Can’t we all just get along?

Another Bremen-style stack! Woohoo!

3 Melinda 12.21.07 at 8:28 pm

4 Holy Cuteness 12.21.07 at 8:35 pm

Ahwww, and so nice to hear that woman singing at the background…

5 lurkingsmirk 12.21.07 at 8:42 pm

And on top of that, they’re in public and no one is trying to run away! Animals really are amazingk. I’d love to belong to that particular family.

6 CP 12.21.07 at 8:51 pm

That voiceover is creepy.

7 Annie 12.21.07 at 8:51 pm

Peace on earth good will to animal kind.

8 Mello 12.21.07 at 8:52 pm

I wanna punch that lady.

Yay maminals!!

9 Grant 12.21.07 at 9:10 pm

That woman must be a member of the “Society for Putting Things on Top of Other Things.”

“I thank you, gentlemen. The year has been a good one for the Society (hear, hear). This year our members have put more things on top of other things than ever before. But, I should warn you, this is no time for complacency. No, there are still many things, and I cannot emphasize this too strongly, not on top of other things. I myself, on my way here this evening, saw a thing that was not on top of another thing in any way. (shame!)”

they are perfectly stackables!
lets play jenga!

11 Johanna 12.21.07 at 9:45 pm

How very strange. This is the video I sent to Meg. You know, the one with the licking…

johanna-
looks like you’ve been robbed!
i like your original video so much better. it is excellent!

13 Brilhasti 12.21.07 at 9:51 pm

This is actually some really, really kinky animal porn.

Hide your pets’ eyes!

14 SarahR 12.21.07 at 10:15 pm

OHhhh, I did wonder why Meg promised cleaning action but none was forthcoming… thanks Johanna.

15 AmyH 12.21.07 at 10:21 pm

I’ve seen these guys! They live in Bisbee, Arizona. Unless there’s another dog/cat/rat combo elsewhere in the world. It’s always possible.

16 berthaslave 12.21.07 at 10:44 pm

THIS IS AWESOME…everyone look at Johanna’s linked video, THE CAT IS RIDING THE DOGGEH!!!!

WooT! All creatures, one love!!

17 Errata 12.21.07 at 10:45 pm

AmyH, they moved from Arizona to Santa Barbara a couple of months ago or so.

I walk by these guys every day. I just knew they’d end up on here sooner or later.

The cutest thing is when someone with a dog walks by and the dog does a double take and stares in confusion and then tries to get closer and sniff. The second cutest thing is when they go home for the night, with the guy walking the dog, and the dog walking the cat, and the rat in a pocket.

18 liz 12.21.07 at 10:47 pm

this is so very awesome.
i love it!
thanks johanna!

19 sunnymum 12.21.07 at 11:46 pm

Once again, we see how much animals can teach us about getting along. That said, the video is freaking ajadorable!! Errata, I’m so happy for you that you get to walk these great animals; too cool!

20 Patty P 12.21.07 at 11:49 pm

Very cute, thanks for summiting :)

22 CheshireCat 12.22.07 at 1:18 am

I have a dog and a cat and a rat, but I never thought of stacking them on top of each other like that. Brilliant!

23 Odo 12.22.07 at 1:42 am

It’s really cute as long as you keep the sound off.

24 berthaslave 12.22.07 at 1:55 am

I weell haff to look for zem zee next time I am on zee State Street…..

25 Momof2kitties 12.22.07 at 2:23 am

Why O why is this not in Interspecies Snorgling? I beseech you oh great and noble CO Overlords, this must be rectified.
Thank yew.

26 Caitlin 12.22.07 at 3:18 am

I’m guessing maybe Meg posted the wrong video by mistake? Because she does mention the licking action, and there’s none in the video she posted.

I find the “original” video (the one Johanna sent in) hilarious, btw. And not just because the animals are teh awesum.

“If they can do it, why can’t we?… dun dun… HUMANITY ASCENDING”

So… the road to world peace involves stacking people on top of each other? EH??

27 Margaret 12.22.07 at 5:14 am

The sky is the limit, Caitlin!

28 Caitlin 12.22.07 at 5:46 am

but but but… I’m not a Lego!! 0_o

29 azpenguin 12.22.07 at 6:21 am

This video looks to have been taken at the plaza in Santa Fe, NM. We saw these guys there back in September. In the past, we have seen him in Bisbee, AZ (we talked to him to make sure it was the same guy and critters) and also in Tucson, AZ, where we live.

Mmmmm… plaza in Santa Fe… getting a hankerin’ for some red chile pork at the Plaza Cafe.

30 Robin 12.22.07 at 6:46 am

haha, this has already been posted… kind of.

33 spffy 12.22.07 at 9:28 am

34 Sneezy 12.22.07 at 9:50 am

Dey are looking just a wee bit comfterbuls dere.

Alas, I see no leecking! Am I not looking closely enough? Vid was awful short…*Shruggers*

35 Sneezy 12.22.07 at 9:59 am

OH! *finds vid wif leecking action* OMG! How adorable! I love the placid looks on all three of their faces. They’re all like ‘Yesss…thees is a normal day for us…’ I love how ratty’s whiskers go wild in his closeup…Ahhhh.

