Paws Up pics by doctor’s orders

Doctors should start prescribing paws up pictures like this instead of antidepressants. Instead of 100mg of Prozac, would you like 100 kitteh paws up pictures? We could stuff the pics into a medicine bottle if that helped.

[Ehn ehn ehn! kitteh waves paws around, erasing anxieties everywhere]

Complaint: This photo caused heightened anxiety following the realization my office does not have one of these.

Solution: Install desktop kitty model, pronto.

  2. Sandy says:

All kittens lower anxiety and blood pressure.

  3. Gloom Raider says:

Also an effective antidote to the little doses of poison that are political blog comments! :-)

  4. CoffeeeCup says:

I’ve never been second before, oooh. Such a cute cat! The furriness! The paws! I’m done.

  5. CheshireCat says:

I am very conflicted about this picture. At first it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside…but then comes the devastation, when I realize: I wanna pet and snorgle and kiss this kitteh sooo bad and I can’t! Purrooo :(

  6. Theo says:

  7. CoffeeCup says:

Dang! Gloom Raider beat me to the second spot. :-P

  8. MandaBain says:

Does he help with ear infections too? I literally just walked in the door from my Dr.’s appointment for one of those…

Maybe Dr. MeowPants should whisper sweet mews into the offending ear…(as I snorgle his belleh while he bats my face with his tiny pawwwsssss)

  9. the_becca says:

This is such an excellent picture. It perfectly captures that “Nothing can ever be wrong when you have a kitten” thing :)

  10. LunaKitteh says:

ahhhhh…that warm, fuzzy smile of his makes me feel all warm and cozy, too.. and the blankets make me want to snorgle down and take a long nap with him. Hope your eer problums get better, Manda! :::::::::sigh:::::::
…lurves da kitteh, such nice stripes, too!

  11. the_becca says:

Also, this is pretty much exactly what my cat looked like when he was a kitten :) See picture here: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77/idiolect/catness/MouseSink.jpg

  12. metsakins says:

    axis of snorgling showing YaY

  13. the_becca says:

(By the way, here’s that same picture from above except with the color fixed: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y77/idiolect/catness/MouseSink-1.jpg )

  14. liz says:

    oh sure.
it’s all warm and fuzzy and relax-zin lovey-ness.
until, the kitten from the previous post creeps up and does a gigantic belly bustin flying flop (legs/paws and claws all stretched out like tiny projectiles)right in the middle of said relaxed kittehs belleh. And all HELL breaks loose right there in front of God and everybody !!!
armagedon. that’s what that would be.

  15. debg says:

I’ll take two and call you in the morning.

  16. Lizzy says:

Instead of a hundred pictures, can you just put a hundred snorgletastic kittums in a bottle for meh? (A large bottle, though, don’t smoosh them!) Yes, I’ll take that second refill with me now, thanks…

I have da flu. It sux0rs. Kittum tum tum snuggles would be most appreciated. … Though I’ve got nurse Pheebes the mini Schnauzer as well. :)

  17. Dee says:

Lizzy: I wholeheartedly agree. Nevermind the 100 photos – I’d MUCH rather have 100 kitties! Woohoo!

    (Wouldn’t that be a blast?!)

  18. rOSIE says:

I don’t know what’s cuter and funnier sometimes – the redonk of the photos or the reactions of the peeps on here! I love you guys!

  19. Kimbunny says:

BTW, has anyone else noticed that along the right side of the picture, there is the fur of ANOTHER, much larger cat???
Perhaps the kitteh is looking up into the eyes of it’s Mama! :)

  20. Decca says:

Side effects include squeals, envy, and a tendency to burst into baby talk. Do not take Katzac if you hate cats, are allergic to the extremely cute, or believe that Keanu Reeves can actually act.

  21. liz says:

i did notice the other fur in the photo.
‘almost’ does not look like cat fur.
    hmm. and another thing-
I DONT HAVE CUTSIE LITTLE HEARTS THAT I CAN INSERT BETWEEN LETTERS AND I WANT THEM!.
too bad i am not computer literate. i could get me some of those.

  22. Theo says:

Liz — if you’re on a Windows PC, do this:
    1) hold down the Alt key
    2) hold down the 3 key on the NUMBER PAD
    3) release the Alt key
    4) release the 3 key before it starts repeating ♥333333333

Try it with some of the other numpad keys, too.

  28. Meow House says:

Kimbunny, I think you’re right: mama kitty is cut out of the picture … but why?! And, notice the roundness of the kitteh chest? It’s tewtally poking out!

I want to scritch the kitteh in the photo on the head and rub his tummy and kiss his widdle nose!

