In March, Meg posted a picture of a flying squirrel, which just happened to be cradled in my hands. I have tiny bitten fingernails that you’d think would be completely inoffensive… but somebody commented to complain about them.

I really love it when animals are cradled in a person’s hands. I think it makes it all the cuter, and adds another layer of complexity – it gives scale to the creature, shows the carefulness of the human and trust of the animal, and generally shows the dialogue between human and creature. This perfect pocket puppeh is cute, cute, cute – and all the cuter because the big, protective hands make her look so small, and she trusts the person so much and OH MY GOD IS THAT HER TINY LITTLE TAIL?
