Bunnaloons or Cataloons?

What’s hotter this season? [Runway music starts]

First, we have gaucho Bunnaloons. Pants that hug your shape and even look great with last-year’s Ugg boots.

Next up, if you’re looking for two-toned and slimming, try these straight-leg bunnaloons.

I am sorry to hijack this post, but your good vibes are needed. My youngest cat, Philo, the one we hand-raised and bottle-fed since he was two weeks old (abandoned by mom) is in the hospital and as I type this is undergoing exploratory surgery.

He had a vomiting problem that was steadily getting worse, and was constant over the last week. I was unable to get him in to see the vet until Saturday. He spent the weekend in the ER, on IV fluids, because he was dehydrated (he’s very small, only 6 lbs. despite being a year and a half old). They thought he swallowed something (showed up on X-ray) but that moved to his intestines. Then they thought it was a pyloric stenosis. Then yesterday morning the vet called and said if the day went well, he could come home. Then at lunch, she called and said he’d eaten, but kept throwing it up again. So they’re cutting my baby open. :(

Please, just spare a thought or good vibe or prayer for my littlest of furbutts. I just want my brat back, healthy and happy. Husband and I went to see him last night and he was just a puddle of purrs and headbutts. It was so hard to leave him.

And Obligatory OnTopic: Of course cataloons are cuter!

    Noelegy,

My sincerest prayers and cuddly thoughts to you and your baby Philo. I had a cat (still have him, actually) that had a serious problem with crystallization in his urine. Back and forth to the vet, he spent a week there on a catheter at one point. Almost got to the surgical stage, but he finally got through it.

Long story short, I feel your pain. It’s so hard to “wait and see” when it’s your precious. Please let us know how things turn out.

    Oh, and CATALOONS ROCK!

  20. villy says:

When I first read this, I thought Meg said “Bunway music.” Which she totally SHOULD have done. ;D

  22. kar says:

More good wishes for Philo. I went through a similiar thing with one of mine. I think that it was the mother of all hairballs despite not showing up the upper GI.

Hopefully Philo has something just as uncomplicated.

BTW, are those grass stains in the first pic?

The only thing more adorable than a little black spooky kitteh is a little black spooky kitteh in full pointy mode.

And I have the scars to prove it!

  28. Amy says:

Best wishes to little Philo! I hope he will be home and feeling better soon. ( I just brought my two kitties home vet this morning after having them spayed. I felt like an ogre dropping them off at the vet yesterday but I know it was for their own good. Motherhood is tough!)

  29. snapszen says:

I’m loving the first bunny’s green stained face!

  31. Noelegy says:

Thank you everyone. The vibes worked! He came through his surgery fine, but they didn’t find any foreign objects, so they took biopsies. The doc said his lymph nodes were somewhat enlarged. For now she is going to treat as for an ulcer, with antacids and anti-nausea meds. She said hopefully I will get to bring him home tomorrow.

  32. Noelegy says:

  33. Noelle says:

Noelegy…I’m so glad to hear Philo made it through. What an absolute cutie he is!!! Still sending good thoughts that they find whatever was wrong and fix him up good as new.

About the post…will this be on America’s Next Top Model tonight. I think we’ll have to send the first bun home for the dirty mouth. She/He can come model at my house, I don’t care about a little dirt.

  34. shannomo says:

The first Bun Bun has grass stains on his mouf. How precious is that?

  35. BeckyMonster says:

    Noelegy,

What a cutie! Glad to hear it wasn’t something really bad, and hope the further tests turn out OK. Maybe he just ate something really gross while you weren’t looking and is too ashamed to admit it! Get well soon little Philo!

  36. Gail (the first one) says:

@Noelegy: Awww! What a cutie!!! I know how stressful it is to wait and wonder. I hope it turns out to be nothing, maybe just some kind of weird cat-flu!!

And, I love cataloons and bunnaloons, too!!!

  37. Joanna says:

The last one is the lolcat
“i made you a cookie, but i eated it!”

