The Four Horsies of the Cutepocalypse

“Listen, loves — the photographer wants you arranged from darkest to lightest, so Redonkulousness, I need you to stand next to Nomming… yes, that’s it… and Snorgles and Proshness, if I could get you to switch places, that would be super, thanks.  Now, big smiles, everyone…”

  2. Elisha — yeah, just imagine each one has a fine tapering spiral horn…

  3. They’re all smiling! Happy ponies in a field of grass – I want to be there!

  4. GingerBean says:

    Pestilence, Wa—whoops.

    Pwnies!

  7. Virginia says:

I like how they’re in a very organized line of darkest to lightest. Cute AND efficient!

  8. brinnann says:

O Teho, you mean like dees? http://cuteoverload.com/2007/06/20/planet_unicorn_/

[Yeeeeeaaaahhhh... exactly like that... :P - Ed.]

  9. Alright you guys — get a haircut!

  10. Not That Mike The Other Mike says:

Yeah, I’m with Pat on this one — and get a job, too, ya damn hippies! ;)

Groucho, Harpo, Chico, and Zeppo, in HORSEFEATHERS.

  12. Christabel says:

I love the blonde eyelashes on the white one.

  13. B. Modern says:

These ponies remind me of the stars of PLANET UNICORN!
(Although there are only three of them: Feathers, Cadillac and Tom Cruise.)
If you haven’t seen them… check out http://www.planetunicorn.tv/.
    Brilliant AND funny!

  14. Why do they remind me of Fabio?

  15. I think the white one is a zombie

  16. Jimbeaux says:

Wow, this many comments and no one has said it?

    OMGPONIES!!!1One!! :)

  17. Why do they remind me of Fabio?

  18. alwayscataddict says:

Jimbeaux: I was just getting ready to say that!! ***stumps off to pout “someone always beats me to the good lines”*****

  19. Yup, they are sooo Fabio.

Super funny caption too. Y’know I know most animals are built for the cold, but I always wish I could give them a blanket.

  20. Don’t be fooled. The smaller the horse, the more attitude. Those ponies would bite your finger off if they thought it amusing.

  21. brinnann says:

If I’m reading it right, does that mean that this is the order they’re in from dark to light?
    Nomming
    Redonkulousness
    Proshness
    Snorgling

If so, Snorgling has been rolling in the mud!

  22. sunnymum says:

OMG! I literally clutched at my heart when this pic appeared! I am reduced to a puddle of goo. I cannot BELIEVE how beautiful horses are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. skippymom says:

Brinnann, I’ve been reading your list, reading the caption, and looking at the picture over and over, I can’t follow how you worked this out. Am I just inept at reasoning, or did you make it up?

  24. brinnann says:

“Listen, loves — the photographer wants you arranged from darkest to lightest,”
This is where I started, so I assumed that it would follow that whoever was placed first would be the darkest.

“so Redonkulousness, I need you to stand next to Nomming…”
So Nomming was already there in place as the darkest, and Redonkulousness was put next to him.

“and Snorgles and Proshness, if I could get you to switch places,”
They were apparently reversed, so their correct order would be Proshness then Snorgles. (And now I notice that I accidentally put “Snorgling” above.)

  25. Brinnann’s been doing her logic problems!

  26. Not That Mike The Other Mike says:

@brinnann: I’m impressed! I confess that I didn’t put any thought into the arrangement at all, but your breakdown makes complete sense.

  27. Katiedid says:

The breeze in their hair makes me think of Bay Watch.. get it BAY Watch hahahahhahah.. *Sigh* :-D

  28. Katiedid says:

LOL Edward.. yah I wouldnt want to caught down a dark alley with a shetland… those suckers are mean hahahah

  29. brinnann says:

  30. ØMG Icëlånð1c PØN1Ës!!!ëleven

  31. OMG – how beautiful and what a special photo but they do look a bit bored by the whole thing!!lol

  32. And for our next act, The Four Koalas of the Eucalyptus!

  33. brinnann says:

 OMG the url’s keep getting better and better!

  34. George, Ringo, Paul, John

  35. Trabb's Boy says:

Nomming becomes America’s Next Top Pony!!!! Sorry, but other three are just not fierce enough.

  36. temperance says:

it’s the end of the world as we know it– and i feel fine….in fact, i’d like to pony on up to the bar and celebrate…

  37. I love horsies! Sooooo beautiful.

  38. Von Zeppelin says:

Beatles are good, Musketeers are good, Marx Brothers are good. . .
But back in the days when men were men and helmets were leather, the Four Horses were Harry Stuhldreher, Don Miller, Jim Crowley, and Elmer Layden.

Send a volley cheer on high,
Shake down the thunder from the sky!

  39. jess e. says:

    @ Pheas – LOL!
A pony once bit my sister.

  40. Oh dear, the velvety lips are keeeeeling me.

  41. Ponies ARE attitude personified ( or horse-onified); my daughter once rode the smallest, cutest white pony in a horse show. He stopped right in front of the judge, and, er, defecated, despite my daughter’s most strenous efforts to motivate him. (You could hear the crop “whapping” all over the entire arena, but in addition to the pony-tude, he had the thickest white hair EVAR, so he never felt a thing!!) And we got it all on video!! Redonk!

