5 Jimbeaux 02.18.09 at 9:31 pm

Most adorable hedgie pics ever. I think I shall swipe him and make him some nice tea. *swipe*

6 Jen 02.18.09 at 9:31 pm

he looks a lot happier about baths than MY hedgie ever looks. I would be happy if mine would just stop going to the bathroom in the water, lol!

7 scoobie 02.18.09 at 9:35 pm

that last hoover text cracks me up

8 Gail (the first one) 02.18.09 at 9:37 pm

“I’m going to take a bath.”
“I’ll alert the media.”

9 Katt! 02.18.09 at 9:38 pm

I adore his convo with the DryDry700 <3

10 Poohbear 02.18.09 at 9:46 pm

11 Kar 02.18.09 at 9:59 pm

How do you “set” a hedgehog?

And love the old Arthur reference.

12 carol m. 02.18.09 at 10:12 pm

Best… hedgie post…ever!! (Do his spikes squeak when they’re this clean? I wonder…)

13 AuntieMame 02.18.09 at 10:21 pm

Gail, I’ve heard that before, but I can’t place where?

Now I’m going to be seeing a swimming hedgie, and hearing motorboat sounds, in my head all afternoon.

PBPPBPBPPBPBBBPBBBPPPPBPBPB!!!

14 Gail (the first one) 02.18.09 at 10:28 pm

@AuntieMame: It’s from “Arthur” (Dudley Moore, Sir John Gielgud). One of my all time favorite lines….

15 scooterpants 02.18.09 at 10:40 pm

COL has given me the gift of Hedgie-Hog luff.
I never really cared much about them before, but now I am a huge fan of the Hedgie (of course I do not have to have one) but the second pic here makes me think twice about that.
could anything be more adorable then looking over the edge of the sink! I think NOT! Thanks COL!

16 Joy 02.18.09 at 11:20 pm

Seeing these pictures makes me long for another hedgie. My last one died a year ago and lately, I’ve been thinking of hedgies. I miss them so much but have to content myself by looking at hedgie pictures. This hedgie definitely likes baths much more than mine ever did. Bathing hedgies was an adventure and left me wet more than once.

17 chanpon 02.18.09 at 11:22 pm

Because I just noticed the hovertext in the last pic, I used to own the DryDry 1200 – no kidding!

Oh my……

We have hedgies in our garden. We bought them a little hedgie-house, and put out kitchen scraps for them. If I make pasta with cheese, they’ll lick the pasta clean but leave the noodles. Our garden centre also sells hedgehog kibble, which they really like (though not as much as they like mealworms). One of them is hibernating under a big pile of crap I meant to get rid of last year…looks like I’ll be waiting until the spring to do that.

In short, I love hedgehogs.

26 Kimberly 02.19.09 at 12:56 am

My hedgie is a dirty little bugger who embraces his filth and is NOT a fan of baths. He sort of has a bad attitude but it just makes me love him all the more.

27 Mike G. 02.19.09 at 1:57 am

All Hedgie Cuteness aside, I cannot believe that a hairdryer has the name of DryDry. That would have been one heck of a board meeting.

28 Humane Mewsings 02.19.09 at 1:59 am

Awwww, hedgehogs are adorable to begin with. Add a bath and a fluff? PRECIOUS!

29 sall 02.19.09 at 2:09 am

How did that fug lady get on the side again? Down with her!

30 Jill-e-b 02.19.09 at 2:31 am

I’ve never seen a hedgehog with such squeaky-clean little quills.
I want to beep his little beady nose. Seeing him next to the DryDry (stupidest blow-dryer name I’ve ever heard) you can appreciate how teeny he his. I want one!

31 kibblenibble 02.19.09 at 3:01 am

This hedgie is doggone cute. As I’ve never made aquaintance with a hedgie, I have some questions: Can they swim? (looks like!) What are their personalities like? Thanks to anyone who can answer! 8-)

32 totalee puppy 02.19.09 at 3:07 am

Edward, what great information about your
hedgehogs…really enjoyed
learning so much.

33 Rhonda 02.19.09 at 3:56 am

PEEKING OUT OF THE SINK FTW

I also love the name DryDry700.

