Hey Meow Mix, I got yer next ad campaign right HERE

by Meg on January 5, 2009

Remember our first ad campaign image for kittehs. Remember that awesome photo we had of those two kitteh paws reaching out for that treat bag? If search worked on this site I could prolly find it. Anywho…

Ann Mariesays that her kitteh Elvin pulled the Meow Mix bag out of therecycling. She says: "I guess there were crumbs left in there becausehe was in there for awhile."

I’m waiting, Madison Avenue. Waiting.

Kitteh is just trying to help out by not wasting one *bit* of food!! Fiscal responsibility, y’know.

Oh, and BLEEN!!!

4 Holy Cuteness 01.05.09 at 3:53 pm

Lol, that looks really funny…

5 Babelglyph 01.05.09 at 3:57 pm

If my kitties ate Meow Mix I’d think that was one of mine! Cute and so perfect for cat owners. (also tailage is good for nomming too.)

6 Ray 01.05.09 at 4:02 pm

kitties are self-feeding, as well as self-cleaning!

7 Jiffknee 01.05.09 at 4:04 pm

Kinda reminds me of myself . . . not so much the MeowMix, but rather a bag of Cheetos or Salt N Vinegar Chippies.

8 Katrina 01.05.09 at 4:35 pm

Go Elvin! (great name).

9 Katiedid 01.05.09 at 4:41 pm

I want chicken
I want liver
Meow mix, meow mix
Please deliver!

10 Hon Glad 01.05.09 at 4:41 pm

I have to keep the kibble way up high, to stop my cats doing the same.

11 Stacey Taylor-Kane 01.05.09 at 5:05 pm

THIS is why we keep the cat food in plastic storage containers XD

12 Shaina 01.05.09 at 5:14 pm

I never noticed that the logo is made of cat. Anyway, we keep our dry food in a plastic bucket so Henry doesn’t nibble through the bag.

13 kar 01.05.09 at 5:37 pm

Now I’m very curious to see what Elvin looks like sans bag.

[My guess: Full. - Ed.]

14 chanpon 01.05.09 at 5:39 pm

No, that cat food bag with the tail doesn’t look suspicious at all. Why do you ask?

15 Silent Meow 01.05.09 at 6:04 pm

Did you folks ever think that perhaps there isn’t a kitteh in the bag at all, but that perhaps the bag has simply grown a tail?

16 claudia 01.05.09 at 6:27 pm

maybe Maru outgrew the box addiction and has moved on to bags?

17 Boomer's Babysitter 01.05.09 at 6:53 pm

I’m just glad that there’s no music with this ad… The Meow Mix song is the toughest earworm to dislodge, you know.

18 Bryan Price 01.05.09 at 6:58 pm

I keep the food in a plastic bin myself. But that wasn’t stopping a certain kitten (at the time) from ripping a hole in the new bag awaiting the final emptying of said bin so that he could get some fresh. To his credit, the hole was just big enough for him to reach in with a claw and pull one kibble out at a time.

Silent Meow-what an interesting concept-you think maybe cat-tail spores just landed and the tail grew because of the plentiful nutrients? Hmmm, very astute.

Killer Corgi doesn’t molest the bag of food on the floor, so far, it is a wonder, with her appetite that she hasn’t! She waits patiently for each scoop!

Brilliant. That should totally be a pritn ad for them…

Hmm, looks like someone added the water to their Meow Mix. (I forget– is it instant or do you have to bake it?)

22 eep 01.05.09 at 9:12 pm

not cute! it can die from being suffocated that way. people, please don’t try this at home.

23 Vampy 01.05.09 at 9:20 pm

Now THAT was a totally unwarrented Nuff, don’tcha think? Talk about always seeing the worst case scenario. Here’s a resolution for you: Try to see things more positively, especially silly pictures of animals, k? Life will be brighter for it, trust me.

24 Katrina 01.05.09 at 9:34 pm

Hold on there, Vampy-kins- eep did use “don’t try this at home” and stopped right there. I think we may have a win-win situation here.

It IS a big bag, I suspect if the cat was “in there for a while” that it has enough oxygen to make it out safely.

25 kar 01.05.09 at 9:45 pm

Ed, I have no idea who you are but one of these days we need to grab a coffee and talk.

["Ed." is just a common abbreviation for "Editor"; this is Theo. Hi. - Ed.]

26 Vampy 01.05.09 at 9:46 pm

Tis hard to tell with text, yes? Plus, I’ve gone through the worst three days of my life, so I’m a tad touchy. It did strike me as a pointless Nuffing, it may have been meant as a joke.

27 Space Cowgirl 01.05.09 at 9:49 pm

Cats are not like babies. They know when there’s not enough oxygen and how to escape quickly. I’m dubious as to whether eep has ever been owned by a cat.

28 Silent Meow 01.05.09 at 10:14 pm

Katrina,
Could that be why they call it Meow Mix?

Put the right mixture of nutrients together, and grow a cat tail.

29 Jen8 01.05.09 at 11:29 pm

@Silent: So if I had a little nibble of Meow Mix, I might grow a little nubbin of a tail? Hmmmmm.

30 snorglepup 01.05.09 at 11:49 pm

Tail was deffinitly “shopped”!

31 Melissa H. 01.06.09 at 12:20 am

I find that Meow Mix logo quite disturbing. “Here cats, have some…dismembered cat food.”

32 Cc 01.06.09 at 1:54 am

We have to keep all catfood in a cupboard with a tight fitting door, otherwise the kittehs get it… also have to make sure to NEVER leave any freshly bought meat from the shop unattended (even if it’s still wrapped and in a plastic bag). Kitteh nomming on kitteh food box is cute. Kitteh nomming on steak meant for dinner… (hell, it’s also cute but not too hygenic)

33 auntyb 01.06.09 at 3:29 am

I had a kitty jump up on the kitchen counter, open the cabinet, remove the plastic container of catnip, drag it thru the cat door out to the garage, and he and his 5 cat siblings all worked together to get the darn thing open. Then they puked all over the house from too much nip.

THEO…”My guess…full”
You are full of wit, man…

36 Kar 01.06.09 at 5:04 am

Theo, next time I’ll use the [tongue-n-cheek] font.

I’m just giving you grief for the smart-a$$ comments.

[I'm sure I don't know what you mean. At all. - Ed.]

37 AuntieMame 01.06.09 at 5:16 am

When I was cat/dog-sitting over Thanksgiving, I caught the cat once tearing into a packet of raw hamburger meat that was thawing for the dogs’ dinner, and another time licking the cheesecake we were having for dessert.

38 Tracy 01.06.09 at 7:24 am

If I leave a box of biscuits out, my cats will bite through the cardboard box to get to the goodies inside!

39 Katiedid 01.06.09 at 1:35 pm

auntyb- Yah my cat socks and my brothers cat tiger once found all the pounce treats in the closet while we were away on vacation and chewed the lids off each one(there were about 20 or so in a plastic bag in the top of the closet).. and they never touched the dry cat food.. lol

40 pny 01.06.09 at 1:51 pm

The logo is really eerie.

41 Quertie 01.06.09 at 2:07 pm

Found it!
http://mfrost.typepad.com/cute_overload/2008/03/the-best-advert.html

It actually make me go out and by some of these for my kittehs.

42 Katrina 01.06.09 at 4:31 pm

Vampy,sweetie-is you day any better? I sure hope so.

Silent Meow- hmm, cat seeds- we may be on to something here. I know I’d plant them in MY gardens!

43 Katrina 01.06.09 at 4:32 pm

That logo is very creepy, I agree pny and others who commented. Ewww.

44 Somebody 01.07.09 at 5:14 am
