Oh my god! So insistent! So stubborn! So like me and my brother when we were in the pool and didn’t want to come in. I love how Alaska won’t even make eye contact. Sweet little cheeky monkey. She needs some good corporeal snuggling because of this, methinks…
I knew this would end up on CO as soon as I saw it on stuffonmycat.com. Alaska is a cheeky monkey. I swear she’s saying “no” when mommy said “please?, Please?”
I’m thinking there is a solid, slashing reason why mummy doesn’t simply reach into the grotto and pick up Alaska-kitty. I mean, a reason other than showing off the cute for us all.
Oh i love this! i saw it on stuffonmycat and just lol. Is it just me or does anyone else think that British accents are some one of the prettiest (and sexiest) in the world? I love how this kitty is all like “its a nice day can’t i stay out longer mommy”" hehe
That’s the original “nyerhe”! Kitteh actually SAYS it twice at the end! Notice the intelligent look at the end when she finally gets what she wants (ten more minutos…)
Siamese cats are incredibly mouthy, especially the females.
A friend of mine had to keep her piano closed at night also. They’d get up there, play, and sing. And any time she talked on the phone to anyone, they’d hold their own “conversation.”
Knowing cats, I suspect Alaska probably emerged from her grotto 30 seconds after mommy said it was ok to stay 10 more minutes. If she has permission, then it’s no fun any more.
I love this video…have watched in way too many times.
But–not even a complaint, just wondering if memory serves–
wasn’t this already on under something like “the definition of Nyerhe”?
b/c I know I watched it a 1,000 times before today, and where else could it have been from…????
ok, now going to watch it one more time
FYI all the videos of this cat on youtube rule
ok, I would be creeped out if people across the ocean were fans of my pet.
awwwwwwwwww i srsly hearts teh siameezes cuz deyz talks so mush! WAAAAAAAANNNTTTT!!!!!!111!!!
Once when I was bored out of my gourd at a party, I sat down in a corner with my hosts’ Siamese and we carried on a conversation for a half hour. Everyone thought I was fried out of my head, but I was only drinking ginger ale. I shudder to think what it would have been like if I had been loaded! Have to try that some time.
I am Siamese if you please,
I am Siamese if you don’t please….
What kitteh is saying is,
“Oh blast, woman. Do leave me alone. Cahn’t you see I’m not interested?”
(Of course, if it were me, I’d be tipping that carrier ever so slightly, and grabbing kitteh on the fly. It works when they have to go to the Vet’s office!)
I love this video…have watched in way too many times.
But–not even a complaint, just wondering if memory serves–
wasn’t this already on under something like “the definition of Nyerhe”?

Meia, imagine that you’re a two-year-old and your momma is trying to make you do something you don’t want to do and you’re resisting with all your two-year-old might and Momma picks you up to carry you and you hold on with all your two-year-old strength. The sound is the little grunting noise of denial and rage you make when Momma finally wrenches your two-year-old fingers off the arms of the sofa. NnnnnooooyyyyeerrHE!
Oh my, that cat is cute if disobedient. XD My siamese come when called, but this one is quite cheeky!
And you know, I didn’t notice the woman was British until other people pointed it out.
What a GORGEOUS and fancy kitten! Clearly, shas MANY excellent thoughts on her mind.
My Arthur (who is an old fat, selectively-friendly / universally aloof, tabby – not NEARLY as exotic as Miss Alaska,) makes that noise at me when he is trying to sleep, and I am speaking too loudly (this often happens when I’m on the phone with my girlfriends and get excited, or when my boyfriend accuses of me of having too many shoes…)
I laughed (quietly to myself) when I heard her since I immediately thought that I probably need to lower my voice because somewhere, I was pissing off my own House Royalty for being too loud…
Hey anomalous4, remember that Irish Rovers song from 20 or so years ago, “Wasn’t that a party”? One of the lyrics goes:
“Someone’s under my kitchen table
talkin’ to my old tom cat.
They were talkin’ ’bout hockey.
The cat was talking back.
‘Round about then everything went black,
wasn’t that a party.”
My Siamese does this quite a bit. He loves to come and tell me just how TRAGIC everything it. It’s just a TRAVESTY mom, you just don’t underSTAND! I swear he’s a teenager; he’s gotten very whiny in the last few months.
We hold conversations too – Siamese are great at that.
Holy CRAP.. I am in love with Alaska.. but don’t tell MY Siamese kitteh that.. Bella talks all the time too..and I swear she says ‘no way’ when I ask her if she wants me to clip her toenails.. (ok.. claws.. whatever!)
I’ve had “meezers” before too and they’re just about the best (so intelligent it’s kind of scary!) and definitely fun to talk with. I will say though.. if I had built Alaska a little garden cave .. I would probably have given her some kind of soft blankie thing to lie on instead of just the floor of the re-purposed carrier. I know it would get rained on /muddy / etc. but something washable would probably be welcomed. My kitteh has to go to the vet weekly and at first she was in a hard carrier like this, then I got her a soft one with cushy bed inside and she’s delighted. The vet techs are too since now she is not in such a bad mood when she gets there.
