OK, I hates me some snakes…HATES ‘EM!…but even I have to admit Mr. Sleek there is kinda cute. I just wish he was wearing a smile like the McSnakersons in a previous post, with the kitteh named Nibbles. (Too lazy to look for the link…anyone?)

OMG – little Snakelette has a smiley face on his neck!!
The smiley eyes even have little light reflections in them. Seriously, look at his neck, you will see it!
How adoreable, like the animals with hearts in their fur.

  23. AuntieMame says:

The babeh squirrel is cute and all, but the tiny McSnakersons totally made me say “ohhh, how precious!!” like a total dork. :)

  24. Annie says:

OMG the Skwerlio is adorable.. and speaking as a gardener the snake is awesome too.. is it a gopher snake????? NOt a ball Python Right???

  25. Shannon says:

Thanks for the bebbeh snake pic!! Snakes need love too!

  26. rcg says:

  27. Cute tiny bebe squirrel… I’m scared of snakes! :-S

  28. lou says:

i must be one of the few that actually quite likes snakes! i wouldn’t wanna step on a rattlesnake but otherwise i don’t mind them one bit

imagine the tiny wittle tongue! so cute! and he’s almost cuddly! almost…

  29. susan says:

OMG! so cute! what kind of snake is that? i want one…

  30. Fegli says:

Ever since we took in a wee tiny snake that was crawling in a parking lot (when I was like six or seven) I’ve loved snakes. That one reminds me a lot of it. <3

  31. AliceTanzer says:

Argh! I am DEAD from CUTE! Love the snakers :)

  32. Barbara says:

    I needed that.
    Absolutely HORRIBLE day at work.
I’m just going to look at cute little animals.

  33. snoopysnake says:

    Squeeeeeeeee!

Snakiesnakiesnakiesnakiesnake! Our littlest snake 5 was this little just a few months ago. They grow so fast in the first year. Their eyes are so big compared to the rest of them at that age!

  34. snoopysnake says:

BTW Meg, my husband and I sent you some photos of “5″ our snakie. I hope you will post at least some of them here. He’s as cute as this little one here. Obvy more people still need convincing that snakes are cute.

  35. Trish says:

I have a Dumeril’s boa named Lucy who is simply gorgeous. There is nothing about snakes to be afraid of. If you don’t frighten them, they will calmly hang out with you and absorb your body heat. (I’m talking about the non-venomous ones here. I’d never want to have a poisonous snake, though they do look very pretty too.)

And I think I NEEEEEEED a skwerl behbeh!! I’ve wanted one forever. *runs out to buy a Havahart trap – Just keeding!*

  36. Trish says:

OMG, there IS a smiley face on his neck! How the heck did you see that, 19petals?? Good eyes!!

  37. Skerrington says:

    Wah, snakeeeeyyyy!

  38. Mary (the first) says:

Love the snaklette and I also see a smiley face on his neck, the first two dots and “smile” below, right past his head! I think his name must be Smiley McSnakersons!!

  39. Gail says:

BOOOTIFUL squirrel eyes!!!! And, I must say I’m not usually one who thinks a snake is “cute” but this TEENSY-WEENSY one is adorable!!! Especially with the smiley face!

  40. core says:

Snakelette is gor-gee-ous (so is the skwerlio)! Snakes feel like living woven beadwork to the touch (not slimy). I hope that those who are scared of or hate them will consider giving snakes another chance. Reptiles are so amazingly cool, and they can be so cute (remembering the eensy chameleon that was on here ages ago)!

  41. chanpon says:

Am I the only one who finds the snakelette cuter than the baby skwerl? I mean look at his teeny tiny head and miniscule body! It’s adorabulssss.

  42. Sam888 says:

oh my god, what if the snake grows up to eat the squirrel!? Or vice versa! Quick, someone start “training” them! OH THE HUMANITY!

  43. Pixy Misa says:

“There is nothing about snakes to be afraid of. If you don’t frighten them, they will calmly hang out with you and absorb your body heat.”

I live in Australia, where this is very not good advice. Here, the best assumption is that any snake you encounter is venomous and hungry.

So I’ll enjoy the cuteness of Junior McSnakersons from a safe distance!

