My only complaint was that this video was TOO SHORT. Meanwhile, what was the deal with that musical score? The raccoon couldn’t voice his thanks to you and so you supplanted his voice with Lisa Loeb’s? Great job, buddy. Talk about self-aggrandizmentz!Seriously. Very nice of the man to get the raccoon out. They are typically nocturnal so lucky he woke up to climb on out. I also have had raccys in house (never saw it but heard it come in cat door and also saw food in the cat water dish.. now the cats don’t put their food in the dish so I know it was a young racoon) and back yard. They are cute but still don’t get too close, generally speaking.

The risk of rabies in dealing with raccoons is highly overblown (at least in my state). You can check out the statistics for your own state by doing a simple search for the information. I’m not suggesting raccoons be made into pets, snorgled, or otherwise interacted with, just trying to deflect some of the hatred they endure. If you happen to see one in the daytime, it doesn’t mean it’s rabid. They will venture out for food when hungry, even during the day if necessary. This is especially true of nursing mothers. Please be kind and let them go about their business in peace. Many thanks to the man in the video!

I sent the video to my friend who incidentally had done sort of the same thing with a raccoon in HER dumpster…only she used a plank, not a side of beef…I mean, tree limb. Yay for happy endings!!
