This guy is so small he is on the WAITING LIST to ride on another koala’s back. Puhlease. That is small. He’s measured in "grams" whatever that is.

He’s got little Yoda ears when he chews!
Squeeeeeee! i love how his ears weegle while he eats!
Fair dinkum.
If my math is right, that little bebe is only about a half a pound! And I swear, it must all be in that redonk-huge head!
omg what an awesome job, to hang out with the sweet little baby all day! i want to change places with the plucky australian lady…
Oh dear Lord. I am hooked! Cutest ever! Must have one!
koalas ‘n racks!
the doodlebug! awwwwwwwww.
1 gram = .035 ounce. This little guy weighs in at 7 oz (200*.035). Incredibly small for 7 months. Wonder what he weighed at birth.
grams are like raisins
so he’s 200 raisins big and he’s 50 raisins bigger than when the lady who thinks he’s clever for chewing a leaf put him in her pouche
i think he’s cleverer than that, cuz, hey, he’s got a cute strine lady with a job and a pouche hand-feeding him leaves…which means he’s cleverer than me, now i think of it…(munch munch)
Time for a new category! Koalas and racks. So adorable.
yep.
Koala’s n’ racks. perfect.
plus she has a sock or somethin in her left ‘chest’ pocket, and she has a Koala necklace. AND she has a nice voice and a cool uniform.
she is so lucky! (and bee-bee Koala isnt doing bad either!) sweet!
oh and another thing-
are they born with a full size nose or what!?
thats killer!
nommm, nomm, nommm.
cracks me up!
OMG – he’s a clever doodlebug! And, Karen at the Koala Sancutary seems like a pretty cool step-mom!
I could watch that chewing and ear wiggling action all day!
Let’s have a “trade work with Karen” day. Eh? Then we can throw some shrimp on the bar-b. yay!
Ohhhh…I THUDDED at work.
Eating leefs is hard work.
If I had a koala, I’d name him Doodle.
There is nothing softer than a koala – I have fortunate enough to hold one and OMG!!! Everywhere is an axis of snorgle. Unfortunately, I will probably eat this little guy because he is so unbelievably cute.
Oh Mah Gawd. I just watched this vid like 7 times in a row and I’ve got bebeh koala-shaped retinal burn from being so close to my monitor. How can it be. so. cute?
I renew my request for a “nomnomnom” tag.
(Or, as Karen might say, “requist.”)
Cliver, ain’t I?
Maybe this big guy can be in a future post:

OMG! ears moving lol!
BTW, is it true that Aussie slang is dying out? Is it true that the kids don’t know from “fair dinkum,” “the grouse,” and “’struth” anymore?
Oh my, it’s exotic-bear-o-rama.
The nommulence! The furrilicious ears! And most of all – the EYEBROWS.
Plus the nose.
Makes me wanna go nibble on some eucalyptus leaves meself.
FUZZY—EAR—ACTION!!!
*Pant* *Pant*
Oooh. Too much…
NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM!!
We spent 3 weeks in Australia a year ago – this little guy is at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary (see her badge), my absolute favorite place of our entire Aussie vacation for seeing the animals there – if you travel to the land down under, don’t miss it! It’s in Brisbane, well worth the trip. You can hop around with a herd of kangaroos there, too.
Okay sooo I thought koalas all grown up were cute but that little Doodle Bug is adorable.. and Karen I am soooo Jealouse. I would love to hold that little baby.

SQUEEEEEE!!!!!!!
Could someone explain to my boss why I’m ded and only 1/2 my work is done?
And, while you’re there – could you please call my mommy and tell her I love her.
Bye all – I’m sorry I dieded from the Qte.
Omg. All the evidence strongly suggests there were at LEAST two humans within a foot of this koala baby, AND NOBODY SNORGLED HIM. For a whole minute and 14 seconds. I don’t understand it, people. Let’s get him out of there to a place where his talents will be better appreciated.
OMG! The stubbulence of the claws! And the nom-nom-noms! All hail to the Doodlebug!
BTW, it’s good to see Karen has the classic Aussie HRT (high rising tones). “He gets called the Doodlebug?” “Seven months?” “About fifty grams?”
My C.O. universe is now complete! Can take no more. THUD.
(Like, for example, my apartment.)
The “doodlebug”! They should just stick with that.
P.S. Theresa, I lived with an Aussie for four months and I definitely adopted the Aussie HRT.
Not only are koalas mind-numbingly cute, they also smell like eucalyptus!! Menthol fresh!!!