Just like a typical teenager (or toddler, I suppose). Say nyerhe enough times and eventually mommy gets tired and gives in. This happens in my house sometimes, too!
Wasn’t this part of a longer video? Three cats walking around together in a garden? I swear I’ve seen this before, no?
And, I agree with the other posters that she is very lioness-like. Nala, indeed!
Lol… I can just hear what it would sound like if she were speaking english…
“But moooooooom, I don’t want to come inside yeeeet. Just a few more miiiiiinutes!”
The EARS. With every “nyerhe”, the ears de-escalate a notch. The longer and more vehement the “nyerhe”, the longer and lower the ear-angle drop-ratio. There’s an equation in here somewhere!
Wonderful! I grew up with a gorgeous seal point Siamese. He was such a beautiful kitten I brought him to school for show and tell – ha! They are quite talkative, but nothing compared to the DSH tortie I have now. She could talk any cat under the table! It’s fabulous, we have SO many conversations! And she totally changes her tone and volume and all that. And she has sweet meows and sassy meows and tired meows, really, quite the repertoire.
If you have a “no Siamese” rule in your house, you’d also better have a “no Torties” rule. Alaska sounds a lot like my oh-so-spotted Victoria.
Since she’s elderly, our conversations are usually about her arthritis, her diabetes, how she forgets things, where the heck dinner is and why can’t we get good help, how she’d LIKE to go outside but isn’t supposed to, the crazy kids these days…
Generally I lurv talkative cats, as long as they’re not yowling. Did anyone else have flashes of Austin Powers’ Dr. Evil talking to his evil son Scott this while watching this?
Alaska’s Mum: It’s time to come in.
Alaska: tschh!
Alaska’s Mum: ..but it’s been quite some time now..
Alaska: tschhh!
Alaska’s: Yes, it’s..
Alaska: TSCHHH!!
Alaska’s Mum: ..but..
Alaska: TSCHHH!! *yawn*
Alaska: *and a pre-emptive tscchh!*
btw i looked at her youtube acct while home at lunch and she has a dark meezer who is just as gorgeous and darling and who– wears costumes- there is one of him dressed up as a teddy bear, and one as the devil charcter from Legend
My first Smeeze, Spike, and I used to have conversations when we’d get home from work.
“Hi Spike.”
“MRAH.”
“How was your day at work?”
“MRRRRRAH.”
“Did you get the TPS Report done?”
“MARAH?”
“I thought I asked you to wash the dishes.”
“MRAH.”
Spike’s word was always some version of “MRAH.” Monster, my Balinese, would say “OHM.” He was really into yoga.
Just looked in the “A & E” of today’s (Portland) “Oregonian” and right on Plugged In page is an article about CO and ICHC and how they’re battling it out for Weird win in Webby awards!! I almost fell over when I saw the picture of the otter with baby, right there on the newspaper! YAYAAAYYYYYYYYY to CO ! and ICHC too but mostly CO !
Alaska, dahling, is it tea you’re wanting? A proper tea, Luv? I’ll bring the tray straightaway then. And your bonnet too? The blue one? Puhfect. You sit tight, wont be long.
Love this kitty! I have it as a “Favorite” in YouTube. You all really must see the video called “Blue-Eyed, Long-Tailed ,Crotch-Dwelling Froot Bat”. It’s about a Siamese kitty named Koda. Very original and cute.
I find I have more luck when I converse with my girls in their native tongue. Unfortunately, the hubby usually then murmurs something about being burned at the stake or something…
We are Siamese if you please
We are Siamese if you don’t please
We are from a residence of Siam
There is no finer cat than I am
Do you see that thing swimming round and round
Maybe we can reach on in and make it drown
If we sneaking up upon it carefully
There will be head for you and a tail for me
We are Siamese if you please
We are Siamese if you don’t please
Now we’re looking over our new domicile
If we like we stay for maybe quite a while
My late Siamese, Wilma, was just like Alaska in that she talked ALL the time and the only word she could say was “No” too. We used to try to frame our questions to her so that “no” was a positive answer. After 17 negative years, I do miss her, but I don’t miss the no-ise.
OK, Alaska has Siamesed me into my first comment. That is adorable! *squishes kitteh* Now I want a Siamese of my very own… My last cats used to talk to me – even on the phone sometimes – but not to that extent. Wow! I wants!
one of my sister’s Siamese can say “I want out” and “It’s not fair” and “Erin” (my sister’s name). The other siamese has adopted a beany baby cat that she carries around everywhere and includes in all her activities. This has been going on for years now.
I notice mummy made the fatal error of not mentioning what isinside…I’m sure if she mentioned lunchables the wee kitty woudl be running in all gleeful.
@Bazu: Yes, the no-eye-contact thing because kitteh is being whiney and recalcitrant! hee!
@compy-saur: Yes, a lioness! I noticed too.
@karla: Thanks for the vid!
