Holy target audience!

by Meg on November 19, 2007

I’m so glad we’re finally tapping the lucrative kitten market. It’s unbelievable how much those guys spend each Holiday season! woo hoo!

We just expanded our audience—Our luring hamster footage worked! Great find, Bane.

4 Dana 11.19.07 at 3:13 am

LOL. I love how he tried to hit “replay”.

5 Milkgirl 11.19.07 at 3:13 am

Its looking at the cursor on the screen, not the hammie! :P

6 Pup 11.19.07 at 3:22 am

Could this be the next “Infinite… Project?” Videos of pets watching videos of pets watching videos of pets watching videos…

7 Andrea|Nash 11.19.07 at 3:25 am

Thanks, Milkgirl, now it makes sense!

Oh my oh my oh my oh my… such a cute kitters, so intent on the hammie! “Play it again!! Please play it again!!” paw paw paw the replay button. “Okay kitteh, I play it again for you…” and again, and again, and again…

9 chet's momma 11.19.07 at 3:45 am

where’s the hammie foot? you promised hammie FOOTS!

10 Erica 11.19.07 at 4:15 am

Doesn’t that kitteh know that being so close to the screen can hurt your eyes??

[if that were true, I'd *definitely* be blind by now - Ed.]

11 yankeebird 11.19.07 at 4:40 am

But he’s not looking at the cursor, you can see the cursor remaining stationary near the top of the screen. He just wuvs the hammie.

12 Subhangi 11.19.07 at 4:42 am

SQUEEEEEEEEE!!! Both are so cute!!!

I love the kitteh head-tilt at the very end.

13 Akane 11.19.07 at 4:46 am

Woooaaaa this is great.
I loved how the kitten punched the screen in disappointment when it stopped.
“hey… HEY! Play it again, why it stopped dammit!”

14 Annie 11.19.07 at 4:54 am

I liked when he bonked his nose on the screen trying to get the hammie … this is ohhh so cute.

I’m always amused when I hear people claim cats and dogs only see this or that on a screen because they’ve heard animals cannot identify creatures or scenes on screen. Anyone who has ever owned a cat and a tv and has tuned into Animal Planet knows they absolutely can. I have a dog who while watching a home movie of my other dogs playing in a corner of the backyard excitedly ran to the window to check that part of the yard. He came back to the tv, saw them again and returned to check the yard. There was absolutely no doubt he associated the scene on tv with a place he knew well.

ZOMG!!1! Cuteness watching cuteness – iz enigma, puzzle within puzzle. Zen, bitches. Work that eternal circle.

17 Aoide 11.19.07 at 6:01 am

Michelle-

What you say is very true. We were watching something on Discovery Channel (Sunrise Earth, I think) and my cat kept running back and forth from the tv to the window, frantic because there were birds making a huge noise on tv.

18 Mimi 11.19.07 at 7:13 am

Aoide: same for us. As a kid, we got a video of local birds and how to identify them, with flying birds, male, female, singing, etc. We used to put it on only for our cat!

19 leah b. 11.19.07 at 7:47 am

he or she wanted replay until the cursor moved then kitteh did not quite know what to want I wanted kitteh to look at the camera but it did’t. Darn kitteh……..I want to snorgle the kitteh

20 spiffy 11.19.07 at 8:52 am

21 sari 11.19.07 at 9:02 am

holy recursion batman!

22 S 11.19.07 at 10:14 am

I thought it was slightly amusing until the end of the vid (hamster), then I laughed out loud as the kittie tried pressing replay!

My pets never reacted much to what they ’saw’ on the tv or pc, but they sure did react to what they ‘heard’:

– cockatiel would dance to music, and whistle with other birds, or someone whistling on tv

– cat froze, and looked like he was gonna wet himself when he heard a lion roar on tv

– when a friend would log in on whatever instant message program, there’d be a knocking sound, and the dogs would run barking to the front door (this was the funniest)

23 Brandi Lee 11.19.07 at 10:29 am

do you think the kitten is saying : like that is the biggest mouse I have ever seem………..

