My name is Betty and I…

by Meg on June 29, 2008

[Pause]

My name is—well, I’m Betty.

and… I—I have a bit of a problem that landed me in the "time out" corner.

You see, I strongly believe that bed linen wrinkles are OUT TO GET US ALL and must be attacked. I didn’t MEAN to tear your duvet to shreds, but it’s for your own safety. [Closes eyes and sighs loudly]

Vicky, stay safe! [head tilt]

Betty, stay s o f t :)

3 Argentee 06.29.08 at 10:07 am

Oh dear, my Bella does the same thing. Usually at 3 am while I’m sound asleep. But when they’re this cute, you have to forgive them!

4 Hila 06.29.08 at 10:19 am

What an absolutely beautiful kitteh. That stripe on her face… *sigh* gorgeous.

5 Poohbear 06.29.08 at 10:21 am

*Sigh* – We know, Betty, we love you anyways *keesses on little stripey nosie*. Your cousin Twyla on IttyBitty has the same complaint – see “Please Clarify”…

Silly Peeps, don’t you know your houses are INFESTED with invisible (to us) aliens called Greeblings. Only kittehs and some doggehs can see them, and we are in constant danger from them. They can be in your bed as well.

7 Desdemona 06.29.08 at 10:54 am

You may think it’s your foot under the cover there, but you’re wrong. It’s the Bed Mice. They do pop up and must be firmly pounced upon. No getting around it. Sigh. A cat’s job is never done.

8 harlemgrrl 06.29.08 at 11:43 am

oh, betty… come over here and shed on me while we talk this through.

9 Bryan 06.29.08 at 11:59 am

Thanks Betty. Thanks for doing your part to protect an ungrateful populace from the menace of bed linen wrinkles. As George Orwell said, “People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough cats stand ready to do violence against bed linen wrinkles on their behalf.”

And I was only after a fly when I slashed the curtains.

11 Gail 06.29.08 at 1:25 pm

As Betty is well aware, the Department of Homeland Security has set the Bed Wrinkle threat-level alert is “Orange”.

12 Gail 06.29.08 at 1:27 pm

Sorry, should be *as Orange*. (Preview, preview, preview–LOL!!)

13 Vicky 06.29.08 at 2:03 pm

Yay!

Betty belongs to my friend. She’s every bit as adorable (and mischevious) as she looks!

Thanks for featuring her! =)

14 Christine H 06.29.08 at 2:48 pm

What a beautiful fluffy cat!

15 Kate 06.29.08 at 3:26 pm

Can Betty come play with my Opal? I have a feeling they would make the purrfect partners in crime! :) LOL

16 chanpon 06.29.08 at 3:40 pm

*sigh* Betty, you can shred my linens. It’s better than my kitties shredding my screened door to the balcony. :(

17 metsakins 06.29.08 at 3:52 pm

bed linens do contain the most delectable bed mice, rumoured to be the most succulent treat in the world. although I have never seen a picture of one, my cousin’s friend had a neighbor who once had one and said it was sooo deeelicious you couldn’t believe eet!

18 Dreamspinner Cheryl 06.29.08 at 4:45 pm

Must be bedmice that my Stoner chases when I’m trying to put clean sheets on the bed. Either that, or his prediliction for rolling in the ‘nip bed has him seeing threats that aren’t there.

Uhm, kinda like King George and his “WMDs in Iraq”?

19 Noelegy 06.29.08 at 5:29 pm

What a gorgeous girl!

Oh, dear, you think you understand lolspeak and then it goes and gets all difficult again.

Darned ol’ evolving lolspeak.

Then again it could be the Martini that is confusing me and not:

Don’t fret, fellow cuteologists, the magic of Martini helps me understand the beginning and the end. It is the middle where the magic of Martini is failing me.

Wait, I had another sip of my Martini. The magic has not failed me: Kitty is way too cute to have timeouts for anything.

Thank you Martini! Damn you cursed degree in English.

22 ThreeCatNight 06.29.08 at 7:08 pm

Betty, you are a gorgeous girl, so all is forgiven! (If I can forgive Pumpkin and Spanky running wild and breaking an antique milk glass pheasant bowl the other morning, I can forgive duvet damage!)

23 berthaservant 06.29.08 at 7:30 pm

Dreamspinner Cheryl: you cat is named Stoner? Wow. (Putting DC on my “cool” list).

By the way, this kitty here, this “Betty” is one of the most GORGEOUS calicos I have ever seen. That stripe on the face is hawt.

24 OJ 06.29.08 at 7:45 pm

That is a beautiful cat.

25 Juniper Jupiter 06.29.08 at 8:14 pm

She reminds me of Sis-in-law’s Cara Jo! Part Manx Calico! But Cara Jo also weighs almost 20 pounds, LOL!! But the funny thing is, she doesn’t feel like it, because I think most of it is her Manx hair! When she crawls up on me to sit on my lap, it’s like a walking comforter! BYOOTIFUL!!

