Unbelievable amounts of redonkulousness

by Meg on April 25, 2008

Remember when we had that vid last year of the horse dancing? Well, it’s Canine Freestyle time, People. Not so much ‘Cute’ but ‘OVERLOAD’. Get out the popcorn.

Of course ‘Achy Breaky heart’ was the next canine freestyle song selected [shifty eyes in disbelief]

WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE, Heather R.?!!?!

Haha, my Mom knows that lady. She is pretty famous in the dog show/breed scene.

2 Metz 04.25.08 at 8:16 pm

Aw Man! DKN has been trying and trying to get this on here for evah!

3 geneticlemon 04.25.08 at 8:17 pm

SO RIDICULOUS. Reminds me of this episode of Britain’s Got Talent:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=3Bt4kguLPTU

Prepare for absolute ridonkculousness.

4 Kits 04.25.08 at 8:20 pm

I did not. Just. See that.

5 lurkingsmirk 04.25.08 at 8:21 pm

I think the best part was how happy the dog seemed the whole time.

6 Marysusan Noll 04.25.08 at 8:31 pm

That first dog seemed soooooooo happy to be out there showing what it could do! That tail was wagging non-stop!

7 jana 04.25.08 at 8:34 pm

if this is wrong, i don’t wanna be right.

8 slurpeeking 04.25.08 at 8:36 pm

I remember an episode of King of the Hill about …uh, whatever this is called…dog dancing?

Is there a CO category Cute or Freakish? If there is, I am leaning towards freakish.

10 Emmy 04.25.08 at 8:37 pm

I love how happy the dog in the first video looks!

11 katydid972 04.25.08 at 8:38 pm

There was absolutely an episode of King of the Hill about this. I think it belongs in the cute category because the dog looks so excited and happy.

12 berthaservant 04.25.08 at 8:41 pm

Please, people, this is clearly cute or sad.

I mean, look at the form! You call that a kick-ball-change? And there’s no extension. I want a strut-strut-strut not a clomp-clomp-clomp. Once again, from the top, you bitches, and this time, I want JAZZ PAWS.

A-five, six, seven, eight…

13 Kathy 04.25.08 at 8:59 pm

Wow. The One That I Want dog was so clearly in 7th heaven I was nearly in tears. That’s all they want, to spend time with their humans, and BOY, that had to be a lot of time spent together!

14 DKN 04.25.08 at 9:02 pm

THANK YOU METZ!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU!

*wipes tears*

15 debg 04.25.08 at 9:06 pm

Okay, my dirty mind kicked in, and I couldn’t help thinking “needs a HUMAN” more than a man. Then the dog’s transparent joy nuked the bestiality refs going through my brain. Yep, I’m sick.

16 kayte 04.25.08 at 9:08 pm

Redonkulous doesn’t BEGIN to cover this. Okay, so it’s bizarre enough that people dress up in costumes (wasn’t that Achy Breaky Heart costume on the guy with the Shih Tzu in Best of Show?)then train their dogs to dance with them. But who the heck goes to watch this?!

17 debg 04.25.08 at 9:09 pm

This is almost as much fun as watching dogs on obstacle courses. Maybe I could get my ballerina kitty ready for competition. She loves to dance en pointe.

18 Katerz 04.25.08 at 9:15 pm

Berthaservant, you are freakin’ hysterical!!!

19 newlee 04.25.08 at 9:19 pm

big deal. jack (my silky-mix) and i could beat those pooches in the synchronized napping division, easy.

20 Shaz 04.25.08 at 9:37 pm

I would definitely say cute, just because of how much these dogs are enjoying themselves!! Especially the golden retriever…he could hardly contain himself!!

I would definitely do this with my dog…if I had a dog. I don’t think I would compete, though!

21 Juno 04.25.08 at 9:38 pm

This is why I like cats.

