Cute Overload :D
Olive is hopin’
That her message gets through!
Photographer-Sender-Inner Rachel T. says “My boyfriend got Olive for me and he recently moved to London. Olive & I miss him very much. She wanted a special way to tell him.”
So the hammy is a consolation prize?
Way better than Turtle Wax or Rice-a-Roni. I hereby approve.
what an angel!
aww! my heart just went all melty!
Aww, daddy, how can you resist those paws, the teeny nose and beady eyes, such a sweet face?! Geeve een, come home!!
By the way, Olive is a great name for a hammie!
Awww, so cute! Poor Rachel and Olive. :(
Is Olive a Catholic or a Baptist ?
aw geez… getting teary eyed here at work…
I am such a sap.
Rate the idea of comments being rated.
How’d you like to find THAT Olive in your Martini?
You’d like it very much. :D
And now I will be singing Dusty Springfield for the rest of the day. :)
Oh. Oh. I’m reading Harry Potter (again) and I’m all weepy to begin with, and now this.
How will Olive know when Daddy calls? Will he speak to her directly or what?
Those pawsies are just too too.
What is with the ratings I see in other people’s comments? I give those a definitive thumbs down thankyouverymuch. Rating CO is like rating a sunny day-what is the point? What is the distance between a one and a three, why is the sky blue, aw, come on CO, you are better than this. Ronald Regan would be so proud as to have such a silly un-measure so widely disseminated. Remember his “from here to here” speech? Pul-eese.
[The ratings are new, and they’re about individual comments. You know how occasionally we get troublemakers? Well, see, now… – Ed.]
Those sweet leettle hammie-paws! Just lookit them! Awwww!
Tell me you’re not reading HBP before watching the film, Katrina! Don’t dooo eeeeeet!
She does a pretty good fish-n-chips impression.
So Kyoot! Love the beady eyes! :-)
Trabb’s Boy– I give your comment 5 ‘thumbs up’. In fact– I’m all thumbs. Thumbs up for Trabb’s Boy, thumbs down for thumbs in general. Why dilute the Cute??
[I get that you’re not speaking literally, but still, the ranking system only pays attention to one click per person. So folks can’t “stuff the ballot box” y’know. – Ed.]
Ack, I squealed out loud.
Trabb’s Boy- I commented your comment up because I agree with you… but then I realized that I should have just commented down because that was the point. It’s Tuesday. I’m tired, and the office staff has switched to DECAF because they’re SADITSTS!
But seriously. I come on here in a grumpy morning mood, view all of the adorableness, am cheered up, then *BAM*, a THUMBS DOWN. That’s not a very good chaser for my morning shot of CO!
I suggest only thumbs up! The more thumbs up you get, the more popular your comment (or whatev!) and if nobody thumbs you up, then, well… you get the picture. But that probably wouldn’t have the negative effect that a thumbs down would have on your day.
Thumbs down? Seriously un-cute. Please, think of the Kittens!
ceejoe, you’re no the only one. I also had to reach for a hanky to dry my weepy eyes after seeing this. Poor wittle Olive just wants Daddy home. Come on, Dad, what’s so great about London anyway? :)
Awww how sad… poor wittle Olive and Rachel…
and is that not the most adorable picture of Olive peeking out of the newspaper roll.. her face says Aherm..I have things to say people listen up.
Awww…..how touching ……how creative…….how cute a hammie!!!
Thanks Rachel for sharing the love!!!
Why don’t you keep the positive rating but ditch the negative rating? Nuffers will get the the point when they don’t get any thumbs up.
[Hmm… while I appreciate your positive outlook and generous personality, you have to understand that lots of people just aren’t as kind or as thoughtful. – Ed.]
Aww, poor bebeh, missing her daddy.
Olive needs to use her dictionary. No seriously, how is that for beady eye factor? Very cute.
I hate to be a nuffer, but Olive clearly has more work to do on her writing skills. The combination of upper- and lowercase letters is elementary stuff; she should have mastered that by the end of her first year of classes (which also typically covers Whisker Twitching 301 and Peering Out from Under Things 402 [with a weekly lab session]). Don’t even get me started on the backwards “R” and the missing comma.
Still, her work has a certain honest simplicity that makes it heartwarming. This reviewer hopes her daddy comes home soon so he can nom on her little eargies.
That is an adorable ra– mou– HAMPSTER!!
If daddy doesn’t come home and give a BIG hug to Rachel and lots of lovin’ to Olive, there is something seriously wrong with the boy. Very creative, absolutely adorable.
Yes! Kelsey & SoCalSis:
Why dilute the Cute!
Think of the Kittens!
Re: Theo’s note on Katrina’s comment #12 — won’t rating the nuffers & such down just give them gratification — trolls just wanta be noticed, and it’s better to just ignore them & not give them the attention. ‘Sides, it’s harshin’ my CO buzzzzzz!!
(OK, I’ve put in my two -er- four cents’ worth, & will now shut up on subject of thumbs)
Olive it too, Olive it.
I miss my little hammie, Peaches. :-( I am happy these wonderful animals reproduce quickly though! I think hamsters are the best pet for me!
Aw, look at that cute little nosie sticking out there!
after a long work day, coming home and playing with my pooch, seeing this adorable hammie, and previous snuggling bunnies, makes me content…..oh and this glass of wine helps….but how can you not love the animals…..*sigh*
i wish you the best Rachel and Olive.
Teeny tiny paws! <3<3<3hart<3<3
As someone who has had someone she loved move to another country, I find this very poignant. Olive is precious.
Olive is just precious.
Oh please can you make the thumbs go away for the Friday haiku? I won’t be brave enough to post my really awful haikus, even though its sooo much fun.
@Mark – there is no “P” in hamster, er… , (did I just say that?)
awww I just melt…
Can I haz daddee?
Awww, who doesn’t want to be her daddy?!
Argyle Donkeypants-I’m pretty sure we are talking ‘poetic license’ here-of Olive, in her grief, chooses to use a more primitive style, which I think she is doing for effect, I second it. Surely her prose is succinct, and the manner, well, child-like. She has a well-educated look about her, I’ll guess that the attention-grabbing prose, punctuation and style are quite on purpose, to elicit the most “Awwwwe” from said ‘daddy’. I’d like your ‘take’ on the situation. Grammarians, please, join in the discussion. Should hamsters be using the more primitive style to produce the most “awwwwe” from their intended recipients, or should they, as Argyle Donkeypants suggests, stick with the more proper use of English to convey their messages, no mater how heartfelt or urgent?
Hee, when I first read that I thought it was the boyfriend that Olive got for her. I could totally see Olive being a matchmaker like that.
@ Katrina & Argyle – *always* go for the awwww factor!
Love love love love!!!!!!
On the grammar discourse —
Perhaps Olive simply looks older than her actual age, & hasn’t yet taken the grammar coursework. She’ll excel in composition, with a few more classes under her little rhinestoned hammie belt !!
Certainly, certainly, Leslie (NTA), very fine insight, there. You’re sure you aren’t a writer, now? An educator, certainly. 5 cats: yes, always go for the awww factor, I am a true believer in this.
NO thumbs no thumbs! (Sung in my best Richard Wagner to the tune of “Notung Notung” )