@Tigger – the video karla gave us a link to proves you right. Alaska is saying over and over “what a tragedy” it is that his mom wants him to come in, and he’s whining.
@Szig: We have a “no Siamese again” rule in our house too. I adpoted one that later stayed at my mom’s after I was married, then he came to live with me and hub. Kitteh was soooo noisy and a PITA though I loved him. Seventeen years of that noisy acrobatic stoopid monkey. He talked all the time, even while we were trying to sleep. Not again! Like Homer Simpson, his fave food was glazed doughnuts.
@rere: Exactly! Lunchables are the only way I can get my escaped kitteh inside. He will just about snap his head off turning it to look at me if I say the word “ham”. Of course we only buy the nitrate-free stuff! But now we have to spell certain words in front of him. Redonkulous.
This cat’s actually quieter than most of the Siamese cats I’ve seen. Years ago, I rescued a half-Siamese cat. She has the *MEOW* and the personality of a Siamese, but is dark brown all over. I leave her cat carrier out all the time, so she doesn’t freak out when I take it out, and I occasionally see her sitting in the carrier. Further pictures and commentary about her are available on my blog, category “Fuzzball”.
ooooh, i lurve siamese, especially ones named after places. (my future siamese will named “miami.”) i currently have a turkish van who sound alot like this and looooves to talk! (“nyerhe” is her fave word too…)
My Flanny is a blue point Sphynx–just enough Siamese to make her incorrigible. She must always have the last word.
I lurve Alaska, though–her meow is so much less abrasively Long Island than Flanny’s.
Aww. What a lovely kitty-cave, and the human is so sweet and patient with Alaska. Reminds me a lot of some exchanges between my mom and my little brother:
“Come on, honey, time for bed.”
“Five more minutes! Five more minutes! Pleeeeeeeease?”
“You already had five more minutes.”
“But Pokemon is on! Wait ’til the commercial!”
“*sigh* Fine…”
THERESA-Thanks for the song! Needed that.
Is “Alice in Wonderland” available on DVD? Take a look at the opening scene-Any resemblance to Alaska and the sweet lady who wants her to leave her garden hideaway?
This video made me cry and cry for my beloved siamese Sammy, who died just over a year ago at age 16. She HAD to reply whenever I asked her a question, and also loved to sit on my shoulder and meow into the phone. She liked to hide from me, but couldn’t resist answering my call for very long, so all I had to do was wander the house calling her name, and she would eventually say “meow” and then have the most annoyed, “Drat! Foiled again!” look when I’d take her out of the linen closet or off my camera. I have 2 cats now that I adopted from a shelter and they’re nice girls, but extremely quiet. I miss the conversations.
I love how cats all have different voices. I have four, and I can always tell who’s talking. Mr. Kitty is the loud, obnoxious, dammit-woman-pay-me-some-attention one; Cabbie only speaks when it’s the eeeennnnhhhhhh!!! somebody’s hurting me!! rendition of cat speak; Tallulah Belle has the most beautiful, little-bitty voice ever, and she occasionally manages to say “Mama”; and then there’s McFluffy…he whispers because that’s all he can get out.
That said, Alaska’s all “Haven’t we been over this a thousand times, mother? Not when I’m in my secret hideout!”
I’m thinking there is a solid, slashing reason why mummy doesn’t simply reach into the grotto and pick up Alaska-kitty. I mean, a reason other than showing off the cute for us all.
Cheryl | May 02, 2008 at 07:24 AM
I think you would be right!
What a patient owner, I’d have said come here you little bugger and grabbed it, long ago.
Hon Glad | May 02, 2008 at 07:51 AM
See the above post from Cheryl. You would lose your hand before getting Alaska (or any meezer for that matter) out of her hidy place.
hee hee hee! Alaska’s “nyerhes” woke Yitzy who was several rooms away. He then sat on my lap intently watching and listening TWICE, before curling up for some serious snorgling.
Thanks Meg!
Wow… just wow. What a gorgeous cat. Such a beautiful face. I love her sass too. I had no idea that Siamese were so chatty. I love it.
@Elizabeth… I’m cracking up that you said that, because about halfway through Rainman popped into my head too! I couldn’t quite identify why, but I’m glad I’m not the only one.
I searched to, just so see if I was crazy, and it’s not there. I am guessing that it was a link in comments somewhere! It would explain why I know I’ve seen it before on CO, but that it wasn’t officially posted.
Nonononoooooooo! I have been trying desperately since this morning to play this video, but it won´t work! Says “this video is no longer available”… *cries*
It’s kinda funny/sad. I love this video but my roommate says the cat is miserable and abused. So I showed it to some people on some forums and 6 out of 8 replies agreed that this cat is miserable and not happy. Which I just have trouble believing. Everyone is saying it’s so cute and stuff so how could it be miserable?
I think it’s just talkative.