DOODLEBUG!!!!! Meg, are ye tryeeingk to keeel ussss????
I think this koala is cute. But he has a big schnozzle. Meg doesn’t think animules with big EARS are cute (even if they have adorable faces), but she thinks koalas with big (not so cute, let’s face it) NOSES are cute. Plus they have big ears. I don’t get it….
I just wanted to kiss that widdle nose, and tickle those ears…
Vandevere
Clever Little Doodlebug = Best Phrase Ever.
Fact.
how do people double-triple-quad post.
i dont get it?
muscle spasm or what?
makes ya wonder.
and where IS Theo when ya need him to delete , delete, delete!
[Working. - Ed.]
our hero.
please feel free to delete my rant. (and this for that matter) HA!
[thinks about this]
…nahhhh
OMG!!! *munch munch munch* [Stares in disbelief at the cuteness]
I’m sorry, vandemere, it is not a widdle nose, it is a big honking nose. In fact, it is the ultimate beep nose.
OMG! Love the ear wiggle-age!
“Koala ladies” – hee!
blair you took the rainsen words right out of my mouth. 200 raisens!!!
I would love to take care of him…
He’s so gorgeous – and now I’m wanting to hop the CityCat or Bus and take a trip to Lone Pine (it’s in Brisbane where I live – in fact I grew up within walking distance from it) and go and have a schnorgle on behalf of all CO addictees……
BTW, that other Theresa is not me.
If I remember correctly a gram weighs about the same as a paperclip. So one super prosh baby koko weighs 200 paper clips.
For some reason I thought “HRT” stood for Her Royal Tortitude.
Must be a Vox thing.
Charliewabba, I guess that because it is a beep nose, it’s cute, even if it is big. If something is beep-able, it’s cute, regardless of the size.
*splat! I’m on the floor cuz I’m qte overloaded
Love the koala bebe. Perfect for soft nuzzlings. I’m gonna grow some eucalyptus and mail him some. Maybe bake it in a cake!
As soon as I recover!
omg the ears omg the ears…
DOODLEBUG! what a cutie pie. those Australians have all the luck.
Reminds me of a weird but entertaining moment in the comedy of Mitch Hedberg:
“My apartment is infested with koala bears. It’s the cutest infestation ever. Way better than cockroaches. When I turn on the light, a bunch of koala bears scatter, but I don’t want them too. I’m like, Hey… Hold on fellows… Let me hold one of you, and feed you a leaf. Koala bears are so cute, why do they have to be so far away from me. We need to ship a few over, so I can hold one, and pat it on its head.”
Koalas & Kleavage!
When I was 8, I was in Qld for the bicentenary (OMG – that was 20 years ago). My parents took me to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary.
I lined up for ages to get my photo taken ‘cuddling’ a koala, but the Chinese woman before me got the koala’s claws hooked in her knitted jumper (sweater) and she screamed, which freaked out both the koala and I… So I got a photo of the Koala-keeper holding the koala, and me gingerly reaching out to touch it with my finger tips!
Much more recently, I went to Currumbin (also in Qld), and lined up to get a pic of me actually holding a koala – which you can see here: http://alivicwil.livejournal.com/19807.html#cutid3
Well worth the wait – though I should have done it sooner
He’s already lookin’ a wee bit dopey from that eucalyptus….
: )
Hi Theresa
Yes it is true that sadly the Aus-tray-lee-uhn vernacular and slang ARE dying out. Our childrens exposure to many many fine examples of US programming has resulted in them not only starting to sound a little American, but also to stop using terms such as “Fair Dinkum”, “Flaming Galah” and such-like.
*sigh*
As for HRT…over here in the Land DownUnder, that is something that ladies in the, er, ‘later’ years of their life take…if you know what I mean
Aaaannnnd, Oi’ve nivver herd of our excents beung called thit before (he, he….) {that was a bit terrible of me, and also slightly New Zealand when I read it back}.
Anyhoo, back to the cute and cuddly koala bears. In the state of Victoria they have wild koalas, roaming the bush. Yes it’s true! My boyfriend and I went on a roadtrip along the Great Ocean Road (highly recommended) and had to stop the car on the side of the road becos of all the redonk wild koalas. We of course were completely overcome by the Qte. Too cute.
Unfortunately for the wild koalas, they are apparently slightly less cute that the ones kept in the sanctuary as they are prone to getting all manner of nasty diseases and infections, so in my opinion…sanctuaries for all koalas, with weekly snorgling trips for troubled teens and other members of society. Aaah, world peace achieved via a koala axis of snorgling.