22 hey-h 04.25.08 at 9:50 pm

Oh my god. I can’t believe how happy that golden retriever looks. Wow. This made…well, if not my week, at least my Friday afternoon. I think I should go home now.

23 Anasztaizia 04.25.08 at 9:52 pm

Oh my gooooood!!!

That episode of King of the Hill was the first thing I thought of as well, katydid. I couldn’t believe what I was actually seeing!!

I can’t imagine how long that must have taken to train – oi vey! Those are some HAPPY pups, though – just look at all the energy and tail wagging!!!!

Def. cute =D

24 SixFootJen 04.25.08 at 9:53 pm

HAPPY DOG! HAPPY DOG! OH SO HAPPY! YES! I’M DANCING! YES! LOOK AT WHAT I CAN DO! HAPPY! YES! DANCING! YES HAPPY DANCING HAPPY YES YES YES!

25 Cate 04.25.08 at 9:57 pm

I second Meg’s comment, WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?! More importantly, WHERE ARE THESE EVENTS HELD SO I CAN ATTEND?!

26 In Awwwe 04.25.08 at 10:03 pm

Oh Megs … You were definitely wrong on this one… That video was cute AND hilarious …. And just about every other word from the CO Glossary …

::still laughing::

27 JinxtheCat 04.25.08 at 10:04 pm

I love dogs but don’t own any at this point. These videos made my day! What happy dogs and so well trained. I just poked my cats to see if they wanted to dance around for a while. Nope. Sigh.

28 Ponygirl 04.25.08 at 10:07 pm

I must be hormonal, because the joy on that yellow dog’s face made me start crying… in the middle of the CAFE!

29 Sleeping Mommy 04.25.08 at 10:13 pm

In tears over here. Both tears of joy because of the joy emanating off that golden and in tears cuz it makes me miss our golden. Ahhh. :*(

30 Gail 04.25.08 at 10:20 pm

Okay, this has been said before but THIS really should be posted in the Glossary as the definition of “Redonkulous”!!!!!!!!

Isn’t this kinda cruel? Clearly the dogs would not naturally choose to do this!! I’m sure the “happiness” is trained into the routine as well!

Nuff, nuff, wink!!!!! ;-)

31 taj 04.25.08 at 10:29 pm

To each is own! At least the doggies look happy =)

32 Taylor 04.25.08 at 10:32 pm

I can now die as a complete person.

33 Zanna 04.25.08 at 10:35 pm

Ponygirl it’s not just you, I cried too. Sometimes it’s like you see something SO happy it just makes you wistful. I think I was that happy once around age 7…

I couldn’t watch the second video though. I really can’t stand to hear Achy Breaky Heart ever again, ever, for even a second, not even for redonkulous cuteness. (does that count as a ’nuff?)

34 crazy weinerdog lady 04.25.08 at 10:40 pm

Ok that golden retriever! I WANT THAT DOG! He was soo happy! No, I wouldn’t dance with my dogs but you have to admit that takes talent to teach a dog that.

35 JudyRB 04.25.08 at 10:42 pm

This really is cute – those are some very well trained dogs – mine will never be so good except in my dreams. I would love to go and see a competition but don’t know where they have them around St. Louis

36 crazy weinerdog lady 04.25.08 at 10:42 pm

oh and yeah, the retriever made me tear up too…. weird huh? Are all we women PMSing?

37 DKN 04.25.08 at 11:01 pm

Hey guys,

If you want to see more of these two, in the similar video I submitted over a year ago(ahem)the second half of the video is a separate routine – done to some hilarious techno song and Rookie does these perfect kicks that are just amazing.

Here’s the link:
http://dkn.vox.com/library/video/6a00cd971dad4d4cd500d41425bedc685e.html

38 scoobie 04.25.08 at 11:15 pm

Dancing with dogs like this is a competition at the world’s biggest dog show Crufts in the UK. In fact its shown live on primetime BBC tv. Its quite popular over here.

