Alright, who left the kitten on the grill?

It’s everyone’s favorite Caturday activity!

Let’s play (and tape ourselves playing!) "Find the Kitteh"!

Kent R., I count 16 hiding places. You?

70 comments … read them below or add one

  1. The LOLcat intertitles are what I might call “Gelding the Lily.”

Because that cat needs NO help being entertaining.

    Oh, and Theo?

    Bite Larry Edmunds’ Ear, Numbskull.

  2. Kez says:

    Yoink!

*grabs kitty and runs away with it*

  3. Annie says:

Yep 16 hiding places…hmmm but they forgot a shoe.. all kittens hide in shoes… it is some kind of universal Kitten Law

  4. Boomer's Babysitter says:

That kitty mew at the end got an “awwww” from this dog lover!!

  5. serfer0 says:

    Both vids have great music!

  6. AuntieMame says:

    Gelding the Lily? LOL!

And squee at the kitteh crawling out from under the sheets!

  7. ashagato says:

    i’m with you, b-serv…
good thing the kitteh’s so incredibly cute!

  8. Totalee Puppy says:

A Caturday treat! I could watch this kitten all day…I wouldn’t have thought of the belly-dance music, but it does kind of work for kitten antics…

  9. ashagato says:

but it’s “gilding” the lilly, no?

  10. chanpon says:

This would be a dream of mine, to have that little kitten come walking out of every crack, crevice, hole, cabinet I happen to be near. How do I arrange that?

    Final kitty mew is DEADLY!

  11. Juniper Jupiter says:

    O…M…G!
LURVE the squeak at the end!! >^.^<

But were they trying to mail the kitteh to Abu Dhabi? I hope not!!

  12. Ashagato…yes, but I’m referring to a very obscure sketch on SCTV (“Canadian Gaffes and Practical Amusements”) where the devilishly handsome Philip Marks (played by Joe Flaherty) mispronounced it. Seriously. That’s how much of a nerd I am.

  13. yankeebird says:

LOL @ the last part of BServ’s first comment. Clever man.

[Too clever for me; I have zero idea what he's talking about this time, even if he's trying to be intentionally insulting. Oh, and I've never seen any Second City stuff... - Ed.]

  14. Elmo&Dana says:

Youtube’s been recommending this video to me for the past two weeks.

  15. binky-mama says:

I agree chanpon. I would like to have a kitten hand me my toothbrush when I open the medicine cabinet!

@berthaservant: One of these days I will actually get one of your obscure references (probably a MST3K reference). As for now…I feel stoopid.

  16. Erebella says:

Kitteh in the coffee maker is my favorite one. What a little doll!

  17. coot says:

the face at 1:20 is bitchin’ cute.

  18. Please do NOT feel stupid just because I am a dork! Joe Flaherty himself probably wouldn’t remember.

And Theo, Larry Edmunds is a collector’s store in Hollywood (books, movie stills), the sentence is nonsense except as an acronym.

I’m off the deep end, y’all. Feel free to ignore me if I get to weird. I’ll normal up at some point and go back to being genuinely clever and not just hopelessly obscure.

    Pa-sickie! See? I’m okay!

  19. And NEVER insulting, Theo, just a little teasing at times. ;-P

  20. AuntieMame says:

I’m assuming Theo is joking when he says he doesn’t understand the second part of BS’s comment??? (I mean…I got it, and I don’t understand anything.)

[No, instead I Googled "Larry Edmunds", both with and without "ear", and got nowhere... - Ed.]

  21. lurkertype says:

    Kee-tayn!!!

    THEO’S NEVER SEEN SCTV????

Right, Ed., turn in your Geek Card. Epic FAIL! Why, they’re second only to Python in clever-osity.

Now, must watch floofy fuzzy tiny kitteh again.

  22. lurkertype says:

Indeed, Teho not knowing SCTV is Really Scary, huh, BerthaS?

  23. sue says:

    kitteh has bedhair!!!!!

