I love it when I hear about completely new animals—check this out: two endangered "Addax" were born at the Louisville Zoo in the last few weeks. Their mini horn nubules will son be spiraling out of control.
More on the Addax here from Louisville Zoo. Gracias to Sender-Inner Laura E.

Ah, sweet springtime and it’s unexpected delights!!
Oh how shweet! (dies)
“can we be friends?”
“yeah, ok.”
(nuzzle)
Stop this outrageous cuteness before we all become addax addicts!
Matchingks! I love matchingks!
And YAY for endangered animals getting a helping hand from humans! (Or will the ’nuffers just start talking about how these “poor creatures” are born into “captivity”)?
Nubbular stubbies.
MARMALADE ANTELOPES?!
That is so sweet!!! Little nose-nuzzlings…
They are called “Addax” because when you addax them up, they are much cuter than two little critters usually are!
OMG ADDAX!!!
well, i must admit I’ve never heard of an addax b4, but it’s definitely really cute. kinda looks like a baby cow though. weird. i’d like two sets of the bookends plz!!
I guess Heart Addax feel better than Gas Addax! Hee!
Cute goat/cow/deer looking thingamajig.
I love discovering cute species as well. Not sure these kids’ll look great in adulthood, tho.
I live by the Louisville Zoo! Wheee! I will have to take a peek at them in rl!
I thought someone would say it based on the headline, but are the two addaxes named Mama Leone and Sergeant O’Leary?
“Who needs a house out in Hackensack?”
Subhi: MARMALOPES.
@berthaservant – Good call! I can’t see one of them being called Mr. Cacciatore.
I Luv Lou-a-vul!
My old hometown!
Next time I visit I will have to go see these two. They are beyond cutes. The Louisville Zoo is a great old zoo.
I would like mooooving pictures of these guys, I can almost here the dainty little trot trot of their hooves.
I bet they are cute when they are grown up, like some sort of extra dainty cow.
I totally missed the Billy Joel ref first time ’round. Good one, Meg! Maybe their names are Brenda(r) and Eddie!
