Weimies and chickens do NOT mix. Our three weimerainers felt duty-bound to keep the surrounding area fowl-free. Neighboring farmers didn’t much appreciate that…god, I miss them. (the doggies, not the farmers, or their chickens…)

I lost my half-greyhound girl Reilly today…and this was the first place I came for comfort. I love CO.
Though Reilly would have had her jaws around that chick in a hot second.

Oh, Sweet Scout, my heart just breaks for you. I am just so sorry for your loss. She loved you very much, and that never goes away, you always have her love with you. I beleive that any creature that can love has a soul.

WOW that’s cute. and hilarious. if only i could get my litte beagle/mini-greyhound mix to gently leeck my lovebird, instead of chasing him around the house…though i am more afraid for my dog’s nosicle than for the bird. he’s all, “just try it…JUUUUUST try it!” i tend to separate them when the birdy is out.
p.s. “lick my lovebird”…sounds a bit wrong.

Sweet Scout…so sorry to hear about your sweet Reilly. It hurts to lose a treasured friend, but eventually the pain fades and the happy memories remain. Actually it is an Aracana Chicken about 8 weeks old.
They lay eggs that are in the blue to green color palate and are prolific egg layers.
now i finally know “why the chicken crossed the road”!

Thanks to all for your kind words about Reilly. My daughters and I celebrated her 10 years with us as well as our Perfect Kitty ™ Malcolm’s 3rd birthday tonight.
BTW, Reilly’s big bro’s name was Theo…and THAT was a magnificent dog.

it is most definitely a chicken. A chicken in its ugly teen stage but yes, a chicken. Chicks go from fluffy cute to a molt/adult feathers are growing in stage where they are very awkward looking.

Anne..pasickie (or Pahsikie or however you spell it) is a reference to a previous post on CO (Theo or NTMTOM..help with a link please) in which an adorable tike is sitting in his highchair and his Mom is offering him a popsicle and asks him what he wants and he says “pasickie”. It is an adorable post, although it attracted a lot of nuffing from the “no-humans-on-CO” crowd. Since then “pasickie” has been used in the comments espcially when there is nuffing about cute human babies, or any other babies, or when people feel like using a cute word for the cute on CO, etc. Hope that clears it up.

Oh please. There are so many more harmful habits than chicken licken’. What’s the worst that can happen? The chicken gets a little wet. The dogs eyes roll back in ecstasy. A human takes a picture. No one really gets hurt. ~shrug~
LOL oh I know my Chickons, we have them.. Strictly for egg laying and eating bugs around the yard.. And they are darned cute too let me just say. By the way in another two to three weeks that liitle hen will be gorgeous and fully feathered with adult feathers.
Also I believe they are training the dog that the chickon is not for eating or chasing. and that is a good thing other wise the hen would be toast pretty fast.
As to PA-sickie I love that term. IT makes me smile every time some one uses it. but that is just because I miss a good pudding fling.
And Sweet Scout (((Hugs)) IT is heart breaking to lose a pet .. They are so much more than that in the family.
@lemurland – Harmless? Pshaw! What are you, some kind of shady chicken hawker? You know full well, don’t you, that lickin’ chickens leads to soft kronschin’ robins, and next thing you know, you’re in a back alley injecting pigeons into your veins. (Don’t ask how that’s possible; I wouldn’t know. But I heard it on the internet, so it must be true. Desperate dogs will do anything for a fix). The chicken hawkers must be stopped!