Alaska doesn’t sound miserable or abused, just a bit, er, like a woman of a certain age who doesn’t feel like moving. Which I can certainly relate to, the Goddess knows. Our own Patton is half-Siamese, and has big blue eyes and legs that remind me of burnt matchsticks. He often engages in long convos with us too
Reutte — please reassure your roommate and “some people on some forums” that this is actually one pampered and contented kitty, nearly to the point of being worshipped like an ancient Egyptian goddess.
(door’s open, for starters, and nobody’s forcing her in or out of it)
By the way, it’s become a really nice spring day here, and I’ve opened the windows… Rikki, our 1-yr-old half-Siamese, is NOT the one going crazy bongo crackercat upstairs though — it’s our 12-yr-old lady Spot. Gallop-a-gallop-a-gallop-a-SPROING! (repeat)
ahem posting this to no possible good end, and cause this is probably a dead thread now – but ..
Tabitha, of the “it’s an outside day” fame, is alive and well and spayed and happy living inside with her mommy and daddy and the other kitty in the video – if anyone would want to go to the tube and check out. I actually did go and check…. the poster of that picture actually has quite a post there about how upset she was that people from *here* were coming to the youtube site and sending her really horrible emails about her treatment of the kitten.
I’ve had Siamese all my life and my current cat, FitzWilliam Darcy, is the loudest, most talkative, cheekiest, silliest, and most beautiful, lovable Siamese I’ve ever had. (He looks just like the Blue-Eyed, Long-Tailed, Crotch-Dwelling Froot Bat!) We have many conversations but, just like crackjob said, he never does the dishes.
@LoveofIsis, Darcy does sound like a goat!
And he was answering Alaska, encouraging her to stand her ground.
A friend of mine told me that her cats pulled their hair out after trying Hartz. Apparently it really bothered their skin. Why is this site supporting them? Are you stuck in a contract or something? I can’t believe you would knowingly post an ad for a product that hurts animals.
I have been looking at cuteoverload since one of my friends forwarded that bunny stealing the cookie picture. I am wondering if I should tell them to boycott the site. I mean if you’re stuck in a contract then there is nothing you can do, but if you aren’t I would think you’d stop supporting them. I also saw a lot of information on the sadoverloadblog.
If arguing with mom about having to go back inside on a beautiful, sunny day is evidence of “abuse”, lo’ help us all.
I can so relate to that cat, though. I remember that feeling on Sunday evening when Mom would call us back inside as the sun went down. It meant the weekend was over and back to school tomorrow. May as well have been the end of the world. Nyerrrrrhe.
OMG! My Siamese is named Alaska TOO! He is a he, much whinier than the lovely young lady shown here and looks more like Barbra Streisand than a lion…but we love him anyway. The “Alaska” in this video is just delectable. Loverly!
I think this is so cute, I’d say that woman is South African though not English or any other British accent, I am English myself and lived in South Africa 10 years, I am sure shes a Saffa. Alaska has the cutest Saffa Smeezerr accent I ever heard!
Awwwwww, the “nyerhes” killed me! What a pretty kitty. I can’t get over that elongated snout, though – is she part Sphynx, or are all pedigree Siamese like that?
And yes, Brit accents are teh RAWR (and teh LOL, too, when necessary!)
I’m sick for this. Wanna siamese, were it that we could *rescue* one. Anyone notice how Alaska’s ears go down every time she meooOOOOOws? Lovelovelove. post more, pls.
Hey, Andi!! You’re not the only one who thought Alaska’s meowing sounded “British”…I scrolled through the comments of this very clip on the youtube page just to make sure but this is what I wrote aboot 2 months ago (as juniper30, my handle’s a tad too long thar)
“BWAHAHAHAHAHAAH!!!XD!!
That is a lovely kitty!!
I love how she talks to you like she doesn’t want to come in…and this may sound strange, but this is the first time I’ve heard a cat actually sound British!! All proper and prim in her coo-meowing…! Very adorable!! ” Got one racist sounding comment and one more positive sounding one after that. But basically, yeah, yer ears don’t deceive you, mah dear!
@otterwhiskers
I knew it was a British accent you had but then I’m British too.
I have some questions about Alaska. She seems to be talking to you. How much do you think she understands? Is there any other language she understands? And does she ever come in just by being asked? I’ve never seen a cat do that, unless its Din dins time of course
Hi Scoobie (I used to have a pet tortoise called Scoobie!)
Alaska is a very chatty cat, even when she was a kitten. She is a typical girl and just LOVES to talk – even to the point that she will walk around the house mumbling to herself like a crazy old woman! She does understand a few keywords and phrases but I think what she is really in tune with is the tone of voice we use – and you usually find that she matches her responses directly to how you sound to her.
but if they try and negotiate more time outside you can guarantee that it will be Alaska leading the rebellion! Alaska is actually quite a force to be reckoned with and a few weeks ago she scared the life out of me when I found her chasing a fox out of the garden – it was twice the size of her and yet couldn’t get away fast enough!
By the way, although I told her she could have ten more minutes it turned into about two more hours until I finally had to carry her in over my shoulder like a sack of potatoes!