And aboot Betty? LOVE her mussed up mascara and eyeliner!

26 CB 06.29.08 at 8:18 pm

cutest/coolest looking kitten ever.

WANT!

27 personal property of Evangeline & Lilliane 06.29.08 at 8:38 pm

I’m speaking up for Betty — whatever the offense (and she WAS only doing her part) I will vouch for her. Look at that face; she’s already been in time-out long enough. 1/2 of millesecond? WAY too long. *I’ll* do her time-out.

28 Michele 06.29.08 at 9:03 pm

I can’t even believe how cute that kitten is. Seriously. She is ridiculously cute. I just want to kiss her everywhere

29 piepie 06.29.08 at 9:25 pm

Such a pretty cat!!!

30 kar 06.29.08 at 10:21 pm

I don’t mind when they attack the wrinkled, but when my baby bites my toes, that hurts! Still though, I would never give her a time out for just being a kitty.

That is too gorgeous to be real. Seriously. This is a picture of feline perfection.
Either that or it’s a KittyBot designed to conquer the dreaded dust buffalo that lurk under our beds.
That said, I wanna nose-boop the stripey.

33 Theo 06.30.08 at 1:55 am

ClairBackwards — JMuhj is an import from ICHC. Some folks just can’t switch off the LOLspeak. That said, I think that a degree in English would actually *help* folks understand an unfamiliar dialect, be it natural or… less so.

34 Subhangi 06.30.08 at 5:26 am

::slack-jawed::

That cat is drop-dead GORGEOUS. Oh my God.

35 kk3 06.30.08 at 12:26 pm

Amazing markings…and just precious. I have a very huge soft spot for calicos…my precious Kitters was the most amazing cat (brilliant smart) that walked the face of this Earth. Her absence has left an ever-lasting void.

36 Nyn 06.30.08 at 2:36 pm

Oh wow…

That is one of the most beautiful cats I have EVER seen. And I’ve seen a LOT of cats.
Where is she from, and more importantly: where can I find more pictures of her?! I want to decorate my room with Betty-wallpaper!

Dear Vicky, please give us more pictures of your gorgeous kitty, the world needs them! :-D

@Theresa:
They’re called ‘Greeblings’ in English? That’s funny, in the Netherlands we call them ‘Mumpsen’.
Mumpsen are what cats are hunting for to protect us, but we silly hoomans can’t see them.
It’s a good thing we have cats, or we’d be doomed. Dooooooomed! *raises arms in dramatic gesture*

37 Theo 06.30.08 at 2:43 pm

In Minnesota we call them “feet”, shortly after we wake up screaming.

;)

38 Nyn 06.30.08 at 2:50 pm

@Theo:
Haha, well mumpsen mostly hang out in empty corners, cardboard boxes, under couches and on newpapers we’re trying to read.
But occasionally they will sneak into our beds as well and then they’ll get their comeuppance.

39 Patricia 06.30.08 at 4:03 pm

What a beautiful kitty. My cat doesn’t stay on the covers she does this weird burrowing thing. So anytime we sit down were there is a cover, whe have to check for a cat lump first.

40 leannrose 06.30.08 at 4:15 pm

I have such a soft spot for fluffy calicos…

@kk3–you had a smart calico? Mine’s a few bulbs short of a bright idea…but I love her anyway.

41 Ray 06.30.08 at 5:24 pm

That is the most amazingly gorgeous kitteh I’ve ever seen!
Wow!

42 Lurker 06.30.08 at 6:06 pm

My dear departed Stephanie Mittens used to love sheet-changing time. She was a very laid-back cat, and SCT was the only time she really chased anything. She’d get all absorbed in chasing the moster under the sheets and I’d just lay all the covers on top of her til she stopped jumping around.

43 Lerrinus 07.01.08 at 1:07 am

Oh, wow, such a beautiful kitten! what a sweet pose!

44 Anne 07.01.08 at 1:18 am

She is so BEAUTIFUL.

I’ve had 2 cats that will jump on the bed when I am trying to fix the sheets. So I will toss the sheet over them and tickle them through it! Then they stalk my hand while still under the sheet. Fun!

I think that maybe angels are the beings that paint cats. Think how Betty’s angel ran her brush down Betty’s nose for that one last stroke of color, then stood back, admiring.

45 abad 07.01.08 at 5:15 am

Betty, I want to cuddle you and kiss your pretty face *smooch*

46 United 07.01.08 at 1:41 pm

“But you red Was the devels color”

47 ariel 07.05.08 at 5:24 am

Wow, what a beautiful kitty. Those eyes are just gorgeous!