  24. cheryl says:

ok, i’ve checked all the hiding places in my apartment and NO KITTEN. not fair. this kitteh is just so cute. and the music is perfect.

  25. debbsc says:

Gelding!?! Yikes. Not quite the same as gilding the lily.

That kitten is seriously cute! I’ve got a kitty who likes getting under the covers, too.

  26. Monique says:

They were being mean to the kitty! He looked scared in the mailbox and the drawer. Baby kitties should just get to play and sleep and cuddle, not be closed into scary boxes on purpose.

  27. Amanda says:

What a nuffer, Monique! I’m sure bebe kitten is very safe and very loved! The vid taker was never too far aay to save the day! The meeoooww @ the end was a bomb though!

  28. audrey says:

    deelechous

  29. Gail (the first one) says:

Even I, a devotee of SCTV, didn’t recognize that one!!

(A little sidetrack….does anybody else think Gov. Palin looks like the schoolmarm from Blazing Saddles?)

  30. Katrina says:

Oh, Gail (the first one), you scamp you….

  31. dub1 says:

This is how much of a nerd I am, and only ‘cuz I couldn’t hit ‘mute klezmer’ fast enuff:

‘To *PAINT* the lily/To gild refined gold/To add another mew unto the kitteh’

I want to try the koffee pot/kitteh experiment ASAP to once again prove the theorem that cats are both a liquid AND a solid.

  32. crazyweinerdoglady says:

Thanks Monique for not letting me down. As soon as I saw this video I thought “OH HELL, some nuffer is gonna whine about this”

  33. Once again. I died happy. Thanks CO. :D DD

  34. ekb* says:

kitteh AND a happy little breakbeat? what more does a kitteh-loving breakbeat DJ need? NOTZINK! :o D

  35. Theresa says:

Gail, I thought she took a little fashion inspiration from Edith Prickly myself.

(remember Edith giving instructions on how to fake a “big O”?)

Teho, you couldn’t be serious about never seeing SCTV– could you?
[You couldn't be serious about never reading Zebra Girl, could you? - Ed.]

  36. leslie says:

One of the 10 best ever, IMHO. Thanks for my daily dose of squeals & joy.

  37. Kristy says:

I’m totally in agreement with Monique…I thought the kitty looked confused and scared in many of the “hiding” places. I would NEVER do that to my kitten just for my own amusement/video-making. This definitely belongs in “cute or sad” and it’s definitely sad.

  38. Katiedid says:

oh be quiet.. kittens love to explore. Its not like they left him in a place that he couldnt get out of. The kitten would have probably checked out about half of those hiding spaces on its own.

  39. Fegli says:

Oh pffft. Kittens love to get into stupid places and do silly things… I’m pretty sure they didn’t try to smush her/him in the coffee pot, after all. And besides it’s not like he/she was unsupervised.

At any rate, I was seriously digging the yoda ears on that little guy/girl!

  40. Shaz says:

I do hope the kitty’s been gelded also, humanely, at the vets. It’s good to fix yer kitties…

Yes, the kitty looked a bit nervous in bits, but I’m with the last poster… It’s all adventure, and the cat was supervised. I’ve looked like that myself on some of my own adventures, and I’m a human!

  41. Shaz says:

    And I was NOT supervised!

  42. Tricia says:

It’s not cute or funny to put kitties in dark places and leave them–just a note for any kids out there who might get ideas from the vid. (not a nuffer, just looking out for future kitty generations) ;)

  43. jen says:

aaaa! kitten meow at end keels me.

  44. Gail (the first one) says:

@Theresa: Always, you are keeling me!! Good call on Edith Prickly!! Ah-HAH!!!! Ah-HAH!!! (slaps you on the back)

  45. claudia says:

I’m Canadian, have watched SCTV, and don’t remember much myself, but even I got the acronym ;)

    Sweet little kitten meow *smooch*

  46. Governor Palin will be Edith Prickley in about 15 years.

But at least she won’t be Edith’s sister, Edna Boil.

