What baby gorilla? Where?
Oh NTMTOM, a trip through your mind would be a very interesting, strange journey indeed. We heart you and the rest of the CO folk. Meg, you have assembled quite a group. And yes, Theo, that includes you.
Rollo looks comfy!8)
Rollo? I don’t see little Rollo. Just Heinman Ruspanken, the Gorilla team captain.
Good ol’ NTMTOM, coming through with the monty python reference.
Matchingk?
Grubspackle… Wahaha!
We used to play that game with our little ‘uns, as they were draped over our shoulders– “Where’s Gilly? Where is she?” “Behind you Behind You!” [quick spin around to squeals of laughter] “No, she’s not there! Where is she??”
Many many years ago now. Mamas and babys, alike all over the world.
This makes me want to take a nap. Anybody got a spare gorilla?
Interesting how the little guy is maintaining finger and toe grips on Mom’s fur, while dozing peacefully.
Wait, Momma G, don’t stand up!…*thunk*
I am reduced to a puddle of Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww …………..
Hey wait! I thought no humans on CuteOverload…that baby looks just like a people!
Guilt-ridden Mama Gorilla’s got a monkey on her back.
Which way is up?
“…97, 98, 99, 100! I’m COMING!!!!”
Awww!! Now that’s the good life
Those are some well-groomed gorillas. Recent brushing? Raw eggs for breakfast?
I’m sleepy. I want a monkey back to sleep on!
AAAAAWWWWW…precious gorillas. Gotta love our
wildlife.
This one made me smile and feel much better. My beloved dog Jewel passed away on Wednesday and it has been a very hard week for us. It was very unexpected as she had been in good health. She just went to sleep and didn’t wake up. It has been especially hard on my son because he grew up with Jewel and barely remembers a time without her.
Thanks CO, Meg, Mike and Theo for helping me to smile.
It’s behind you.
Oh, wait a minute…there’s something on yor back. Here…I’ll get it..
Baby’s got back.
And a big ol’ internet hug to Martha in W. and family. So sorry to hear about your pup.
Oh, Martha in Washington, I am so sorry for your loss. I bet it has been a hard week. So sudden and too soon. Owwwwch. I offer up prayers for you and your son and for your sweet Jewel, who, while being a doggie, was an important part of your people family, too. What breed was she?
@Martha in Washington: I’m so sorry to hear about your doggie!! Sending you and your family lots of {{{hugs}}}…..
Gorillas are awesome! the liitle guy looks very secure and well-cared for.
Martha, so sorry to hear about Jewel. Losing a pet si so hard. But your son (and you) will always have
great memories of Jewel.
Martha, so sorry about Jewel. My Dante is sending you soothing purrs.
Mommie, you make me feel so happy, and sleepy…..
and I love you:)
Martha – deepest sympathy to your family. I have never lost an animal, and I know we will be devastated when that inevitable time comes. I’m sorry that you did not get a chance to say goodbye.
Gorillas are cool. They are very thoughtful, or so it seems. At the National Zoo, you can sit with them – they tell you to sit back to back with them against the glass and look over your shoulder – that way they don’t think you’re being aggressive.
I am scared of gorillas. Actually all apes and really all monkeys. I like my arms attached to my body, thanks!
@Kristabelle
10 or so years ago, I sat with the gorillas at the National Zoo, back to the glass.
Eventually, the 15 month old baby approached + we pressed our hands against the glass + had a nice friendly look into each others eyes before mother came + took him away.
So very moving.
Lucy the friendly orangutan was amazing too.
I highly recommend people to visit them.
long hair plus strong hands with opposable thumbs negates need for baby bjorn.
Baby gorilla looks absolutely blissed out.
Martha – I’m so sorry for your loss. I understand how it feels to lose an animal companion. We grieve for animals the same way we grieve for any family member. It is good to know that your Jewel had a life filled with love. Many hugs and lots of love to you and your family.
That is cool, biscuthead! There was a LARGE gorilla with his back to the glass, and I sat behind him – even through howevermanyinch glass, it was still a bit daunting!! Cool that you got to connect with one of the babies.
We only live an hour from the National Zoo, so we should get there more often…
I too call matchinks!
also, that looks so comfy.
I was just imagining how warm and comfy that would feel, and I got friendly goosebumps
And def. one of the best Monty Python skits EVAR!
Thanks Peeps for the sympathies. It really does help to know you all care.
Jewel was a black lab mix (mixed with what we really didn’t know) and she would have been 11 years old at the end of this month.
My son asked me last night if we would get another dog. I said yes, but not right now. We need to wait for the right dog. We’ll know it when we find it. That is how it was with Jewel. I saw her at the pet store with an adoption society and just knew she was the one. I can’t imagine my life without a dog in it.
