Thanks a lot for the cuteness-induced brain aneurysm, Alex M. and Kate H.

Ah, yes. The game is “Monster Hand.”

    I weel be MONSTER HAND.

You weel attempt to defeat me with teeny bites and leeckings and general proshness.

    The at the end…

….YOU WEEL WALK TOWARDS THE CAMERA LIKE A GIANT.

(P.S. I just got home and Bertha is in full snorgle mood…she no longer plays “Monster Hand” but was rolling around my wrist when the little marmie makes a “SQUEEK” at about 2:20. Bertha froze, looked at the laptop like, “Was that you or me?”)

P.P.S. Blog coming soon. Working out technical issues w/ typepad.

  6. BEWARE THE ROLY-POLINESS. It is a LETHAL DOSE and should be viewed only in short bursts for your OWN SAFETY.

  7. OHMYGOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!

it looks like it has no bones…

    *instant love*

    AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  8. OHMYGOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!

it looks like it has no bones…

    *instant love*

    AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  9. absolutely delightful but remember – not a great idea to play with kittehs with your hands, which teaches them that humans are toys. That dude will get a nasty swipe one day when kitteh thinks fingies are playthings.

  10. *Flail*
    *Bite*
    *Mew*
    *Purr*

    i r ded.

  11. Yees. Yeees. Distinkt purringk detected all dee way thru whilst listening with dee hed-phoans.

  12. I love me some Scottish Folds.

  13. Laura M. says:

  14. :: ded ::

  15. MyRobotHand says:

    Is not kitteh, is ewoks

  16. Leanne….what? Cats are gonna swipe at everything that moves at some point….I WANT my hands covered in kitteh scent so kitteh always knows I am a friend and familiar. If you can’t take a little bite or scratch every once in a while, you can’t take the cute!

  17. I was just about dead from cuteness overdosing when the mew towards the end put the nail in the coffin! If I were anywhere near as cute when I flailed my arms and legs and flopped around, I would rule at company meetings.

  18. (yes, blog is up)

  19. I too heard purring all the way thru. Berthaslave, kisses to Bertha from me.

  20. i can hear it purring all the way through.

  24. leah b. says:

  25. Anabanana says:

So… stubbular. Maybe even the cutest thing I’ve seen on CO – and that’s saying A LOT!

  26. Folds are super cute but it’s a shame people pay tons of money for them from breeders rather than adopting great cats from shelters :(

  27. Awww, look at his little round head! Heehee! I wouldn’t care if my whole arm got clawed up, I’d play with him all day :)

  28. chet's momma says:

eben dis bebeh ken’t beweeve how kewts he ees! i iz moosh!

  29. Cathryn Bauer says:

JNO, agree with the comment about the shelters. However, I’ve been a shelter volunteer. Amazing what shows up at shelters a few weeks after Christmas, sad to say.

If you want a particular breed, you can always call around to area shelters, and don’t forget animal control departments. You can also go to Google and see if there’s a local or semilocal rescue group devoted to the breed you’re after. We love Maine Coons , and we have gotten two absolutely angelic MC mixes from Maine Coon Adoptions, http://www.mainecoonadoptions.com/

  30. Sweet Pea says:

    ***
Just a lil FYI to the owner of the cute kitty…
You really should cut down on that kind of play that involves teasing your cat with wiggling fingers and poking.
The kitty’s nibbles are soft now but when it grows up it’ll turn into rough play and hard bites.
Use toys to play and use your hands only for petting.
    ***

  31. Juniper Jupiter says:

Oh my….I’m THERIOUTHLY barfin’ rainbows ova heah!!! :P

    Anyone else!? :D

  32. hmmm another deformed kitty post. if this kitty was born like this and someone didn’t pay tons of money to have a CUTE PORTABLE KITTEH WITH STOOBY LEGS then ok. but i’d still rather have a regular cat…

  33. Christine H says:

So FLOOFY and SQUIRMY and CUTE!!

I can see how letting the kitteh nawm fingers could lead to trouble later on, though.

