Kompact Kitteh Trick

LOVE the laff track on this silly video. Remember that laugh track they used to use on Brady Bunch, and Gilligan’s Island? It was like:

[Greg comes homes with a bruise on his arm]
Carol: Oh, Greg!
Greg: Mom, it’s just a bruise.
Carol: That is the biggest bruise I have ever seen in my entirelife! See, this is exactly why I was so worried about you playingfootball!
Greg: Mom, that’s not from practice. I bumped my arm in math class. [laugh track]
Carol: Oh, well…
Greg: I’d be happy to quit math if you think it’s too dangerous.

Excellent YouTubin’, Mila T. and Brady Bonche dialog from TV.com [cue laugh track]

  4. DizzyPrincess says:

Wow. 1. The sound effect was LOUD! 2. Boy can that kitty squeeze. I wish my fluff was so pliable.

  5. Lisa says:

    Holy CRAP! No freaking way!

  6. bunnyhunny says:

Further proof that cats are, in fact, liquid.

  7. tracyFlick says:

This kitteh would be a great pocket friend.

    Awesome. Cats are kooky.

  14. garlicknots says:

a lot better then a goldfish. whenever i try to snorgle a gold fish i get water up my nose. this is an infinitely better pet in a bowl.

  15. Redzilla says:

    Gott in himmel.
In case of snorgle emergency break glass.

  16. Eni says:

Adorable, indeed, but the bowl looks a bit too small. He doesn’t look like he can get out..

  17. Derek says:

    Commentroversy in three, two, one….

  18. snorgler says:

PLEASE DON’T DO THIS! THINK OF THE LOLBOWLS!

  19. chacha says:

    honest to dog, LOL.

  20. J. Bo says:

Does this make anyone else feel panicky and claustrophobic? No? Just me, then…

  21. Fegli says:

lmao. Cats are so dumb. You’d never see a dog doing something idiotic like that. But we love them (cats) for it. <3

  22. E.G. says:

Further proof of the strangeness of animals. What compels him to want to do that? He’s so driven…

I guess for cats, who revere the tight space, that bowl is paradise.

  23. mouse says:

am I the only one that thinks its wrong to try to teach and make a kitty do such a thing… what happens if the poor kitty get stuck in the bowl just to please the owner???…. poor kitty… Come to me I will never make you force yourself into bowls… I will just love you and hug you and pet you…

  24. amy j says:

I’ll bet kitteh figured it out on his (her?) own. My little snorgler loves to squish into small spaces (Maggie’s human – he also has no bones!). But maybe not quite that small.

  25. debg says:

I think cats are more like a gel than a liquid, personally.

Thanks for all the posts today, Meg. I was going through CO withdrawal yesterday.

  26. tinycat says:

That was almost more cute/funny than I could handle today!

About the whole “how horible for someone to train a kitteh to do X”, the kitteh probably started getting in the bowl when it was little and just kept it up as it got bigger. The owner is probably just encouraging the kitteh to do something it does on its own. Albeit, something that is incredibly hilarious to humans.

  27. Ciepher says:

I think it must be another rule of cuteness, being able to jam yourself into tiny spaces.
My rat, Chestnut, has a little wooden house that he slept in as a baby – even though he’s twice the size now, he still prefers it over a bigger bed! *^^*

  28. Laura says:

Mouse, odds are this cat loves squeezing itself into tiny spaces. Many of them do. Mine has been known to squeeze herself into some quite small boxes, and my friend’s cat (who weighs about 20 pounds or more) loves contorting himself into this tiny trough-shaped basket. He looks like an overflowing cat-loaf!

  29. jen says:

    this makes me claws-trophobic!

  30. Melinda says:

Mouse, my cat, who is pretty large, insists he can fit into a small shoe box. He can’t, but I humor him. I think it’s a compulsion for the kittehs to try, and if you have ever tried to coerce a cat into doing something it doesn’t want to do, well, it just doesn’t happen. So don’t worry about the fluffy kitty, I’m sure he’s fine.

  31. CB says:

Sweet tap-dancing christ. “Redonk” doesn’t even begin to cover it.

  32. CB says:

ps. to mouse, who is concerned about the cat’s safety. don’t worry. it’s a cat. as such, it doesn’t do anything it doesn’t want to do.

  33. Annie says:

Teee heee… proof that cats are a liquid not a solid.

  34. Claustrophobic says:

Please show me the kitteh getting out of the bowl. . . I can’t breathe. . .

  35. metz says:

    sEEmommeeeitolyuiculd2fit
    (oO) ohnoesihazitchcantreachehn!

  36. berthaslave says:

    Wow. Just…wow. I’ve been around cats a long time and I’ve never…I mean…golly.

“There was a fish in here last week.”

    Or…

Anyone want a nice bowl of kitteh?

  37. bugmom says:

I love how kitteh grabs for his own tail like…..almost…all…the…way…in!

  38. Jess says:

    Stays crunchy, even in milk!