36 Anita Nooner 12.22.07 at 10:21 am

I’m a former SBite, my dad sent me photos of these guys about two months ago. They were at Paseo Nuevo every day, he said, so go look there, berthaslave!

37 Fegli 12.22.07 at 2:22 pm

Awww. What a sweet puppy. I’m not one for dogs, but I find rotties damn near irresistable.

38 liltandweave 12.22.07 at 6:16 pm

I saw these guys this summer in Santa Fe! They attracted quite a crowd, but they posed very nicely for pictures!

39 Kristen 12.22.07 at 6:29 pm

These guys are currently in Santa Barbara, California. I just moved from there. The guy who owns them walks them all up and down State Street all day. When they walk, the cat kind of surfs on top of the dog and the rat just hangs out on top of the cat. It’s awesome!

40 jen 12.22.07 at 7:10 pm

it’s a trifecta of cuteness!!!

i love the 2nd video – puppeh walks so gently, knowing kitteh is depending on a smooth ride. the rat is all snorgly.

how cute! and they’re all in public and not at all bothered by all the activity.

amazing

41 Kevin 12.22.07 at 7:11 pm

The guy with these animals uses them to busk for dollars, that’s why he is walking up and down State Street all day. He gets booted out of communities once in awhile. Using animals to attract “donations” is not very cute. :(

42 Megan 12.22.07 at 9:58 pm

I dont think this is cute at all…yeah, its cute that the animals are on top of each other, but that chick singing and actually taking money for it….PLEASE.

43 Mollye 12.22.07 at 10:15 pm

Yep, they’re in Santa Barbara, California. They’re actually cute for a second, and then more of a nuisance. They are part of Santa Barbara’s problem of transients who exploit tourists by luring them with animals along State Street. I feel bad for the animals, though it is funny when they walk by you in Staples 20 steps before their handler. But then the man walks by…let’s just say “BO city”! Sorry to be negative CO peeps.

44 Errata 12.22.07 at 10:56 pm

Megan, the woman singing wasn’t affiliated with the animals, it was just a random person who decided to sing (badly).

A street performer offering something that people appreciate is loads better than all the standard issue beggars soliciting donations. Santa Barbara has a lot of those too, but at least the performers contribute something.

I don’t think its a bad life for the animals, they get to chill out, see interesting people and places, and get lots of attention all day.

45 Kevin 12.22.07 at 11:38 pm

Errata, pets don’t need to “chill out” on the sidewalk all day for their human to soak up handouts.

46 Errata 12.23.07 at 6:40 am

Yes, the pets lives would be so much more rich if he got a 9-5 job and locked them in the living room/back yard alone all day. Sitting on the sidewalk isn’t exactly sweatshop labor.

47 Ciepher 12.23.07 at 8:07 am

I agree that beggars using animals to attract donations might not be ideal – in Reading, UK there’s a few beggars with dogs around, and the dogs often look cold and skinny.

However, these animals look happy and well cared for. That rat seems to be really enjoying his nice warm seat! ^__^

48 Errata 12.23.07 at 8:54 am

I don’t think they have to worry about cold, since they’re in the Southwest US, and they’re inside at night.

I think some people are just taking issue with the political issue of being a beggar and pretending its about the animals welfare. The animals don’t care about politics or money. They are quite adequately cared for and are not abused. You may not approve of their human is living off tourist donations, but that doesn’t impact their quality of life.

49 Megan 12.23.07 at 9:54 am

Errata, I didn’t write it to get a response back, I could actually care less what you say. The fact of the matter is, its not cute…The dog looks like he’s hungry and he’s deciding on which animal to eat first.
I have every right to my opinion..and its that this video BLOWS.
So, I don’t need to hear what you have to say…Next time, mind yourself.

50 Kevin 12.23.07 at 4:32 pm

This isn’t about a “political issue” about begging or homelessness or pretending anything like that. I oppose this in the same way I oppose Ringling Brothers circus using animals as props to generate revenue. I have no problem with street artists, mimes, musicians busking, and the like, *actually doing the performing*. I see it often where I live.

51 Errata 12.23.07 at 7:28 pm

Circus animals are mostly dangerous wild animals that spend most of their time in confinement when they aren’t performing. These are pets.

52 P. Erasmus 12.23.07 at 10:05 pm

Must… keep… guard. Danger… looming.

As the caption says, “Can’t we all just get along?”

Let’s all enjoy the things we think are cute, and let other people enjoy the things they think are cute, and be kind to each other.

54 Joan 12.24.07 at 2:12 am

According to my Norton 2008 program, your website is still infected with a virus. It’s called HTTP Quicktime RTSP URI BO and it’s high risk and causes severe computer damage.

I think you need to know this. I can visit here, because my Norton Security 2008 blocks that virus, but others without protection are in big trouble.

Anyway, your virus problem isn’t solved. I hope you can get a handle on it.

55 Faith-o 12.27.07 at 4:51 pm

I live in Santa Barbara and see this guy all the time. Actually, it’s a little creepy. I’m not sure if the animals are really all that happy.

56 Margaux 01.01.08 at 1:03 am

Yeah, I live in Santa Barbara, too.
I saw him when he first got here,
and I thought it was magical

but then he wouldn’t go away and hasn’t since…it’s gotten old to everyone but the tourists.
