & Blondie. The kid crawled into the dog’s bed, & doggie didn’t know where else to sleep, so tried to fit in with him. This is one of my favorite CO posts ever!

I, too, was expecting anti-hoomin nuffers. Maybe apotheosis did ward them off.

Rocket – I’ve submitted *very cute* pix of my babies, too, and never seen them here. But brinnann’s right, you get used to it. And CO is so awesome, it’s easy to forgive.

72 Laura S. 07.28.09 at 6:09 pm

@janet2buns: My 18 month-old daughter’s Axis of Snorgling lies on the back of her neck, just under her blond curls…it is as comforting as those that belong to my fur children.

73 Catanya 07.28.09 at 6:14 pm

Did anyone notice that they both have a perfectly round adorable belleh? SOOO pokeable.

74 Nibbler, devourer of souls 07.28.09 at 6:23 pm

How sweet. Absolutely adorable! :) And it’s not a laundry basket, it’s a dog bed.

@stphjay
Around kids much? that kid can’t be more than two; still baby territory.

75 Teresa 07.28.09 at 7:16 pm

The look on that dog’s face is “Lay one hand on this child and you will be MISSING some fingers!”

76 pyrit 07.28.09 at 7:28 pm

I can see the dog teaching him how to drive. “You stick your head out the window like this!”

77 kibblenibble 07.28.09 at 8:02 pm

The paw wrapped around is sweet. There are many mentions of the beautiful eyes, but let’s not forget the velvety soft earses on these beautiful doggies. That’s one lucky human babeh.

78 Jane 07.28.09 at 9:29 pm

Yay for the Weim love! My pup loves to snuggle when she’s in the mood. I think it goes hand in hand with the whole I-must-sleep-at-the-bottom-of-the-bed-under-the-covers thing Weimaraners all seem to have.

79 stphjay 07.28.09 at 11:19 pm

@Nibbler – yeah, I don’t have kids, but I often see them in the wild. That kid looks older than 2 to me.
I hope that strange eyed dog got full use of its bed back.

80 Mandy 07.29.09 at 1:28 am

Oh my heart is swelling up with love…

81 colleenincairns 07.29.09 at 4:06 am

Ok, this has to win a “too cute” award for sure !

82 happy dog 07.29.09 at 7:04 am

Very Nice tug of the heartstrings…

This picture deserves to be on a mug or calendar as a Favorite Pet Memory

83 John Masters 07.30.09 at 9:47 am

Absolutely darlin’!

This made my day.

84 Catalina 07.30.09 at 7:57 pm

Awww how cute ♥♥♥♥ My weimaraner Pili used to give me this same “it wasnt me” expression when she was a puppy, well she’s still a puppy but now she barks like a giant dragon instead lol

85 coffeegirl18 08.22.09 at 9:25 pm

Aww! That’s cute.

When I was a baby apparently Mr. Bojangles aka Bo (named after the Dylan song) slept in my bacinet with me a few times. He was just a small type of Spitz and had markings like a border collie.