  34. Barbara says:

Yes I wanted a shih tzu but also wanted to adopt, so I called around to shelters and one had a shih tzu.

I REALLY want this kitten as well – cutest kitten I have ever seen!

  35. Kitteh. Marmalade. Cute. I feel that aneurysm coming on.

    LOL @chanpon!

  36. Kitty!!! I’m in love.

  37. I allowed my kitten to bite and tackle my hand – I encouraged it! My hands were scratched to smithereens. By the time she turned 1, she never bit me or scratched me…and hasn’t for the past 19 years, nor has she ever bitten or scratched anyone else. In fact, a few people have made comments about how she never even tries to bite when I, or someone else, give her eye drops or sub Q injections.

My sister’s cats are the same.

My point? I don’t agree with those who think this is a bad way to play with kitty.

    And…this kitty is darn cute.

  38. binky-mama says:

    Get in mah BELLEH!

  39. Hmmmm.

1: It is not a deformed kitty. Scottish Folds are a NATURALLY occuring genetic mutation, discovered in a litter from a barn cat in Scotland. PROPER breeders NEVER breed two folded eared cats together, but rather a folded ear and a straight ear to prevent the kinds of degeneration that can happen from the NATURALLY OCCURING mutation.

2: That’s a kitten. My cat was stubby and chubby like that at that age, she as an adult is perfectly normal size wise, including her legs. And Scottish Folds, like British Shorthairs and American Shorthairs, to name two breeds, are generally stout. And my cat, a moggie, is also stout.

  40. Maerlyn99 says:

Aww…must…have…one! I love Scotties! My neighbor had one, and he was the sweetest kitty ever. And the Munchkinness just makes him that much darned cuter!

  41. maggieb_tpa says:

Still hasn’t quite figured out the modesty tail. What a prosh little one.

  42. I love it when the kitteh gets confused and attacks her own back legs!

  43. So much squirming wriggliness!

  44. Nicolletta says:

I iz in ur box, being cutes

    *pppurrrrrrrr*

  45. cack, cachhh

    puking rainbows over heah!!!

killed by cuteness once again. my system can’t take it, CO!!!

  46. My son thinks I am nuts because I am squealing over this baby!! MUST HAVE!!! He is the cutest kitten I have ever seen in my life!!! I love him!!

  47. caroline says:

Roly-Poly little baby! I want to put him in my pocket.. and hear those little purrs all day!

  48. AWWWWWWWWWWWWW man i lof that keeteh!!!

  49. Totalee Puppy says:

    AAAWWWW…WUV-WUV-WUV!!!
    Can I find-a Scottish Fold
    kitty on E-Bay?

  50. lurkingsmirk says:

never have i been so jealous of a hand.

  51. cinderELLA says:

i tink they run about $2.70 on an expensive day. better pay 4 overnite shipping, tho. ;-)

  52. The only thing that concerns me here is…shouldn’t a kitten that age still be with his cat mommy? No decent cat mommy would let her kitten out of sight for this long. Awwww, did something happen to her? There were times in that video where it looked like he was trying to nurse the blankie. Awwww!

And the all the little noises…awwww!

  53. Aesthetica says:

Cute-induced brain aneurysm is correct. I just lost the use of the entire left side of my body. However, the right side is going, “Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!OMG so cuuuuuuuute!”

  54. bees on pie says:

I’ve commented here before, but I swear, this is the first time I’ve felt compelled to say this:

    SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

  55. You know what I saw??? I saw KITTY BELLEH BUTTUN!!!

    :D yay!

  56. veronika says:

good god!!! really!?!? really!?!? that is the most amazing kitty I have ever seen!!