(Teho, http://www.larryedmunds.com. Again, it doesn’t make any sense, the initials just fit, I couldn’t think of any other famous people with the initials “L.E.” at that moment).

  47. Michelle S says:

    lol@nuffs

Yay Nalts! My favorite nutjob YouTuber! :D :D

  48. lurkertype says:

Whilst I heartily approve of berthas. SCTV quotage, I must admit his post at the top of this thread (snerk, nice wording, lurkie) did put me off a bit. I myself have bought some Quite Good Stuff from Larry Edmunds and didn’t think he should be kronsched upon by some strange northern/middle area person.

But thanks for reminding me of the halcyon days of Bob and Doug (you hoser, eh?), the Shmenge Bros, the Days of the Week, Earl Camembert, being blowed up real good. Fabulous, I must say.

  49. Jezebel says:

OMG! That house is infested with kittehs! Call Terminix!

  50. Shasta says:

It would have been a lot cuter if they hadn’t actually been placed in those obscure spots and then released from them… C’mon now, how many kittens do you see getting themselves into a mailbox and then shutting the door behind them.
Seemed like a rather mean thing to do for the sake of a vid/post…

  51. Katrina says:

Kittehs in unexpected places- don’t ya just hate it when that happens? (*snerk*),
    me neither.

  52. yankeebird says:

Teho, have you figured BServ’s comment out yet? Would it help to see it in acrostic form?

    Bite
    Larry
    Edmunds’
    Ear
    Numbskull

[Um thanks, I didn't need help with *that* part, let's move on please... - Ed.]

  53. Theresa says:

@Bertha-Serv, and Lurkertype– “Make me a woman, big boy!” :P

  54. Brenda says:

    Adorable kitty! He’s a super star! :)

  55. knightofmonarch says:

Cat in cup wanting coffee- great way to start your morning- KEEP ON SWINGING LITTLE BUDDY

  56. yankeebird says:

Oops. I thought that was the part you didn’t get.

    Moving on….

  57. CoffeeCup says:

I want a kitteh! I want a kitteh! But my bunny would not only disapprove, I think he’d pack up his things and move into the neighbor’s house. They grill.

Oh I love this kitty…and it can’t possibly be scared or frightened by being in a mailbox. We all put our animals in pots and mailboxes because it’s funny. And they’re animals – the cat was probably loving it.

  58. Joy says:

I watched this 3 times. I love the little miew at the end! ;-)

  59. kayouko says:

    Hahahaha, adorable!

The music is poorly mixed, though. Mah ears bleed from yer high-hats!

  60. snorglepup says:

I’m appalled and horrified that you would condone putting kitties on the grill!!!11! Think of the children. The vegitarians…
I’ll NEVER, NEVER, NEVER visit this site again!
    OK. Enoughs anuff*

  61. CG says:

    hooray for Balkan electronica!

  62. Mike says:

Sorry, sticking a kitten in a mailbox or a file cabinet is not cute. Just let the kitten be; he’ll be cute enough.

  63. Theo says:

OMG, it must be THAT MIKE!

  64. kitten mews really are the most precious sound in the world.

  65. Annoyed says:

It would be really cute if the captions weren’t so STUPID. I come here for daily cute, not to lose brain cells.

  66. warrior rabbit says:

Annoyed, I think you’re too late.

  67. Alexis says:

ditto. if you want cute without all the bitchy editor comments and other snark, may I suggest Icanhascheezburger.com?

  68. Theo says:

    *SNERK* @ Alexis… “without”??

  69. faunablues says:

Meh… It looks like they stuck the kitteh in various places and then filmed the kitteh coming out… I find spontaneous cuteness more cute. Also, kitteh wouldn’t have been able to get out of the mailbox or pool without human halp! The coffee pot reminded me of the days of the “bonsai kitten”

  70. nalts says:

Wow! How am I just finding this delightful home. Thanks for featuring my video. It’s actually our babysitter’s kitten http://www.youtube.com/babysitterofnalts.

I wanted her to name the cat Nalts. She says she’s putting up a video of its first bath.
