what a wonderful way to start a monday morn at work.
this is adorable.
(cept’in for the nuff, and who cares bout that anywho?)
‘pulls out fly/nuff swatta’ and starts a swingin’
Kind of creepy imo. Like a Jim Henson, almost too human thing…for me to poop on (sorry, but while we’re anthropomorphizing I might as well get that out of my system).
[Jim Henson (RIP) had nothing to do with "Triumph the comic insult dog" y'know... - Ed.]
tamili, there are some things you can’t photoshop (not that I’d know, actually), but I’d swear you can’t photoshop sheer happiness, and this pup’s got it.
Surely if you look up happy in the dictionary, you’ll find this pic. At least in the GOOD dictionaries. Wow, that’s just a great pic. Okay, which pic to have on desktop….gorgeous guy already there or cute pup? The fact that the gorgeous guy can smile like this pup makes it difficult. Srsly.
Can someone define “nuffer’ for me. I think I get it from the context in which it is used, but, I just called someone one and I want to be sure I’m correct.
Michelle, the word “nuff” originally meant those people who whinged that the pictures weren’t cute enough (e-nuff) for them. It has been generalized to anyone who criticizes for any reason–not cute enough, animal cruelty, photoshop, whatever. It’s CO-speak for “troll.”
Absolute perfection in the “Smile — Dogs” category. Also useful in the “contagious emotions” entry. Very nice in all aspects — Thanks for today’s serving of endorphins!
Oh, wow. Sheer joy. It’s a making my Monday tolerable, til I can get home to my doggie babies! Thanks CO…one less bitter, hungover chick in the world cuz of you!
I might have to make this one my desktop wallpaper. This one might just unseat my other favorite, the proud yet trying to be scary praying mantis in the FL suburb.
Love the puppeh! I wonder if he’s maybe just a little young for a “that’s what SHE said” joke though?? Let’s keep the kids innocent for as long as we can!
Reminds me a bit of one of my obnoxious coworkers who states each Monday, “Don’t you just LOVE MONDAYS!?” in a loud cheery voice. Only this pup could get away with it because of the tres cuteness. Coworker, not so much.
Berthaservant, u don’t know me ..a long time lurker..comment only a couple times..but i just LOVED YOUR 4:22 COMMENT..you got that one right..btw..don’t worry………be happy..la la la la la la
Why does everyone insist on calling Theo “Teho”? is this a typo or an inside joke?
BTW-this picture is my new wallpaper. I have a very serious Shih-tzu mix who rarely smiles.
lisamarie, thanks for the shout out…I see this look on the faces of my students in the afternoon classes (UCSB standing for “U Can Study Baked” apparently). The improv games become just a little TOO amusing.
Mary, I’m not sure where “Teho” came from, but I do know that I call the cat named Theo who lives with me “Teho” (pronounced “Tay-ho” for me, not “Tee-ho”). So, typo that became an inside joke? Or vice-versa? Who knows!
I always assumed that “Teho” was a play on the common error of typing too fast and accidentally writing “teh” instead of “the”.
The = teh, Theo = Teho
But I have been known to be wrong a time or two so who knows for sure…
Next time I come across someone who insists that dogs don’t/can’t smile, I will show them this photo, and then I will say “DO NOT BE SUCH A SMARTY PANTS!”
I just had to drive to L.A. across the Mojave and back. I’m tired, I’m worn-out from the heat and I wanna go home, but home is still about 1000 miles away. I needed to see this little pooch-a-roo laughing. What a great pic.
Michelle, don’t listen to those people, they’re lying. “Nuffer” is actually a misspelling of the French “neuf heure,” which means “nine o’clock.” It’s actually a very long and complicated story as to where it came from, but it’s basically equated with “being out in left field” (which is where 9 is on a clock), not to mention the numerical reference hints at RADAR lingo, as in “look out, we’ve got a whiner on the screen” kind of thing.
I know what they told you before, but it’s all hokum. I’m telling you the honest-to-Pete origin of “nuffer” here. No lie.