The only time I have a conversation with my cat is when it’s about food. If it’s not served properly or is not exactly what he wants we’ll have quite the argument over it. It sometimes results in him trying to ask for the manager.
Otterwhiskers, your cats are beautiful and hilarious! I makes me want a siamese. I love how fidgety she gets as soon as you come out there, she knows she’s in for a fight!
Also, I swear, after being asked if she was going to catch a bird, I can hear her say, “I AM!”.
Hee hee! No, it wasn’t an Elephant,(you are not the first person to ask that!). That sound was of a Dove taking off in the garden, which was what caught Alaska’s attention.
Stay sassy, little one! Happy Friday,CO peeps.
I so wish I could here this! The Siamese meow is so cute and funny!
My parrot picked it up and now HE meows like a Siamese too!
Oh yea, and BLEEN?
Okay, not quite bleen, but still with the qte!
Hehehe! “nuuuu! don’t make me go inside!”
Love the happy garden cave!!
Oh my god! So insistent! So stubborn! So like me and my brother when we were in the pool and didn’t want to come in. I love how Alaska won’t even make eye contact. Sweet little cheeky monkey. She needs some good corporeal snuggling because of this, methinks…
Ok, maybe it’s just early and pre-coffee but I could swear Alaska is mewing with a British accent!
Gorgeous cat, sweet owner, enviable “cat cave.”
I knew this would end up on CO as soon as I saw it on stuffonmycat.com. Alaska is a cheeky monkey. I swear she’s saying “no” when mommy said “please?, Please?”
That is hilarious! And adorable. Alaska is not afraid to say what she wants!
“are you being a bit Cheeky?”
“nyeeeeah”
I’m not even a cat person and this is adorable – love the flower adorned outdoor grotto
Alice the Brit, in sunny Florida now
The lady doth protest too much!
Lovely, beautiful feline. When she turns her head, her profile is almost that of a young lioness!
I have this conversation with my cat every day practically.
That made my day! Both of them are charming-that kitty is so funny! And I love her den!
I’m thinking there is a solid, slashing reason why mummy doesn’t simply reach into the grotto and pick up Alaska-kitty. I mean, a reason other than showing off the cute for us all.
Hey Cricket- I want to hear the parrot that sounds like a Siamese!
Talky kitties are wonderful bits of awesomeness. I think Alaska would probably also be a world-class cat yodeller!
“no you’re not”
“mew-yes i am-mew…”
I swear, this is what I heard…
I was making my grocery list when I hit play. Here is my list:
apples
pears
skim milk
pasta
cheeky siamese cat
camouflaged cat carrier
spicy sausages
ice cream
I can’t wait to pick up my groceries!
Oh i love this! i saw it on stuffonmycat and just lol. Is it just me or does anyone else think that British accents are some one of the prettiest (and sexiest) in the world? I love how this kitty is all like “its a nice day can’t i stay out longer mommy”" hehe

Well, I’ve been wondering how to pronounce “nyerhe.” Now I know.
What a patient owner, I’d have said come here you little bugger and grabbed it, long ago.
Okay. Meg – Everything you put on here is awesome. We all no this. But THIS… has to be the greatest thing I’ve ever seen. (I say that a lot.)
He almost sounds like a goat!
Just awesome.
I need that lady to come over with her lovely accent and tell my meezers that they are being cheeky.
Wow. I fail at the English language. *KNOW. We all KNOW. Not no.
Alaska is a fantastic name for a cat!
GOD I miss my Smeezers. Best cats ever, man.
the best part (at least for me) is the meoyawn at :44. She’s saying I need to go sweepies in the breeze.
My God now I unnerstand, I gave birth to two Siamese Cats! “All right, 10 more minutes” Nyerhe……
“One more jump Roo dear, and we really must be going”
Kanga:Roo at any given playtime as he jumps for the 437th time and wants more.
Somehow, this cat reminds me of Rainman….
I love this video…have watched in way too many times.
But–not even a complaint, just wondering if memory serves–
wasn’t this already on under something like “the definition of Nyerhe”?
b/c I know I watched it a 1,000 times before today, and where else could it have been from…????
ok, now going to watch it one more time
FYI all the videos of this cat on youtube rule
ok, I would be creeped out if people across the ocean were fans of my pet.
awww.. thats so cute.. I love how he never really opens his eyes all the way lol…

omg i can’t stop giggling!
he’s stated his position. he’s not coming in and that is THAT!!
i love how his ears go down every time he says something. every time!!!
Awwwwww sooo sweet. :3
So I’ve been wondering what NYERHE means. You guys say it all the time! What does it mean, how do you pronounce it, and where does it come from?
Meia, imagine that you’re a two-year-old and your momma is trying to make you do something you don’t want to do and you’re resisting with all your two-year-old might and Momma picks you up to carry you and you hold on with all your two-year-old strength. The sound is the little grunting noise of denial and rage you make when Momma finally wrenches your two-year-old fingers off the arms of the sofa. NnnnnooooyyyyeerrHE!

