  1. WendyPinNJ says:

OMG! So funny. Especially the silly orang in a PFD!

  2. biscuithead says:

    invisible porch pic?

[Wups! Looks like a rogue Alt tag; fixed it! – Ed.]

  3. Why shouldn’t an orang have his own pet? Looks like a perfect match to me!

  4. chanpon says:

Love how the simian looks like a gummy grampa in this orangupost.

  5. A perfect happy and loving match

  6. 5^^now8ing says:

woo – hovertexts without a pic! Is this another new innovation to go with the thumbs? (purposely snarky tone meant only purely in love for Meg & Theo, who can totally point out the redundancy of “new” and “innovation” in retaliation)

The last picture: “He followed me home, Mom, honest. Can I keep him?”

Second picture: “See how cute we look together?”

  7. platedlizard says:

The story of an orang and his dog.

  8. yay heeler!

  9. Everything is automatically funnier with “orangu” in front of it. Try it! Orangupancake. Orangufloor. 🙂

How sweet they are together! I wonder if the orang has named the dog in its mind – remember Koko naming her kitten “All Ball”?

  10. serfer0 says:

    I like the second one.
Blue Tick Hound is all like,”My mom wants to take a picture of us for her stupid scrapbooking club. Sorry, Dude. She’s totally lame.”
And Orangutan is all, like, “Nah, it’s cool. Your Mom is super hot.”

  11. darkshines says:

I love how unconvinced the orang looks in every picture, lol.

  12. I love Orangutans!! Love it when the males get big, with their big faces, love those thoughtful looks.
And I am just loving that this lil orang is willing to go in to the water with its doggy pal 😀
    So cute!

  13. I love them. But I was expecting a donkey!

  14. Sweeda88 says:

I love the second pic. The orangutan looks almost human. Kinda resembles my brother. I KNEW he was hiding something! LOL.

[Uhmm… any chance your brother will read this? – Ed.]

  15. I love the way the orangutan is holding the dog’s foot with its foot in two of those pictures. If only I had basically four hands with which to pet my dog…

  16. SixFootJen says:

In the second-to-last picture, poor doggie needs a modesty tail. How embarrassing for him!

  17. How clever the orangie is wearing safety gear in the pool. He/she’s no dumb monkey.

  18. I love how Mr. O is so gentle with his pupper friend. 😀

This a better match than Milo & Otis. Remember that movie? A cat and dog as BFFs….hilarity!!!

  19. Aww! Orang looks so happy with his buddy.

  20. Ihaveamagicbag says:

    two words: Wilson Rawls

  21. the pic are so cute. never came across to such a cute collection animals. hatsoff!!!!

  22. haha.. nice pics.. humorous and real….

  23. earlybird1 says:

    Awww… orangadorabuhls.

  24. Katrina says:

Orangutans make me nervous. They are too close to humans for comfort for me. Blue tick hounds, on the other hand are just wonderfully accessible critters. It is just scary what we do to orangutans-they should all be happy and have a pet. I hope they are both happy, I really do. I’d love to know the back story. I will do some research.

On the ratings: I have rated, I admit it. And, as I am subject to the rules of this fabulous blog and do recognize that I have only a certain amount of crabbing I can do about ratings, it is like anything else, I can choose not to participate, if I wish, on any given thread. OK, ya got me, CO, I am adjusted to the new ratings scheme.

    Have a great Peep day!

  25. two of the best types of animals, together! so adorable. 🙂

  26. Rachael says:

    Orangusmooches! *mmwa*

I want to hang out with these guys!!!! How freaking fun would that be?!?! 😀

And I swear it’s just something in my eye. No way would I tear up over the sheer and utter adorabuhlness of such a friendship. *wipes eyes*

  27. I would name the dog “Ponder Stibbons.”

  28. but where are they? I want to go meet them! We need a backstory… pweeze?

  29. Birdcage says:

    Awwwwww, brotha from another orangumotha.

  30. Jezebel says:

OMG! Orangutans are my second favoritest animal!! And these two are POSING for pictures!!!

  31. Jezebel says:

PS @T.U.M Nice Terry Pratchet ref!

  32. This is totally excellent! 🙂 Reminds me of Koko and the kitty.

  33. Orang’s got a pet.

  34. Jimbeaux says:

Aww, very cute! Although I’m glad to see mr. orang has a life preserver on; the fat content of orang-bodies make it impossible for them to swim (they sink). Luckilly, he has a loving pooch and obviously some very smart human pals, too!

