Nothing like an annoying little kitteh to take your mind off things

According to Sender-Inner Dawn C., Pikey, the larger grey cat here, lost his mate a year ago and was lonely and meowing his head off 24/7. That’s when Dawn decided to get Turkish (the little kitteh) to see if it would help the lonely situation. Pikey responded with a ‘get off me, punk’ attitude with occasional protective snuggling. Instant Grandpa.

Awww poor lonerly kitty. Looks like the youngin’ keeps him busy!

  4. mm says:

I can see little kitteh looks totally intimidated. This lesson will have to be repeated many times, until “Grandpa” forgets he was annoyed in the first place.

  5. Carrie says:

I too would be annoyed by a small kitten climbing all over me and snorgling me to death – why …. I outtaaa….

    aaahhhhnnnnnn…

  6. Annie says:

What a great story! Glad the new addition helped Pikey get over his loss.

    /and now I want some Werther’s, darn it…

  8. berthaslave says:

Yay! It’s so nice (and so rare) when older cats welcome younger kittehs into their world!

Grandparent goodies butterscotch drops, lemon drops and those pink colored mints. I can still see the candy jar in my mind at my one grandmas house.

  15. kim says:

Mine gave me bits of Hershey’s chocolate bar from the fridge when Grandmother wasn’t looking.

  16. chanpon says:

There’s something wrong with this ride – it won’t work! Cute little overhyper kitty.

This duo reminds me of my grandpas. One let my sibs and me swarm all over him any time and took us fishing and rockhounding, and the other would load 2 or 3 of us on his lap and tell really cool stories about when he was young, or let us watch him make stuff in his wood shop.

grampas (& grammas) is teh mos k00000000000lest peeps in teh hol urfs!

OMG, in addition to the obvious adorabuhls-ness, the names of these kittehs are great. Dawn C also have a dog named Gorgeous George? Or maybe Bricktop? (Though, ew. He fed people to pigs.)

  19. CheshireCat says:

That second pic reminds me of what my grandpa did with me when I was a leetle tyke; he called it “squeezin’ me like a lemon”. Oh and he also gave me little sour gummy candies that he called “jelly-dogs”.

Kitty snugglin’ is the best. So soft and warm.

  22. Janni says:

    Cute kitties…
But you people make me feel sorry for myself for never having grandpas…
    *sigh*

  23. Leah B. says:

everyone I showed the picture to and told the store of “Grandpa Pikey” got a smile and a laugh.
Your never to old for new freinds no matter what there age.

  24. gail says:

If “grandpa” was a black Maine Coon-type, it would be ‘matchingks’ with my little Daniel and Charlie, VERY tolerant big brother!! The forcible grooming wrestling matches with the forearm(?) across the throat are so funny!

  25. Jenjen says:

Wow, this story sounds identical to the situation my Darby was in when he lost his buddy Nemo. Constant crying, and then I adopted Bettie. She grooms him, pounces on him, snuggles with him…http://bluerobot.net/jen/images/kitties.jpg

    [That's *awesome*, JenJen... - Ed.]

    Sweet!

  27. Yitzysmommie says:

    HEY!! Ed!!
I can **finally** access the site by cuteoverload.com. Could not all yesterday, had to use your shortcut (the mfrost@typepad one). I am wondering if others had the problema all day yesterday too.

  28. Jenjen says:

Yitzysmommie, I had trouble getting to the site yesterday, too, not sure why.

For everyone else, to elaborate, Darby is 12, Bettie is 2. I adopted her when she was 10 months old from a shelter that was closing due to lack of funds. Her mother was feral and she was really skittish, but she loves her big grumpy kitty brother.

  29. sessile says:

Love the names. Guy Ritchie fan much? :)

  30. Kate B. says:

Reminds me of when our old marmie tom Dave became introduced to our ragamuffin calico Bridgeton-Dave grudingly accepted his new charge, while Bridgeton was in heaven to have a “dad”. :)

The Werther’s/cardigan combo totally describes my BF. I love grampa cats.
