Just Call Me Whirlpool, Pal

We all knew cats were self-cleaning, but this one even comes with a spin cycle.  Kitty starts off moist, and ends up moist… and dizzy.

Whoa, make the room stop spinning, Hlavinkas

    It’s like a washer & dryer!

  2. anon says:

Looks like the tail still has a death grip on Mylo’s butt!

  3. Meriweather says:

Oh, dear, Mylo. How many nips of that beer have you had?

  4. Seren says:

I had a kitty who used to do that. She’d try and run away from the horrible thing that was stuck to her beam end! That kitty is very pretty and floofy.

I’d make a lousy youtuber-er, as I’d be too busy cuddling kitty dry and comforting her. Poor dizzy kitty!

  5. Summieg says:

I like that you can hear the wet tail slap on the wall.

    Crazy puss.

  6. Seren says:

Darn, I was furst (I know first!) when I was writing my comment. Sigh. Vi, Meriweather and anon type fast!

  7. Nekussa says:

Mylo doesn’t seem to notice what his tail is up to. More evidence for my theory that the tail is in fact an entirely separate organism from the cat! ;) Hence the need to pounce on it.

  8. Estlin says:

Seren: who the heck cares about being first to post? Surely we all have lives?

Beautiful cat in the video, by the way.

  9. Edward says:

I love the brief moments of ‘what the hell just happened?’ looks throughout…

  10. Little Squirrel says:

Is that a cocktail I see on the edge of the tub? Nice.

  11. javagirl says:

I think Meriweather is right! He’s makin’ BATHTUB GIN!!

    Mylo, Kitty Bootlegger!

  12. Jennie Mello says:

My first thought—”stupid cat”. Then I fell in love.

  13. Flávia A says:

    Poor little fella, lol.

  14. LadyDayra says:

My boy Buddy does this – I have to agree, it seems like he has no idea what his tail is doing.

  15. Peter says:

    Perhaps it’s a Turkish Van?

  16. Marjorie says:

Was I the only one who hoped the kitty would fall into the tub??? Terrible I know, but I’m only familiar with what a dog would do!

  17. Khadija says:

    yeah seen that .. cutie..
there’s another one of Mylo on youtube where the owner keeps annoying Mylo. (that one’s not so nice)

  18. Hon Glad says:

    Acute case of body dismorphia.

  19. Katrina says:

Mylo is going to soon find out that the bubbles taste awful. They did to my two sleek black kittehs who used to do this. Nice spinning, there Mylo. Just be aware of the walls. [Cat thoughts, cat thoughts]
Tails seem to have a life of their own sometimes. With so many new Peeps commenting- if you had a tail, what kind of tail would you have? (Old question, new audience.)

I would have a fluffy Giant Anteater’s tail (sans ants).

  20. DumBunny says:

I’d want a fluffy tail like a snow leopard’s, but more mobile like a monkeys, oh, what fun I could have with that in a crowed room!!

  21. Katrina says:

Theo wants afterburners, rather than a tail.

  22. katie says:

interesting that someone has a camera at the ready… in their bathroom…

  23. claudia says:

    DOH! Silly kitty.

  24. Theresa says:

Wow, he’s a stunning cat. And what an evil thing attached to his butt!!

Katrina, I would have a flowing horsey tail.

  25. Beth (in NC) says:

I would enjoy a floofy tail, maybe like a red panda?

This is all I could think while watching this: “Duuuuuuuuuuuuuude, what?”

  26. Zanna says:

Oh noes, poor kitty here I come with a towel! Though yes, now that you mention it Marjorie, I was kind of hoping he’d fall in too, but only if he was one of those water loving cats you sometimes see swimming…

  27. k says:

lately i’ve been thinking a nice thick round tail like a cheetah’s would be nice. but sometimes, a big fluffy brushy tail like a squirrel could be good, also.

and i am very glad i’m not the only person who spends time thinking about what kind of tail i’d like to have.

  28. Ayeesha says:

LOL, that’s so funny. Speaking of funny, check out an “Ode to War Kittens”.

  29. chanpon says:

My kitties – who detest water and baths – are surprisingly oblivious when their tails get completely dipped in water too. :-/ No crazy spinning from mine, though.

  30. kibblenibble says:

    Beeyooteefull floofy kitteh…

I think the cameraperson is actually IN the tub…with their camera…

    o.O

  31. David (the first one) says:

Cats are so silly when it comes to their tails. One time when we were little my sister and I tied a bell to the tail of a kitten to see if it will chase it. It did. We had to stop it within a minute because the kitten looks like it’s running out of breath. You’d think it’s smart enough to just whip the tail around instead of turning the whole body toward it :)

  32. Aoife says:

Never ceases to amaze me how cats never quite seem to realize that their tails are part of their bodies. Hey, what’s that? A toy!

  33. Theresa says:

My Dante thinks it is an evil thing plotting against him.