  38. Laura says:

OMG! The open mouth with the pink lips and the tiniest peek of tongue! It’s WAY TOO MUCH QTE. I’ve supernova’d.

Only to come back and see the incredible ROUNDNESS OF KNEES on the black kitteh. Now THOSE are catpantballoons.

  39. Katrina says:

Noelogy- best of luck with Philo, (adorable!!!!) kids, huh? Motherhood really can be awfully trying…but hang in there, try to get a good night’s sleep.

  40. Karebear says:

CUTE love the grass/lettuce stained mouth on the first one. I had a white guinea pig that used to always get that.

  41. berthaservant says:

    Hooray for Philo’s recovery!

    And HIP-HIP-HOORAY for the PANTALOONS!!!!!

  42. Jezebel says:

Bunnaloons or cataloons? Decide which is hotter? Impossabuhls!

  43. 260Oakley says:

Oh, I am all over the Marmelade Muu Muu! I love fuzzy, shape-concealing garments. I’ll take one in Winter Pudgy, please.

  44. kar says:

Yea for Philo! Good luck with the biopsies, may they be nothing.

  45. Theresa says:

@Noelelegy, healing purrs for your little kitty’s recovery. I once had a tinycat like that, and she was an absolute terror. I remember her zinging all over the examining room, with the vet scrambling after her muttering,”It’s ALWAYS the little ones!”

  46. Theresa says:

    PS Hammer Pants!!! Hee!

  47. Noelegy says:

Theresa, the way you spelled my screen name made me giggle and think of an old poem called “The Squilililigee” by Countee Cullen. It’s in a collection called “The Lost Zoo,” which explains why various animals didn’t make it onto the Ark. The poem is actually quite sad in a way; the Squilililigee was sad because all the other animals made fun of its name, and so it deliberately stayed behind.

I checked this book out of the library when I was about 6, and when I got to the part about the tears in the Squilililigee’s eyes as the waters rose, I burst into tears at the sadness of it all.

    But anyway.

When I called the vet Saturday morning to see if we could get in to see her, Philo was zipping all over the bedroom, bouncing and running and playing and basically displaying NO evidence of being ill.

  48. mervtheflamingo says:

Noelegy: Were you a philosophy major at a large university? I met a girl in a philosophy program with the same screen name.

THREADJACK: REPEAT POST: Apologies– But please read–

ATTENTION CUTEOVERLOADERS AND CAT LOVERS IN GENERAL:

If you would like to adopt a baby kitten (approximately 5 weeks old, eating solid food– we think):

My husband found a wee baby kitten, dirty, skin and bone, crying like the dickens out in the rain 20 minutes ago. We can’t take him in permanently, because we’d be in violation of our lease, as we already share a rented house with 2 rescued kitties and 1 dog. If you’re within 250 of Lake Cumberland (Kentucky), we’ll bring Isaac Mewton to you, as long as you can prove to us 1) you’re allowed to have him, meaning, if you rent, prove to us your Landlord allows kitties, or prove to us you own your property.

    2) Show us you will keep him INDOORS if you live in a city or near a road!

You can email me at larcombj@yahoo.com if you’re interested, and we can send you pictures.

We’re taking him to be tested for feline leukemia/FIV and other such things tomorrow.

Sorry to post this here, with such desperation. We live in the country, and see far too many dead kitties on our roads!

    Merv

  49. Maggie says:

OkAY, who is a member of Bunny Lovers Unite? Snerk!

(BLU: for all your bun-pants needs)

  50. Mrs. McGinty says:

“And finally, don’t forget, orange arm bangles do wonders for concealing a pear-shape…”

erm. ahem. No, they don’t. They really, really don’t. I am so, so sorry to have to tell you this sad but unavoidable twooth, kitty dear. But, KITTEH CATALONES! Yay!

  51. misscrisp says:

First, cuddles to Philo and wishes for a speedy recovery.
Second, O!M!G! after all this time, one of my kitties is on C.O.!!! I am grinning from ear to ear and giggling over shiny black Ricoh in his curvy cataloons! YAY. That is just so exciting. Yes I am a total dork and if they tracked intertube habits at my work I would be fired by now for the frequency of my visits here. Thanks Meg and crew for all you do.