  39. Momof2kitties says:

My kitteh smooshes herself into way too tight places too. And she is certifiably boneless.

  40. charliewabba says:

Yet another argument for including a “my cat has no bones” category.

  41. gravyboat says:

Hahahahahaha! That’s a great trick! I want a bowlful of kitten, too.

  42. anner says:

at least there can’t be any commentroversy about this cat being fat…because by the end of the video we know it is made entirely of floof.

  43. mberkie0 says:

all cats be determined to squoosh into lil places they don’t really trooley belong, like lil shoeboxes and such. they like being smooshed into teeny packages, i spoze. ever watch one squiggle into place before plumfing down?

  44. brinnann says:

mberkie0, “plumfing” is the perfect word for what they do!

  45. Juno says:

WHOA! I never thought she’d fit! I was STUNNED!
I’ve also had kittens/cats who loved to do this–but I was sure this floofy kitty had outgrown the bowl.

    Must go watch again . . .

  46. Shana S. says:

Tee-hee, Melinda! My ginormous boy kittehs try to smushie their floofiness in the shoebox, too! Also the Fed-Ex box. And any other box that is waaaaaay to small.

    New kittehgory–muffin-top kittehs!

  47. Squeeky says:

I saw that on tv once. I’ll bet that’s where the laughter is from.

  48. DLR says:

omg! no way! i was laughing in shock.

  49. CheshireCat says:

Unbelievable. Excuse me while I retrieve my eyes, they just popped from their sockets.

  50. Yubi Shines says:

    I gasped out loud.

    No way.

  51. Subhangi says:

WHOA! AWESOME!!! Love them kooky kittehs.

  52. Subhangi says:

Oh, and I LOVE the caption!!!

“Greg: I’d be happy to quit math if you think it’s too dangerous.”

    PRICELESS!

  53. rubypearl says:

How do we know that was a laugh track?? Maybe the lady threw a party just so’s peeps could watch the kitty do it’s bowl trick. Fur reelz!

  54. Barbarella says:

Too cute! I have a persian kitty too and after getting her shaved recently it´s amazing how TINEEEE she really is! Persians are really ALL FUR! :D

  55. Wukki says:

So cute! I watched it three times, each time laughing insanely. People must think I’m CRAZY! Wow that is a poofy kitty! I’d hate to see what happens in humidity!

  56. Emmerly says:

LAWL! Comment #2 beat me to it…fur-realz BONSAI KITTEH!!!

  57. Sabrina says:

    Mouse
You don’t teach cats to do anything. They’re too independent. Just like you’ll be petting one and it’s purring and !BAM! it decides it’s going to swat you and run off. What the heck is that about? Anyways the only thing I could ever get my cat to do was S#!T in a box. And on some days he’s not even willing to grace me with that courtesy.
My dog on the other hand spins, sits, shakes and lays. But he won’t S#!T in the box. Go figure.

  58. Theo says:

Sabrina, I know it was probably a rhetorical question, but the swat-bam thing is about over-stimulation. Cats are kinda susceptible to that, in general, and some more than others. They can get even more sensitive as they get older, too.

    [pets a purring lap-cat]
    [but only just a little]

  59. annierexic says:

hahahaaa that kitteh is impossibly meltier than mine!

  60. jackie31337 says:

Laura: “overflowing cat-loaf” nearly made me spray the monitor! That’ll teach me to drink while reading comments….
Perfect phrase to describe the phenomenon, though. :)

  61. homer mariner says:

Actually, you can teach cats tricks. My cat has to sit before she eats. But I don’t think I could ever convince her to stuff herself into something she didn’t want to get into… Getting her out of areas she’s already crammed herself into is always an equally interesting task… *looking at cat in back of my sock drawer… >^oo^< *

  62. dwarf says:

    tight kitty

  63. Sabrina says:

Theo. Yes, I’m aware of that… in normal cats. I’ve got a short bus cat though. He hides under the table and waits for you to walk by and he “lays that swat down.” He also swats leaky faucets, moving pencils, buzzing alarm clocks, snoring mothers, people sitting there minding their own business, cursors on the screen, the braces on Ugly Betty… etc. He also attacked the Victoria Secret fashion show every time the wings came on.
And about the cat training thing, so I’ve never tried training him. Crap on me. I’d rather insult the dog by making him sit for his dinner.

[Great now I'm one of those people who goes on and on about their "furchildren." Next thing you know I'll be showing you pictures of them in costumes. I mean, I've got the link if you're interested... Just saying.]

  64. chanpon says:

Kitties are amazingly flexible and love to be balled up, so doesn’t surprise me. And yes, a lot of furry kitties look bigger than they are. I have one short hair kitty and one medium coat one; everyone thinks the medium kitty weighs more but he’s a good 1-2 pounds lighter than the other guy.

  66. Kara says:

Oh my… cute vid but did anyone click on the link at the end to the video with the angry-looking orange tabby titled ‘Wściekły kot [www.cda.pl]‘? Holy crap!

  67. Sadie says:

    Wow, she’s a Popple!
