You took the words right out of my mouth E.G. Art is art whether it is cinema, literature, music, ballet, opera, theater, photography (what this website is kinda devoted to), visual art or TV. It can be bad and it can be good.

Would you say the same thing about books? Or plays? Or movies? The double standard is glaring. Books and plays and movies don’t have 500 channels that have to be filled 24 hours of every day… and, even so, plenty of them are of poor quality. The best of TV stands up to the best of literature or the best of cinema. There’s no reason to judge a medium or act superior to it just because it’s transmitted on a certain piece of equipment.

When dying, I might say I wished I watched more TV… if I’d missed some of the sublime, thought-provoking, uplifting art that has aired on TV over the years.
