Squirrelaloons? Squirreloons?
Beats me. But I must say this is the CUTEST FREAKING SQUIRREL I have ever seen. The paws! The chub! The eye makeup! The nommable ears! The dainty whiskers!
Stephanie Smith, I concur. This little guy’s a 10 if I ever saw one.
Thank you, Écureuil. May I say that the service on the veranda has been superb since you hired that French skunk. He does seem to be easily distracted by black and white female cats, however.
Sophie–stay safe! I know there are many people thinking and praying for the safety of people and animals alike in your country. I hope the fires will be brought under control soon.
And yes…this is officially the world’s cutest squirrel!
Hi, everybody! I’m actually the one who sent in this picture! I was reading through all of your comments, and I just wanted to say I’m glad all of you think it’s as cute as I do! However, I must point out that he’s a chipmunk, not a squirrel. There were dozens of them running around when I took this picture – it was crazy!
Mallory A. what a great picture, I think it could be a wonderful big poster.
So it is a chipmunk. Ha, I thought so, but that tummy is so – well, snorgleable yes,- but it is so, – well, fluffy, yes, – and it is so- oh, it is a very cute chipmunk.
Carolina, Katrina, Amy, Mallory A, Theresa, Silent Meow and Amy J,and everyone,
Thanks for your prayers. Its such a beautiful area full of native bush, kangaroos, echidnas, beautiful birds, little farms and wonderful friendly people.
Nature is so beautiful but also so merciless. Bushfires are a lot like twisters… you can prepare but ultimately its a game of chance. They move too fast and too unpredictably and if you’re in their path its too late.
One of our most famous TV news anchors was killed with his wife in the fires. He was kind of like our version of Walter Cronkite or Dan Rather.
My ex, from whom I learned a lot about Australia, was from that part of the world. His family still lives in Melbourne and Ballarat, and I hope everybody stays safe.
Sophie-stick with us, maybe we can help bring a smile to you and your loved ones. I think every one of us is a frustrated stand-up comic!
Seriously, I know we all will be thinking of you with good thoughts.
I need this little chap in my classroom at school, to help keep order. He is such a model of meticulous manners, my students couldn’t HELP but behave themselves!
And to Sophie and all the others affected by the bushfires, I’m so sorry this is happening to you, and I send my best wishes for things to get better soon.
Add me to the list of peeps sending cooling, happy, healing thoughts and wishes to our friends (humans and others) in Australia. I hope this stretch of bad weather/events ends quickly!!
Sophie-The New York Times has pictures and a huge article about the devastation-Americans all over are praying for you and for the victims. One day at a time, my friend, one day at a time. We are here, try to keep that in mind. K.
I certainly will say a prayer for the animals and humans and Mother Earth of OZ. And whoever first said this monks nose was beepable, you are SO right!
*blinks* Very nice. I’d like a seat with a view of the geyser, thanks. (Takes a sip of the cocktail and reads menu.) What the–13 guinea pigs for a Caturday cocktail? Bah, tourist prices.

Can everyone say a prayer to their God for the animals in the bushfires in Australia.
We lost 11 people next to my home town yesterday in the worst possible way. And who knows how many native animals, farm animals and pets.
May those that are injured recover quickly.
I can haz walnutz?
For Sophie, I am so sorry to learn of this
dreadful trouble Down Under. My prayers are with all of you, humans and other creatures.

Thank you! That’s a good idea this would make an adorable poster! Isn’t that funny? Chipmunks aren’t usually so chubby! I just love this little guy.
@Sophie,
I am definitely going to pray for all that! Horrible! Just horrible! I am so sorry to hear what’s been going on!
i could use a little squiggle-hance on those redonk toes
I want to poke him in the belleh, in hopes he’d make a Pillsbury Doughboy-esque sound.

On the other topic, BELLEH!!!

I can never remember the difference between a squirrel and a chipmunk. No matter.
So then … chipaloons? Munkaloons?
What an amazing picture, Mallory. Cheers!
Lovin’ the white guyliner and the extra chub!
@all my Aussie buds: God keep you in the palm of his hand. You are being thought about and prayed for.
Isn’t “ground squirrel” another name for “chipmunk?” Squirrel is therefore not so far off the mark, doncha think?;)
Hands in a respectful posishe? More like evil finger tenting!
