I wonder if adorable kittehs were part of Julia Child’s spy missions.

I wonder if Julia Child used adorable kittehs as part of her spying.

3 Hon Glad 02.11.09 at 2:24 pm

Oh it’s such a strain to look this good.

4 Nik 02.11.09 at 2:32 pm

Judging by the sweetness of the ingredients, I’d say we are definitely making a Dessert Kitty here…

5 jen 02.11.09 at 2:44 pm

is zee kitty’s name Al?

Al Dente?

might i have a neeble?

6 itsmemom 02.11.09 at 2:47 pm

What strain of kitteh is this? >”<

7 chanpon 02.11.09 at 2:53 pm

Curious. Kitty’s are clearly part liquid, but they don’t leak!

8 Metz 02.11.09 at 2:56 pm

(beeps kittn nose repeatedly)(is there a nose beep-hab?)

Mmmm warm and toasty fresh from teh oven.

I am convinced that cats have an innate ability to find settings that make them look good. I love how the red brings out his coat and pink little nose.

Pasta Pusstanesca?
Chicken Catciatore?

11 Anne Pole 02.11.09 at 3:05 pm

When did Julia Child (RIP) get that foreign accent?

12 mberkie0 02.11.09 at 3:07 pm

I fits in it, so I sits in it.

13 foxy 02.11.09 at 3:09 pm

I don’t think that kitteh is ripe yet, the marmies aren’t really good until dark orange.

But I’ll take it anyway, because it’s my birthday and I’ll steal if I want to.

14 Theresa 02.11.09 at 3:14 pm

It’s a hammock!

15 firefinch 02.11.09 at 3:16 pm

A picture for next year’s CO colander … um, calendar.

16 Pheas 02.11.09 at 3:48 pm

I see boxhab in that kitteh’s future. Sad at so young an age!

17 Poohbear 02.11.09 at 3:50 pm

Nooooooh ! no kitteh in zeh oven, kitteh in mah lap.

18 Gail (the first one) 02.11.09 at 3:52 pm

*say in high, quavery voice* If you do not have a strainer, simply place the kitty in a square of cheesecloth and squeeze gently….

19 Katrina 02.11.09 at 3:53 pm

Be careful with that nibbling, if s/he is al dente.

Happy Birthday foxy!

Such a sweet picture, I bet the person who found the cat-in-the colander just let it sit there for as long as it wanted! I know I would have gone and found found a piece of cheesecloth, or other straining device, so as not to disturb zee kitteh. Honk-shu!

Matchingks–silvery-peach kitteh and silver strainer?

21 thicktortiethintabby 02.11.09 at 3:55 pm

Also matchingks–colander “legs” and flowers in background! Fantastic composhishe, overall!

22 DKN 02.11.09 at 3:57 pm

LOL! My thoughts exactly, Anne Pole.

23 confuzedmuze 02.11.09 at 4:10 pm

om nom nom. *nibbles kitteh eerz* delish! After straining, place kitten in a warm sunny place for 50-60 minutes, or until doubled in size.

24 Theo 02.11.09 at 4:12 pm

You peeps. Heh. You’s awesome.
I think I’ll be heading upstairs to the kittchen myself.

25 catloveschanel 02.11.09 at 4:40 pm

I would like to order one in aqua, to match my mixmaster AND my flowers, but I am wondering if I can put that in the dishwasher?

26 kodalai 02.11.09 at 4:45 pm

Also matchinks — color of cat & color of sunlight on wall in b/g?

27 biscuithead 02.11.09 at 4:59 pm

Meatloaf?
Again?

28 Annie 02.11.09 at 5:17 pm

Now Gently poor the kitty into a fine strainer and allow to rest and drain for at least fifteen minutes
meanwhile
mix together your herbs and sauce in your serving bowl
pour strained kitty into the bowl with sauce and toss gently

when serving be sure to garnish with fresh catnip.

IT will be a feast for the eyes as well as the palate.

Ummm…delicious mellow caramel kitteh sauce, with a side order of pussghetti!

31 Paunchie 02.11.09 at 7:11 pm

Do they have a kitchen on the porch? Or is the strainer there on purpose as a kitteh hammock??

32 Paunchie 02.11.09 at 7:13 pm

“what about a last minute dinner party for 300?”
(cookity cookity) VOILA!

33 nancy 02.11.09 at 7:25 pm

dammit! firefinch beat me to the PUN-ch

34 MeLikeyCuuute 02.11.09 at 7:57 pm

He’s straining to have a nap

35 berthaservant 02.11.09 at 11:11 pm

Another great Santa Barbaran, still missed at the local farmer’s markets.

(Julia, not kitteh…we still get fresh kitteh brought in every week from Santa Ynez).

36 Theo 02.11.09 at 11:48 pm

I read that as “Santa Barbarian”. Ah’ll be bahk, ho ho ho.

37 Andrea 02.12.09 at 1:12 am

I know it seems odd, but at the animal shelter where I adopted my kitten, they had colanders in each cage, filled with towels / blankets–cheap and easy cat bed. So maybe all cats are secretly strained!