OMG! that cat ate a LAMB and now it’s crying from inside her belly!
right on kitteh, stay in your camouflage hangout place.
(for crying out loud Siamese kittehs are so beautiful!! the nose! it keels me)
Oh, Alaska! You got 10 more minutes! Way to go, girl!
Ugh, this is why I have a no siamese rule in my home. So freaking loud! Might as well get a yappy chihuahua.
God I love talking kitties.
I’ve had my fix for the day.
“It’s an inside day, Alaska.”
Here is a replay of this exchange, in a different area of the garden:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KHYzYWwo4g
Miss Alaska sez Nyerhe! Someone is not getting her very broad hints!
haha check out that link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-F3aA5GiqaE
(that royal face hihi)
Does that mean you speak Thai?
Also, I like how she said “10 more minutes” like it was more of a question than a statement.
This kitteh reminds me of Napolean Dynamite with the closed eyes and head turned all the way to the side.
I have never seen a cat like that before – she really looks like a lioness. I think they have had this conversation before. So cute.
Sasha’s Mum, why was Alaksa talking about me? lol Coulda been the whiskey, or it might have been the gin. lol
And meacu1pa, I think perhaps I’ll try to get the “meow” on vid and submish! Maybe it’ll get posted! If not, maybe I’ll just link it here.
LOL Jen Barnett!
I was wondering if I was going to have to be the first to bring that up.
I think the bestest part of all is that ALASKA WON! She argued successfully on her own behalf. Clever girl.
She looks so much like a tiny lioness!
When you start begging a cat for something, you’re on the losing side. It’s a law of physics or something.

A “ME-YAWN”! MY FAVORITE!
Is there a PBS dry witty parlor comedy in the making?!?!
——————————-
The vet techs are too since now she is not in such a bad mood when she gets there.
yoicks.. look at me.. “chatty Cathy”.. sorry …
Nala, indeed!
i love that cat
Noooo Jen Barnett!
That video made me so sad. The little ‘it’s an outside day’ and the sad cry…
Alaska! What a sweet cat! I really want a Siamese afetr seeing this.
There’s an equation in here somewhere!
krankee kitteh iz krankee
Plus – I hear one “yeah” in the midst of all of the “nyerhes”.
“Are you being cheeky?”
“Nyerhe.”
“Are you being a *little bit* cheeky?”
“Yeah.”
LOL! And I thought MY cat was bratty.
I love siamese. They will always talk to you no matter what.
*yawn*
Alaska: *and a pre-emptive tscchh!*
having a significantly crappy day. this video cheered me up instantly. wish i could have 10 more minutes in my little cat cave of solitude.
I always thought of Siamese as monkey cats. Acrobatic, loud, ingratiating. Think they’re human.
And yes, British accents are mega-sexy.
Alaska is making it clear this is an OUTSIDE day, dammit, and she is NOT to be trifled with.
And I think the yawn is saying, “Lady, you are boring me to TEARS. Now ago away!”
too dang funny-!!
btw i looked at her youtube acct while home at lunch and she has a dark meezer who is just as gorgeous and darling and who– wears costumes- there is one of him dressed up as a teddy bear, and one as the devil charcter from Legend
Oh my god that is so cute. I love siamese cats soo much!
Now, next time you want to post another stupid Winston post, just remember to substitue Alaska and everything will be fine.
Guido, next time you want to post another stupid comment on the internet, consider going & getting good and drunk first. Everything will be fine.
What a cheeky little kitty!
Love the outside area!
Winston posts are NOT stupid
thanks Theo for your defend-o-Winston post
what a wonderful converstion they have, I wonder just how many a day alaska haw with her mum. Being a an Alaskan native I truly approve of her name.
has not hav
and winston posts are not stupid they are hillarous
By the way, Rikki thinks Alaska is teh hawt.
LOL @ Teho!
and a nyerhe! @ Guido, too.
i could swear i know Alaska’s mummy’s voice from somewhere. Jen is it you? (westfield road??)
Great, now I want to head to Michaels or Hobby Lobby for silk flower vines, put my cats’ carriers in the living room, and drape them over.
Love the me-yawn!!!!
What’s with all the branches and stuff covering the cat carrier? And second, when has a cat ever NOT wanted to get out of those? My cats hate them.
lol such a vocal kitty! this kitty would make me feel like I’m not talking to myself when I talk to myself.
I love it when the mom says ‘please, please?’ Alaska is like ‘..mehhh” so cute
Love moms accent too !
Cheeky Kitty just wants to stay out in the sun a little longer, so she can become Baked Alaska.
[You know, I was thinking about attempting a catnip joke along these lines, at 4:20 PM Pacific, but this will do... - Ed.]
“video no longer available”
Waaaaaaaa
I tried again and it’s working now!
LOVED IT!
(I know, not related to Alaska but had to say it somewhere!)
Alaska, dahling, is it tea you’re wanting? A proper tea, Luv? I’ll bring the tray straightaway then. And your bonnet too? The blue one? Puhfect. You sit tight, wont be long.
