This Is My Favorite Sunday Brunch

by Not That Mike The Other Mike on February 15, 2009

"Ah just loves the dee-cor in this tea room, and the finger sandwiches are simply dee-vine, ah sweah!"

Although the 'alien face hugger' pattern is a little creepy.

Can I freshen up that coffee, Moomin K.?

Ah do delclarah, This is the best buttah cookie I’ve tasted in yeahrs.

Perhaps this afta-noon, we might sit on the veranda, and we could sip some lovely mint juileps.

9 lauren 02.15.09 at 8:43 pm

oh…my…GOSH!

10 Mikeyfur 02.15.09 at 8:47 pm

I thought rattie, too. I’m glad to see some rats and mice on CO. Rats are particularly good pets. Very smart and loving. And very cute.

11 Malinki 02.15.09 at 9:07 pm

Theresa’s absolutely right, that’s an adorable leetle ratty, which make WONDERFUL pets.

15 stephanie 02.15.09 at 9:26 pm

“Mice are not cute.”

Good thing it’s a rat, then. :D
I adore pet rats. They are so sweet and they make such cute faces!

16 Patito Gigante 02.15.09 at 9:42 pm

Kiss me, you fool.

17 Paunchie 02.15.09 at 9:58 pm

beep beep!

18 Yushi 02.15.09 at 10:20 pm

I could have sworn that’s a teddy bear hamster… But either way that’s a rodent, so it’s fine with me <3
What a tiny cookie too!

19 itsmemom 02.15.09 at 10:25 pm

Took me a second to get the “alien face hugger thingy” So…DON”T EAT THAT CARROT. It will give you terrible indigestions.

20 MyBirdRAWKS 02.15.09 at 10:49 pm

Alien face-hugger – ha ha ha!!!! I love you guys.

21 Kellie 02.15.09 at 10:58 pm

I love ratties, too! I do believe, due to observations of ear-fluffage, not common in ratties, that this is a hamster. I was fooled at first, too! An impostar! :D Still cute, still a rodent! :)

Mouse, rat, hamster. . . can these guys tell each other apart? That would seem more important for them than for CO commenters.

24 Cambridge Rat Mom 02.16.09 at 12:25 am

I love the ratties. They are so neat and tidy. Who couldn’t LOVE that face?

25 Cambridge Rat Mom 02.16.09 at 12:28 am

That’s a rat. I recognize the delicate, beautiful little hands and that mouth. >o<

26 BB/VA 02.16.09 at 12:47 am

27 Tractatus Blorpico-Philosophicus 02.16.09 at 1:05 am

28 Emma 02.16.09 at 1:49 am

What a delightful little ratty!

29 Heather in Oregon with the seven baby kittens 02.16.09 at 1:55 am

I use to have a rat as a pet, she was a wonderful companion. Its so sweet to see one enjoying a little nom action!

Great, now I’m imagining a teeny little face-hugger, and the little alien that would result. Heehee…

40 berthaservant 02.16.09 at 4:59 am

That is a very beautiful rat. What awesome shadings in the fur.

(“Not cute.” Hmpf.)

41 Shannon 02.16.09 at 6:17 am

More cute rattie pics! Keep ‘em coming and showing the world how wrong they are!!! (Now if we could just up the possum ratio around here, it’d be damn near perfect)

42 moominkomet ( knittingskwerlgurl) 02.16.09 at 6:50 am

Right after the tea party, off to the latest art showing at the gallery next door, then to a poetry reading. My goodness, this little one has a busy social schedule. ;)

44 moominkomet ( knittingskwerlgurl) 02.16.09 at 6:56 am

Um he is a hamster, not a rat. He is 6 months old and his name is Virgil the poet. :) I’m his mom, Knittingskwerlgurl.

45 Hon Glad 02.16.09 at 7:17 am

Ah don’t watch the calories all the time have an eclair.

46 Poohbear 02.16.09 at 7:25 am

Bravo to those who recognized a hammie!
Hi, Virgil’s mom, cute hammie boy and lovely pictures.

