5 chanpon 04.08.08 at 3:03 am

(O_O) Is Gato Island anything like Fantasy Island? Because I would love to have 47 of those anerable little fuzzies.

6 Bluemenro 04.08.08 at 3:08 am

Whoa. Talk about cute overload!

7 RosieLB 04.08.08 at 3:40 am

OMG! Tell me that that is not one Miss Kitty’s litter…tell me that there is more than one Mama Cat!

8 Decca 04.08.08 at 3:41 am

We need to come up with a new collective noun for a group of kittens. A squirm of kittens, perhaps?

9 arielle 04.08.08 at 3:43 am

can i sit in the middle? c’mon guys, move over…

10 harlemgrrl 04.08.08 at 3:56 am

I second Decca, “a squirm of kittens” is POIFECT!

Methinks Meg had hit the Merlot a bit heavy as her vision seems to have tripled:)

15 Not That Mike The Other Mike 04.08.08 at 4:08 am

FUN SCIENCE FACT: As we know, red blood cells play a vital role in carrying oxygen from the lungs into the bloodstream. But this ultra high-frequency magnification reveals a lesser-known fact: Each red blood cell contains dozens of microscopic kitten-like organisms, which scientists have dubbed “fluffulates.” These microorganisms are thought to aid in oxygen transfer by playfully batting the oxygen molecules into the bloodstream.

16 Raemie L. 04.08.08 at 4:26 am

@Not That Other Mike The Other Mike: LOL! That brings new meaning to “huffing” kittehs.

17 JinxtheCat 04.08.08 at 4:42 am

Thud, thud, thud, thud, thud, etc. oh I give up. Cute overload.

18 Furbabies 04.08.08 at 4:48 am

I just want to lay down in the middle of the room and let all them kittehs romp all over me! Heaven on earth!

19 Aesthetica 04.08.08 at 4:53 am

25 Rowan 04.08.08 at 6:39 am

@ Not That Mike the Other Mike: LOLOLOLOLOL!!! That was most excellent, sir! Way to be a bio nerd (like me!).
But oh man, that’d totally get me through any day. I’d like that bed of kittens delivered to my bed, pleez.

26 Debbie 04.08.08 at 7:09 am

What breed of kitteh are these?

27 jdl432 04.08.08 at 7:39 am

Methinks Meg is see triples-I count, oh wait, squeee!!! Nevermind. 16, 47. Whatever.

28 Ciepher 04.08.08 at 7:53 am

Do they purr in harmony?

29 berthaslave 04.08.08 at 8:34 am

Gato Island is now my new favorite internet island.

I’ve got kittehs in my blood? That actually makes a LOT of sense, thanks Mike (the other one).

I counted 17 heads. 17 probably has a website, too (Heck, “23″ has a movie!)

A squirm of kittehs? Sure.
A kaboodle of kittehs? Clever.

A SQUEE of kittehs?

Just throwin’ it out there….

30 Lauralu 04.08.08 at 9:23 am

I counted 16 lovely kittens :)

And lol at the other mike! If only that were true….

31 ZePenguinMuffin 04.08.08 at 9:31 am

my word.
all them kittehs in one place….can you just HEAR the teeny tiny kitteh mewlings?? One teeny tiny kitteh mewling is enough but this, surely this is a sign of the end of the world. doom doom dooom mewling doom

32 Kats 04.08.08 at 11:46 am

Wow! I just want to lay down in the middle of the floor and let those kitties run amuck!

33 Total Puppy 04.08.08 at 12:10 pm

Hope my writing is getting better…One of my human partners is teaching me…My dream is to write for kids–maybe for one of the nice publishers of News for Kids. Sooooo…..
Coast Guard Alert as Gato
Island Situation Worsens
by Totalee Puppy
Due to the scarcity of bananas and fish on Gato Island, kittens are taking to the sea in small boats and other flotation devices. The Coast Guard
continues a rescue effort
as the kittens risk dehydration before the boats reach the mainland.
Thanks to international relief efforts, kittens are returned to Gato Island with a year’s supply of age-appropriate
cat food, a goat for milk
and pajama pants to shred.
Relief efforts are monitored by Cute Overload.
A CO spokesperson comments,
“Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.”

34 katiedid 04.08.08 at 12:17 pm

I counted 18 but maybe 19… some kitties are being used as chairs to help the others exsopey

35 Yitzysmommie 04.08.08 at 12:33 pm

A squirm or a SQUEEEE of kittens….fluffulates….Who need reality, I think I’lll just move into CuteOverload & live happily ever after in here. What else do I need in life other than kittayns, puppehs, hammies, bunnehs, skwerls, and various and assorted other critters. I don’t need no steeenkin’ taxes or candidates or wars to harsh my mellow, srsly.
Wave to me when ya’ll come calling here in my little world.

