? Anyways this polar bear bebeh is awlays so cute and tired… :3

  2. gravyboat says:

It is very exhausting being a bear. Serious nappage is needed.

  3. debg says:

I’d be tired too if my paws grew that much! More milk, please.

  4. Lil says:

I’m sooo glad the zoo decided to step in and save the bub. They couldnt let ‘nature take its course’ as the poor mum is locked up in the zoo for starters so all bets are off.
    damn he’s cute!

  5. Annie says:

She sleeps a lot because she is so little. and those paws are amazing and her little milk mustache’ too.

  6. Marie says:

Ohmigawd…I just want to glue my lips to his. That fuzzy, precious thing! I’m so glad he’s safe and being taken care of now. :D

  7. Clare says:

Never mind the paws, look at the TONGUE! That thing breaks all size records!

  8. gizmo says:

Somehow, these lyrics seem to go along with the tired babbeh bear (thanks, Mel Brooks):

    I’m tired
    Sick and tired of love
I’ve had my fill of love
    From below and above
    Tired, tired of being admired
    Tired of love uninspired
    Let’s face it
    I’m tired

  9. andria says:

someone clear this up for me: is the name supposed to be like flock of seagulls, or bloke with an f?

  10. 260Oakley says:

Resistance is futile. I surrender. Eisbär-Baby, you have enslaved me with your unrelenting cuteness.

  11. Wbirdie says:

I bet people still Flocke to see Knut:D!
    *dodge*

  12. Lisa says:

OK, I admit the first pic of Flocke didn’t really do much for me. Not her fault – I’m sure she’d had a rough day. But holy cow, these new pictures have enslaved me! Gah! The sweet, milky floofiness! I’d love to be a volunteer cuddler at that zoo, where all I’d do is come to work and schnorgle the bebeh all day, then hand her off to the next in line.

  13. circuscake says:

ya know, this might upset some of the more sensitive folks, but it is simply a fact of life: baby animals totally kick baby humans’ butts in the cuteness department.

need proof? i give you exhibit ‘A’ (see above).

  14. Rachel of Cyberia says:

Paws on the other hand!!! Too punny.

  15. berthaslave says:

If I’m not mistaken, the pronunciation would be “Flock-a,” since the Germans don’t usually have “silent” e. But perhaps a German person can weigh in.

The tongue makes me want a nice pastrami sandwich.

The other pic makes me sleepy.

  16. snoopysnake says:

She has inherited the tongue curling gene! All bet all of you humans who can do it too, like me, curled your own tongue upon seeing this!

  17. Harriet says:

May I, as I’m German, please set the record straight… The correct pronounciation would be flock-a, not flock-ey, or flock-uh, but a short “ah”. I hope that clarifies it a bit…

  18. liz says:

    OK
1- where do i sign up
    2- do they take AMEX
3- can i quit my job if i get one
4- would i be eliglble for WIK ?
i would take 2 if available.
    too much cuteness to handle

  19. caro says:

Germany: really delivering the cute polar bear babies these days.

  20. Hans says:

Jeah forget about the polar regions, Germany is polarbearland now :)
Knut and Flocke will be the perfect couple

  21. Kimski says:

Look at the square sides on the tongue!

  22. Lizzy says:

yeah i think more than german 101 is needed for those sites…

  25. theoneflyinvet says:

forget tiny ear and eye alert!

I say Flocke wins hands down the newly created (by me) title of Biggest Yawn Ever. I say she wins for 2008. Bar none. :)

  26. Des says:

I agree circuscake, baby animals have it all over human babies when it comes to cute. Human babies can be down right, um, weird looking.

  27. Golden says:

Yeah, it’s true.. baby animals win over baby humans.. even the ooogliest animals are cute whence they are wee babies.. I give you the Possum as proof. Oh, and the Orangutan

  28. caroline says:

Awwww.. he’s got no teeth yet!

  29. Golden says:

omg.. if you to to the site there’s a wider shot of the one where she’s all tongue, and you can sees her belleh all roundness and sweetness!!

  30. LBeeeze says:

The yawn to die for !! ZOMG…too cute !! Wouldn’t you just love to give her a kiss ??!

  31. hey-h says:

I’m going to Berlin on vacation in a few weeks and I’m totally going to visit Knut…even if he is all growed up.

  32. Kitteh says:

Flocke has eye capsules. CAPSULES I TELL YOU!!

  33. Sammys Mom >^..^ says:

I can’t take it **staggers** cutest yawn eeeeeevar and just smell the calcium-goodness of that behbeh-breath!!! **passes out**

**comes to** that kissable nose, those lips soft and shiney with nearby fuzziness; so precious, I need to keeees them…squeeeeeeeee!

  34. Emmerly says:

OMG, what an adorable little schnookums.

And a wiggle-worm! Check out the videos on the website. (Left-hand menu under “Video.”) Though be warned, the second video on there right now is of them taking its temperature…with a rectal thermometer…poor thing! Why would they film and post that? Though the squeaking at the end kind of makes it worth it.

And for the German-impaired, if you wanna see peek-turs on the site, click on “Bilder” on the left-hand side, then once you’re there, “weitere Bilder” means “more peek-turs.”

