I was all splody from seeing this little kitn all calm in the water, wif him bubblegum jellybean toesies all covered wif bubbles, and then the attack of the hovertext reinforcing the text.

Regarding bathing cats – I forgot to mention that apart from using Neem shampoo, that I don’t just rub in the shampoo: I actually massage them quite firmly – maybe this is also what helps them to relax.

Many cats have a favourite spot they like to have stroked, so this is where I start.

Then I concentrate on keeping a positive image in my mind that the cat will enjoy the bath. I realise that I talk slowly and in a slightly deeper voice to them, all the time praising them for being so co-operative, and telling them that they are going to look, and smell, and feel totally gorgeous because of the bath (like Cesar Milan’s ‘leader of the pack’ attitude towards dogs he is working with).

When I am finished I always thank them for being patient and willing to be bathed. (Even if they were not!)

Maybe this sounds odd but I have found that over time, the baths are shorter and less hassled because they feel assured.

Initially, the bathroom and I were always totally soaked. Now it is just one towel.

Gail (the first), I’ll keep you in thoughts/prayers as well. Please take your pup in ASAP… the sooner it’s caught (if there is anything to catch), the more likely they can treat it.

@meadowgirl: As a native born Texican, I am obliged to continue use the word “y’all”! It is the polite method for southern speakers to employ when indicating the plural of “you” as they are speaking. Too often, one sees it in movies (especially those made in the 50′s and 60′s) used in place of all forms of “you”, including the singular.
