So tewtally cute. It reminded me of my tiny hammie, who just passed away, like two weeks ago. It’s odd, it made me cry and smile at the same time, remembering when I first had her on my hand. I guess that’s what my lil’ Stella would want.

@nads: I have found that Winter White dwarf hamsters are the most consistently friendly and outgoing of hamsters. We have two, and they have never, ever bitten us or acted fearful. When they see us moving around near their cages, they eagerly run to the doors of their cages and scratch frantically in an effort to get us to hold them. From the very first day, they would willingly climb right out onto our hands for petting. No chasing them around the cage or having to corner them in order to hold them. I have been amazed at how sweet and trusting they are.
The hammie in this photo and the breathing video is a winter white dwarf. You can tell by the “racing stripe” down her back.
This could be about the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Tiny ball of soft fur, teeniest of earlets, teeny tiny brefs. I am melted.

Teho — right now, I have one of the Asian Lady ads (it’s one of the “referred by google” ads), the website is called http://www.chnlove.com. It’s definitely something I see regularly in the same slot on the page (I’m usually west coast but right now am in Pennsylvania, so it’s clearly not just a regional thing). I’m all for people of all nations finding love through the internet, but I admit it is disturbing to find on this site. Good luck trying to ferret it out of the queue. (Do I get love for using the word “ferret” as a verb?)

You know… I wonder if it’s not only a regional thing, but also a time-of-day thing, because your comment is timestamped much earlier than this one is. It would be similar to the way broadcast TV programs are handled. The rougher stuff gets run at times when it’s less likely that children will be watching.
Ad algorithms would still need to take regions into account, too, because the internet is in all time zones at once, 24/7/365. “Prime Time” in Zurich is not “Prime Time” in San Francisco, see.

Don’t the cookies, or whatever, stored in the computer itself have something to do with the ads you see? It is my understanding that Google, and others, track your usage so they can better target their audience.

On ads : well they do target you for sure – in the Ads by Google on the left I get “Asian Girls in Switzerland” (I live there) – but they’re still not very accurate given that I’m a Bear of the female persuasion… It’s 8.30 pm in these parts, Saturday night, time to party – if that’s any help for your research, Theo!!

Let’s be fair: There are LOTS more questionable ads out there; this one’s pretty mild. But yeah, I wouldn’t call these ads well-targeted, regardless. Still working on it.