39 pyrit 04.25.08 at 11:21 pm

DKN – Have pity on us! We’re already slain. Powerless I tell you! But pleased. Very pleased. (wipes warm and squishy tear. grins incoherently.)

40 Jane 04.25.08 at 11:31 pm

Beautiful golden retriever! I would love to see this done to “Hound Dog” or “Puppy Love” or maybe “Who Let the Dogs Out?”

41 Guido 04.25.08 at 11:32 pm

Hate to say it, but man is this old.

Yes, King of the Hill did an episode all about it.

Also, one of the characters on Skins has a father that does it.

And personally I remember seeing this video before the KoTH episode, which was season 7, 2002-2003, Dances With Dogs.

That’s purty old, pardner.

42 Michelle 04.25.08 at 11:34 pm

scoobie: the UK is truly a dog culture. I’ve never competed in dancing, but I have in agility, obedience, and herding trials. They seem to be a bit bigger out west than elsewhere. I’ll tell ya, count me as one that would drive a fair stretch to see both these pairs compete in freestyle. I love this stuff.

As for the “needs a man” comment: show me a straight man that enjoys dancing this much and I’ll concur. Until that day, I’d *much* rather dance with dogs. ;D

43 Miriam 04.25.08 at 11:35 pm

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRrx7CsTO9U

44 Melisma 04.25.08 at 11:57 pm

I’d seen the first video before, but still cute. The dogs certainly seem happy. Jane and berthaservant, you both made me giggle.
Miriam, great video!

45 RidBaxter 04.26.08 at 12:49 am

The part where the golden puts his paw on his dance partner’s hip just kills me every time I see it.

Working breeds like that retriever and the aussie thrive by working with people. I have a lab (the “Rid” in my username honors him) who is happiest doing field trials–he plasters that same insane giant doggie grin on his face the entire time.

46 Theresa 04.26.08 at 12:52 am

Mirian– that was the cherry on top!! Fabulous.

47 Alison 04.26.08 at 1:17 am

Seen the first one heaps of times (there’s a reason I have it favourited on YT) but I never get sick of it. Rookie looks so HAPPY. (Apparently he’s retired now). The second one I haven’t seen, but man, that’s a zippy little dog. For a moment there, I thought the film was being reversed!

48 Kristina 04.26.08 at 1:34 am

Well, every dog needs to feel like it has a job. And these guys seem to enjoy theirs. Fortunately, they have no idea how ridiculous their owners look. Or, maybe they just really enjoy helping their owners look like lunatics.

49 dailyhamster 04.26.08 at 1:52 am

Okay, these “dances” make both humans and animals look like complete doofuses. But the dogs are clearly having so much fun that it doesn’t really matter. The humans must think it’s fun, too, or I’m sure they wouldn’t spend what must be most of their waking hours training their dogs to do this. To each his own. Cute for showing happy people and animals doing something silly and fun.

50 foxy 04.26.08 at 1:52 am

I know everyone has said it already, but I can’t believe how happy that Golden is in the first video. So excited to be there, and into dancing to the music.

Sorry, to be incoherent, I’ve been up for about 20 hours.

Oh, and since nobody has said it yet, get that dog a pa-sickie!

51 judy 04.26.08 at 1:59 am
52 Yitzysmommie 04.26.08 at 1:59 am

O M G!!!
Peeps, do check out genticlemon’s submishe too, it’s even better than the two on here.
I too believe that THIS is redonkulous.

53 Sarah 04.26.08 at 2:04 am

I know everyone already said this but the golden retriever just looked so very happy. They must have had so much fun practicing together. I am a bit embarrassed to say that I actually got quite weepy watching that video.

54 Jessica 04.26.08 at 2:06 am

Okay, I am glad I was not the only one starting to tear up, I thought I was going crazy!

55 bryn 04.26.08 at 2:21 am

…word.

56 DKN 04.26.08 at 2:57 am

Miriam – beyootiful stuff!