36 Carrie 04.08.08 at 12:42 pm

A squirm of worms! jeesh people.

A squee of kittens and a wiggle of puppies! kaboodle of kittens? kanoodle of kittens?

37 Yitzysmommie 04.08.08 at 12:45 pm

What about a SNORGLE of kittens??
P.S. Meg and/or (T)Ed: Is there a problem with my SNRGL license pic? I haven’t seen it posted yet & I sent it 3 weeks ago???

38 Carrie 04.08.08 at 12:59 pm

Yitzy – it was on here a while back! Hang on!

39 Carrie 04.08.08 at 1:02 pm

Oh wait, it was Baroo… sorry duh!

40 Yitzysmommie 04.08.08 at 1:23 pm

thnx for looking, Carrie! My pic showcases my lovely bright red Patty O’Jeep (it’s a Patriot, hence the Patty….)

41 ceejoe 04.08.08 at 1:30 pm

O
M
G…
could you just imagine being in that room????
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!11

42 Hilde 04.08.08 at 1:30 pm

I see 17 heads, but there may be more.

43 Tyger 04.08.08 at 1:35 pm

I tried to count, I tried!! one, two, three, eleventydozen squirmy kitties!!! -plops on floor to snuzzle them all-

44 Subhangi 04.08.08 at 1:42 pm

OMG check out this beautiful white mini-lion!!!

http://gatoisland.com/archive/tscthekingofcats/

Such a handsome kitteh! And love that doggybone collar! ^_^

45 betsy 04.08.08 at 1:43 pm

I group of kittens is a clowder. Kind of like chowder. I like squirm better!

46 Babs 04.08.08 at 1:45 pm

Other Mike: That makes a lot of sense. I could nap, like, all the time. I’ve always suspected I’m part kitteh, and now you’ve confirmed it! Excellent.

47 leah b. 04.08.08 at 1:46 pm

I would not mind sitting in the middle of that pile of squirm-a-tude. But I would not want to be there when there hungry…..

48 Theresa 04.08.08 at 2:04 pm

“Playfully batting the oxygen molecules” Bwahahahahaha!

49 CaroL 04.08.08 at 2:22 pm

A bleen of kittehs?

50 lezlee 04.08.08 at 2:43 pm

Ackshully, a group of cats is a clowder, a group of kittens is a kindle (I used to obsessively collect collective nouns). Cuter than clowder, but not as cute as squirm!

51 Catsquatch 04.08.08 at 3:10 pm

17 kittens?

SEVENTEEN KITTENS????

Oh the poor poor mommy….

:feeling all sympathetic and stuff:

52 trin 04.08.08 at 3:15 pm

Must be 2 or 3 momma cats…
(are these Abyssians?)

I think I need an infusion of fluffulates, I’m feeling run down lately.

53 Katrina 04.08.08 at 3:31 pm

Imagine all of those sticky-uppy little tails when they walk! OOhh, ok, I have to go to something else, well, maybe in a few minutes…..
I know I have fluffulates and I am feeling them now. Better than medichlorians…

54 Jupiter Star 04.08.08 at 3:44 pm

Yitzysmommy, maybe it was because they already had an almost-identical SNORGL license plate on here? (http://mfrost.typepad.com/cute_overload/2008/02/oh-no-you-di-in.html ) *Shrug* Could explain it. Or they just haven’t gotten around to posting it yet if they were planning to, probably.

*Squee* Squirmy kitties so many little bitty pieces of baby kitty fluff everywhere sensory overload commencing in 3…2…1… *Poof*

[fixed URL, and spelling... as for Meg's content choices, I suspect you're right - Ed.]

55 fifi 04.08.08 at 4:20 pm

I am a massive cat freak but this picture kind of creeped me out. Like, maybe there is too much of a thing.

56 ILoveKitnz 04.08.08 at 4:44 pm

I counted 17 for sure, maybe 18. I do also hope this is more than one momma but judging by the apparent healthiness if the bebehs, I think it must be. A breeder (GOOD one not puppy-mill type!) with a handful if mommas all bred at once might come up with a bunch (sorry .. kindle!) of kitnz like this. HOw will they tell them apart though?? (I’m thinkin’ blue-point Siamese??)

57 ILoveKitnz 04.08.08 at 4:44 pm

“handful OF .. ” probably makes more sense..

58 Pliny 04.08.08 at 4:48 pm

Are these all part of the same litter???

59 Ava Cartier 04.08.08 at 4:49 pm

Cute, yes. Irresponsible? Aye. Who would allow all these kittens to be born knowing what the homeless and neglected numbers are? I’m not trying to rain on anyone’s parade, but come on, facts are facts and disregarding them isn’t going to make them go away, just as disregarding a cat will not make it go away–except by death.