  34. Sniper says:

I wonder if this kitty is Boss Kitten’s good twin.

  35. Jacquie says:

That little face says, “Love is in the air”.

  36. crackjob says:

Tabby kitten overload today, boy…stripey goodness.

  37. brinnann says:

I wonder he’s one of those doctors who make you wait three hours in the waiting room before you get to see them (we’ve all been there before). I think I could handle the wait, though, if we had office kitties to keep us company. O_O Just got visions in my head of kittehs dressed in teeny scrubs!

  38. m in athens says:

This picture is also a good example of something that I’d say rivals the paws-up in this picture for adorability. Ladies and germs… the cat chin. Of course, even more adorable when it’s a kitten sort of cat, but reliably adorable at any age.

  39. Theresa says:

    Stripeys, too.

  40. Carrie says:

    I don’t fink it’s the mama – perhaps a weird pillow?

  45. fish eye no miko says:

This photo is just.. wow… [squees]
I love how kitteh’s coloring coloring works with the bedding; all the brown/natural coloring…
    [happy sigh]

  46. Mary (the first) says:

For the life of me I don’t see any other fur in the pic. nor can I see anything within the posts except some little bitty circles. What I do see, however, is the axis of snorgling presented for our use AND kitteh paws which must be nommed immediately. ♥So, here I go to snorgle and nom. kthxbai

  47. boomer says:

I need a dose of “paws up” stat!

  48. fish eye no miko says:

Yes! Oh, man, that widdle kitteh chan! [rubs kitteh chin]

  49. Sarkat says:

When my cat was a baby her nick name was Kitten Prozac. Cause it’s hard to be depressed when you’re snuggling a kitten.

  50. charliewabba says:

what would you call said medicine?

    pawsuptinair?

    squeesplodinal?

  51. berthaslave says:

    no no no
doctors should prescribe the kitties THEMSELVES to snorgle and kissle and rubbiedubbie.

  53. Anya says:

How DARE you take mental illness so lightly?!! Depression is not a joke; it’s a serious condition that afflicts a large percentage of the population. You can’t fix it with kittens. Way to be insensitive.

Just kidding! Although I half expected to see ridiculous posts like that. But seriously, kittens can be quite medicinal! My father, who is recovering from a triple bypass, regularly checks the ol’ C.O. to relieve his post-surgery stress.

  54. ashagato says:

this guy looks just like my baby, who just got his balls removed today, AND he caught a cold at the vet! poor baby. i wish he were a happy right now as this little one.

  55. ashagato says:

BTW, the acronym for Axis of Snorgling is A.O.S.
i’m going to go kiss my sick kitty’s AOS ;)

  56. LunaKitteh says:

I have read of studies that have found interacting with pets help people heal, and so I think you should definitely encourage your daddy to look at this page frequently, Anya… if your dad can be around a real kitteh or puppeh, that would also be good. Animals are good therapy, as long as they are well behaved and don’t climb up your leg or behave badly. I hope your dad recovers soon and will be smiling at the qte and having fun… my prayers are wit him..and you..

And Ash, your kitteh has my sympathy, too..can’t say I know how he feels but … that hadda hurt. My buddy Skippyjon sends his condolences for the loss of your kittehs… harbls… he lost his a while back… he’s not the fatherly type,so it’s just as well…

  57. rabble says:

i’ll take 150 mg, twice daily please!!

um, also any other other mac users with a canadian english keyboard setup? just in case i need to make a heart sometime?

  58. Momof2kitties says:

Skippyjon! We loooovvvvvvveeeeeeee heem! We fear not a single bandito! (clap, clap.)

And looking at Mr.PawsiesUp has made my migraine go buh-bye! Time to go snorlge the AofS on my widdle Georgie Porgie! Just to make sure it’s really gone, ya know. Purely medicinal, of course. ♥♥♥ ☺

  59. Momof2kitties says:

    Dang. EarWorm.

    “My name is Skippito Bandito!”

    Crap.

  60. Ex-Network Geek says:

Hah. You think you’re kidding? You think you’re KIDDING??? I have this notebook. It goes with me to an activity that I find somewhat stressful and anxiety-producing. I have Xanax for anxiety, but unfortunately Xanax makes me too sluggish for said activity (or indeed for anything other than staring off into space or sleeping, depending on dosage). So Xanax is reserved for really bad days. For the rest of the time: my notebook has a picture of one of my cats in it, with the caption, “DON’T PANIC. Just keep looking at the kitty.” If only I could keep the actual cat in the notebook!

  61. Subhangi says:

    AWWWWWW. ^_^

I want to tickle its belleh.