57 DKN 04.26.08 at 3:09 am

judy – thank you for that!

58 Laura 04.26.08 at 3:10 am

O. M. G.
I’ve seen dog dancing before, but this one’s SO out there it’s irresistible. Especially the ridiculously happy Golden, grinning all the way through. (I did, too.)

Thanks for the smiles!!

59 Ermine Violin 04.26.08 at 3:12 am

yup – count me in as a tearerupper myself.

Those dogs look so damned happy! I wanna be that happy!!!

60 Michelle 04.26.08 at 3:43 am

I’d rather be dancing with a happy dog than sitting on a flabby arse in a stuffy office, commenting on how stupid people look while dancing with happy dogs. Xp

61 Mari 04.26.08 at 4:20 am

Oh so happy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a HAPPY dog before in my life! Ok once when I dropped a few eggs and my dog licked them up. No dancing dog was happier. Bravo and enjoy life.

62 M. 04.26.08 at 4:27 am

Okay, this is hands down the best thing I’ve seen EVER!

63 Inez 04.26.08 at 5:24 am

“I’d rather be dancing with a happy dog than sitting on a flabby arse in a stuffy office, commenting on how stupid people look while dancing with happy dogs. Xp”

Ha! Exactly :)
God forbid you should allow yourself to look like a “doofus”.

64 YoMama 04.26.08 at 6:03 am

Q: How hard did you have to hit your dog to get it to dance like that?
A: Pretty Hard

65 Shea 04.26.08 at 6:22 am

Haven’t we seen the first video before? I know I have and I was sure it was here! If not, this is gonna bug me.

66 kristyna 04.26.08 at 6:22 am

Oh man that first lady is gonna be me in 30 years : /

67 amber 04.26.08 at 6:34 am

Is this gonna be an Olympic sport?

68 mydragon 04.26.08 at 6:42 am

Boy, I tell ya anybody who even THINKS dogs are just dumb animals should get a look at that. It’s amazing that those dogs can learn to do that when 1/2 of the population has no rhythm what so ever.

69 Katrine 04.26.08 at 10:24 am

Hahahahahaha XD

As some of the other people here, I too have seen the first video a long time ago, but it is still very “watchable”. The second one was new to me, and I must admit, it was pretty funny. Amazing that the dog didn’t get dizzy with all those twirls LOL. And that last part, where it is jumping, hahahaha so funny :-)

70 Gail 04.26.08 at 12:18 pm

I was enjoying tthis so much when I realised I was getting dirty looks from other users in the library -I must have laughed too loudly.

Thank you for posting this – it’s great.

Who is Berthaservant?

71 Jessy 04.26.08 at 12:36 pm

Quick, put in a call to Kevin Costner! “Dances with Dogs” could be his next big movie!

I. love. that. happy. dog.

72 Dogbreath 04.26.08 at 12:37 pm

Judy, thanks so much for the link

http://gottadance.landofpuregold.com/

Wow. And I thought I was teary eyed before.

73 temperance 04.26.08 at 12:44 pm

dog dancing rocks my world. who knew i’d ever be able to listen to ‘achy breaky heart’ without cringing? yeah- i’ve seen the first one many times, but it never gets old!

count me among the happily teary-eyed.

74 KS Claw 04.26.08 at 12:52 pm

Yomama – do people like you ever stop to think, that you don’t use beatings for Dog Dancing? Gawd, people put up the same crap about the dancing horse!

75 Sniper 04.26.08 at 1:54 pm

I must be hormonal, because the joy on that yellow dog’s face made me start crying… in the middle of the CAFE!

You are far from alone. You just know that the big happy dog hears all song lyrics as, “You’re the best doggy! Yes, you are! What a smart, pretty doggy you are!”

76 nancy w. 04.26.08 at 2:50 pm

I’m so glad I read the comments! I, too, had tears come suddenly and inexplicably to my eyes during the first video. At least I’m not the only one, but what is that about?!

