I believe it’s the only Cartoon Law of Physics that applies equally in real life: A cat will take the shape of its container.
Cats actually exist in a different dimension, so they can alter their physical manifestation in this dimension to fit any size space. Either that, or they’re just really good at sucking in their guts.
