I have an Eddie (although he spells it Eddy) and he’s a bit, er, light in the loafers if you get my drift. I’m sure he would love to have a tail pouf like this to wave as he sashays around the house.
Is this a library cat? That looks like a book cart in the background. Oh, and by the way, I think the floor just the other side of the book cart is on fire. Maybe somebody should look into that.
I’ll stop bitching about Abbey’s fur-wow, that is some dense stuff!
Well no, I won’t, but that IS some dense stuff, LOOOOVE the tail floof and toehawks-that must be a heck of a cat to [[[[[[[[[[wash]]]]]]]]]].
If Eddie still looks like this when basketball season rolls around, he could get a job as a pom-waving cheerleader; (nawt pom-pom, because he has only one….. )
Has anyone heard that somewhere they are actually keeping the fur from the grooming and trimming of these cats, carding and spinning it into yarn, and then knitting it into purses? I saw it in a blurb or something on T.V., but can’t remember where it was.
I always thought someone should put all that fluff to good use.
OMG OMG I loff him so much!! For our next pair of kitties, my hubby wants to get a hairless and I want a Maine coon! I would so shave him like this too, and knit a sweater for the hairless!
And Wend, I ran across a website of those ladies knitting handbags from pet fur once, but I don’t recall what it was. Fascinating. They had real life spinning wheels ‘n ever-thing.
LOVE this kitty!! He’s all like, rolling his ‘rrrrrr’s…’ and all.
And the Furminator!! OMG, I use one on my long haired, undercoat like a sheep orange cat and he loves it! I’m amazed at how much hair it gets and it leaves his hair all silky-smooth and then there’s just no talking to him…
- Are you nuts? I’m not a lion, I’m a cat…
- (sigh) Look, a lion is a member of the cat family, right? Right. So a cat is a member of the lion family.
- Yeah?
- Alright, it’s just that you ain’t fixed up to look like a lion. C’mon, c’mon, I’ll fix ya up…
Wend–
I’ve heard of doing that with dog hair. I was just thinking that with Maine Coons, it’s not shaving, it’s more like shearing, so I imagine you could do it with their hair too.
I am fostering a flame-point persian I found on the streets with horrible mats. He had to be shaved down, all except the tip of his tail and his front legs and paws. In some ways, he looked like more a cocker spaniel rather than a lion. But his tail fluff has nothing on this kittys. Is it true what they saw about the size of the tail fluff being equal to the size of other, ahem, appendages? Sorry, I know it’s a family show. It’s just a late night for me and my mind ended up in the gutter.
He is just too cute!! Love the splayed legs and the look of “What?”, as if he didn’t know.
My Persian’s fur looks like this a few months after she has been shaved. When I brush her hair I save it all and hope to work it into yard, something thin so that I can do some embroidery. She has such a heavy undercoat that I get two overloaded handfuls of fur nearly every time I brush her, although she is getting shaved in a week or so…which she just loves.
This is My Eddie and he WOULD have a beautiful full-on fluffy coat if he groomed himself, when he does not and he fights the brush. He gets mats something fierce. So, he gets shaved twice a year, but he LOVES it, struts around the house for days! He is a total and complete GOOFBALL, too. Luv My Eddie!
My former roommate shaved her cat like this, his name was “Aslan”, ironically. (he needed to be shaved; he wasn’t grooming himself properly was was getting to be gross.
My cat gets the “lion cut” all the time and when he’s outside people don’t know what he is. I’m actually afraid he’s gonna be mistaken for a bobcat or other wild cat cuz of the poof tail so I keep him close. He’s a very fuzzy and large striped tabby and looks wonderfully lionish in the lion cut, everyone loves it. He loves it, too. He know it looks good on him. Your Maine Coon is beautiful, very regal looking. Plus the shave downs keep the matted hair in check.
Love the tail and the way he’s looking back at you, schweet!
Toehawk! And the feetz!
Lovely, lovely, lovely!! The tail really sets it off and the look on his face is adorable!! I love when cats stretch out that way.
He looks like he’s wearing jammies! With feets! *thud* Ded from teh cute!
Oh my. That’s gotta be one floofy kitty in the winter, judging by that tail!
He is SOOOOOOOOOO handsome!!
awww.. he’s so cute <3
I wish I could give my kitties this hair cut but petsmart over charges wayyyy to much .. its like $70 per cat

Maine coons are some FURRY kitties!!!!!
the tail pulls the whole outfit together.

The vet I used to work for did lion cuts. Often, the fee included a charge for “sedation”.
Talk about yer buzz cut…
(SNERK)….Lucy has the right fur for that, but I don’t know that I could do that to her…
Haha…my mother in law’s cat has the same hair cut. I call it the “mini-lion” cut.
I did this for my Cat Sir – he always thought he was hot stuff but he wasn’t nearly as fluffy as this kitty!
OMG, I so want to do this with my part-Maine Coon kitty, ‘cept I love his fluffy tail and I’d like to keep its floofiness intact.
His tail ‘sploded!!!
What a stud! He and the cute little booty-bearing pug from last week should give sexy tushy showing lessons.
He is posing like the famous “Maru” and his box.
Tocks! “frog cat”!
Anyone ever use a Furminator on a Maine Coon? You can easily build a couple more cats out of the brushing!
Bow chicka bow!
Has anyone heard that somewhere they are actually keeping the fur from the grooming and trimming of these cats, carding and spinning it into yarn, and then knitting it into purses? I saw it in a blurb or something on T.V., but can’t remember where it was.

that cat has a really round butt
I’m laughing myself silly here for noticing hahahaha
I call “scrolldown.”
Rrrowr!
So *that’s* where the lining of my childhood winter coat went.
I never knew underneath my Maine Coon is Living Borg!
I love how Cambridge Rat Mom calls it an “outfit” ala Marie from Raymond. I use that term and watch my teenager’s eyes roll.
Andrea in Calif
I think this calls for a Cute Overload Extreme Tail Puff Close Up.
I’d love to get lost in his fur!
As sung by the Beagles:
“You can’t hiiiiide
Your lion thighs.
And your taaaail
Is a thin disguise….”

He’s all splayed out, watching you checking out his behind.
I highly doubt my own Maine Coon will let me get away with doing that to her.
‘tock-tastic pic
Wonder what he looked like BEFORE the shaving? Massive poof!

(snicker) Riot.
Now THAT is a tail floof! Haha.
Such a gorgeous kitty! That’s for sure!
@Andrea, try “little outfit.”
PS Especially if a boy is involved.

GIGGLE
That kitty’s face is saying “Touch the tip of my tail and you will get it
”
Argyle Donkeypants…thanks for the song. lol
You mean that cat used to have that kind of poof ALL OVER?! :-O
I WANT A MAINE COON. NOW.
Now I really want a kitty. Really REALLY want one…
His tail will keep the floor dust free.
but why did they cut him at all? Must have been a beautiful fur! The tail is totally ridiculous!

I want to get my Maine Coon girl buzzed for the summer, but none of our local vets or groomers do Kitty Kuts.

Classic Maine coon! He looks like a love pig.
What a great cat!
I never want anything to do with any other kind of cat, after seeing this picture. Maine Coons for life.
Ohhhh Megan I just bet if I held up a little polydactyl tortie kitten… one “meep” and you’d be done. DONE. (And so would I.)
WAS IT REALLY NECESSARY TO SHAVE HIM? (as long as he’s alive ._.)
Reeeealllly furry creature! Makes the fur balls at my house look tiny!
Angel, would YOU want to have all that floof in the summer?