34 Subhangi 02.19.09 at 5:05 am

I love pic #2 – Peeky McPeekersons!!!

Adorable hedgie!

35 Hon Glad 02.19.09 at 7:05 am

May I recommend some sculpting wax for your quills sir.

36 Marie 02.19.09 at 7:12 am

That second shot is priceless!

37 MeLikeyCuuute 02.19.09 at 7:40 am

His beadiness is adornable

38 Fish Tank Aquariums 02.19.09 at 9:39 am

oh how cute. I just love cute pictures of cute pets. I also collect pictures of my pet fishes. I just can’t get enough of taking pictures of them.

39 Katrina 02.19.09 at 12:08 pm

That is one wicked loofa.

40 Marge 02.19.09 at 1:59 pm

I made a model hedgehog went I was little… whatever happened to it?

Love this swimming hedgie, clearly needs goggles though ;)

41 emudoug 02.19.09 at 2:10 pm

I’m not sure what to do with hedgehogs. I really want to cuddle them, but that would hurt, so i sort of just curl myself into a ball and squee (metaphorically) whenever i see cute pics like this.

i want to meet a hedgehog.

42 totalee puppy 02.19.09 at 2:13 pm

Harrison: “When your Beadiness is ready, I have
brought your warm terry robe and your breakfast tray. Cook has prepared a
mealworm omelet especially for you.”

43 totalee puppy 02.19.09 at 3:11 pm

Yes, I know…blecccchhhhh.

44 P.L. Frederick 02.19.09 at 3:40 pm

That second picture, with the face peeking out of the sink, looks a lot like Toto in a fancy hat.

45 Theresa 02.19.09 at 3:43 pm

“Shall I wash your . . . quills for you, Sir?”

46 Katrina 02.19.09 at 4:30 pm

Yes, Theresa, that would be fine, thank you. Mind you- careful in the earsises, too.

47 Joy 02.19.09 at 6:43 pm

knibblenibble – hedgies are unique. Some hedgies have great personalities, others have no personalities but most don’t show affection like a dog will. As for handling them, I use a towel or a hedgie blankie to pick them up and cuddle with me. Hedgies are contented to be wrapped up and suck the warmth out of you during cuddle time. They do make good lap pets – all they do is sleep. Another thing to keep in mind is that hedgies are poop machines – it’s amazing how much poop they produce and it stinks to high heaven. You have to clean their cages every day and keep a generous supply of hedgie bags and blankies for them to snuggle up. A heating pad on low under their cages provide constant warmth. Hedgies does have a way of worming their way into your heart and you either love them or are indifferent to them. They are fairly high maintainence and best for people with patience and willingness to care for them daily. Expensive pets, hard to find and they do require an exotic vet or 2 who has experience with hedgehogs. After 8 hedgehogs over a 8 year period, I finally was worn down from the frequent, disabling illnesses hedgies are prone to and decided a dog was in order for my next pet. Hedgies do have a lot of health problems and that can be dispiriting. I love hedgies, problems and all. Maybe in a few years I’ll try again with another hedgie.

48 jen 02.19.09 at 8:09 pm

this is the cutest hedgie ever

49 Jen2 02.19.09 at 9:47 pm

Joy, thanks so much for the info. I have been thinking about getting a hedgie for a while now, but my life may be a bit too busy for a more high maintenance pet….I am glad I found that out NOW. I also was unaware that they were prone to certain diseases, though it makes sense, as certain diseases are common in certain species. But thanks so much for the knowledge! <3

Oh, and that was some serious adorable-ness and beadiness….

50 berthaservant 02.19.09 at 10:25 pm

I always think of Alice in Wonderland when I see the hedgies.

51 Jen 02.19.09 at 10:55 pm

Awww, this is so cute! I want a Hedgie Wedgie.

52 girlatastartup 02.19.09 at 11:44 pm

Never have I wanted a hedgehog as a pet. Until now.

53 kibblenibble 02.20.09 at 5:01 am

Thanks, Joy!

54 Leonila 02.21.09 at 12:09 am

It is weird. I don’t like its hair…but I like the bathing idea.

55 hmstrjam 03.01.09 at 4:05 pm

i love this!!