60 mberkie0 04.08.08 at 5:16 pm

@Ava Cartier:
& NUFF to you! Can’t we all just adore the anerable together, peeps? (Can I get a “SQUEE” from the congregaysh, plz?)

61 indigoreiki 04.08.08 at 5:35 pm

Kitten Mosh Pit !!!

62 Catsquatch 04.08.08 at 5:35 pm

Sure!

SQUEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

:plop:

63 debg 04.08.08 at 5:37 pm

In my household, we see “tangles of tabbies” all the time. Seven cats, with six various shades of grey. The oddball isn’t ours–we’re storing him for friends.

64 momof2kitties 04.08.08 at 5:54 pm

@mberkie0

SQUEE!!!

*readies pudding*

65 Karen 04.08.08 at 5:55 pm

I’d love to snorgle them, but I don’t want to clean up after them! They look like siamese! Cute, cute!

66 whiskers 04.08.08 at 5:56 pm

SQEEEEEEEEEEE!

67 Susan 04.08.08 at 6:23 pm

Tell me that’s not one litter. Poor mama if it is!

68 Ava Cartier 04.08.08 at 6:46 pm

Okay, let me see if I have this right: if the critter is cute, it’s okay to have as many as possible so others can comment on how cute they are and make up new names for what a pile of ‘em are? Too bad we won’t know where they all are in five years. I guess common sense and sensitivity toward animal homelessness and abuse have no place in this website, or at least in this thread.

69 Poohbear 04.08.08 at 6:59 pm

My own C.S.O. says they’re lilac and blue Burmese kittens. So :
1. this is three or four litters, the moms are around
2. must be a cat farm (breeder)
3. you can say what you want about breeders but they don’t let their kittens go to homeless, most responsible ones find good homes for them.
4. yes, it’s better to adopt from shelters but you won’t stop people from wanting cats with pedigrees and breeders from raising and selling them.
5. these bebehs look healthy.
6. I support shelters and encourage peeps to adopt from shelters.

70 Poohbear 04.08.08 at 7:01 pm

Oops, *don’t let them go homeless*, been a long day.

71 Ava Cartier 04.08.08 at 7:06 pm

I agree with everything you say, but generally speaking, in an ideal world, there would be no breeders for the sole purpose of making money on pedigreed animals. Therein lies my dilemma.

All of my animals are used. :)

72 danceswithcrows 04.08.08 at 7:08 pm

Paw, we got us a nuff. Let’s load us some puddin’ into the trebuchet over hyar ‘n get ready fer when it pops up next.

Seriously, so many kittens all looking so similar makes me think it’s someone who’s breeding purebred cats. It’s not difficult to find homes for purebred kittens. People *pay money* for purebred kittens in many cases. (Click my username for pictures of my own rescue kitty as well as some other junk.)

73 snoopysnake 04.08.08 at 7:12 pm

A squeeeeeee of kittehs. Yes. Too bad the two Viking Kittens (look for them on youtube) aren’t there to row them ashore to the tune of LedZep’s “Immigrant Song.”

74 catablob 04.08.08 at 7:34 pm

Wow, all together they make up about one blob-sized cat.
Most impressive.

I’ll take five with a side order of hedgehogs.

75 Daphne Moss 04.08.08 at 8:29 pm

The more I know about pet breeding, the less I like it.

76 lurkertype 04.08.08 at 8:53 pm

NTMTOM has solved another great question of science.

Also, SQUEE! Mosh pit kitnz!

77 theoneflyinvet 04.08.08 at 9:53 pm

snorgle!!

78 jmuhj 04.08.08 at 10:09 pm

I count seventeen little purring miracles and yes, may they all be speutered and remain in forever loving homes. Their mama too.

79 Furbabies 04.08.08 at 10:56 pm

They look like meezer babies to me! If you want to see a unique look at Siamese cats, go to “Youtube” and enter “Blue-Eyed, Long-Tailed, Crotch-Dwelling Froot Bat” by madderhatter. Wonderful, you won’t be sorry.

80 Gail 04.08.08 at 11:03 pm

I vote for a “SQUEEE” of kittehs!!!

I refer to my own little family of 6 as “Kattens” (5 of the 6 don’t qualify as Kittehs anymore!).

81 mime 04.08.08 at 11:14 pm

how many kittens do you think are there?cause all I see is………. wooooow there is at lest 22 cats in there

82 Caelus 04.09.08 at 12:47 am

i just wanna dive in and enjoy the ultimate cuddle

83 Totalee Puppy 04.09.08 at 1:08 pm

Let’s hear it for “A Squeee
of Kittens”!

84 Wendy 04.09.08 at 9:58 pm

I can’t count ‘em – they keep moving around!

85 Jo in Utah 04.09.08 at 11:35 pm

Actually that would be a kindle of kittens, officially.
Unofficially, they should be a cuddle of kittens in my book!
