What the bleen? did they tattoo the poor puddies? Tell me they didn’t. Then, tell me how they did get the pups color coded. I really need to know.

Poor Junior-he always just a little bit slower than the others….
I love the idea of color coding them! ‘Cause otherwise they’d always be trying to trick you and stuff.
The color coding is just for practical reasons. Things like the vet checking them and shots and stuff. So Junior does not get his own and his sibs as well. Also for the furless mom and dad to keep track of things as well. It is usually a nontoxic paint like stuff that will eventually wear off. The favorite I’ve seen was colorful mini hawks down their heads.

I’m betting a nickel that we’re seeing some dabs of food coloring on those pups, to help differentiate them from each other so their health and weight can be monitored. It’s probably not safe for pups that little to wear collars.

My aunt lives on a farm and bred her Golden one year. All those pups (plus mom) are long gone now – I was just a little kid when she had them. Looking at this picture made me tear up something fierce.

Wow, the only Golden pups I’ve been around had more hair. But that was after adoption-appropriate age. Maybe they’re balder when they’re just borned.