  52. needs rabbit approval says:

That first rabbit has such an expression of disapproval.

  53. jayjay says:

Cat number 3 is absolutely arresting. A fine picture.

  54. warrior rabbit says:

Da bunny being given offerings has a little tuft of almost-ready-shed-and-definitely-pluckable hair on its cheek, and I just want to tug it. My rabbits would always glare at me balefully when I did that, but it’s just too hard to resist.

  55. littleredhen says:

    Philo,
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

    Olive, Joy, Bobbi & Fatcat

  56. Selphie le Boffin says:

Hmm, I can’t decided whether I prefer my bunaloons with extra disapproval (pic 2) or open moufs (pic 3).

  57. mberkie0 says:

Cataloons RAWK, of course, particularly if they are of the palazzo pant variety. Of further course, Mr. Picky’s cataloons are cataloony-toons!

  58. Noelegy says:

Merv, no, I majored in English and attended college in Texas. I can only assume the person to whom you refer is also a Kansas fan, because the screen name was inspired by the song “Nobody’s Home.”

“No monuments were carved in stone
    No elegy was read…”

And it’s kind of a pun on my name. :)

  59. Noelegy says:

Whoops, that is “No requiem was ever sung, no elegy was read.” Try recalling lyrics of one song when you’re listening to another (facepalm).

  60. mberkie0 says:

BTW, didja notice the full set of armaments on pic #5 black velveteen cataloons? I would take this model to my mani-pedi person for a little attensh and pampurrring!

  61. RosyBunny says:

Hi, I’m the mom of the white bunny, Coco. All the items on this runway are so hot! I love them all!!!

Last, but not the least, all the best to Philo!

  62. Kris says:

I’m skeert of kitty #5! Look at those claws!!!!

Noelegy, warm fuzzies for Philo. What a TINY baby he is! Hope he is well soon.

I’m 50/50 on bunaloons vs cataloons. Love the marmieloons, though! All the buns are seriously cute!

  63. Paunchie says:

Philo is a little cutie! But he reminds me a little of that “mean kitty” vid!

Actually mean kitty is probably black kitty with claws out!

  64. Noelegy says:

Well, I just talked to the ER vet. Philo is still vomiting, and they can’t find any reason for it. He has an appetite, so putting in a feeding tube won’t do anything for him. The food hits his stomach and comes right back up again. She’s going to try to feed him some very bland mushy food tonight and see how that works. She also said that he’s to the point that he cowers in the back of his cage whenever they approach. :( She can’t send him home as long as he’s vomiting like this. My poor baby. I am at my wit’s end.

  65. Squinty says:

dude, fix the link on the plus sized white skirt bun… i wanna see it full sized & put it on my desktop!

[Hmm, hadn't noticed that. Fixed now... - Ed.]

  66. Paunchie says:

    awwwwwwwwww :( for Philo.

  67. Rachel Sexy says:

CATALOONS! My Lady Sophia has the sexiest cataloons evar.

  68. PACAT says:

very fuzzy wuzzy plus a big ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh factor

  69. Noelegy says:

To everyone who expressed concern and well wishes to Philo: the story has a happy ending. We went to see him last night–and oh my goodness, was he a happy boy to see us–and they fed him a small dollop of baby food (meat), which he kept down. They kept him on IV fluids throughout the night, and feeding him gradually increasing amounts of baby food every two hours. The vet reports that he did not vomit at all. She said I can take him home today. Yay!

So he’s going home with kitty antacids and instructions to feed him very small meals of baby food every two hours until he recovers.

Thanks again for all your kind thoughts!

    [*whew* - Ed.]

  70. Ellen says:

Poor Philo. Did the doctors tell you to watch out for any ingredients in baby food? Most baby food is pretty bland, but read the label for onion or garlic powder. Is fatal to kitties.