  44. Shiny says:

SQUEE! I would rather snuggle the snakie than the squirrel, personally, but they’re both cute! But then, I am the girl who awws over Komodo dragon specials on the National Geographic channel. Much love to the cold-blooded cuties!

  45. emily says:

this is the most epic submeeshe everrrr!

  46. kg says:

I think that is a wee garter snake…maybe

  47. LOLbaby Mama says:

    GAH!

    DAMMIT!

Why do you ruin a perfectly good post with a disgusting snake????

  48. fish eye no miko says:

I think they’re both cute! The little squirrelie looks almost like a mousie (which I also think are cute)m and the little snakie-pants is just soooo teeny! Awww…

  49. Subhangi says:

SQUEEEEEEE!!! The Bebeh skwerl! I wanna kees the top of its head!

And the Snakeling … AWWWWWWWWWWW. Look at them eyes! And so TIIINY.

“There is nothing about snakes to be afraid of. If you don’t frighten them, they will calmly hang out with you and absorb your body heat.”

Awwwww, that’s sounds fuzzy, but I agree with PixyMisa – lots of venomous snakes in India too (and if they’re not venomous, they’re BIG and HUNGRY) so I won’t attempt to snuggle any grown snakes I meet unless I’m sure they’re harmless and they like me! :P

  50. kilgore_trout says:

Oh, he’s a shoelace! I remember those times! I used to carry my bebeh snake in my front pocket! *Sigh* he’s wiggling around in snake heaven, now.

  51. Hon Glad says:

That snakes a worm in fancy dress.

  52. Sunshine0460 says:

That IS a flying squirrel in the top pic..I know, because I have one, and he looks exactly like this pic…excellent pet, by the way..very friendly, deadly cute, loves to hide peanuts in our pockets…
And the teeny snake is just adorable! He(she?) looks like he’s smiling-ever so slightly..

  53. Jupiter Star says:

I saw the leetle skwerl and went, “Awww.” And then I saw the snake and fell into a sugar coma.

(What does it say about me that I find the little bitty snakey about 500,000 times cuter than the fluffy bebeh squirrel?)

  54. katiebug says:

that snake is adorable. i used to work in a pet store, and we had a checkered garter snake give birth in the store. the baby snakelettes are born live, and they are TINY. i wanted one so badly, i thought i’d die. unfortunately, i was living in a dorm at the time and wasn’t allowed to have pets. a couple of years later, the pet store had more of these precious little shoelace-sized baby checkered garter snakes, and i couldn’t pass up the opportunity! i took one home and he has made an excellent pet! love to watch him fish for his dinner, and he’s very mellow and very interesting to watch. snakes can be cute too!

  55. Janice Poh says:

I love the snake! I used to have one like this about 6yrs ago. If i’m not wrong, your species should be a Bronzeback. A Rainbow Bronzeback – flying tree snake. Feeds on small frogs, lizards, insects.

Mine was a Common Bronzeback. :) Love it sooo much. Especially when it gets grouchy the few days before it sheds it’s skin!

  56. Katy says:

Looooooooooooooooove the tiny snake, and the squirrelpooftail.
And the people who comment on here just to complain about snakey are extremely rude in my opinion. Ever heard that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all?

  57. K. O'Dee says:

Oh! Hello, gorgeous! And hello, other gorgeous!

These are loverly birthday presents, thank you!

  58. do you know any other information about this subject in other languages?

  59. K. O'Dee says:

Wai-hai-hait a minute, the squirrel was called STEVE MCQUEEN?!

It just got better. That is beautiful.

  60. Kidda says:

Where can I get a small snakey like that one? better if it won’t grow into a huge anaconda.
    They’re both sooo looovely…*head explodes*

  61. Gail says:

Happy Bday, K. O’Dee!!! Many happy returns and snorgles and all things QTE!

  62. cheesybird says:

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE x 2. Me loves all the beasties! And Teensy McSnakerson is really pretty too.

    K. O’Dee, right there with ya!

  63. cheesybird says:

I mean on the Steve McQueen thing, not the birthday thing. But happy birthday!

  64. acelightning says:

What a pretty little snakelette! (Or snakelet, as in “bracelet”?) I wonder what kind of snake that is?