77 Wendy 04.26.08 at 3:19 pm

OMG… this made my day. I laughed, I cried – it moved me!

Srsly… I wish my first husband had been this good a dancer!

78 len 04.26.08 at 3:22 pm

I saw this at a Groom Expo years ago. I didn’t even know it existed until i walked into a room to see a Toy poodle dancing to “Monster mash”. It was the greatest day of my liiiife!

79 dailyhamster 04.26.08 at 3:27 pm

@Inez
@Michelle

This is apparently one of those times when typing comments on the internet falls very short. You couldn’t see the happy smile on my face when I typed “doofus,” and you couldn’t know that “doofus” is an affectionate term to me, merely meant to say that someone looks a little silly but cute. I’m a doofus all the time. I did say in my comment that I vote to call this cute because everyone’s so happy doing it. I also failed to mention that I admire the level of training on display. Amazing.

But thanks for implying that I’m “flabby.” ;-)

80 dailyhamster 04.26.08 at 3:38 pm

By the way, in case it’s not clear from my comment at 8:27, I apologize if I offended anyone by using the term “doofus” yesterday. It was not meant as an insult.

81 Anne Boleyn Pole 04.26.08 at 3:57 pm

Who cares if this is old or some people have seen it before! It’s just great happy stuff in a world where we can use all the great happy stuff you can find for us, and it won’t do us any harm at all to see it again and again. If my mom was alive, she would say, “That’s the damnedest thing I ever saw!”

82 tuckeverlasting 04.26.08 at 4:13 pm

BRAVO!!! AGAIN! AGAIN!

83 wagthedogma 04.26.08 at 4:42 pm

Amber, if they made this an Olympic sport, I might actually start watching the Olympics!

84 Winni-pig 04.26.08 at 4:59 pm

My achy-breaky heart just broke completely in two!

Priceless!

85 e-beth 04.26.08 at 5:07 pm

When the dogs were doing the backwards moves, I had to check that the video wasn’t actually going backwards!

86 Catsquatch 04.26.08 at 5:20 pm

WOW!!!

Doggie dressage!

That was just amazing!

Those dogs really are enjoying that, they really do know their dance moves!

I wonder if they want to practice when mommy gets home from work, how do they let mommy know, getting the leash wont work, its not a walk…
Bringing mommys dancing shoes?

Great vids!

87 Carrie 04.26.08 at 5:25 pm

I am so happy to read that I’m not the only one who cried during the video. I was beginning to think there was something wrong with me. =)

AHHH, THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY! Pure joy!

88 Carrie 04.26.08 at 5:27 pm

I am so happy to read that I’m not the only one who cried during the video. I was beginning to think there was something wrong with me. =)

AHHH, THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY! Pure joy!

89 Rose 04.26.08 at 5:51 pm

INCREDIBLE!!! BRINGS A TEAR TO YOUR EYE.

90 Hon Glad 04.26.08 at 6:04 pm

The owners have all the dancing talent of a dispeptic Rhino. Still the Dogs seem happy.

91 Winni-pig 04.26.08 at 7:11 pm

I just watched them again, same reaction.

Ya gotta love people who love their pets so much as to do what seems like such a fun activity with them. They are so connected to each other – its like no one else exists while they are dancing!

92 Megan 04.26.08 at 7:13 pm

“I couldn’t watch the second video though. I really can’t stand to hear Achy Breaky Heart ever again, ever, for even a second, not even for redonkulous cuteness. (does that count as a ’nuff?)”

Heh, I watched the second one with the sound off- I couldn’t stand to listen to it either :P

93 Janni 04.26.08 at 7:18 pm

It is strange, but I too got tears in my eyes watching that golden retriever. All of a sudden, without really realizing why.
People who dress their pets annoy me, the idea of people dancing with their pets annoys me – and after watching that first dog for a moment, I’m in tears.
Why is that?
The second video didn’t have the same effect, and I LOVE border collies above all animals. Maybe it was because in the video, the dog seemed to be working, a little stressed out about all the distraction, still trying its best but not being really happy about itself.. Or something.
The goldie (and its owner) just seemed so – happy.