  57. love them scotties…..sqeeeeeeeee

  58. WANT!

  59. Is this Nermal from the Garfield comic strip?

  60. arielle says:

omg. not a cat person. but tewtalleh ded from teh qte! for the following reasons:
    1. the purrinz
    2. the toe beans
    3. the BELLEH OMG
    4. the way it lies back with its legses all splayed in the air
    5. DIE HAND DIE!!!! (nom nom nom)

  61. That was head asploding cute. Serious.

  62. Samantha says:

I’ve never commented here before but I love how the kitty is all:

“That is my tushie! If you touch it I will gnaw off your fingers! Ah! You touched it!”

I have to learn the lingo here because I am surely addicted!

  63. Video is no longer available :(

  64. rubypearl says:

No one else seems to have noticed yet the blackest of black eyes SUCKING OUT YOUR SOULLL!!!!. . .cutely.

  65. shinymathom says:

Possibly the. cutest. kitten. ever. I <3 Marmies, but I love Scottish folds even more... little round faces!
    And oh, the purring! *ded*

  66. Christine H says:

I love how at the end of the video, the teeny kitteh face just gets closer…and closer…and closer to the camera.

  67. watching whole clip :O
hearing squeaky mew at the end x___x

this is puss in boots as a baby

  68. Peaches says:

Wow, way to lay a cute induced coma… this is too much! X3

  69. Cuteness induced brain aneurysm indeed! My cats have called me an ambulance! ;)

  70. Hon Glad says:

Cute bundle of joy, perfect Caturday post.

  71. DAMN you Scotland! First you ensnare me with your delicious whisky and beautiful scenery. THEN you close the trap with your sensibly-priced Italian restaurants and lusty accents. FINALLY, you show me your secret weapons…Tennants Lager and Marmalade-fold kittens. I am helpless in the face of this onslaught. You win again, Jockos. Looks like I’ll be spending my holiday on the Isle of Skye, again. Perhaps you could explain the fine differences between the Scottish legal and educational systems and their English counterparts. That always makes for an entertaining week.

  72. oh wow, going to CO the same time as i’m watching a depressing movie was probably not the best idea. Now i have the strangest feeling of depression and cutetasticness ever…>.O

  73. EaterofShades says:

It’s a plump squirmy wormy kitty!!!

  74. teh tail. heaven help me, teh TAIL.

    mercy….

  75. WHAT IS THAT?
    Is it a guinea pig?
    Is it even real?
    Anywho, it’s very cute.

  76. fashion jerk says:

    The kitteh looks like a teddy bear come alive!! Ohhhh so cute ;_;

  77. VERRRY cute!!!! I saw “PAWS UP”!!

  78. Totalee Puppy says:

My human partners say kitty looks like Orson
    Welles—Mr.Welles was so
    WUVABLE?? Dunno if I can
    spell this right, but
    SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  79. i seriously froze in the position i started watching it in for the entire clip. i am hypnotized.

just another example of how cute is taking over the world, little by little, without us knowing!

(oh yeah, SQUEEEE!!!! belly! rolly polly!!! want!)

  80. Katrina says:

Cutest kitteh eveh- wow, and I have a long list of cute kittehs.

What do you say we all put our heads together and come up with a CO malady just as deadly as a brain aneurysm, but not one. One of my friends just really died from one, Ann was a horse lover and an equestrian, and the fact that I miss her very much is hitting me hard when the CO-induced aneurysm keeps coning up. Her death at 53 is, well, maybe I should get a thicker skin, but you know, folks, we are creative, maybe we can come up with a new deadly-cute-induced ‘fatal’ illness from which to succumb, maybe, please? Is that too much to ask of such a life-affirming, support-giving community?

  81. Katrina, how about “Cuteness Coma”?

I’m sorry about the loss of your friend. :(

  82. Totalee Puppy says:

    KATRINA–Thank you for
    sharin…Your trust in us
mean so much to us…Please know we care
    and we will try…

  83. Linda Harner says:

    - – sigh * blump * out cold.

  84. what a little angel!

  85. I have to echo the sentiments that this is a dangerous way to play with kittens. Of course, all depends on cat’s personality, but play with toys rather than hands is better. I had a cat as a kid that we played with this way all through kittenhood, and he grew up to terrorize, scratch, bite us all! Still have scars!

