The many sleeping posishes of Archie

by Meg on July 9, 2009

Introducing Archie the Kitteh, who manages to catch Z’s EVERYWHERE! Yes, we should add him to the “Kittehs can sleep anywhere” post. Check it:

Archie 9 is my favourite, its a shame they have to grow up and can’t stay this size forever.

2 Sam 07.09.09 at 3:26 am

Really someone should tell that kitteh to relax!

3 cheesybird 07.09.09 at 3:27 am

I think I just deafened the neighbors with my squeeeing!

4 Heather 07.09.09 at 3:47 am

#2 is extra cute kitteh schnoozing spot….

I love orange kittehs…

5 Starlinguk 07.09.09 at 4:11 am

Archie looks like my marmie, who also has many redonkulous sleeping posishes. Perhaps its a marmie thang?

Reminds me of the first poem I learnt as a child:
Cats sleep anywhere, any table, any chair.
Top of piano, window-ledge, in the middle, on the edge.
Open draw, empty shoe, anybody’s lap will do.
Fitted in a cardboard box, in the cupboard with your frocks.
Anywhere! They don’t care! Cats sleep anywhere.

Archie is a teensy, weetle, bit of a kitten…soooo adorabuhls!

8 Rachael 07.09.09 at 4:54 am

Tissue box Archie just killeded me.

9 Nikki 07.09.09 at 4:57 am

Sadly, as evidenced by photos 6 and 12, it seems our Young Archie has fallen prey to that most insidious of feline afflictions – Boxaholism. Stay strong little man!!

10 J. 07.09.09 at 5:12 am

Okay, gotta admit: there are few things cuter than a wittle owange tabby kitteh, especially in a tissue box or sleeping on its back. (Would that be Veronica he is sucking up to?)

Re “kittehs can sleep anywhere,” that is SO TRUE. I just wish mine would stop sleeping on my laptop. (Or just resting on it. Sigh.)

11 T.U.M. 07.09.09 at 5:17 am

Archie! What a great name for an orange-haired boy!

And of COURSE he’s going to sleep in the neon purple-flowered tissue box. Marmies instinctively seek out things they violently clash with. It’s their way of keeping our rods and cones on their toes.

12 Amy 07.09.09 at 5:28 am

There will never be a need for feline sleeping pills. Archie, like all cats, you are a gifted sleeper and very cute while doing so!

13 chanpon 07.09.09 at 5:47 am

Does Archie want to sleep at my house??

14 Jezebel 07.09.09 at 5:47 am

I wish I could sleep inside a tissue box! At least I can wear tissue boxes as shoes. Sometimes.

15 Kristabelle 07.09.09 at 5:53 am

Archie12 is my favorite!!

What a cute little boycat!!!!

16 Sheepy 07.09.09 at 5:55 am

This might be tempting me to find ways sneak naps at work…or get a kitten.

17 Lerrinus 07.09.09 at 6:07 am

Good one T.U.M! Kitteh in the box is my fave! :-)

18 Em 07.09.09 at 6:18 am

I think this may be the very definition of ‘cutus overloadus’, primary symptoms include squeeling, sighing, melting of heart, and an overwhelming desire to plunge face into object and snorgle for extended perios of time.

19 Valerie 07.09.09 at 6:46 am

#9 Like he needs some java. He slept too long :) The tissue box with his head I would push him around like a little car. My cat loves that.

20 Gail White 07.09.09 at 7:41 am

Archie is very good at what we call “cat parts” (take the parts and assemble your own cat). A charmer!

21 Leslie (not the author!!) 07.09.09 at 7:44 am

24 tig 07.09.09 at 9:10 am

Awwww…. he looks just like my kitten… who I now am compelled to snuggle (such a chore, but someone’s got to do it… lol)

25 kibblenibble 07.09.09 at 9:11 am

26 Katrina 07.09.09 at 9:15 am

Asleep in the tissue box, I am also ovah-whelmed, I’m schvitizing ovah he-ah, I’m fatutzelled and ferklemp, I, I’m going to take a nap. Such naches, such kvelling…baby marmie in a tissue box…….

27 zeldapie 07.09.09 at 9:53 am

*Hi, my name is Archie, and I’m a boxaholic.”

HI ARCHIE!!!

28 DKN 07.09.09 at 10:08 am

*adjusts glasses* Is it just me, or does this Kitteh have particularly triangulary pointy earses?

29 Theresa 07.09.09 at 10:17 am

@Valerie, my little Mimi (RB) liked to put her two front paws into a box, and push the whole thing around the floor. It looked like sledding, or kind of a kitty soap-box derby.

30 Theresa 07.09.09 at 10:19 am

PS I suspect my main motivation, besides twoo wuv, for having animals around, is that they are so gosh darned relaxing. I am plagued with anxiety, and just looking at my boys in their crazy sleeping positions, or purring in my lap, and I just relax. As good as meditation or yoga, and faster.

31 skippymom 07.09.09 at 10:28 am

Yes, Theresa, ani-pals are truly the best medicine. When I feel my blood pressure is way up from anxiety, I just grab a kitty. Works wonders.

32 5^^now8ing 07.09.09 at 10:50 am

@tatayith – what a delightful little rhyme! Never heard it before, but must remember eet.

Pretty, pretty baby. Of all the cats we’ve had, we’ve never had a marmalade kitteh. Do… so… want….

33 Noelegy 07.09.09 at 11:13 am

What a sweet little creamsicle of a kitteh!

34 berthaservant 07.09.09 at 11:35 am

I do!! I love heem!!! But comments on EVERY SINGLE photo? I will be here all day!!!

35 Tigress 07.09.09 at 11:40 am

Wow, I think I’ve met my first real life Gumby Cat.

