I’ve Got My Eye on You, Pal…

… and I’ve got my other eye on your friend, there, so don’t try anything funny.  And, um … if you could just stand next to each other and try not to move in different directions, that would be great, thanks.

Seriously, could one of you jiggle my head a little?

You’ve opened our eyes, Jaime G.

There is a Billy Squier song called “Eye On You,” with the chorus going, “Got my eye on you.”

At my desk at work, I have a snapshot of my grand-nephew, giving a very suspicious eye over his mom’s shoulder. Because his lil cheek is smushed into her shoulder, one eye looks larger than the other.

Every time that song comes up on my iPod, I find myself looking at the photo. “Got my eye on you.”

Now I have a new visual reference to add to this.

Oh well, it made sense in my head.

    My precious.

BTW, this is off topic, but did any one see the story of the student in China who was bitten by a panda. He jumped the fence into the panda enclosure to give the panda a hug and it bit him. He wasn’t seriously hurt but he said the panda looked so cute and cuddly he just didn’t think it would bite. I guess even cute and cuddly animals have personal space issues. Lets all be careful with our wildlife interactions out there.

Ok, back to cute sloth (or whatever) baby. Someone please help him with that eye will you.

  18. crazyweinerdoglady says:

    yes, bebehh sloth…

OFF TOPIC – Who won the trivia contest????

  19. chanpon says:

@Noelle – Good for the panda! If someone found me cute and cuddly, and decided to break into my home to give a hug, I’d bite him too. Yeah, appreciate the nice thought, but um, no thanks.

  25. @crazyweinerdoglady: We did pick a winner, and I’m working on a post with the announcement and answers for tomorrow. My apologies for not having it ready today, but holiday plans plus our day jobs have kept us all busy. :-)

Since she spies, some separate souls... - Ed.]

This post has a baby sloth and beat poetry. Honestly, if someone can’t appreciate that, the only suitable response is pity.

    (Off to click paypal button.)

  40. Redboned says:

That is one wall-eyed little scoper, isn’t he? Ah, but I’m sure they’ll eventually end up pointing in the same general direction. He just needs a little practice playing peep-eye. :D

  45. Katrina says:

I am fascinated that this little fella has inspired Beat poetry. He doesn’t have a beret, and if I’m remembering correctly, he doesn’t resemble Allan Ginsberg, but, poetic license is a wonderful thing! You are just right, Berthaservant.
Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Thursday, peeps!

I have a ‘lazy eye’ does that count as strabismatic?

  46. hamster-on-rye says:

  47. Adam says:

The caption and description have made me laugh all three times I’ve read them. “[T]ry not to move in different directions”… I love it.

  48. Blazora says:

    People today are SO stupid.

Sloths are my mum’s favourite animals, and one of mine (my main one is a seal), and nobody nowadays pronounce sloth like you SHOULD.

First, say “oh”, as in, “oh my god your clothes are so ten minutes ago”.
Secondly, say “oh” in sloth, rather than “O” in “Dog”.

SO remember, say “oh” in sloth, instead of “O”!