  86. SpoonyElf says:

Cuteness-induced brain aneurism indeed! *drops dead from Awwwwwing*

  87. “Look, a hand!” (bat bat bat) “Look, a blanket!” (bat bat bat) “Look, my own tail” (bat bat) “Look, thin air!!!” (bat bat bat bat)…

  88. Poohbear says:

Scratching, biting kitties don’t get that way because you played with them when they were little. They get that way because they were taken from their mom too early and she didn’t have time to teach them bite and scratch control. So if we have to substitute for their mom, ideally we raise them with one or several siblings, that way they learn bite control by playing together. If the kitten is raised alone because that’s the only alternative, then it should be mildly scolded or lightly pushed away when it bites or scratches too hard (as momma or siblings would do), but NEVER smacked.
***Cute marmie bebeh, and cute purring.***

  89. Poohbear says:

    @vorbis – cute comment!

  90. Melissa H. says:

I play with my two adult cats this way all the time, and they seem to know not to bite hard or use their claws. (Unless they get too excited, which is not often.) And when I do get scratched, it’s never more serious than “medicate and stick a band-aid on it.”

My theory (and behaviorists can chime in) is kittens learn how to play like that from their litter mates. If they bite too hard, they get bitten back. They learn the difference between play fighting and real fighting that way.

  91. Kathleen says:

Listen to that little purr! How Cute!

  92. What a lovely playfully fella… :-))

  93. sweetpea says:

I used to have the flu, and then I watched this video.

The kitten, she has cured me.

  94. Marielle says:

    O.O
I think my brain just exploded
    TOO
    MUCH
    CUTE!!
    DDDX

  95. Biting hands once in awhile won’t stunt the kitty’s development. I’ve known and raised a LOT of cats, and I’ve been bitten by a LOT of kittens, and bitey-playtime doesn’t turn cats violent or teach them inappropriate play.

Besides, this little guy is at a stage where he wants to bite EVERYTHING. Did you see him lunge to bite the blanket when the hand went out of the frame?

Also I don’t think this kitten is a munchkin, either. He’s stocky and his limbs look stout in proportion to his body, but that’s pretty standard for a Fold. Their limbs are normal-sized, but they’re a bit stockier in general. They have a powerful, compact build.

Kittens love to bite. They bond to their littermates by playing and roughhousing. I don’t think this kitten’s owner is doing anything wrong. Probably this little guy will grow into an affectionate, happy cat.

  96. I have a kitty that I got from the humane society that plays like that. Here’s the difference:

    -pocket sized kitten: SO cute!

-15 pound Fatty McFatter Cat-Not so cute.

  97. Alice Shortcake says:

OMG!! That’s put me out of action for the rest of today. From now on this will be my official “cheer yourself up” vid…

  98. yumyumjanitor says:

I want to stick my nose in the belly fluff and inhale deeply. Just a hit or two to start the day.

  99. OMG. Want. WANT!!!!!!!!AAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!

    [SPLODESPLODESPLODESPLODESPLODESPLODESPLODESPLODESPLODESPLODESPLODESPLODESPLODESPLODESPLODESPLODESPLODESPLODESPLODESPLODESPLODESPLODE]

  100. me again says:

if two of these types of cats can’t breed without problems…obviously there is something wrong. NO one should be breeding these cats at all. one cat in a batch is fine and should be loved as any cat, but for a human to go out of their way to make another one cos it’s SO CUTE!…that’s weird.

  101. Oops!!! TMI! Theo, can you please do the needful? Thanks.

  102. Can’t stop looking at this ROLY POLY POOKIE PUFF!!!

    ::dies::

  103. Want! That was so adorable it almost hurts; what a cute kitteh! This definitely put me in a good mood for today.

  104. )________” This is me totally comatose after several viewings. Oh dear, I HAVE to get some work done…just one more…

  105. The only mutant I’m wondering about wrt this video is the human filming it. If I can hear the cat purring, how come i can’t hear the human giggling? How you could you be in the room with this stuff going on and not be giggling with delight the whole entire time?

