How sweet they are together! I wonder if the orang has named the dog in its mind – remember Koko naming her kitten “All Ball”?

Blue Tick Hound is all like,”My mom wants to take a picture of us for her stupid scrapbooking club. Sorry, Dude. She’s totally lame.”
And Orangutan is all, like, “Nah, it’s cool. Your Mom is super hot.”

Orangutans make me nervous. They are too close to humans for comfort for me. Blue tick hounds, on the other hand are just wonderfully accessible critters. It is just scary what we do to orangutans-they should all be happy and have a pet. I hope they are both happy, I really do. I’d love to know the back story. I will do some research.
On the ratings: I have rated, I admit it. And, as I am subject to the rules of this fabulous blog and do recognize that I have only a certain amount of crabbing I can do about ratings, it is like anything else, I can choose not to participate, if I wish, on any given thread. OK, ya got me, CO, I am adjusted to the new ratings scheme.

Aww, very cute! Although I’m glad to see mr. orang has a life preserver on; the fat content of orang-bodies make it impossible for them to swim (they sink). Luckilly, he has a loving pooch and obviously some very smart human pals, too!

Love the last picture – for some reason, it has a very Sears Portrait Studio quality to it, maybe because they look very posed. “Okay, now hold his paw with your other hand… perfect! Would you like to try the ‘surfing in a swimming pool’ background?”

These sweeties are Roscoe and Suryia. They have been BFF’s since the day Suryia’s caretaker, Suryia and an elephant found Roscoe wandering along a road.

Suryia is a rescued orangutan and Roscoe is a hound dog. They became best buds one day when Suryia’s ‘owner’, an elephant and Suryia were wandering around the safari…out of the blue came this dog and he went immediately for Suryia, and Suryia ran towards him too.
This was a very atypical reaction as dogs don’t like elephants or orangutans and The safari guy was unable to find Roscoe’s owner and upon seeing how attached R&S were becoming to each other, Roscoe stayed on. Since this time 2 years ago (as of 5/09) the two have been inseperable.
There are really cute pics online & a video showing Suryia with her arms wrapped around Roscoe, Suryia taking Roscoe for a walk on his leash, Roscoe swimming in the water with Suryia hanging onto his tail, both of them scampering about, etc. It’s just very heartwarming

Oooh! My favorit-ist animals are the Orangs! The one at the San Diego Zoo comes right up to the window and people-watches. I just LOVE her!
