Think of the babies these two will have.. Yikes!!

2 Fegli 09.15.08 at 4:12 pm

How does this even happen?! Ostriches have a reputation for being kinda jerkish (solidified by the one at the zoo trying to attack me last summer). But ah well, it’s a giraffe so I’m morally obligated to go “Squeeee!!!!” :)

3 MandaBain 09.15.08 at 4:13 pm

The next pic I wanna see is of the two necks twisted up like a pretzel with them smooching at the top!

4 Mandy 09.15.08 at 4:14 pm

Awww, true love!!

5 Redzilla 09.15.08 at 4:19 pm

Yeah, Katiedid. Think of how big an omelet you could make out of a giraffe egg. :D

6 biscuithead 09.15.08 at 4:24 pm

8 berthaservant 09.15.08 at 4:39 pm

Ahhh, the glorious denizens of Great Neck, falling in love….

9 jabbo 09.15.08 at 4:40 pm

Fuhgedaboutit, Jake. It’ll never work. You need more than long necks around which to build a lasting relationship.

This will only last till the next migration.

10 metsakins 09.15.08 at 4:41 pm

Will their parents understand?

11 Mary (the first) 09.15.08 at 4:42 pm

This is just wonderful.

12 Erebella 09.15.08 at 4:54 pm

LOL! As soon as I read the vertebrae line, I knew this was a Nom Tom post. Love your sense of humor! Okay, chin up, you two.

17 pyrit 09.15.08 at 5:12 pm

Nope, a romance like that, could be a pain in the neck.

18 Kar 09.15.08 at 5:20 pm

Pyrit, you had to go there didn’t you?

19 pyrit 09.15.08 at 5:21 pm

Giraffe: “I used to be a great sword swallower!
Ostrich: “Ooh, why’d ya quit?”
Giraffe: “I couldn’t see the point.”

Every witty thang I thought to say, yawl have already said. I’m in awe.

25 AmyJ 09.15.08 at 6:37 pm

Berthaservant, excellent Long Island reference. And how are you?

Jabbo, are you telling me ostriches migrate?!?

And yes, interspecies snorgling for sure!

26 paulajeanne 09.15.08 at 6:40 pm

Please, if this is photoshopped, don’t tell me. (hope it’s not) I prefer to gaze at the simple sweetness, peace, and beauty of it all in ignorance. Thanks.

27 curious 09.15.08 at 6:43 pm

I had no idea that giraffes could sit/lie down. I thought they slept standing?

28 Tee 09.15.08 at 7:04 pm

Sweeeeet!

29 Kats 09.15.08 at 7:53 pm

how absolutely lovely

30 Katrina 09.15.08 at 8:31 pm

I want a giraffe egg.

31 Czechmate 09.15.08 at 9:09 pm

Friends furever! Or is it furfeather? Love it!

32 AuntieMame 09.15.08 at 9:21 pm

As has been pointed out, this should be Interspecies Snorgling and Matchingks!

33 Brenda 09.15.08 at 9:22 pm

Whoa! Inter-species dating!

34 DLR 09.15.08 at 10:32 pm

Oh that is so cute to see animals of different species getting along. I presume that is at a zoo or animal park? I guess people with long necks do stick together, lol. So cute! :-)

35 MoonCatty 09.15.08 at 11:53 pm

The love that dare not speak it’s name…

36 Megan 09.16.08 at 3:42 am

Yeah my first thought was hey, I’ve never seen a giraffe sitting down like that!

37 Totalee Puppy 09.16.08 at 3:44 am

Great photograph, great text by NTMTOM, great comments on this one!

38 bookmonstercats 09.16.08 at 5:51 am

I am now officially kilted ded.

39 Mr Flapper Duck 09.16.08 at 5:59 am

True love overcomes obstacles. These two are adorable. Long live Giraffe-Ostrich love!

40 taj 09.16.08 at 4:21 pm

would a giraffe egg have giraffe spots?

41 Katrina 09.16.08 at 5:47 pm

taj- yes, of course! *snert*

42 scooterpants 09.17.08 at 2:53 am

So, NTMTOM seems a lil
intimidated by our constant demand for
INTERSPECIES SNORGING
category representation.
No worries Mikey, you cant be all the men all the time.
sometime you must submit to the insistance of the COL audience.
now, please to add.
it must be so. we will still lurve ya.

43 darkshines 09.17.08 at 8:36 am
44 Theo 09.17.08 at 12:17 pm

Whoa, Darkshines. Synchronized sitting.

45 Katrina 09.17.08 at 12:50 pm

Of course they are sitting, they are laying their eggs! (*SHESH*)

46 abad 09.18.08 at 7:55 am

This is pretty funny. A giraffe and an ostrich? Maybe the only thing they recognized about each other is the neck length. True love is blind about everything else though. ;)