I’m in Germany this year…look out, Nürnberg…I’m totally coming over to snorgle Flock-ehn!

  35. Lindsay says:

For andria who was wondering: Flocke translates as flake, implying snow flake which in German would be Schneeflocke.

  36. CheshireCat says:

    I can almost smell the milky-bebeh scent…

  37. bdwilcox says:

    Those paws give me pause.

  38. pb says:

    baby polar bear FTW!!

    got milk?

  39. Theresa says:

Fuzzy bebeh yawns are the best. Lets get all snuggleh and nap!

    And gizmo–
“I’ve been with thousands of men,
    Again and again,
    They sing the same tune!
They give you Byron and Shelley
    Then jump on your belly
    And bust your balloons!”

    Madeline Kahn was the best.

  40. catablob says:

She’s all, like, tooffless and gummy. Gummy bear!
    Anngh!

  41. Too Late says:

Oooh I wanna kees heem!!! Actually I just wanna put my finger in his mouf and see if he would suckle on eet! Brain SPLODES thinking about it…

  42. Ahwwwhat a cutie!

  43. Tutts says:

HOLY FlufferNUTTERS. :000 It’s soo cute!!!

  44. Katrina says:

    And still nicey-clean, I see!

  45. Kiragirl says:

If Flocke and Knut have a beh-beh, would it be called Knock or Flute? hehe

  46. Kat says:

I’m a bit confused on the naming. When I go to the website it looks like they’re still trying to decide on a name. Granted, my German isn’t perfect, as I’ve been living in the states for the last two decades, but I don’t see where they call her Flocke.

  47. LauLau says:

Omg she made me yawn! Anyone else?

  48. Fegli says:

Baby paws! That’s all I have to say.

  49. Hans says:

Flocke is her temporary Nickname, she will be given her real name on friday.

  50. Hans says:

Sorry I made a mistake, she will be given her real name as soon as they know that she will survive (since polarbearbabys seem to die often ;(

  51. Sam says:

    ::snuggle!!::
Seein’ her all warm n’ fuzzy on the outsides makes me all warm n’ fuzzy on the insides!

  52. Claudie says:

Polar bear babeh got Spontaneous Opera Syndrome!

  53. Theo says:

    re: Claudie’s comment…

  54. Mimi says:

    she’s passed out on milk

  55. Mimi says:

in the top picture, it looks like she just had a manicure and doesn’t want to smudge her nails ;-)

  56. Brian G says:

Uh, oh! Looks like we’re getting into some inter-species cute warfare! Check out this iReport post on CNN:
    http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/americas/01/14/polar.pups.irpt/index.html

  57. KiM says:

about her name: Hans is right, it’s only a temporary nickname by the zoo keepers until the competition for a new name is finished. currently, the site of the zoo has more than 6,500 suggestions how to call her. they’ve had suggestions from india, too?!! they’ll pick out the most favored – but my opinion is that the name ‘Flocke’ will be kept, it just fits her so well! :-)

  58. rikku says:

OMG!!! Teh Paws!!! Teh Tongue!!! Teh Nosicle!!
Not to mention the expression of absolute contentment with some ‘sooooooo comfterbuhls’ on the side.

  59. Subhangi says:

    So SWEET!!!

  60. Jupiter Star says:

I vote we renamed him Mister McYawnyBear ^_^.

  61. Jupiter Star says:

    …er…or Missus. Whoops!

  62. Queen Crimson says:

    “Eisbaer-Baby”. That kills me.
Who knew the German language could multiply the cute? (Oder “das Kuete?”)

  63. Theo says:

    [striking up the orchestra pit...]
“Ohhh einsam ich! Die Welt erschöpft! Passen Sie von meinen Tatzen, sie kann die ganze europäischen Anschluß versenken auf.”

  64. Hans says:

Hey Theo, what was that supposed to mean? (I speak German and your sentence makes no sense at all^^)

  65. CrackerLilo says:

The little Snowflake (I do hope they keep that name) is going to be a big ol’ avalanche very soon, and she will grow right into those redonkulously big pawsies with interest! I love how baby bears and large-breed puppies get those huge paws on their tiny bodies.

Enjoy the sleepy little large-pawed sweetness while it lasts–it won’t be long!

Also, if I could look that beautiful with a pot belly, my life would be so much easier…

  66. CrackerLilo says:

Queen Crimson, I love that, too! Eisbar-Baby! And of course, “eisbar” sounds more perfectly perfect for Flocke and Knut and all the rest than “polar bear.”

  67. Adam says:

I can’t be the only one who had a bit a Freudian moment looking at that first picture!

  68. Theo says:

Hans — yep, that’s about right. I was playing with Babelfish. The English I input was something like “Ohhh lonely me!… [um, something don't remember] …Beware of my paws, for they can engulf the entire European Union!”

I’m sure I missed my calling. I should be composing operas. (using Babelfish, of course)

  69. Hans says:

Hehe Theo, I thought that this was babelfish’s work ;) Dont’t trust him, he is evil (and can’t talk German at all^^). If anyone wants a translation into German, just ask and i’ll see what I can do :)

  70. Jupiter Star says:

It’s offish! “Flocke” is the bebeh’s name for good!