  34. debg says:

    I’d want a ring-tailed lemur tail–doubles as a boa!

  35. NotAnotherMIlo says:

My Milo sits on the edge of the tub and soaks his front paws in the warm water. go fig.

I think I’d have to go with a monkey tail. It would be so very useful.

  36. NotAnotherMIlo says:

btw – the cat in the video is just gorgeous. Even while chasing its own tail. :)

  37. katiedid says:

LOL.. I wish my cats would watch this and understand that water does not equal horrible death that I have to claw my owner in order to get away from it…. hehehe

  38. Milo the whirlin dervish kitty.

He is a beautiful cat, even if he’s a leettle bit crazy.

  39. Lhyzz says:

I used to have a cat that would do the same thing, sit on the edge of the tub and obliviously dipping her tail into the water. She never noticed, though. She liked to drink the bath water also…

  40. A thinker says:

Poor kitty’s tail is too short for him to catch it and dry it!

  41. A thinker says:

p.s. and yes, I was kinda hoping he would jump (not fall) in too.

  42. SoCalSis says:

I love it when Mylo seems oblivious to the fact that his tail’s in the tub. “Tub? Water? Where?”

I’d have a long fluffy tail so I could curl it around me when I’m sitting, a combination fur stole and draft keeper-outerer…

  43. berthaservant says:

“Doo-de-doo-de-doo, jes sittin’ here on da tub, watching my hooman, hangin’ out, totally safe from the wateres, no problems, no worries, no….WHAT THE — AW JEEZ! I’m a CAT! I HATE wateres….aw, this is gonna stay like this, isn’t it…maybe if I just….no…dangit…STUPID WALL, STAY OUT OF MY WAY….”

  44. Marjorie says:

True, it would have been cute if the kitty had jumped in (instead of fallen…perhaps). I would have a corgi tail (a NUB, NUBBULE, or NUBBIN – however you want to call it)!

  45. Little Tart says:

I once had to wash my Doogie Cat (he would get stink butt as a teenager). After he was washed he ran in a circle for hours – I remember being worried that I had broken him.

  46. e-beth says:

This is a blue bi-color Ragdoll cat. How do I know you ask?
BECAUSE WE JUST PICKED ONE OUT LAST NIGHT!
    Yay!

  47. Paunchie says:

LOL dum dum unawarez of his own tailio while it swooshing in waterez and then GAH get it offa me!

  48. berecca says:

My cat has a similar tail-dysmorphic problem. Her tail just whips & flops & swishes constantly, knocking over glasses, losing pens, and often dipping into whatever we’re trying to eat (cereal and soup are dangerous). If she’s annoyed, it will make *thwap* sounds.

I call her Jabba the Hut, because Jabba’s tail moved without regard to what he was actually doing.

  49. Boomer's Babysitter says:

Cats are so weird. I like them, though…

I’d have a tail that curled up at the end like a cheery flag.

  50. Boomer's Babysitter says:

  55. Marie says:

    That is just so cat.

  56. kibblenibble says:

Katrina: Maybe I’d have a rat/possum type tailio, and everyone would say, “Gee, she’d be so cute, if it wasn’t for her gross, scary tail.” Or maybe a curly pug tail, so it could stay close to my hindquarters, with less chance of knocking things over.

  57. Jae says:

I think I would like to have an-impossible-to-uncurl tail, something along the lines of a Norwegian Elkhound or a Bichon Frise.

My Halcyon likes to dunk her tail in the bathtub as well, but I think she only does it so that she can drink water from her tail. (Silly cat has never liked to just drink out of a bowl.)

  58. Shannon says:

Poo. I can’t remember which is which. I think it’s Mooch (the cat in Mutts). He always said those things have a mind of their own.

  59. Snowpea says:

Poor Mylo probably was further horrified by the taste of soapy water! Urk.

Me, a horse tail, same colour as my hair.

  60. Audrey Leigh says:

I just got back a German test–I failed. I was quite upset…until I watched this!

  61. snickers says:

I’m guessing that the added weight of the water caused him to think something was attached to his tail.

  62. nakey says:

    Exactly, Nekussa!

  63. Kar says:

My thought too. Why do you need a camera while you’re taking a bath?

    Do we WANT to know?

  64. Tamara says:

Mylo has about 20 video’s on youtube, here’s a quick 12 second one of when he was a kitten! I think i’m in love with this kitteh.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxEcHXT_H5Y&feature=channel

  65. Lysana says:

Kar, my suspicion is it started with whoever was in the tub calling out, “Hey! Mylo’s dragging his tail in the water. Bring me the camera, this could be good.”

  66. Scoobie says:

I notice human does not get out off bath to go comfort cat when he vanishes around corner.

  67. totalee puppy says:

    Katrina, I agree with Jae–
    a curled-up tail like a
    Norwegian Elkhound or a
    Bichon Frise. I have dark
curly hair, so something to go with that.