  35. This totally has already made my entire day better

(@doxnsox: and now I definitely want to go pick up a copy of Milo and Otis)

  36. Katie Anne says:

Love the last picture – for some reason, it has a very Sears Portrait Studio quality to it, maybe because they look very posed. “Okay, now hold his paw with your other hand… perfect! Would you like to try the ‘surfing in a swimming pool’ background?”

  37. Kristabelle says:

That’s just crazy!!! Looks like the orang even takes his doggie for walkies!! 😯

  38. ceejoe and others –

These sweeties are Roscoe and Suryia. They have been BFF’s since the day Suryia’s caretaker, Suryia and an elephant found Roscoe wandering along a road.

Suryia is a rescued orangutan and Roscoe is a hound dog. They became best buds one day when Suryia’s ‘owner’, an elephant and Suryia were wandering around the safari…out of the blue came this dog and he went immediately for Suryia, and Suryia ran towards him too.

This was a very atypical reaction as dogs don’t like elephants or orangutans and The safari guy was unable to find Roscoe’s owner and upon seeing how attached R&S were becoming to each other, Roscoe stayed on. Since this time 2 years ago (as of 5/09) the two have been inseperable.

There are really cute pics online & a video showing Suryia with her arms wrapped around Roscoe, Suryia taking Roscoe for a walk on his leash, Roscoe swimming in the water with Suryia hanging onto his tail, both of them scampering about, etc. It’s just very heartwarming

  39. Camille says:

@lisa – your link does not seem to work.

My first reaction was, “Oh, great, now my dog’s going to want her own orangutan too.”

  40. Whenever a set of pictures like this has no text between the photos, they show up in my email feed all concatenated together left to right – making for a really wide email. Can you guys do something about that?

  41. Sorry about the bad link folks – I didn’t have my coffee yet before posting here… ceejoe thanks for updating it.

  42. Too…. cute…. hurts…

  43. Thanks for the link, lisa & ceejoe. That video of the two of them is soooooooooooo adorable! (or should I say anerable?).

LoveLOVELOVE the life vest on the orang!

  44. and they’re here in the U.S.!! someday – when I find my rich animal-loving sugar daddy – I shall go visit them!

  45. Katie Kat says:

T.U.M. – Ponder Stibbins is the CUTEST dog name I’ve ever heard. I’m TOTALLY stealing it for our next dog!

[You’ll probably want to read this, then… – Ed.]

This is TOO PRESHUS! They are just like “What? We’re buds – why you starin?”

  46. Oh good grief, that is absurdly cute! Prepare to be flooded with visitors: I’m sending this to everybody I’ve ever met since I was 9.

  47. 5^^now8ing says:

Thanks for fixing the invisible porch pic, Theo! It would’ve been a shame to have missed it. Do you think people gave me thumbs down on my previous comment because they thought I was being mean? I only meant to tease a little – you knew that, right?

  48. 5^^now8ing says:

pounce – you’re so right — orangurug, orangubell, oranguroot beer! Kinda like adding “pants” at the end of anything makes it funny.

earlybird1 & Rachael: Orangasmooches! Orangadorabuhls! Too cute!

  49. Nancy (orig) says:

They look like an old married couple!

  50. I can’t read any of the comments because I’m distracted by the “Rate this” thumbs. 😦

  51. Overmann says:

I see what we call ‘humanity’.

  52. sunnymum says:

Another wonderful and cute example of two lovely living beings caring for one another. Sometimes its the clearest pictures of affection and love that strike the deepest. Sheesh, did someone dose my coffee this morning? Guess it’s just CO, rescuing my humanity once again.

  53. Eww, a primate.

  54. @Jezebel I was hoping somebody would notice!

(I work in a library building, and I’m constantly expecting to see orangutans.)

  55. DaytimeDeb says:

    Orangutan’s best friend?

  56. superboymom says:

Oooh! My favorit-ist animals are the Orangs! The one at the San Diego Zoo comes right up to the window and people-watches. I just LOVE her!

  57. Why shouldn’t one of man’s close relatives get together with man’s best friend?

  58. sunnymum says:

OMG I just watched the video! Puddle of goo doesn’t even begin to describe the state of my brain after that! So much love and affection and joy and happiness and good times and helping endangered species and big lovable man and and and OMG!

  59. This is REALLY sweet!!

  60. I ❤ this!!!! Totally makes my day, immediately sent the link to all my animal-loving family and friends LOL

  61. Love the pics, have to say it i really really love orangutans they are so human like lol and the dog is so pretty they make a good match
