What a pretty bun! Does anyone know what breed this is? I always just call them velvet bunnies…

  2. bearlet says:

the velveteen rabbit comes to cah-lee-foh-nia!

  3. JarethsDreamer says:

That is a BEE-YOU-TEE-FULL bunny rabbit! and even the garden is so picturesque, I’m not quite sure that it’s real…
and born on Easter??? That’s so perfect for a bunny. all bunnies born on easter should get special priveledges. I don’t know what priviledges bunnies would prefer, but I’m sure they can be accommodated. until then, they disaprove, of course.

  4. warrior rabbit says:

Maggie, I’m pretty sure it’s a rex. They are very soft…

JarethsDreamer, it might have been adopted at Easter, rather than born on Easter. Many bunny owners celebrate adoption days, if they don’t know the actual birth date. Both of my bunnies were abandoned, for instance, so we guesstimated.

  5. Maggie says:

A Rex! Yes, I seem to remember being told that once before. Thanks warrior rabbit!

  6. Sandy says:

This is such a beautiful picture! Lovely colors and a super cute bunny.

  7. Annie says:

Yay!!! (Hand Clapping) It’s a California Bunny tip toeing through the California Poppies. Happy Easter birthday Pancake!

  8. berthaslave says:

    Mmmm…..pancakes….

  9. Rua says:

That looks like my idea of “Bunny Heaven.”

  10. acelightning says:

Pancake Rex, you lucky bunny, to have such a pretty garden to frolic in!

Okay, now I *AM* going to go into a bunnysquee seizure…..

    BunnybunnybunnybunnybunnybunnybunnybunnybunnybunnybunnyBUNNY!

  11. Hon Glad says:

Happy Easter peeps, it’s snowing here in the UK.

  12. Raemie L. says:

Lovely photo with the bright poppies towering over the bunny. Something about the fading fence (matching the bunneh’s fur and warm tone ^_^) lends a hand to the ‘storybook’ feel for me.

  13. ThreeCatNight says:

A beautiful picture; just the entire composition! Bunneh reminds me of the frontispiece from “The Velveteen Rabbit”.

  14. lindr says:

Ummm, the only bunny I saw on Sunday was the 6′ snow Easter Bunny (complete with basket) the neighbors built after the 15″ snowstorm on Friday here in Wisconsin! Brrrrr – I want poppies.

  15. Yitzysmommie says:

Hoppy Easter, Mr Pancake. Great name.

  16. ariel says:

    love the rollover capshon.

  17. NutherDeb says:

This madorable bunneh looks very similar to our mini Rex. Of course ours is surrounded by piles of snow that seem to never melt rather than beautiful poppies!!!

  18. Shannon says:

    This picture is beautiful!

[It really is... and I'm not actually much of a rabbit person. - Ed.]
[PS -- don't tell my Schmoop.]

  19. ktd7 says:

    ‘Specially love the photog’s shadow!

  20. Arokthis says:

Is it just me, or does it look like he’s about to cry?

  21. J. Bo says:

    Such a gorgeous photo!

And what IS it about naming bunnies after baked goods (Pancake, Cakes, etc.)? It just seems so appropriate…

  22. Mary (the first) says:

Is his coloring something with a name? He looks like a “pinto” horse.. can I call him Pinto bunneh?? Very beautiful.

  23. Andréa says:

Wow! This is a beautiful picture!

  24. Marianne says:

That is just beautiful! Oh man, I hope it will be summer soon. It’s snowing outside right now…I love snow, but it’s time we got some sun.

  25. CoffeeCup says:

I think it might be a chocolate rex…I have a rex and he’s tri-colored, and the ‘official’ name for his coloring is ‘broken’ – I have a broken bunneh!

I have a question for bunny people out there – all the research suggests that rex rabbits weigh between 8 and 10 pounds, and mini rexes weigh about 3 to 4.5 …well I’m not sure if mine is a rex or a mini rex, but he weighs about 5 pounds and the vet says he’s a perfectly healthy weight – does this mean he’s actually a mini rex? The previous owner doesn’t know – she said he was a rex, but it doesn’t seem like regular full sized rexes can be only 5 pounds!

  26. Kar says:

I realize that this isn’t the point, but what kind of flowers are those? An exotic flame tulip?

They’re really colorful & beautiful. Almost as much fun as that Velveteen Bunny

  27. jmuhj says:

Ah, Bunday. Orange u glad it comez wuns a weak?

  28. michelle says:

Coffee Cup, I have a male mini rex (all black, 12 years old and healthy, and SPOILED ROTTEN!) and he’s approx. 4 pounds. I would say that you have a mini rex. You’re right with the research: regular rexes are huge in comparison.

Meg, this is quite a beautiful picture of a beautiful bun. Then again, I *am* partial to mini rexes! Thank you.

  29. Babs says:

    PANCAKE J. WRBLE, PEOPLE.

  30. CoffeeCup says:

Here are a few images of my rabbit from the photostream I just created off Flickr…I previously only had photos of him uploaded somewhere else, but you can’t see that site without a log in :-P

  31. warrior rabbit says:

    Kar, it’s a poppy. A golden poppy, actually — CA’s state flower.

  32. NutherDeb says:

CoffeCup: I would also tend to think that yours is a mini rex, especially since he is a male, and so would tend to be toward the high end for weight. Full-size rexes really do seem huge!!

  33. NutherDeb says:

By the way, your bunneh is also adorable!!!

  34. Wbirdie says:

    Spring Hopes Eternal!

  35. bananasforbunnies says:

    Lucky, lucky, Bunneh!

  36. Subhangi says:

What a great pic! It makes me want to run out into a field full of flowers… very pretty.

  37. Jessica says:

That’s my nephew! I’m so proud. Pancake J. Wrbl throws the BEST birthday parties, too. I love how the California bunneh is representing in the California poppehs!!
