The Really Thorough Kitten Sitter
by Meg on November 16, 2008
[Grey Cat] "You can count on me to babysit your kittens, Ma’am."

"I won’t let them get away with ANYTHING. I’ll make sure they eat their lunchabuhls and don’t watch too much T.V."

"They won’t get out of control. Heck, I’ll SIT on them if need be."

Digging to China may be the only way out, Staci S.!

That mom just wants her bed to herself again!
That’s how I catsit
There’s not really 10 of them, are there?!
I think momma cat is just like “ah, comfy kitteh bed.”
Mom is not gray cat, mom is dilute tortie! That’s how she got the little splotches of orange on her, and how she ended up with those adorable marmie kitnz — looks like she had a marmie and white gentleman caller.
The last one caused me to splode. The wee faces!
This is one of the best posts in a long, long while. Hidden marmies. Honk-shu. Multiple axes of snorgling.
There were 10 in the bed and the little one said…Roll over roll over so they all rolled over and one fell out there were 9 in the bed and the little one said….
Ahhhhh orangies! I want to scoop them up! <3
THUD!!!
That is a good mommy!
lurkertype, “looks like she had a marmie and white gentleman caller.”
Water would have come out my nose had I actualy been taking a sip when I read this. Such a classy way to say mama is a slut.
That’s OK, the kitty I adopted got around, too. Her litter had two marmies, then two torties, and finally two tuxedos…in birth order.
Of course I fixed her when I took her in. Now all the action she gets is when I rub her belly and scratch behind her ears.
Mommy…you’re squishing me!!! ;P
What a beautiful cat, I want her.
I can has the mommy? The baby kits are adorable and I would love each and every one because marmies are my favorites, but the mommy’s eyes just touched my soul…
lurkertype–Nice of you to mention the “gentleman caller” …Sounds like
“The Glass Menagerie.”
eeeeee
When I got my orange kitteh, well, he wasn’t so little. That’s really my sole regret (and probably a selfish one) about getting an adult rescue, that I never got to see what he looked like as a tiny kitty. Thankfully, seeing pictures of these babies is the next best thing.
POWER OF ORANGE!!!
This is what happens when cat beds meet clown cars.
Happy Caturday! Love those
marmies…
Valiant effort, Momcat! Certainly one of the cutest posts ever!!!
Hehe, we always called the F.O.K.’s “gentleman callers,” too!
She’s got that eternal put-upon mama cat face down pat.
So cute! How many more are hiding in there??
You’ve heard of mama bears and lionesses with their cubs?
I bet they don’t have as daunting a glare. I pity the fool who tries to mess with her kittens.
Like the marmie-ear dino-fins in the first pic.
Aieee! Catzilla!
love the marmie and gentleman caller wording… now we are off the bit** word and back to cute adorable adjectives or special words for a kitty that likes “cat around” really liked these pics and posts…
Yeah, BerthaSchwerv, I figured your head would splode with that one. Widdle sleepy marmie heads with blue eyes peeking out from under pretty mommy kitty, yep, I can go to bed now.
Aw, mama cat looks like she could be one of my kitties’ sister. Tortie-tabby mixes are so pretty.
I love the kittens… but mom is just exquisite – what a beautiful cat.
That looks SO comfortable.
Can you really blame her? If I had little kittehs that cute I’d be doing the same thing.
doesn’t everyone catsit like this???
MAH KITTEZ.
NOT URS.
(Tiny kitten chorus:)
Yeah!
Scram!
Beat it!
What a considerate Cat gradualy revvealing the Marmie kittens so the squeeing and splodes are minimizied
The mother’s eyes are quite striking. Very beautiful.
oh that is so darn cute!!
what a bunch of adorable kitties! i want to snorgle them all! ack!
I always adore that protective mum look….
Very cute, but please spay/neuter your pets!
Hey guys…picture taker here =).
The babies aren’t actually her’s (aka Blue) lol..she just likes to pretend they are (she hasn’t had a litter). She’s a natural mama though, totally. I found it fascinating how determined she was to mother them.
Blue really is one of the most loving cats I’ve ever had..a real doll. Oh, and I promise..there are only three under there. No more babies were squished in the making of this photo =).
hers* ..it’s too early in the morning. heh
Awwww!!! This reminds me of one of my foster mamas I had this spring!!! She was the most beautiful tabby with calico colorings and the sweetest thing, too!!
And, I would like the little white-faced kitten ASAP, please!!!!
Bebehs having bebehs, harumph harumph.
Now I am laughing OUT LOUD, Staci! Even cuter knowing those are not her babies! What a sweetheart/nutjob-LOVE her (and them!)
Doesn’t everybody have a mattress stuffed with kittens? It’s way better than the sleep number bed. Good for your back AND lowers your blood pressure too!
Speaking of clever wordings, “lunchabuhls”, like “Abilify”, is one of those words that I both admire and despise at the same time every time I hear it. And it always makes me wonder about the kind of creative process that gave us such words.
LOL! I feel so sorry for the kitten directly in mom’s arms in the last photo. She just looks squooshed.
That IS a good mommy cat!
The kitteh’s are like: “But, mom, couldn’t I just go over to THAT SPOT, just for a sec??”
Mommeh cat: “Uh, no, here, let me put my arm more securely around you! Love you!”
Very cuuuute!
the face of the kitty on the very bottom in the 3rd pic is priceless. it’s little wonky eye from being smooshed…
aw.
So. Fracking. Cute.
My Mitts used to mother my foster babies like that. Last year she let three large white kittens (one nearly as big as her) nurse on her, despite lack of milk. After about 40 of them though I think she has grown tired of the mothering and would rather just chase them around.
feather beds got nothin’ on kitten beds!
The fac that she’s adopted the babies makes this three times as cute.
I wish some of the HUMAN foster mothers I work with had that strong a maternal drive.
It is somehow EVEN CUTER that she’s akshully the babysitter! (and literally)
crouching tortie, hidden marmies.
@everyone — well, I have always depended on the kindness of strangers, myself.
thanx for noticing.
@lurkertype-Crouching tortie, hidden marmies-Fantastic!!
@Staci S. -it is even more awesome that she’s not the actual mommy!
I love the kitties and Blue-absolutely gorgeous and delicious!
I want to snorgle them all and then climb in! or climb in and snorgle….
Hi everyone. We still have a wee baby kitten that needs a home. He’s posted EVERYWHERE now, and we’re waiting for responses. He’s 7 weeks old, FIV/Feline Leukemia negative, friendly as can be! (if you missed the first post, my husband found him out in the rain a few days ago.) Email me at larcombj@yahoo.com if you’re interested (and w/in 300 miles of lake cumberland in Kentucky).
Merv.
Kittens: Blue is our blanket, we shall not want!
Merv, I wish that I could take you up on that offer of an adorable kitten.
Good luck with YOUR foster and thank you for taking in this little one.
I want to get in there with them ’til spring arrives.
*squee!*
@Hon Glad: Too right!!!!!
Squee!! Hydra-cat mutation? So glad to be back from the land of cute (aka Japan) to this.
i wonder how many there actually are in there?
seems like there are more than three.
very adorable!
Crouching tortie, hidden marmies? Oh, Lurkertype, you have made my day! Now, I’m off to practice my (still unnamed, folks), cello!
Picture No. 3 – talk about your sweet surprises! No box of “Cracker Jack” could evah top this! Beauties!
I just wanna go hug the babysitter who’s hugging the babies…
that is so freaking cute