94 Peter 04.26.08 at 7:19 pm

Bestiality rocks.

95 villy 04.26.08 at 7:19 pm

dkn, are you telling me you don’t know the mortal kombat theme?!?

rookie is sooo cute. and i giggled so much that my kitty had lift her head from my belly and yell at ne for disturbing her nap.

96 Another Angela 04.26.08 at 7:28 pm

It always brings happy tears to my eyes when I see animals and people working together like this, with the animal obviously enjoying themselves so much. The peak of dog domestication must be this incredible attentiveness to their human’s signals. It’s amazing to see in both working dogs and these freestylers.

97 angelcatbeds 04.26.08 at 7:44 pm

If you go to the link someone posted above http://gottadance.landofpuregold.com/
you can read that the woman was once paralyzed with polio and overcame it and now she has a heart condition and that the dog is now 15 yrs old, retired from dancing, and suffering from cancer and arthritis. It’s a very inspiring story. I think this accounts for how touching the dance routine is and why some of us were teary-eyed. Without even knowing the behind the scenes information about these 2, you can still feel the special love and closeness between them. I think this is what we all want to feel with our own animal friends; she is so lucky to have it!

98 Jaysmom 04.26.08 at 7:45 pm

I teared up at the end when the goldie jumped into the dancer’s arms. I think that is what makes us tear up, the sheer love and devotion that is evident. However, I teared up mightily when I watched the clip from “Britain’s Got Talent” and watched a teenage girl and her border collie get lots of accolades from Simon Cowell. Both the border collie and the goldie have a love of their human friends in common.

So as far as tearing up, it is because we get emotional seeing such unadulterated love.

99 beaglegirl 04.26.08 at 7:50 pm

I liked that the people weren’t great dancers. No distraction to watching the dogs!

100 mmm 04.26.08 at 7:57 pm

Add me to the list of silly people who cried while watching the dancing golden retriever.

Glad to know it’s not just me. Hah…

101 AuntieMame 04.26.08 at 7:58 pm

Janni, it might be that Goldens just sort of look happy and goofy all the time anyway. I don’t think the border collie was having any less fun. It just doesn’t “smile” as much as the Golden.

102 Theresa 04.26.08 at 8:53 pm

“Heaven, I’m in heaven,
And my heart beats so that
I can hardly speak,
And I seem to find the happiness I seek,
When we’re out together
dancing cheek to cheek!”

103 JNO 04.26.08 at 9:55 pm

Check this one out from Britain’s got Talent. Amazing dog.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=3Bt4kguLPTU

104 Nicole 04.26.08 at 10:20 pm

I remember this – an oldie but a goodie. But I was expecting to see some kitty pics on this glorious Caturday!

105 Monty 04.26.08 at 11:05 pm

I did not know this existed. How could I not know this existed???????

This is just the coolest thing since….since….dancing horses!

106 yian 04.26.08 at 11:44 pm

here’s an article from the nytimes from a while back on canine freestyle:

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/12/18/fashion/sundaystyles/18dogs.html?pagewanted=print

107 Laura in Alameda, CA 04.27.08 at 3:17 am

The cutest part, for me, was hoe HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY the dog looked.

108 Kitty 04.27.08 at 4:18 am

These might actually top these in the redonkulous category…

http://youtube.com/watch?v=crmD_B8ERzk

http://youtube.com/watch?v=W5TW_uKSCUA&feature=related

(Pre-warning for nuffers: the second vid does briefly have the human stumble and catch the pup’s tail. But she’s no worse for the wear and keeps right on dancing, like the consummate fuzzy performer she is.)