I LOVE Winston.. but this kitty is cool too.. I love the back talk heheh… but no one compares to Winston.. I will find him and steals him.. hehe
Yep – just like at my house. I love kitteh’s meowies! Meezerz! Mmmmmow!
@ JNO: When? At precisely the moment you want them to get out.
@ whoever asked: Yes, this was posted here before, but I enjoy an occasional repeat, partic when they are this cheeky moggie.
did I post something on this? i’m sure I did…. confused
OMG LOVE THIS KITTY…….ackkkkkkkkk thump (passes out)…
Okay, I FINALLY got to watch this video. Hooray!
Ahahaha – I love talky little Siamese kittehs, and Alaska is heelarious!
His mummy sure has patience.
P.S. Gee, what’s so bad about Winston? I lurve him.
Love this kitty! I have it as a “Favorite” in YouTube. You all really must see the video called “Blue-Eyed, Long-Tailed ,Crotch-Dwelling Froot Bat”. It’s about a Siamese kitty named Koda. Very original and cute.
I find I have more luck when I converse with my girls in their native tongue. Unfortunately, the hubby usually then murmurs something about being burned at the stake or something…
We are Siamese if you please
We are Siamese if you don’t please
We are from a residence of Siam
There is no finer cat than I am
Do you see that thing swimming round and round
Maybe we can reach on in and make it drown
If we sneaking up upon it carefully
There will be head for you and a tail for me
We are Siamese if you please
We are Siamese if you don’t please
Now we’re looking over our new domicile
If we like we stay for maybe quite a while
Mary the 1st —
Chatty Cathy! Chatty Cathy!
I had one when I was about 6. One day, I pulled the string all the way out and cut it off.
My mom asked why, and I said “She talked too much.”
Wow! I wants!
Why get drunk when Winston videos have their own ability to make one unconcious?
He’s an annoying cat owned by an even more annoying gay man, neither of which having the smallest portion of personality that Alaska has.
one of my sister’s Siamese can say “I want out” and “It’s not fair” and “Erin” (my sister’s name). The other siamese has adopted a beany baby cat that she carries around everywhere and includes in all her activities. This has been going on for years now.
I notice mummy made the fatal error of not mentioning what isinside…I’m sure if she mentioned lunchables the wee kitty woudl be running in all gleeful.
oh that is too darn cute.
>.< "nyerhe!"
Ohhhh! I love that cat so much I wish I punch it in the face. Then maybe pull its tail, or hit it with a hammer!
OMG!!!! I love that cat so much. Wish I could just punch his little nose. Then step on his tail and stick toothpicks in his ears.
proof that whining and being stubborn is indeed a path to success.
What? Adam? what ???
Aww Alaska. Ten more minutes, indeed.
lol@me: Your sister’s cats sound awesome.
Very leonine features on that one, don’t you think?
And you can really hear it. “Nyerhe! Nyerhe! A thousand times NYERHE!!”
Great video, meg!
@Adam: Time to seek professional help.
@Bazu: Yes, the no-eye-contact thing because kitteh is being whiney and recalcitrant! hee!
@compy-saur: Yes, a lioness! I noticed too.
@karla: Thanks for the vid!
I Siamese cats, my cat Socks is Siamese and I love the way they meow. P.S. I live the cat cave.
I Siamese cats, my cat Socks is Siamese and I love the way they meow. P.S. I love the cat cave.
with a naggy owner like this one -as nice as she seems- I think I would rather stay outside, alone, in my box too!
Not sure what I like best, Alaska’s protests or Alaska’s mom’s voice
What I want to know is WHY is it time to come in? I am with Alaska – a totally unreasonable request – must be denied!
I loved it! She talks to her cat just like I talk to mine!
this is my second post, but this is probably the 4th time i watched it. I’m officially in love with this cat! is that wrong? Nyerhe!
Siamese cats have beautiful voices. What a pretty girl.
I could swear she sounds like an itty bitty Chewbaca!
hee hee hee!
This has been on here before.
The end.
Nyrhe, seriously.
[You're welcome to help me search, but *I* haven't found any duplicate post of this in the Cute Overload history... - Ed.]
or!! Or, or… someone linked to it in comments?? Srsly, I have tewtally seen it here before.
I think.
Hmmm. Oh dear.
What a cool kitty-mama. I mean hello-ooo she make her kitties FORTS people! FORTS!
“Alaska, come on.”
“Shan’t!”
How sweet.
I wonder, are British siamese extra polite & subdued?
Alaska’s barely warmed up in terms of Siamese NYERHE. Or maybe it’s the lilac’s. My mother’s lilac was very pointed but very dainty like this.
We used to have the neighbors call and ask if we had a baby and what was wrong with it when my dear seal-point Sabrina got warmed up.
I think someone actually called the cops at one point because they thought that we were hurting the baby. (We didn’t have one.)
Ha, there’s more on youtube, here’s another similar situation in which Alaska refuses to come in…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KHYzYWwo4g&NR=1
Oh no! What happened to Alaska? I came for a morning dose of cuteness and the video is gone…
[YouTube was having issues for a little while; seems OK now... - Ed.]
