We had to put one of our kitties on a diet. He complained too.

He stepped up to the plate and struck out….er, I mean bowl. He stepped up and won’t back down. Maybe that’s because he’ll just stay there and keep eating and won’t go back down the steps. He’ll soon be forced to do cat-esthetics until he turns catatonic…I mean calesthetics. Sorry, this pun is not in good taste, maybe because the kibble is diet.

not punny or funny, but can anyone tell me what kind of cat is on the bottom step? we’ve had a cat like that for years, the vet is dumb and doesn’t know, and she was SUPPOSED to be a himalayan… sooo not. (we think either mom cheated or the owners found a box of kittens

MJ — looks like that kitty might have some Ragdoll in his/her bloodline, but s/he could also just be some sort of Siamese/longhair mix.
(Himalayan isn’t too far-fetched, either)

I have five kittehs and they have their own units (NEVER call them cages) and it is so funny when feeding time comes around. They all leap up and run enmasse towards the room where their units are. Each knows which unit is theirs and will sit and wait for their food. The youngest kitteh is very anxious for his food and will leap over the others when it’s time to eat.
I think the enmasse race occurs at this house too.
BTW…..Bleen!!! Kittehs on stairs!!! And the one on the top stair looks like my Pippa.
There are ALWAYS more stairs.
Teho and MJ-think they’re called snowshoes? Let me know, though. The bottom-step kitteh’s twin sleeps on my porch every night.

If those were my cats, those dishes would be pushed down the stairs in a second. My cats push their dishes around so much when they eat..the bowls have rubber bottoms, and they’re on a carpet and they STILL get pushed around. They wouldn’t last very long on those stairs…It’s why we have to feed them on the floor. We tried the counter with disastrous results.
Be very careful when you come down stairs at night.
I like it how ginger’s tail is so voluminous that it’s spilling over onto the next step…:)

Is that the litter box on the top level? I guess this is one time it is best to be at the bottom of the food chain.
The cat on the lower step looks like a blue birman to me (I’m a cat judge) but it’s hard to tell because you can’t see the face.

(sigh). Yes, I appreciate…but (sigh)anyway.
Beautiful kitties — diet’s not going to work, though. Cats are Obligate Carnivores {MUST HAVE ANIMAL MEAT}, dry food messes up their systems pretty bad. Check out catinfo.org [nothing for sale] for vet’s take on this — more and more people are complaining to cat food manufacturers to take dry food off the shelves.
Yes, looks like a Birman on the bottom step. My Kitty’s mom was a birman — great temperament. They are prone to diabetes (both mom and son have diabetes) though we were able to get mom off the insulin over time by changing her food and home testing. Son is coming off it too, with insulin and food change.
THE STEPS! This seems a great way to get them out from underfoot. My Lucy often gets caught between my feets in the kitchen.

I have a cat just like the orange one,they could be twins. The mom is a main coon cat. they are big cats.