That puppy is definitely laughing. Look at the eyes!
Hey, what can I say? I’m a morning person – er, dog!
That dog is smiling at me!
So unbelievably adorable. And I’m not a dog person.
Shaggy black dog has no appreciation for comedy…
And people wonder why we anthropomorphize our animals?!!? This dog is LAUGHING at my jokes, I tell you! Laughing!
that puppeh has clearly had coffee already this morning. which i clearly need. not as much as i needed to see a laughing puppeh, though.
The guys in my office say that line all the time. I loved it.
Smiling dog on Monday morning = just what I needed.
WANT!!! XD
Happy Happy
Joy Joy!
Hey! How do I make a submishe?

This pup looks so happy I wonder if he’s got a little wake ‘n’ bake going on…
made my hot(and grumpy) morning better… eeeh it’s 730 am and it’s already 20 celcius!
RedZ, really, I feel like I know more about you than I strictly ought to.

Oh, yay, my second published submission! That makes me two of… fifty?
How can that smile not make you smile?
Awwwww Meeeg, I luuuurve youuuuu….. ! (And yet I’m a perfectly SWF and not even really a dog person!)

S is for Straight – I think…
(usually “Single” actually, Pooh)
(to be fair, though, it’s been quite some time since I’ve had any reason to think about that)
what do I know as I don’t trawl the personals…
…as there’s enough ac-shon on CO ! although all the seemingly attractive guys live on the other side of the Earth…
… and/or are married …
… not that I’m looking… (OK, I’ll stop here) Bye for now from this side of the Earth!
[snerk!]
Just looked at the comments under the b****y squirrlios, and it’s just as I suspected, Teho has had too much coffee this morning AGAIN

Thank you for the origin, AuntieMame!
I used it in the correct context.
Hey Michelle —

(BTW, which Michelle is this, now? I think we might have more Michelles on CO than any other name…)
OMG precious! XD
For some reason that puppy reminds me of someone I know :p
Ray…I was actually just thinking that. Maybe we know the same person.
Anyhoo, absolutely adorable puppy! Me Want!
I KNEW it!
Dogs DO laugh!!
Great shot man ;D
Photoshop?
You gotta be kiddin me man.
That is so not a photoshop, that is a seriously happy puppy!
>.> Yep very aware that Jim Henson and the writers of Conan O’Brien didnt brainstorm that skit. But if any dog were to be Triumph, itd be this one.
This might be my favorite post ever. It is just so perfect. I wish my Chewie would do this.

I saw this pic on neatorama last week and thought it was just the cutest ever.
SO freaking adorable!
[Scooped on cuteness by *Neatorama*?!! How embarrassing... - Ed.]

Peeps, this is what Teho looks like after he’s had too much coffee.
(I’m only guessing, but I’m sure I’m right!)

Dammit – that is the cutest dog in the entire world!
My golden retriever used to smile like that, too.
I always assumed that “Teho” was a play on the common error of typing too fast and accidentally writing “teh” instead of “the”.
The = teh, Theo = Teho
But I have been known to be wrong a time or two so who knows for sure…
This guy makes me happy.
Does anyone else think this guy looks like the late Art Buchwald?
ok, so dogs can laugh, but can they look up?
YankeeBird — yep, that’s it. Common furious-typer’s misspelling which stuck.
That, and it’s apparently a Finnish energy drink. BOOYAH!
@Taj- FTW! Can I buy you a pint at the Winchester?
Adorable smiley pup def made my Monday.
Next time I come across someone who insists that dogs don’t/can’t smile, I will show them this photo, and then I will say “DO NOT BE SUCH A SMARTY PANTS!”
So joyous!!!

uh-huh Redbone.
Suuuuuuuuuuure.
Hey, you know I’m right, Theo.
Either that, or I’m deliberately doing that whole “occam’s razor” thing backwards… >_>