  106. Katrina says:

Again, my thanks, and big snorgle to all of your furry, finned, feathered and scaled and skin loved ones. Thank you very much for understanding about why ‘anuersym’ cuts do deeply- not only does it have the incredible horrible word play of ‘Ann’ in it, her brother Andrew is just devastated, I’ll bet she was a CO reader, too. Let’s just make something up that people really can’t die or suffer from, coma seems like, well, you can come down with that, too, right? I’m thinking that the Cute Overload community can come up with something. ‘County Overload’ is a nice place.

  107. My kitten came up to watch about halfway through the video. I caught a picture with my webcam:
    http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g184/Oritape/Picture0045.jpg

She’s thinking: no way was my tail ever that short.

^_^ that kitten is insanely adorable. Mia agrees.

  108. oh, and on the issues running around in comment land:
Me mia play “attack of the hand!” all the time, and she lightly mouths my fingers while holding them with soft paws (which is hard, since a few of her extra thumbs have claws that don’t retract..)

and on the topic of mutant cats, my mutant Mia seems to be doing fine with her paws that don’t match. Yes, her ears do stick up all the way, but no paw has the same number of toes as any other. I didn’t go out of my way to find a kitty like this, she stood up on her hind legs and stared at me through the bars of an adoption center. She even was holding a toy in her better-formed hand. I love her weirdness. That’s just one of the weird things about people, they like things that don’t make sense.

  109. anomalous4real says:

Yup, purring all the way through…… but the mew mew around 2:25 puts this one straight over the top. *****ASPLODE, iz killd ded furm teh cute!*****

Jez: I came late to the party and just played the video a few minutes ago. Try again, it’s worth it!

Katrina: So sorry to hear of the loss of your friend.

me again: You’re right to be concerned about inbreeding and health, but SFs aren’t inbred and don’t need to be. In fact, they should NEVER be mated with other SFs:

SFs are a new breed based on a spontaneous mutation. The breed’s ancestor was a momcat discovered in 1961 (on a farm in Scotland – SURPRISE!). The folded-ear shape comes from a single dominant gene that affects cartilage development, so any cat with one copy of the gene will have folded ears, but cats with two copies can develop a degenerative bone disease, so they’re always outcrossed with non-folded cats to keep the breed healthy.

A single folded-ear gene isn’t harmful. They’ve generally been crossed with American and British Shorthairs, and that outcrossing produces healthy kittens.

The single dominant gene means that half the kittens will have folded ears, and the other half will have straight ears:

    Straight-Folded x Straight-Straight —–> Straight-Folded + Straight-Straight

  110. aawww, The purr, the tummy, the fluff on the tail. I MUST have a kitten.

(comes back later) When my boys are old enough :(. Wouldn’t do to get a kitty and have it terrorized by a toddler.

  111. Pupils like parking lots – pray drive maxing in such a young cutie! Ahhh, a future serial killer in the making. Watch out neighborhood birdies and beasties!

  112. Redbone says:

I’m not much of a cat person, but scottish folds are just undeniable.

  113. zaferina says:

LOL @chanpon! I have a meeting at work 2moro and am totally going to try this tactic………1st doode to grab all my limbs gets coffee made all week.

    Lov that pud!

  114. So cute !

What race of cat is that? please

  115. Katrina says:

ally- I thought you duplicated the message on purpose, I laughed at it because of the (comes back later)! Sorry if I shouldn’t have laughed, but it was very funny, I hope you see it that way!
That kitten is just so cute- where does this one live-in the US? Or, has Japan ‘done its’ thing’ again?

  116. Oh, God, the cute, and the fuzzy, and the round… *whines* I fully gave into the desire to snorgle my computer screen. X3

  117. theoneflyinvet says:

    TEH FUZZ!!

    iz inescaypabuhls!!

    SNORGLE!!

  118. miltoncat says:

I must kiss this kitteh, then I must eet heem. Nomnom!