24 Hon Glad 11.19.07 at 11:10 am

Dear Santa,
Please send me one in each flavour, er I mean colour.
Love
Dolly

25 Mandy 11.19.07 at 11:29 am

My cat did something like this the other day. I was playing the pilot Sesame Street episode from the Old School Vol 2 DVD and there was a scene where a baby racoon was washing grapes in a water bowl. My kitty sat there and watched intently, and walked away when the raccoon walked away and got lost on “Gordon”.

26 lymerae 11.19.07 at 11:33 am

My dog never notices anything on TV unless it’s the sound of knocking, at which he’ll bark and run to the front door–but my friend’s dog, a little bitty silky terrier, will run out from under the couch and bark ferociously at anything resembling another dog–anything else, he ignores completely. It’s really funny to see what counts as “dog”–elephants, orcs, charging horses, etc.

27 metsakins 11.19.07 at 1:04 pm

MY kitties will respond to a door bell on tv. One runs to see, the other hides!

I’m all for the infinite CO project!

28 jen 11.19.07 at 1:47 pm

what a cute kitteh!

29 Carrie 11.19.07 at 2:36 pm

that’s pretty sweet!

a while back there was a show on FX channel about pets and as part of their opening sequence they had a parakeet that flew at the screen towards you. My cat used to sit and watch that bird and duck every time it came at her. You can’t tell me they don’t know what they’re seeing.

30 luvinmalssomuch 11.19.07 at 2:45 pm

Hello Dolly!
Well, Hello Dolly!
It’s so nice to have you back where you belong
You’re looking swell, Dolly,
We can tell, Dolly,
You’re still glowin’, you’re still crowin’
You’re still goin’ strong.
We feel the room swayin’
For the band’s playin’
One of your old fav’rite songs from ‘way back when….yada ya

31 Valerie 11.19.07 at 2:58 pm

That kitteh reminds me of *me* watching CO – utterly tranfixed and in awe of the cute

32 Michelle 11.19.07 at 3:15 pm

OMG Did that cat just try to hit “replay?” CUUUUTE

33 Fegli 11.19.07 at 4:25 pm

Now I really wish I’d gotten a video of my big, fat, orange cat watching the Garfield movie with us in much the same way.

34 Josh 11.19.07 at 4:38 pm

Have you all seen this?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/north_east/7101506.stm

Soooooo adorable.

35 Anne 11.19.07 at 5:39 pm

Zen cuteness is right! Hard to choose which is cuter, kitten or screen. Maybe someone’s taping ME watching all this…

36 Hellioness 11.19.07 at 8:21 pm

Oh sooo adorable. Kitty definitely hit the replay button. Kitty needs a touch-screen, so he can replay the video himself.

37 berthaslave 11.19.07 at 8:50 pm

Okay, we now need to get another kitteh to watch THIS video and press replay….it will be a video infinite cat project!!!

38 riolinda 11.19.07 at 10:01 pm

Awww… i want that kitten! :)

39 lurkertype 11.19.07 at 10:31 pm

We need a word for something that is so far beyond redonk and prosh that you cannot express it.

Other than “squeeeee!”, which I consider more a noise than a word.

40 Tina Rhea 11.19.07 at 11:46 pm

Our cats usually don’t pay much attention to the TV, but once one of them sat and stared at the screen for almost an hour. It was a nature documentary on the South Pacific– lots of birds and fish!

41 Yitzysmommie 11.20.07 at 1:23 am

I think this is the start of Infinite CuteOverload!

42 Tara 11.20.07 at 6:15 pm

aww my cat also a torti used to do the same when i played Super Mario

43 Serena 11.27.07 at 10:13 am

Ahaha, kitteh is SO CUTE. so fuzzy.