47 Malinki 02.16.09 at 8:14 am

Is Virgil sure of who his parents are? Lookin’ awfully ratty…

Which is a good thing.

48 JB 02.16.09 at 8:56 am

What’s Virgil munching on? A trilobite fossil?

49 Annie 02.16.09 at 8:58 am

Dear Virgil’s Mom please give Virgil a kiss and tell him not to eat too much moon pie.

HE is cute as can be!

50 flo 02.16.09 at 9:06 am

Virgil is a hammie, not rattie, and one of the most beautiful ones I`ve ever seen.
To convince yourselves, watch his photos here:

51 Supermunchie 02.16.09 at 9:08 am

Sweet Virgil, who deserves to be on Cute Overload!
And yes, he is a hammie everyone ;)

52 thatdaveguy 02.16.09 at 9:10 am

he’s wondering where the rest of this wonderful food is :)

53 Malinki 02.16.09 at 10:27 am

I still think Virgil looks more like the milkman.

54 Von Zeppelin 02.16.09 at 1:01 pm

Thanks for clearing up this rat-hamster question by telling us Virgil’s name. A rat could never have written the Aeneid. Pharsalia, maybe.

55 Cambridge Rat Mom 02.16.09 at 1:14 pm

OK, so it’s not a rat….

56 Katrina 02.16.09 at 3:44 pm

Von Zeppelin, please tell me you will always stay with us.
I have a crush on you. “Pharsalia, maybe”- niiice.

I’m pretty sure the hamster could translate, though.

57 Theresa 02.16.09 at 3:50 pm

Knittingskwerlgurl, he is absolutely precious!

58 Von Zeppelin 02.16.09 at 4:24 pm

@Katrina–how very flattering, dear lady. Nice to know that all these years of being a classical languages nerd were not wasted.

59 Poohbear 02.16.09 at 5:01 pm

Count VZ, I concur : got my daily dose of endorphins today from your comment above. It’s brilliant.

60 Annie 02.16.09 at 5:08 pm

Well now I have a crush on you too Von Zeppelin

61 Jezebella 02.16.09 at 5:25 pm

Virgil is such a cute hamster!

62 Theresa 02.16.09 at 5:40 pm

Hey, my cat is Dante. That means he follows Virgil around.

63 Theresa 02.16.09 at 5:40 pm

PS:
Lasciate ogni speranza, voi ch’entrate.

64 Lerrinus 02.16.09 at 6:58 pm

I loved the other pics too, knittingswerlgurl, nicely done! :-)

65 Lydia 02.16.09 at 7:15 pm

Basic rule of thumb – rats have nekkid ears. And, no thumbs. Unless they are verrrry old males, which leads to the development of thumb stubs. Never mind – just look at the ears :D

66 kibblenibble 02.17.09 at 2:18 am

My brother’s middle name is Virgil. He always hated it. I should send him this. He’d really love having the same name as a hamster. Heehee. :D

67 Humane Mewsings 02.17.09 at 2:25 am

I don’t understand how people can think they are gross — Domesticated rats/mice are so cute – and very smart!

So cute!!

68 Ant 02.17.09 at 3:18 am

LOL @ Facehugger comment.

69 darling duck 02.17.09 at 3:21 am

I guess I’m the only one who loves the dee-cor. Must have the fabric, and hammie is the perfect little guest for tea…any time. Looking for recipe for tofu tidbits…

70 BostonBunny 02.17.09 at 5:05 am

I was just going to write about that! The unbelievable proshness of the muzzelpouches; the soft, pink, moist nozzicles; and the glowing food and fabric! A wonderful photo as well as a ham to dy for!

71 Katrina 02.17.09 at 12:26 pm

Theresa, you KNOW I have a girl-crush on you, right??

What wonderful things “The Cute” brings out in us!

Have a wonderful day, Peeps everywhere!

72 Hambone 02.17.09 at 4:25 pm