  119. AuntieMame says:

    *flail*

Yes, I was hearing purring sounds all the way through, too.

Instead of an aneurysm, it could induce a sugar high. It certainly makes my teeth hurt. :)

  120. Those look like tatami mats in the background so I suspect Katrina’s correct. The Japanese have once again trounced us.

That tail btw, should be registered as deadly!

  121. double-yoo.
    tee.
    eff.

    There are no words.

  122. starling says:

“The kitty’s nibbles are soft now but when it grows up it’ll turn into rough play and hard bites.”

Unless you tell it off when it uses teeth and nails. Always worked for my kitties. If they recognised it as human skin, they’d bat it, but would -never- scratch it. Even little toddlers were perfectly safe.

  123. JuliaJellicoe says:

Never seen anything flail so adorably.

  124. Hey ‘me again’. Not to sound harsh or anything, but have you ever considered researching and educating yourself on a given subject? Like, in this case, going out there and looking up valid information on the Scottish Fold breed? Because it’s painfully clear you don’t fully understand what you are voicing objections too.

  125. Furbabies says:

Weebles wobble, but they don’t fall down!

  126. neptune says:

    I AM OVERLOADED.

  127. Calleigh says:

If you turn the volume up really loud, she’s actually purring the WHOLE TIME!!!! SO CUTE!

  128. Oh good god. He looks like a little puppet! I’m done for.

When he squeaked, my cat Heidi was off the bed like a shot! I think she’s still looking for the phantom kitten…

  129. THANKS FOR THE AMAZING VIDEO. I ADDED IT TO MY CAT VIDEO WEBSITE.

  130. TurboFloof says:

We are shelter kitteh/doggeh parents, and always have been, but – after meelions of shelter pets, my mom wanted a Sottish Fold bebeh. I finally got her one for Christmas (yes, he was bred responsibly as noted above,) and he’s about 6 months now. His name is Duff, and he is ABOUT THE CUTEST LIVING THING EVAH! SO friendly, purry, soft, funny, sweet, anerable! I love my own shelter babies, but still secretly want to break into my mom’s house and steal Duffy back. He stole my heart – even though my Mom is the best cat mommeh, and he’s happy and thriving with her, I still plot ways to get him back…

  131. TurboFloof says:

PS, Oh, and my Mom’s also the best Hooman Mommeh too!

  132. lsuhillary says:

Soul happily sucked away!! Lurv dis babeh!!!!

  133. Mary (the first) says:

VERY cute and I heard the purring all the way through also. I wouldn’t play with kitten with my hands this way though, petting yes but not encourage to bite. Obviously a baby this age will bite/attack, but I wouldn’t deliberately entice him to do so since as he gets older that would be not allowed.

  134. angrycupcake says:

Oh, gosh…has anyone else noticed that those eyes are suspiciously alien-esque? Those pupils aren’t just big, they take up the entire eye. I think he/she is an attempt at world domination by extraterrestrials. I just can’t resist the call.

  135. Caroline says:

Lots of squeeeeeee in this house, esp from my SO, who is the soppiest guy I’ve ever met when it comes to kittens and bunnies. How can anything be so cute? How can it be legal? The legs waving in the air, the snubby wee tail, the happy purring. And surely, playing with such a baby with your bare hand is safer than an object that can’t feel how hard its touching her soft little bod. What cat owner can’t put up with a few scratches? It goes with the territory.

  136. Raemie L. says:

Squeeeee… my internal Qte-ometer spins with the kitteh’s flailing and rolling.

  137. sads :( says:

    NO LONGER AVAILABLE! :(

    Waaaah.

  138. Ahh! Sheer adorable fluff! I can’t believe how utterly round that kitten is.

  139. oh i recognize her! her name is tawashi. her owner runs a cat cafe in japan. check this site:

    http://neko7575.cocolog-nifty.com/blog/

    has more pics/vids of her.

  140. Aww, he’s becoming a mighty hunter!