  62. Nancy says:

I don’t think kitties can replace a good dose of prozac, but they’re a fine supplement to depression. I speak with experience.

I maintain that you’re not living if you don’t get your daily dose of vitamin ‘fuzz’.

  63. Hon Glad says:

  65. nickeve says:

I’m sooooo…. in love with this creature…. What a cuteness!!!

  66. metsakins says:

I have the 365 cats calendar and while I’m on hold or chatting with our delightfull clients ☺ I flip through that and it really helps!

(I have bought the 365 cats calendar for 10 years now. Next year…CO calendar or cats….Brain Hurts)

  67. metsakins says:

may have to stick to the cats, I foresee this -

“sir could you hold on a second”

    *pushes hold*
    *passes out from cute*
*boss takes call to prevent loss of client*
*boss takes calendar away after pouring bucket of cold water on me*

yup, sticking wiht the catz for work.

    ♥OOO!♥
    Thanks, Teho!
So I’ve been wrasslin’ with a non working antidepressant that is a PIA to wean off. I shall inform my esteemed psychiatrist to never mind new psych meds, he should just prescribe kittens for me. Many kittens!
And on second though, nevair mind the psych doc, I’ll just see Dr MeowPants here, he’s MUCH cuter.
YM wanders off singing “My name ees Skippito Friskito, I fear not a single Bandito”…THX for the earworm!

  70. happypiano says:

i looove this picture! >o< it's changed my desktop completely. ^_^

  71. padawannewt says:

Perfect! I forgot to take my crazy meds this morning (dam, dam, dam, need to put extrys in my purse), but now I have this kitteh. But OMG now I want to snorgle him!!!

♥♥♥♥ Hee, had to try it…

  72. wayne says:

Scrubs prescribes kittens to help one of their patients in Zach Braff’s mind.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2XJx3mpDU8

I wish J.D. was my doctor

  73. Fegli says:

Agreed. In fact everyone should just be GIVEN a kitten to ensure 100% happiness around the clock.

P.S. wayne, that has to be my favourite segment of Scrubs ever. I wish J.D. was real.

  74. H says:

Finally! someone recognizes the unadulterated adorableness of the chin! I cannot adore the chin enough. It is most perfect and nubbly!

  75. Sir Real says:

I concur – not a replacement, as sometimes even a kitten can’t make a clinically depressed person smile. Fer Reals. But a fine supplement, oftentimes with synergistic effect!

  76. MandaBain says:

I’m addicted to Scrubs & I wish everybody in it were real…but somehow I think I’d have to eventually kill J.D. He would drive me crazy. So he should probably stay imaginary. I’ll replace him on my Scrubs hospital team with Dr. Meowpants…

  77. Mrs. Catlabash says:

Oh how lovely! Kitteh has a name, Chihiro, and a slideshow of 205, count ‘em folks, 205 photos on Flickr! Now if that won’t bring your blood pressure down to normal, nothing will.

I hope this will work, don’t know if links are allowed – http://www.flickr.com/photos/fofurasfelinas/18600275/in/set-257434/. It’s the same Flickr site Teho posted above, fofurasfelinas, and the photoset is called Chihiro.

  78. Mrs. Catlabash says:

OK, and the funniest is reading her human’s little essay introducing her. Turns out Chihiro is probably the last kitteh we would choose to foster a calm and relaxed atmosphere, LOL! She was a feral rescue and still has a pretty wild nature, hates to be petted, doesn’t purr, is a bit of a bully, and in general is a “little jaguar,” LOL! But one thing’s for sure, she is gorgeous. Snorgable at your own risk.

  79. punkinberry says:

I recently had my hip replaced, and my two little kitties were bound and determined to lay on me and purr me back into good health. And it worked! Yay, teh powah of teh kitteh! ♥

  80. Theo says:

Mrs. Catlabash — actually this post was Meg’s, hovertext included. All I wrote were the “how to make a ♥” instructions in the comments.
    ;)

  81. Gingertrees says:

I’m ON ♥Prozac♥, but my doctor DOES encourage me to seek out additional stress-relievers/mood-boosters. I think she’d approve of the homeopathic kitten.

  82. leslie thomas says:

The only perplexing aspect of your decision to post this WON derful photo … is how you could have done so & provided captioning & appreciation; without having made mention of
THE THOROUGHLY INNOCENT & CONTENTED SMILE on his/her face, in addition to the paws in the air aspect.
To use the phrase which I found myself most commonly repeating in my Russian language/ grammar 101 class:
    “Ya ni panimayu “
    aka = “I don’t understand”!!!???
