Says Sender-Inner Sarah M.: "This is Lucy. She’s a sugar glider. And clearly amazing at it. I can’t even tell you how long it took to get a good shot of her leaping across the room…those are some fast little suckers!"
tracyFlick; they’re awesome pets, but they need as much care as a dog or cat: feeding, socializing, exercising. And they’re off the chizzain on the cuteness scale!!
It looks like a hairy x-ray film. “Here, you can see the anterior maxiumus cruciate bone which has sustained a hairline fracture here, but with pins it should set in about six weeks.”
Is that a tiny belly with an even tinier bellybutton I see? If you snorgled that tiny belly you might snort the whole bebee up your nose. Nose candy!!!
These guys do look as sweet as candy but I imagine they’re little rascals.
I may be the minority here, but I honestly don’t think this is all that cute. It’s okay, I guess, but… i dunno. The bones sticking out and stuffs just… don’t do it for me. *ducks*
For those wondering if gliders make good pets: they do, IF you are up for the challenge. They require a lot of care: you have to prepare their food for them because there is no commercially-made sugar glider feed (they are omnivores and need fruits as well as protein sources such as insects). Further, sugar gliders are very messy and have a certain scent which many people find unpleasant. If you have gliders you’ll need to clean up after them every day. They also require a large cage and are noisy at night, being nocturnal. Gliders do best in pairs, as they are social animals and get depressed if kept alone. They can live several years and if you get gliders and then realize you don’t want them, they can be hard to find homes for. They’re not for everyone.
Sugar gliders are Australian native animals, and it’s illegal to export them.
Consequently, the only way they could have gotten out of the country was by cruel smuggling methods. Plenty of mothers and babies would have died after being stuffed into socks and cloth tubes, and sewn into the linings of coats and bags, in order to transport them illegally.
As cute as they are, it makes me sad to see our native fauna kept as pets overseas, knowing the trauma that they (or their parents) went through, whilst being smuggled out.
Please don’t support this cruel practice. Don’t buy pets / animals that were obtained through this selfish and murderous trade.
Australian Marsupials are protected animals. Let’s keep it that way.
just for anyone who’s wondering/has a suggie, Exotic Diet makes some awesome pre-made food. It’s a small company that makes everything fresh and prepared to the exact specifications of the sugar glider’s unique diet needs. I get it at a local pet supply store but you can order it online. Here’s their website: http://www.exoticnutrition.com/Sugar-Glider-Food-Dept..htm
Lucy’s favorites are the dried papaya bits, eucalyptus powder and pellets with fruit. I make her fresh fruit and other such things once in awhile but she does well with this stuff.

I seriously think Cute should have an extra section for sugar gliders. They’re just soo damn talented (said a la Jan Itor from Scrubs).
Leann Rose – no it’s a sugar glider, like the sender-inner said. It’s a marsupial. They glide the same, though.
ooh, a furry rectangular chandelier! awesome!
it looks almost like a mahogany glider from australia, which is believed to be close to extinction….
Oh that is cool. Wish i could do that.
I can see the glider now…
“You didn’t get the pic? Okay, I’ll fly across the room AGAIN….”
And no privacy tail? Even Superman kept his legs together…
Skinny little things aren’t they
check out the grippy pawsitude on the back feet! opposable thumb-like and everything!
It’s a square ani-mule!
*Well, rectangular really.
Well I won’t be getting one. It’s bad enough with my cats jumping up on everything.
Okay, I’m trying to picture that in my house, leaping over my head. um… maybe I should just stick with my hamsters.
Are they good pets? Or mean?
Knowing what it takes to get a pic like that (including a camera with fabulous shutter speed), I am in awe of the photography. Kudos!
♫♪”who said, who said, I can’t be superman? I say, I say, you ain’t seen nothin yet!” ♫♪.. [leaps in the air]
Thought this song fits Lucy better than Hannah Montana.
the wing fringe is deadly cute… agh!
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
A spoonful of sugar (glider) makes the medicine, go down…
medicine, go down…
medicine, go dow-own!
*bows to Sarah M.

Boris Badenov is unhappy somewhere.
Are they the animals where you have to have two or else they become depressed?
Now that is one good stretch!
That hurts just looking at her! I know that she’s SUPPOSED to look like that when she glides but skin looks s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d beyond the limit!
He’s all !!JAZZHANDS!!
That looks awesome!
Um, where is he?? The photo looks like it’s taken in someone’s living room. He’s very..square.
hehe rectangular cuteness
ohmygod i love sugar gliders! rodents have, like, a monopoly on cuteness or something. they are just so tiny and cute and SQUISHABLE!
Wow!! You can have these behbehs as pets? I want one!
Is it a glider or a manta ray? Can it go underwater? Like Eddie Izzard’s helicopter?
Shapewise, the light in my childhood bedroom kind of looked like that…Well, minus the head, tail, and hands. But still.
Must be a happy sugar glider who gets to sail around the house. Can they be free range? Or just limited ‘out’ time?
Ceiling Cat’s leejuns o’anjulls mus look laik dees! But Sugar Glider best left in natural habitattt, not in howss pleezthx!
Just need little blur lines behind him!
i’ve been trying to take a photo like that of my glider for some time. they’re quick little buggers! very cute pic!