109 Kimski 04.27.08 at 5:36 am

OMG big diagonal backwards walk…sooooo cuuuuuuute.

John Travolta look out!

110 julie 04.27.08 at 5:57 am

only took you three years to post this. congrats.

111 Kar 04.27.08 at 6:48 am

So, that’s what an entire arena sounds like when it squeals.

112 Jan 04.27.08 at 10:33 am

Lovely – made me cry all over my keyboard just seeing how happy the dog was and thinking about all the unhappy dogs out there :(

I wonder if kittehs can be trained to do this…

113 Linda 04.27.08 at 1:19 pm

Ok, I’ve never posted here ever though I’ve been a faithful visitor for years.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who cries tears of joy at the absolute love and happiness of those dogs. I’ve seen the golden retriever one before and every time I watch it, i get all mushy at his happiness.

114 Esri Rose 04.27.08 at 7:39 pm

Rookie, the dog in the first video, is considered by many to be the grand-daddy of the canine freestyle sport. He has since passed away, after a long and happy life. Awwww, those dogs are so happy.

Into the world of Jewish dog breeding.

Man, have some dip.

That was a slice of fried gold. Stuff like this is really the height of civilisation – I’m not even joking. Just think of all the centuries of work and development that got us to the point where we have the time and leisure to do damn silly things like devise, practise and perform elaborate dances with our dogs. It looks like the best fun in the world!
I forwarded this to my dad, who’s planning to get a beagle when he retires. You may one day see video of tehm dancing to ‘My Generation’ by the Who.

Oh, man, this SO does not work for me, even if the dogs ARE very happy about it. But then, I get tears in my eyes at things that many other people probably don’t find cute, so there’s just something for everybody in this world! But as for me…I’d take pa-sickie any day! :)

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE golden retrievers. They’re gorgeous and SO. HAPPY. Bravo.

I am so glad other people also started to tear. That woman and her dog are just so happy, and she is so wonderfully, ridiculously gutsy. I love it.

Now has anyone ever done a dog dancing version of flashdance…

The headline made reference to the dancing horse shown last year. I remembered that one, my thought at the time was why show it. He was good, but nowhere nearly as good as Anky van Grunsven. I watch those every now and then to wash out the taste of Paris Hilton and their like. There is class, looks and breeding. By the way, she just turned 40.

In the Swedish version of Britain’s got Talent, we have a girl dancing with her dog as well. It’s pure gold, I couldn’t stop laughing!

It’s a bit of talk in Swedish in the beginning and end of this, but check out the middle part… and I swear the dog is smiling!

Monty said exactly what I was thinking, how did I not know this existed? and, best thing since dancing horses! I also got a lump in throat and a bit teary.

So earlier today I was having one of the worst days in a long while. Then I watched this lady. So much better now! Hilarious, LOVE IT!

That dog just loves to dance. Period.

I don’t know about the dogs, but the guy looked kind of “pancakey”…

127 UnsureExposure 05.01.08 at 5:09 pm

Whoah.. Someone sure knows how to train a dog! That put a smile on my face. Great stuff!

This was amazing. Especially the first video. I started getting teary eyed at the bond between the woman and her dog. You can tell that they really love each other.

Dogs love to dance with their people, even informally. Most people just don’t get it, so don’t try. I used to dance with my dogs just spontaneously, and sometimes with other people’s dogs– we could stop a party. It never took long for us to develop a sense of the cues each sent the other. I didn’t even know there was a dog dancing “world” until I saw this vid for the first time last year, and wish I had. Every time I watch it I laugh and clap with joy. And miss my dogs something fierce. I can hardly wait to get another one. What made this duo so special was the joyful intensity of the partnership. Take a look at the vid menu at the bottom and watch for the one titled “Tribute to Rookie”. That one made me tear up something fierce.

I also teared up for Rookie and Carolyn.

I do wonder why nobody so far has stated the obvious: It’s the dogs who have trained the humans, not the other way round!