Meg, could you call her up and ask her to turn the camera around so we can all see the hot-tay on the other end of that darling accent?
Cuz sometimes caturday is for us stray cats too, yerknow…
i just can’t imagine where else I saw it!
the thing about this video is….i’m gonna go watch it AGAIN
it’s so cute!
I love Siamese cats.. the way they communicate, the way they tell you to get bent, lol.. They are a great species.
Thanks!
I searched to, just so see if I was crazy, and it’s not there. I am guessing that it was a link in comments somewhere! It would explain why I know I’ve seen it before on CO, but that it wasn’t officially posted.
I believe that is my final hypothesis.
And do *I* want to come inside?? Nyerhe!
*to = too.
Oops…. I *am* crazy. Darnit.
He often engages in long convos with us too
I want a gigantic den like that, only hooman-sized.
PS. I saw the vid at 12:20PM.
Reutte — please reassure your roommate and “some people on some forums” that this is actually one pampered and contented kitty, nearly to the point of being worshipped like an ancient Egyptian goddess.
(door’s open, for starters, and nobody’s forcing her in or out of it)
it’s not miserable, for heaven’s sake! She’s just being Siamese.
I have to keep coming back to watch that clip, I just love it.
(repeat)
LOL Theo! crackercat.
ahem posting this to no possible good end, and cause this is probably a dead thread now – but ..
Tabitha, of the “it’s an outside day” fame, is alive and well and spayed and happy living inside with her mommy and daddy and the other kitty in the video – if anyone would want to go to the tube and check out.
I actually did go and check…. the poster of that picture actually has quite a post there about how upset she was that people from *here* were coming to the youtube site and sending her really horrible emails about her treatment of the kitten.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGVelhEKMVA&feature=user
but omg! kitteh got kicked in teh face!!
adorables
I LURVE the nyerhe-turned-yawn!! My cats are very quiet, so I love hearing kitties talk – even on the internets!
LOVE this!
This video is so great. I used to have a Siamese/Marmalade cross, and he was very yappy as well.
What is up with everyone thinking people abuse their animals? Uhm, it’s great you care, people, but…
She is so cute and a brat!!
Nyerrrrrhe.
I love Alaska she is such a funny girl!
This is my favourite video of her….
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAXkpFlh3i8#
ha, there’s an even better video of alaska, the cheeky monkey
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cG4mhaMuub8
oh claire, sorry, in my last post i wasn’t referring to the video you linked to but the original. i posted before getting to the end. whoops.
that was so cute!!! i love how mummy is giving alaska 10 more minutes. hopefully alaska de-cheeks within that time frame!
Alaska is so cute, talkative, and funny! She’s definitely one of my new favorite cats!
I think Alaska looks like Captain Picard from Star Trek…
LOL That is so cute.. My tummy hurts from laughing so hard and what a lovely voice Alaska’s mom has!
Love her! She bleats like a little lamb.
Dis kitteh is tremendously charming and sooo pretty…like a lion!
I love that kitteh has such a kind hooman.
Made me happy.
Awwwwww, the “nyerhes” killed me! What a pretty kitty. I can’t get over that elongated snout, though – is she part Sphynx, or are all pedigree Siamese like that?
And yes, Brit accents are teh RAWR (and teh LOL, too, when necessary!)
I love her ears!
KaKi — Alaska’s humans are in the UK, according to their YouTube profile:
http://www.youtube.com/user/otterwhiskers
(I don’t mean to discourage your ear, though.)
I think the cat is saying, “Stop repeating yourself ad nauseam, you annoying old tart.”
Isn’t that an Abyssinnian?
In my experience, you don’t have that level of insolence unless you know that you’re at the top of the food chain.
Miserable and mistreated my foot. Alaska got her way and she didn’t even have to pitch a hissy. Not even a mini-hissy.
Aaah Theo they might be in the UK but so is half the white Saffa population, the woman is definitely Saffa origin, thats not an English accent!
[Gonna hafta take your word on this, so OK... - Ed.]
” Got one racist sounding comment and one more positive sounding one after that. But basically, yeah, yer ears don’t deceive you, mah dear!
I love how she talks to you like she doesn’t want to come in…and this may sound strange, but this is the first time I’ve heard a cat actually sound British!! All proper and prim in her coo-meowing…! Very adorable!!
@otterwhiskers
Alaska and Baggy usually come in when asked –
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1BcRz7_NBw
but if they try and negotiate more time outside you can guarantee that it will be Alaska leading the rebellion!
Life with a Siamese is never boring!
Hear hear!
@otterwhiskers
Thanks for the reply. I noticed she seems to be matching the tone of your voice.
Was that… an elephant? Around when she asked if alaska was going to catch a bug? o_O
Hee hee! No, it wasn’t an Elephant,(you are not the first person to ask that!). That sound was of a Dove taking off in the garden, which was what caught Alaska’s attention.
