In our two cat house hold we say someone in this pose is having “cat thoughts”. I myself spend much of my work day in the exact same posture with exactly the same lack of neural activity.
Thinker? I’m expecting an Adonis-like cat a la Rodan’s masterpiece. All he reminded me of was some depressed old man who can’t remember where he left his teeth.

Actually, this kitteh is demonstrating a modified position in the Fitzmaurice voice destructuring sequence. More active kitteh’s will choose the modified half-plough, with the legs over the head, but this alternative still allows for the maximum of feeling in the back while constricting (though not, of course, REstricting) the muscles in the front. From here, kitteh can still initiate breath with release of the diaphragm and power his breath while focusing on the immense space available for breath in the back of the lungs.
Seems like a highbrow kitten. Maybe he was thinking about the classic read from Jane Austin “Scents and Sensibility” or maybe some Dickens ” A Tale of 2 Kitties” ….

Our dog sits like that a lot. We call it “Sitting like a people”.
In my job I have taken hundreds of radiographs of kittehs. This, however, proves my theory that kittehs do NOT posses bones.
