But the recipe REQUIRES IT

by Meg on March 31, 2008

No, I am NOT going to find a substitute, this recipe REQUIRES a CUP of KITTEH, and THAT’S WHAT WE’RE GOING TO DO!

sounds pretty delectahbuls!

4 Nicolletta 03.31.08 at 3:11 pm

Stays crunchy, even in milk!

5 Poohbear 03.31.08 at 3:12 pm

Marble cake ??

6 chanpon 03.31.08 at 3:15 pm

I’ve seen this picture floating around the ‘net for a while. Never thought to submit. :/

How exactly do you level that cup of kitty to be sure it’s really one cup?

7 Katrina 03.31.08 at 3:20 pm

That looks like a good cup and a quarter to me. Is this considered a wet or dry ingredient?

Is it frosting or the cake itself- so many questions- I just started cooking, I just don’t know!

What exactly would you substitute for a cup of kitteh? Ferrets would be stringy, I would think. Puppehs would be higher in sugar (being more hyper). I just don’t know. I guess I’ll just use the kitteh instead of trying to figure it out.

Everything tastes betteh with kitteh. And if you love black and white cookies, you’ll love tuxedo kitteh!

Further proof of the boneless cat.

12 LeeshaJoy 03.31.08 at 3:40 pm

Oh wait. The recipe calls for *whole wheat* kitteh, not all-purpose.

13 metsakins 03.31.08 at 3:43 pm

I bet the fluff is gonna get all caught in your teef

14 Fegzy 03.31.08 at 3:58 pm

A cup of kitty a day keeps the doctor away.

I bet there’s a place in Japan right now that serves hot cups of kitty every day for peoples’ joy and amusement.

15 tracyFlick 03.31.08 at 4:05 pm

This looks like the kitteh I saw at PetCo. yesterday. Suddenly a hand came in its cage and grabbed it. Kitteh was like WTF? Then the nice lady told it, “Congrats, you just got adopted” and put it in a box. Made me smile. :)

17 cjms 03.31.08 at 4:06 pm

Lovely caption/title as always, Meg.

18 Rachel of Cyberia 03.31.08 at 4:31 pm

More proof that cats are a liquid.

19 devicakes 03.31.08 at 4:34 pm

This looks suspiciously like my kitty.

But I don’t think she would be so accepting of this culinary fate.

20 Mirysien 03.31.08 at 4:36 pm

that looks like 2 cups of kitten :) (.. so cute)

21 Marianne 03.31.08 at 4:54 pm

24 Holly 03.31.08 at 5:03 pm

I just had lunch and i’m pretty full…but i could still go for a cuppa kitten!

Nom nom nom!

25 Angela-Eloise 03.31.08 at 5:08 pm

Fegzy, Japan, in fact, does have cafes where there are a bunch of cats and you can sit there and drink your tea or whatever and pet the kittehs.

*GLUG!*

Oh sorry, did you need that for something?

27 riolinda 03.31.08 at 5:39 pm

mmmm… the BEST recipe requires a cup of kitteh! :)

28 Peg of Tilling 03.31.08 at 5:54 pm

You can substitute three hamsters for a cup of kitteh but you have to throw in a little extra floof so the fur-tatta comes out right.

29 CoffeeCup AKA KittyCup (for this post only) 03.31.08 at 5:57 pm

How can I get my bun to sit in a bowl like that? Seriously, you guys, that cat is lounging in the glass like it’s a throne pillow…I think actually that the kitteh likes the heat from his/her body that is being conducted by the glass.

30 Too Late 03.31.08 at 5:58 pm

No, no… that’s instant kitteh you got there… just add string.

31 jen 03.31.08 at 6:01 pm

“hi neighbor i’m just wondering if i could borrow a cup of sugar…errr..oh!!!”

32 Kris 03.31.08 at 6:18 pm

That cat’s head is GIGANTIC for the amount of body that is apparently in that bowl!!!!

Ah-ah-ah-CHOOOOOO! This is why don’t post on the kitty posts… sniffle.

33 Miss Ruth 03.31.08 at 6:32 pm

Anyone else remember the kitten pie from Young Einstein?

34 Xenobiologista 03.31.08 at 6:50 pm

Cup of kitteh…pinch of catnip.

35 Jennifer 03.31.08 at 7:21 pm

AAAAAHHHH, trying not to hyperventilate from the cute while at work. Wonderful shot!

36 Jess 03.31.08 at 7:45 pm

Send that kitteh straight to boxhab! :-)

37 Lisa 03.31.08 at 9:04 pm

This pic has earned its rightful place on my desktop. It’s almost too much! Ah!

38 Kar 03.31.08 at 9:16 pm

Luckily I always keep a couple of bottles of bonsai in the cupboard for emergencies.

I kid people. Really. Freezing maintains more vitamins.

But judging from the size of that front paw, we’re not going to fit in that bowl for much longer.

39 berthaslave 04.01.08 at 12:43 am

*sticks face into bowl o’ kitteh*

42 leah b. 04.01.08 at 4:19 am

4 cups of tuxedo snorgle comming right up!!!
Spolp goes kitteh into bag runs out door.

43 jd 04.01.08 at 10:18 am

You cannot measure dry kitteh by wait (they don’t), only by volume.

44 peep 04.01.08 at 11:47 am

jd:you are trying to kill me. STOP IT! STOP! Do I have to level Kitteh on counter and eyeball it or what?!

anyone: WHY to kittehs do this? ALL three of mine do these things all the time…the smaller and weirder the bettah for them.

45 writtenwyrdd 04.01.08 at 11:53 am

This is about the cutest thing you have ever posted. Ever.

46 Duckie 04.01.08 at 3:02 pm

It’s like the cat has no bones!

47 CG 04.01.08 at 4:30 pm

Now the cake will has a flavor

48 jd 04.01.08 at 6:34 pm

To measure kitteh by volume, first allow contents to settle. Gently using your fingers, smooth until the purr is level. Always measure dry. Kitteh and water inappropriately mixed will react, letting off steam.

49 Katrina 04.01.08 at 9:10 pm

I think that zis kitteh will do in zee recipe.

Can one mix puppeh dogget and zee kitteh? Does one blend zem togezer for zee rich, flavorful aroma?

Should one keep zee kitteh and dogget apart until service? I just don’t know!

Steam will ‘appen, for sure!

50 Gail 04.01.08 at 10:32 pm

@Katrina: You can’t mix kitteh and dogget if you are keeping Kosher. Otherwise, it’s fine.

51 jd 04.01.08 at 10:48 pm

Almost forgot. When looking at this picture, PLEASE remember to sing The Swedish Chef song from The Muppets: Yorn desh born, der ritt de gitt der gue, Orn desh, dee born desh, de umn bork! bork! bork!

52 ally 04.02.08 at 12:49 am
