We had to put one of our kitties on a diet. He complained too.

Everybody at Cute Overload knows I’m a cat freak, but I hope there is NEVER a 12-”step” program to recovery!

    :D

  8. vegas vickie says:

very punny! Juniper Jupiter and alexa
I love the cats wish I could have one. I’m glad I don’t have slippers.

  9. Katya says:

The kitteh will soon forget and keep nomming. or steal some food from one of his neighbors.

  10. Kar says:

You should hear mine scream when she realizes that no, I’m not giving her a full bowl anymore.

I think this shot needs a Rube Goldberg machine to distribute the food to the bowls.

Looks as if everyone knows whose dish is whose (geez my sinus pain… I had to type that like four times for all the letters to be in the right order).

…you don’t even know how many tries for what’s in the parentheses. Oh, BTW, I FINALLY got to see Boomer again. He sends his regards. His human’s going away after Valentine’s Day, so I get him again for almost 2 weeks! YAY!

  23. Silent Meow says:

He stepped up to the plate and struck out….er, I mean bowl. He stepped up and won’t back down. Maybe that’s because he’ll just stay there and keep eating and won’t go back down the steps. He’ll soon be forced to do cat-esthetics until he turns catatonic…I mean calesthetics. Sorry, this pun is not in good taste, maybe because the kibble is diet.

  24. Noelegy says:

    The stairs! So whimsical!

  25. KatieKat says:

Hey! What are my cats doing on those top two steps? No wonder they’re not losing weight! http://www.zootoo.com/photo/caughtsnuggling

  26. cellarmouse says:

i woulda sworn it was nomtom …

  27. T.U.M. says:

I wish I had steps to feed my kittehs on! Maybe they’d fight less at mealtimes. The surprised one looks just like my dear departed Mittens.

  28. Theo says:

Hmm, this looks like another good candidate for a 2-frame animation…

  29. MJ says:

not punny or funny, but can anyone tell me what kind of cat is on the bottom step? we’ve had a cat like that for years, the vet is dumb and doesn’t know, and she was SUPPOSED to be a himalayan… sooo not. (we think either mom cheated or the owners found a box of kittens :P )

  30. Theo says:

MJ — looks like that kitty might have some Ragdoll in his/her bloodline, but s/he could also just be some sort of Siamese/longhair mix.

  31. Theo says:

    (Himalayan isn’t too far-fetched, either)

  32. Bev says:

What happens if they get another kitteh???? Will they build another step????

I have five kittehs and they have their own units (NEVER call them cages) and it is so funny when feeding time comes around. They all leap up and run enmasse towards the room where their units are. Each knows which unit is theirs and will sit and wait for their food. The youngest kitteh is very anxious for his food and will leap over the others when it’s time to eat.

I think the enmasse race occurs at this house too.

BTW…..Bleen!!! Kittehs on stairs!!! And the one on the top stair looks like my Pippa.

  33. Theo says:

    There are ALWAYS more stairs.

  34. Jules says:

Teho and MJ-think they’re called snowshoes? Let me know, though. The bottom-step kitteh’s twin sleeps on my porch every night.

  35. A. says:

Stair-step eating! I like Mr. Orange guy!

  36. Kristi says:

If those were my cats, those dishes would be pushed down the stairs in a second. My cats push their dishes around so much when they eat..the bowls have rubber bottoms, and they’re on a carpet and they STILL get pushed around. They wouldn’t last very long on those stairs…It’s why we have to feed them on the floor. We tried the counter with disastrous results.

  37. Hon Glad says:

Be very careful when you come down stairs at night.

  38. Looloobelle says:

I like it how ginger’s tail is so voluminous that it’s spilling over onto the next step…:)

  39. Annie says:

One of these things is not like the other
one of these things doesn’t belong
    Can you guess which thing
    is not like the others
now before I finish my song!

This Song brought to you by the letter C and by the number 4.

  40. gooeyctr says:

The delicious matchingks makes me think their family name is All-of-a-Kind Kittehs…

  41. Brenda says:

Is that the litter box on the top level? I guess this is one time it is best to be at the bottom of the food chain.

  42. KC says:

The cat on the lower step looks like a blue birman to me (I’m a cat judge) but it’s hard to tell because you can’t see the face.

  43. edmundh says:

Theo, did you ask for an animated version? I just did it…

  44. Frankie says:

The bowl for “surprised kitty” looks like the ones
at our house that come with extra-light ice cream
    (sigh). Yes, I appreciate…but (sigh)anyway.

  45. Dianne says:

Beautiful kitties — diet’s not going to work, though. Cats are Obligate Carnivores {MUST HAVE ANIMAL MEAT}, dry food messes up their systems pretty bad. Check out catinfo.org [nothing for sale] for vet’s take on this — more and more people are complaining to cat food manufacturers to take dry food off the shelves.

  46. Dianne says:

Yes, looks like a Birman on the bottom step. My Kitty’s mom was a birman — great temperament. They are prone to diabetes (both mom and son have diabetes) though we were able to get mom off the insulin over time by changing her food and home testing. Son is coming off it too, with insulin and food change.

  47. Jennie Mello says:

THE STEPS! This seems a great way to get them out from underfoot. My Lucy often gets caught between my feets in the kitchen.

  48. haha look at the kitty face XD

  49. Gail (the first one) says:

    @edmundh: Nice animation!!!

If this were my house, inevitably the one who *should* be eating the diet version would be eating the full-calorie food!

  50. T.U.M. says:

@Kristi – Our Melanie was a dish-pusher until she figgered out putting her front feet in the dish would make it stand still.

  51. Ashley says:

Kitteh at the bottom looks like a Birman – like my Wesley, except blue point instead of seal point! http://www.cfa.org/breeds/profiles/birman.html

  52. Jano says:

    @Brenda — my thoughts exactly.

  53. Theo says:

EdmundH — well that’s seven frames, but hey, nicely done.

  54. sandy says:

I have a cat just like the orange one, they could be twins. The mom is a main coon cat. they are big cats.

  55. Shadyman says:

Check out the TAIL FLOOMF on the orange kittay!

  56. chanpon says:

Get out! Bac-o’s is made of soy?!?! *omnomnomnom*

  57. Samantha says:

I expect to keep scrolling down and just see kitteh after kitteh after kitteh…

  58. berthaservant says:

    :: invisible nom tag ::

  59. Theo says:

BServ — check out EdmundH’s animation (scroll up). They’re *visible*.