“All day she sits beneath the stairs or on the steps or on the mat.
She sits and sits and sits and that’s what makes a gumby cat.
That’s what makes a Gumby Cat.”

“She sits upon the windowsill or anything that’s smooth and flat.
She sits and sits and sits and that’s what makes a Gumby Cat.
That’s what makes a Gumby Cat.”

36 Theresa 07.09.09 at 11:47 am

I thought a Gumby cat would be green and stretchy.

37 Valerie 07.09.09 at 11:58 am

Animals are the best medicine. Playing is a stress reliever too.

38 skippymom 07.09.09 at 12:14 pm

Speaking of sleeping cats, I suppose all of us who live with felines are familiar with that morning stiffness caused by having to stay in one position all night so as not to disturb one or more of them. I could barely get up this morning because Eddy had embedded himself so deeply in my knees. I lifted the covers to see his baleful face giving me the look of “but I’s so comfies, how come you moving?!” God forbid our human needs (such as the need to get to our jobs) should interfere with their comfort, eh?

39 Marie 07.09.09 at 2:28 pm

Two pics maybe – twelve? Not so much.

Enjoy cat ppl.

40 Noelegy 07.09.09 at 3:14 pm

Skippymom, I know what you mean. My Gabby girl (nearly 15-y.o. calico) and Philo (2 y.o. spoiled brat) drape themselves around me every night.

Unfortunately, I have a small bladder. I must get up during the night.

They don’t like this, and they let me know.

41 Katrina 07.09.09 at 5:37 pm

I love this kitty! i just wanna snuggle with him. He’s just too cute. How can sum1 not think he’s adorable?

42 Katrina 07.09.09 at 6:31 pm

4got to add i luv archie 8 when he is in the tissue box. just..too..CUTE!!!

43 DaytimeDeb 07.09.09 at 6:41 pm

Poor baby, doesn’t have his own bed and must find new places to sleep all the time. Somebody get him a bed, STAT. Oh, and make sure you move the bed around as the sun moves across the floor. Otherwise we may be forced to contact the ASPCA.

/nuff sarcasm over.

44 Teresa 07.09.09 at 7:10 pm

GIGGLE :) I LOVE the number 3, 5 and 7 pictures of Archie all wrapped up in a nice soft blanket :) He looks SO comfortable there :)

45 Subhangi 07.09.09 at 11:34 pm

Sooooooooo comfurturbuhls. EVERYwhere.

46 Amanda b. 07.10.09 at 6:18 am

Orange tabbies are the cutest things on earth. Why yes, I do have one. Why do you ask? ;)

47 Rach 07.10.09 at 6:46 am

Aaaww!! Archie reminds me of my Noodle-Bug who went missing in Dec :o (. Miss him soooo much. But Archie is adorable!!!

48 Katrina 07.10.09 at 8:03 am

OK Peeps- we have two Katrinas commenting. Just so you know. What to do, what to do……….. I’m comment 27 and this one. I’m melting, melting, what a world, what a world………. Golden, is that you? How the hell many of us are on here? My ego isn’t strong enough for this-haaaaaaaalp! Well, maybe that isnt the problem, but still….I’m not budging. *SNERK*

49 Valerie 07.10.09 at 8:39 am

Reminds me of a favorite “Smitty” kitty I had when I was little. Aww.

50 Valerie 07.10.09 at 8:40 am

Maybe hes a sleep model.

51 5^^now8ing 07.10.09 at 9:02 am

@Berthaservant — me, too! Once I start comment-reading, I can’t quit. Part of the addiction, I guess.
@Skippymom — When my sister was about 9 years old (and I was 10), our Mitzi who had just had a litter of kittens, brought them all, one by one, under the covers in my sister’s bed. She (sister) had to call “Mom!” in order to get up, so she wouldn’t disturb the babies! We decided it proved Mitzi thought my sister’s bed was the safest place for the family.

52 skippymom 07.10.09 at 9:46 am

Katrina (the original)–we can pretty much tell the difference between your comments and the new Katrina’s. But for the sake of clarity, perhaps we should tell the other one that from now on she has to go by “Juanita”.

53 Leslie (NOT the author!) 07.10.09 at 9:46 am

Rach –

Multiple huge stacks of condolences on the missingness of a (doubtless) wondrous feline quadruped companion. All together now (GENUINE, here, *NOT* sarcastic):
Awwwwww!!!!!

54 skippymom 07.10.09 at 10:04 am

Speaking of names, Leslie, are you both Leslie T. and Leslie (NOT the author!) or are you two people? My impression is that you are both and you switch back and forth.

55 Debs 07.10.09 at 11:28 am

Will Archie need to go to boxhab?

56 Elisha B. 07.10.09 at 1:07 pm

Archie, Archie, Archie……what more to say;)

57 Kat 07.11.09 at 3:12 pm

hi im the katrina at comment 42 and 43 and this 1. and i will not change my name to Juanita skippymom because Katrina is my real name but i did realise that there was another person on this named Katrina (srry to the other 1) so i now comment with this name so srry again other Katrina

58 Katrina 07.12.09 at 7:01 am

Thank you, Kat. I was bound to get confusticating, yes? Katrina is my real name, and I understand why you wouldn’t want to change it, really. Do you get a lot of Hurricane Crap? My standard line is “I had it first!”.

So, Kat, welcome to Cute Overload, the world is now a more unconfusticating (or less confusticating, depending on which you like more) place.

59 Serena 07.12.09 at 7:13 am

Uhnnn I wannntt!

Sweet and fuzzy and cuddly. What more could you ask for in a kittie?

60 Kellie 07.12.09 at 7:22 am

61 Kat 07.12.09 at 8:18 pm