  42. Cambridge Rat Mom says:

    equine perfection. so beautiful.

  43. What beautiful horses and a giggle-worthy caption.

Chicky82’s comment made me think of this: a smidge of apocalypse plus a dash of licensing ..

  44. Want! WANT!

  45. Defintely one of your best title/caption efforts, NTMOTM!

  46. catloveschanel says:

    Clap! Clap! Well done!

Now, insert the four penguins of the Apocolypse from the picture shown below, in between the horsies of the Cutepocolypse. The stark black and white ragged feathers vs. the horsies shows that good triumphs over evil, the light overcomes the darkness, and that maybe, just maybe… the sun will shine in Seattle.

  47. OMG PON1ES!!!!11!!!!!!!

    and…..best image title EVAR!!

  48. mervtheflamingo says:

    OMG Ponies!

[I know its been said already, I'm sayin' it again]

  49. MadameX says:

    Cutepocalypse?

I had a sudden image of cute ponies dancing calypso in midriff-baring, bright-colored ruffle-sleeved shirts (which, of course, would clash horribly with their complexion…)

    Or maybe I’m just weird.

    OMG!!!!1! PONIES!!!11!1!!1!11

  50. Raidell says:

Wow. Abby, you have made my day. ^_^

These ponies are absolutely beautiful! I love that while they are organized from dark to light, they’re noses are all the same color!

  51. AuntieMame says:

Eeny, Meeny, Miney, and George. Because Mama didn’t want no Mo.

  52. Lillith says:

    OMG Ponies!!1!!

But I’ve been lucky enough to ride on these guys, don’t call them ponies to the Icelanders, they get raather huffy and can only be soothed by pudding. The horsies however are wonderfully hardy and mellow to ride.

Oh just a tip, if you decide to do what I did and ride through the lava fields in winter, bring earmuffs. Just trust me on that.

  53. *Sigh* Just beautiful….that is all.

  54. Um, I think the horses are very nice but they’re not cute, they’re beautiful. There’s a difference.

  55. OMGEYELASHES!!1!!!111!11

  56. holligans says:

Arriving way late, but ye gods, Abby…thank you so much for that. Hi-larious.
And pyrit… “The Four Koalas of the Eucalyptus!”
and NOMTOM, your URL-abilities have reached astounding heights.
    wheeeee!

  57. Such beautiful friends!!!
Sleeping through the photoshoot- a bit rude!!
    Wakey wakey!!lol

  58. LOL! Robot Chicken had a similar idea!

    Apocalypse Pony:

[I think that easy-embed trick might only work with YouTube clips... - Ed.]

  60. OMG PONIES

  61. Oh come on guys, hair bands are SO last century…

  62. OMG the my little pony monster video is killing me too funny

  63. Snickering at the URL’s right along with Brinn.

  64. Subhangi says:

Adorable little hippie ponitos! If that’s the apocalypse, I’m soooo looking forward to it!

And Brinnann, you is are (OCD) awesome :D

  65. hon glad says:

As they’re Icelandic, they will be Snorglesdottir Nommingsson etc.

  66. I took this photo in Iceland. The arrangement of the ponies was accidental, but when I saw the group I new they made a great friendly cute photo.
Iceland is a magical place for a holiday but somewhat expensive.

  67. earlybird1 says:

Not so much cute as GORGEOUS, imho!

  68. Silly peeps, this is a barbershop quartet. They’re singing “Goodbye, My Coney Island Baby.”

    [Actually... - Ed.]

  69. Kristabelle says:

2nd photo of them is just as cool!

    Hey, quit horsing around!!!

  70. Lerrinus says:

The ponies are smiling for the camera! Awwww! So beautiful! :-)
(*groans* at all the puns and loves everyone of them!)

  71. Katrina says:

OK, I believe these are a barbershop quartet, just ‘wood shedding’ on an Icelandic plain. But, maybe Theresa, “Goodbye, My Reykjavik Baby”? I’d love to think that these horsies are serenading the world with their lovely voices and long, flowing (yes, Fabio-like) manes.

  72. marthava says:

This picture is just so beautiful. Such serendipity. Life is good.

  73. Why didn’t someone tell Dave to wash his face for this portrait?

  74. Mary Jane says:

Oh man, you think they’re cute now? I just got back from Iceland, and I guess the horses still had winter coats b/c their fur (hair?) was thick and curly. OMGOMGOMG – little horses whose shoulders were no higher than mine with curly fur. I almost died from teh cute.

  75. The first thing I thought when I saw the pic was a tide commercial…

    The competitor’s brand after 10, 20 and 50 washes.

  76. Is it just me, or do all Icelandic ponies look like Bjork? I think it’s something to do with the long, messy bangs.

  77. A boy looks at a girl, and a girl looks like a pony…

  78. it looks like a poster of some group.

They look so stylish lining up like that! XD

  79. I got to see some of these cute little tykes up close and personal last summer in Iceland. They get real insulted if you call them ponies though over there. Entirely beautiful things in person!!

  80. apsutter says:

Icelandic ponies are so beautiful!! Their hair is like freakin human hair! Doesnt this group just look like some kind of boy band…..backstreets back alright