OMG. Death. By. Insane. Levels. Of. Cuteness.
:head explodes:
Did you SEEEEE how his little fuzzy ears wiggle with every munch?!?!
My little senegal parrot is about 200 grams!
omg he’s so small! And the ear wiggle! and his name is “Doodlebug”!!!! It’s all just too much. I’m so glad this woman is getting him healthy, he might’ve died without her.
The ears seem to enhance his chewing — much like opening your mouth helps you put mascara on. Watch him: chew, wiggle, chew, wiggle, chew, wiggle, adjust leaf in mouth, adjust ear stance, chew, wiggle.
Ooh, can we all write in and beg them to keep the name “Doodlebug”? Soooo apropos.
Snaps to the Mitch Hedberg reference. Pure comedic genius!
200 grams, thats 0.44 of a pound.
Oy! When he spikes the camera and sends his nigh-lethal rays of cuteness directly at me . . . well, it slays me. Or, nigh-slays me.
Forget killing me with kindness, fuzzy cuteness is my kryptonite.
AUSSIE ACCENT!!! I split my time between Brisbane and Malaysia (in Aus for uni, in Malaysia otherwise) and argh. I miss the accent so much.
and aww, tiny lil bebe koala. snuggle.
hmm
i recall a gram weighing a lil more than a paperclip.
i would’ve been a lil peeved otherwise.
‘eye o the beholder’ i guess.
i’d still let him stay ova’ big snozz and all.
precious angel.
i love how they’re all talking ’bout him, and he’s all “munch munch munch…what are these people talkin’ bout? mmmleaves….munch munch munch…(ear wiggle)”
and here in my mind’s eye I had the little guy on one half of the scale and 200 graham crackers on the other side. phwah!
Kealy I’m so glad I’m not the only one to think Yoda- But I was just watching return of the Jedi, what’s your excuse?
SO. much cuteness
I live in Queensland, Australia, and I went to Australia Zoo last week (home of Steve Irwin). As we walked through the entrance to the zoo, there was a lady holding a koala greeting us and letting everybody touch him! He was sooo soft and fuzzy, but just a warning if you’re thinking of snorgling a koala – they smell quite gross! But their cuteness more than makes up for it. Koalas are very lazy and sleep nearly all of the time. I heard that they are so lazy due to the narcotic qualities of Eucalyptus leaves, but I recently found out that it’s actually because the leaves have a very low energy content and the Koalas need to conserve their energy. I prefer the stoned koalas theory personally.
BTW, I LOVE how someone called us “Strine”! Too funny
Awwwww, what a tiny bebeh!
Words cannot describe…
Too cute! I dropped dead when he turned his head to face the camera. Heart literally stopped beating. For a whole minute.
Revived by the twitching of his fuzzy little ears.
What a huge schnozz too! SO CUTE.
I’m trying to convince my boyfriend to get me a baby koala, but he’s convinced one cat is enough…. butttt…. it’s soooo cuttteeee!!!
An ex boyfriend of mine’s mother was a volunteer carer. She used to bring home baby koalas, wombats, birds, owls, you name it. They really are sooo gorgeous.
OMG, that is the CUTEST!
Huh? Was he born too early or something? It can’t be right a koala baby can’t cling on to his mommy the first year or so.. or do they have a pouch? O.o
Oh, they’re smaller than that when they’re born! As in premature-fetus-type inch-long size! Seriously, as marsupials they aren’t “done” when they’re born!
Maerlyn – Indeed, snaps for Mitch, may he rest in peace.
Niiiinnnggg, doodlebug ^_^
Heee I remember this one!
“The ultimate beep nose” – yes, I have to agree. Also the ultimate noserub nose! Just imagine rubbing noses with one of those!
Yes, Emmaluvspuppies, the truth about koalas and eucalyptus leaves is the leaves so low in energy content that that’s why koalas have to sleep so much.
And yes Littlecat, they are marsupials so first the baby is in the pouch…after that it climbs to the mother’s back and clings there.
Koalas are the epitome of cute. *beep*!
(and *noserub*)
I’m about 99.9% sure that Karen’s accent is actually kiwi. Qld is home to more kiwis than assies anyway, so 50/50 chance on that one
In which case, the Qld accent may indeed be Kiwi anyway….
omg.
assies = aussies.
struth.
That’s some SERIOUS nommage on that bit of leaf there. Little bebeh koala sure knows how the nommin rolls.
wow. i had no idea that mitch was dead. now i am sad.
LITTLE WIGGEHLY EARS!
Numpfh!