  68. totalee puppy says:

    …on my head, that is…

  69. Monica says:

What kind of cat is he?

  70. pounce says:

LOL!!!! Good thing peanut butter helps toast crumbs stop flying out of your mouth.

I used to put handfuls of bath bubbles on my cats’ backs and watch as they tried to WALK OUT FROM UNDER THEM.

  71. At first I was like…oh cute…then when he jumped down and started spinning madly, I was lol all over the place!

  72. NT Mel says:

OK, I think Mylo has now taken Winston’s place as my favoritest cat I’ve never actually met. That video Tamara posted of his kittenhood cinched it.

I have a kitteh (Rascal is her name, for reasons which will become obvious shortly) who climbs to the top of the kitteh tower, only to discover a long furry thing has followed her there and is right “behind” her, ready to overtake her as queen of all she surveys. Of course, my dear littel Rascal leans over the edge to get at the interloper, only to see said ‘loper slipping up through the hole in the top level of the perch! So she chases the evil long furry thing (which she discovers tastes oddly familiar) around and around – up through the hole, out over the edge, crawl back toward the hole, and UP through the hole again. It may take an hour or more, but my beloved Rascal always wins. I’m so proud.

  73. NT Mel says:

Oh…and it’d be a tigger tail, cause they’re bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy
    Fun, fun, fun, fun, FUN!

  74. Juniper Jupiter says:

    See…goes to show ya…

Warm sooving bubba baffs, orange joose, and a toasted marshmallow kitteh don’t mix! ESPECIALLY since toasted marshmallows get soggy in tha bafftub!

(But I do loves tha toasted marshmallow kitteh!)

  75. AnotherElizabeth says:

Hee! Cats are nuts! Katrina, I’d pick a thick red fox’s tail all long and fluffy with a cotton ball at the end.

  76. Eize says:

Mylo is a Ragdoll, a silly eternal kitten breed. :)

  77. eternalcanadian says:

omg, i thought it was a nice video of a kitty just dangling its tail in a bubbly bath, then whoa, psycho kitty after its own tail! talk about air-drying. lolz!

  78. *fights gigglefits and tears*

OMG what a silly little git! LOLROFL.

That´s gonna keep me giggling all day.

It´s the “okay, WHO DID THIS?!” look on his face as well, wahahah. ;)

  79. darkshines says:

I’d like a lions tail, strong enough to whip away annoying folks, but still with a cute auburn tuft to match my head hair!

  80. Katrina says:

I loves me the Peeps. I ask that question of a person as I am deciding if that person could be a friend or not. What kind of tail he/she would want is nice information, but, more importantly, if he/she answers the question and doesn’t coil away from the question, but stops and thoughtfully answers, I know I have found a kindred spirit. Thanks, kindred spirits! Have a great day, Peeps!

  81. gravyboat says:

That cat needs Tasmanian Devil spinning sounds to accompany his twirling.

  82. Katrina says:

    gravyboat-weeeoohhweeeeooohhwishaswi
    shawishawishaweeeeooh,
    wishsawishswisa-

    like that?

  83. DreamspinnerCheryl says:

I’d have a magical tail-slinky and monkey-like, very much a third “hand”. At will, I’d morph it into an extra long, extra fluffy snuggle tail, long enough to completely encircle me in fuzzy warmth. (Can you tell I’m sick of winter?)

  84. Michelle says:

Sly Fox playing in the background is a nice touch. It takes me back to my high school days when I could often be found randomly spinning in circles myself. :)

  85. Jenn1985 says:

What a seriously gorgeous kitteh. Wow.

    And LOL at berthaservant…very funny.

  86. Biscuit Tin says:

Mylo is thinking to himself,”Mylo, King of the jungle, sits motionless by the side of the watering hole and waits to kill the wild dog that will be his supper. Motionless, he sits. Is something in the water? He tenses, and looks again, more closely. Yes, something is there! Please, God, don’t let it be…it is! It’s a killer eel!!! The killer eel clamps his jaws onto Mylo’s butt, and Mylo must fight him to the death! Cleverly, he spins and spins until the eel slaps against a tree and dies. Dizzily, Mylo returns to his hut, victorious in battle, as always.

I think cats know very well that their tails are their tails; they just have rich inner-lives for their own endless enjoyment!

That is a *gorgeous* coffee table in the link Tamara posted. That living room does not go with that bathroom.

  87. CelticJess says:

My Maine Coon used to dangle anything in the tub. Whiskers, paws, tail. Once he actually fell in while my hubby was bathing and he sat with him for about ten minutes. Weird, werid cat.

  88. tblue says:

This is a video of that very same Mylo kitteh as a little kitten–seriously attacking his blankie. I mean, he really thinks that blankie needs to be punished and taught a lesson! Very cute and very funny.
