  12. charliewabba says:

Oh, I don’t know. It’s kind of like getting to make the first footprints in fresh snow. Irresistable.

  13. Theo says:

Don’t make me make fresh footprints IN YOUR @$$!

(I kid. “Splategory” — nicely done, CW.)

How low can you go? *shimmies under the invisible limbo stick*

  17. charliewabba says:

Oh, oh, oh! Here’s an idea – “Splategories” – a new game by Parker Bros.
Players throw things that are similar at the wall and see what sticks.

  18. zski says:

My hams used to LOOOVE to do this. Climb up the arm or chest to the shoulder, and then sliiiiiide down the back. A quick single-handed catch and then start all over again.

When your brain is the size of a baby pea, this kind of thing is fun.

  19. katerpie says:

Looks like me on the ice this morning. Whuh whoa!

  20. Ms. McPantiesInABunchnuff says:

    The TOES are a killer!!:D

  21. zeldapie says:

Oh wow! First time I’ve EVER seen a hammie doing basset hips!!!

  22. charliewabba says:

@ zski – Sounds like sledding — fun even if your brain is NOT the size of a baby pea.

  23. Marianne says:

It’s Chmurka’s friend, Pompon! I love Pyza’s house of hammies.

  24. Beth says:

zski… yup, my two siberians did the same thing. Over and over and over and over again. But I never got tired of it either… hmmm… actually, my brain *might* be the size of a baby pea. XD

  25. berthaslave says:

Mr. Creosote, splatted like Mr. Arthur Pewtie. People, PLEASE don’t let your pocket pals watch “Monty Python’s Meaning of Life.”

    Splategory. Excellent, CW.

Eet was just a woffer theen meent!

  27. fallenwiccan says:

aww i wants to go sliding with him

  28. firefinch says:

Mr. Creosote, ewwwww. I was reminded of that while watching Royal Canadian Air Farce last Friday. Did not want that to come up again. So to speak.

  29. Shannon says:

My life would be desolate without Meg’s wonderful captions.

  30. liz says:

my brain is not the size of a ‘baby pea’. and i think he looks like he’s having fun. i would totally do that if i was a hammie.

  31. brinnann says:

Charliewabba, your Splategories by Parker Brothers could use these for throwing: http://mfrost.typepad.com/cute_overload/2007/06/i_got_yer_flyin.html

  32. charliewabba says:

OOooh Noooooooo! Not the flying hamsters?!?!?!?! I can’t handle the pudding!!!

  33. brinnann says:

Aww, c’mon Charlie, I just finished lunch. I could use a little pudding. ;)

  34. charliewabba says:

*sigh* it was my very first commentroversy…

  35. Joy says:

My all-time favorite dwarf hamster was a slider – he loved to slide down me, down chairs, you name it, it was a game to him. I had another hammie that loved to go up my shoulder and then slide down my back, over and over as well. This cute hammie looks a bit like my hammy.

  36. Kiragirl says:

    * Splategories *

    The Rules:
    1. Each team rolls one die.
    2. Each team has that many chances to throw similar items at the wall of its choice.
    3. Alternating turns is not necessary.
    4. Whichever team has the most items still splatted against the wall after the egg-timer runs out (I’m frightened Aunty Em), is the winner.
    5. Each member of winning team receives one free Siberian Ham to take home.

  37. Theo says:

Sounds good… but if you’re planning to play Splattegories against, say, your brother-in-law, you might want to switch Rule #5 to read “Honey-Baked Ham” instead. Just sayin’.

  38. Jacquie says:

Here I ams on da world famous “Hamster Shlide”!

  39. charliewabba says:

Aunty Em! Aunty Em! Aunty Em!
    AAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  40. CheshireCat says:

Wow, one leetle hamster. Veery big splattitude.

  41. Decca says:

I said drop and give me twenty mister!!! OK, fifteen Ten? One, can you give me one Private Hammie?

  42. Molly says:

this looks like a Pearl Winter White. Am I correct in that guess?

  43. Lucy's mommeh says:

I don’t believe nobody has said “He’s stretching out his HAMstrings…….”

  44. Nebulous says:

    SPLATEGORY.

Make it. I’m serious, now. This is a very important matter we all need to address in the right way. Splattation is a vr. srs issue. *nods*

  45. Missy says:

This. This is why I <3 the Cute!

  46. spb says:

Molly… don’t think it’s a Winter White. Looks more like a Campbells (possibly a dilute normal or opal color). But it might be one of the hybrids that are coming out (unfortunately).

    Lucy’s mommeh… “HAMstrings” hahahahahahahaha! Good one. ;)

  47. Mirysien says:

    *lol* … o…h…m…y…g…a…w….d!!!

  48. Subhangi says:

    I second “splategory”.

  49. Sandy says:

These would be somewhat less meaty drumsticks than the post a few pics back.
    But no less deeelish!

  50. Annie says:

Oh to be a hamster sliding down a shirt. Wheeeeeee!

  51. catfan says:

umm…not trying to be a party pooper here but it would appear as if that poor animal has an incision on its back. i would guess that by the blue background that he could be part of a lab experiment. his legs probably don’t move for a reason…he’s most likely surgically paralyzed. disturbing.not so cute….

  52. Lucy's mommeh says:

thanks spb..wondered if anyone was paying attention!

  53. amy j says:

catfan, are you worried or joking? Hammie is definitely a pet, not an experiment. It’s Pompon, friend of Chmurka. You can see them at pyza*’s photos on Flickr. That’s not an incision, just a stripe.

  54. catfan says:

i’m not kidding. the poor guy looks sad and immobilized. i would hope he’s ok…i love animals. but thanks for pointing out that he’s indeed someones pet. I’ll check out pyza’s pics.

  55. Theo says:

Um yeah. That “incision” is a stripe.

  56. Clare says:

HAR. Splategory. Surely even the disapproving rabbits would approve.

Catfan, that’s a Russian dwarf hamster, and the coloured dorsal stripe down the back is common to the breed. If we want to be serious, I would point out that the ‘blue background’ is actually fabric that is forming a sling in which the hammie is sitting – his legs are splayed to try and keep him upright on the wibbly surface.

    Splategory NEEDS to happen.

  57. Clare says:

….Or, I could look at the original picture caption, and conclude that he is being slid down said sling of fabric, and the legs out are brakes. o.O

  58. musicchick2 says:

Didja see the pikchur wif the little peenk bow on her head? *SPODE!*

  59. musicchick2 says:

um… that was supposed to be *SPLODE!* Not the name of a china dishware company.

  60. Molly says:

i just though by the coloring it looks like a winter white rather than an opal russian. it looks exactly like mine but i’m still not quite sure what mine is (he is getting darker because i put him near a heater) so i think he’s a winter white cuz he is changing coloring.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Phodopus_sungorus_2_-_Colour_corrected.jpg

also i think that he is on a pillow that is leaning, that is how mine looks when he is running down something!!!

  61. Theo says:

Molly — I’m no rodent expert, but to my eye, it looks like you’re spot on.

  62. Theo says:

    …and [snicker!] MC2. “SPODE!”

I may have to start using that.