And LOLbabymama… “GAH! DAMMIT! Why do you ruin a perfectly good post with a disgusting rodent????” *EVERY* creature is beautiful in *someone’s* eyes…

  65. Annie says:

Acelighting I kinda looked last night online becasue we have gopher snakes here in the west that look like that and also there is a kind of checkered garter snake ( I believe it lives i the eastern united states Canada region) that looks similar.. so I am guessing it is either one or the other.

But I noticed someone else mentioned some kind of tree snake..
At any rate it is really a beautiful snake.

  66. JuleeJulee says:

The snaklet is adorable, and the picture quality is equally awesome! Can we have an XTREEM closeup of the head?? Oh, and I like the aerial-squerrial too.

  67. LOLbaby Mama says:

    Acelightning,

So solly you disagree. I happen to be terrified of snakery.

I rely on this site to provide cuteness in the form of fur, fins, and feathers. I HATE being caught off guard by a nasty snake! *shudder*

  68. Mandi says:

snakes are not cute! no matter the size!

  69. Laura says:

Squee! Skwerlie and McSnakersons in one post! So much cute!

  70. Pliny says:

I found a garter snake on a sidewalk that was that tiny a few summers ago. I contemplated keeping it, but instead just moved him to a safer spot outside.

  71. bcteagirl says:

Mama: I am sorry that you were caught off guard by the snake. However many other people here find them cute.. There is a lot of diversity here. I happen not to like dogs.. However I know that they (along with snakes and even the occasional bug!) will be posted here… I would not post about them ‘ruining’ other posts by posting dogs… You have to take the good with the ‘I don’t think that is good’ here ;) Glad you liked the other post though :P

  72. Peep says:

Mr. Mc Skwerlersons looks like the stress doll with eyes that pop out….fer crissake don’t SQUEEZE….ok maybe a widdle squeeze.

  73. DoodleyDog says:

    I can’t believe I’m saying this….but that’s one cute snake!

  74. berthaslave says:

I doubt anyone hates legless reptiles more than me. Primal, psychic fear.

But this one…this one is cute. For now.

So I’ll just look at the squwerl.

  75. core says:

Per my earlier comment, since it seems necessary after some subsequent comments: The snakes I have handled have been the pets of friends, or in a museum setting; in other words, where they were absolutely known to be non-venomous. Of course I meant that only snakes and other reptiles absolutely known to be safe should ever be approached, let alone touched; unless you absolutely know for sure that they are safe, don’t go near even if they are little and cute like McSnakersons in the picture.

  76. Rose says:

Aw… Mr. McSnakerson is so smiley! And though they will never be fuzzy, they can be very warm, especially if you pick them up from under their heat lamps. My ball python is a notorious cleavage-diver and he loves to cuddle! So yay for cute snakeys!

  77. crazyauntvicki says:

MacSnakey does have a smiley face. Mary, you are so observant. That’s incredible. I love it! He is so cute and I don’t mind snakes a bit but I could live the rest of my life without one. And flying squirrels will bite the tar out of you if you aren’t careful.

  78. taj says:

Where are the badgers and mushrooms?

  79. Ciepher says:

As long as the hiss baby doesn’t like to nom on mice, I’ve got no problem with him – the eye-to-head ratio makes sure of that!

I prefer the squirrelio though. It would be sooo cute to have that soft little hand warmer to hold. ^_^

  80. Kar says:

I can’t stand snaked but that bebeh is surprisingly cute.

I think it’s the small head in proportion to the body. He looks so dainty! Like the braided plastic about to become a friendship bracelet we made at camp.

  81. Poe says:

The squirrel is cute, chewed-off nails are not..

  82. Katy says:

Stop posting negative things about the (totally adorable) snake. You’re hurting its feelings, and annoying me.

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/kolyavolkov/1986722980/

    Baby snakeys are sweet.

  83. Peep says:

That Babeh snake is NOM NOM NOM…and you could swallow heem reeeeaaalll eazy…slurp!
    I love the EYE!
    GIMMEE THE THE EYE!

  84. MaryAW says:

I love the tiny snake! We had one like this many years ago but were unable to keep him alive as he had been hurt before we got him. He had several good weeks with us. His name was Mocha, like coffee with cream.

  85. Laura says:

    MORE SNAKES!! MORE SNAKES!!

Thank you Meg for finally realizing the cuteness of snakes. After a few snake posts, I think we need a “Reptiles and Amphibians” category!!!
